I'm fixing to pig out. I'm having some grilled chicken breasts, spaghetti, bread rolls and some green beans. We've been doing better on the spending. Hope y'all had a nice weekend eating nutritious foods and staying healthy.

Simple breakfast: Bacon, egg cheddar cheese sandwich half, with coffee, black berries and blueberries on the side.

For lunch I made a chopped salad with an Asiago garlic chicken sausage. I didn’t want to use any dressings, so I tossed the salad in the cold skillet to pick up some of the drippings. Added a little roasted garlic and onion powder.

Was it any good? I like the look of that - KFC has gone downhill badly IMO, but that looks pretty good!

When I first moved to my flat, I found out that there was a KFC just 10 mins walk away - but it turned out to be Kelvingrove Free Church 😖

The local Tesco sold out of Cornettos so I tried out Aldi's Gianni's vanilla cones.



So far they're a passable supermarket brand imitation if a little on the sweet side. The sprinkles are candied peanuts instead of straight nuts but I'm okay with that, since they're usually snarfed up in the first couple of bites.

Biscuit cone is on point.

No idea. I'll be sure to ask Colonel Sanders if I ever bump into him, though. Which I hope won't be too soon as he's already been buried, probably in a red-and-white box. I heard they embalmed him in eleven different herbs and spices first.

Thanks mates, she's already on the mend. A nice well ventilated hospital may be the best place for her to sit out the worst of the heatwave until tomorrow when they say they'll discharge her.

Now, to really whet your appetite:

Here is the favorite food from the state where I live in Brazil—Rio Grande do Sul.

Next month, on the 20th, we celebrate "Gaucho Day."
As you can see in the first few images, there is the typical barbecue found at the Acampamento Farroupilha (Farroupilha Encampment)—the traditional fogo de chão (open-pit ground fire).

The final images show what you'll find in most houses and apartments that have a churrasqueira (built-in grill); the spread usually looks like this: salsichão (large sausage), galeto (young chicken), a beautiful cut of beef ribs, the traditional picanha (rump cap), vazio (flank steak), and so on... and for drinks, if you enjoy a cocktail, there’s the traditional caipirinha.

If you aren't familiar with the concept, around here we have "ice cream buffets" or "hot dog buffets" where you pay based on how much you can fit into your container, cone, or bun.

Have you ever heard of—I hope so—rodízio pizza?
Forget traditional Italian pizzas; here we have those and much more (around 30 to 50 different flavors), including sweet options (like doce de leche, chocolate, peanut, and the "California" style—pineapple, peach, and fig) and savory ones (I'll post a menu sometime).

The price for rodízio pizza in my city tops out at around US$20–$25 (excluding drinks), but you can eat as much as your stomach allows. Prices for ice cream and hot dog buffets vary widely but rarely exceed US$12 for the average person.

As for traditional restaurants, the vast majority nowadays offer "pay-by-the-kilo" service—meaning you pay for exactly what you take—alongside an "all-you-can-eat" option (a fixed price allowing for unlimited refills).

Prices vary by restaurant type, generally ranging from US$8 to US$15 for the all-you-can-eat option, with a separate rate for the pay-by-the-kilo service (where you serve yourself just once).
