(And America is ruining the world with their v8's.. There are too many in America.. Much diesel cars.. Diesel is much cheaper... Am I right?)

You aren't right you are an idiot if you think its American V8's that are at fault. Diesel is the same price as gas around me.

I live in Oregon, and I do hear you. When is the last time something you depend on increased it's price by over 100%. What's next, $8 Big Mac Meal?(Medium Sized).

I know its terriable, hell I went gorcery shopping yesterday and I wanted to buy green peppers...they were 5 dollars a pound, I bought steak cheaper then that. What the hell is going on with the damn inflation.

On OPEC, do you really think it's solely OPEC's fault? I'm pretty sure there are few politicians and oil companies in America, who are laughing all the way to the bank becaue of this. They forecast the problem they are going to have(wars, storms, etc.), to increase the prices. Shouldn't the oil prices be rising, after the effect?

I had stock in oil for a long time, and when the gas prices went up I lost money however that works. The oil companies do screw us over, I don't think its the politicans...but they should step in a do something about it.

I forgot to add. Doesn't the gas companies raise the prices(at least in the U.S.) during the summer, due to the increased demand? I don't like that either.

I don't even want to think about Labor Day weekend...shutters.

About 6 months ago I could fill up my little 240SX for $30 (Canadian) now it's approx: $45.00, it's running anywhere from .95 a litre to $1.09. And going up.

Thankfullly I don't own a Hummer. And I'm looking at The Mercedes Smart car...

Here Diesel is a little more expensive to buy per litre, but of course you use less of it so it's cheaper.

Plus, I read a while back that diesel is worse for the enviorment than petrol, I think it was in Autocar magazine.

I've seen a Hummer, in the UK.

Diesel is about the same for the environment now that they have the low sulfur and low emissions stuff. I will be buying the new MKV Golf with a diesel once it comes out in the states...by the way anyone know when they will be here?

My dad has seen a Hummer on the road and I've seen one in a showroom.

Petrol will go up slightly during Holidays so in Britain it should drop slightly in September (also the extra duty has been cancelled, old news.) though Diesel prices go up in Winter because it's similair to heating oil, or so I heard.

Which mean Diesel could hit £1 soon enough.

Same here. Last winter, I was thinking about the new Mustang GT as my next car. These days, I've been reading up on Scion xB, Corolla, new Civic and Focus instead. This is the just like why I don't have cable TV. I'd rather live without quality TV programming than get raped by Comcast. :grumpy:

i haven't filled the tank in my old benz in like...forever! i cant afford it. its $2.90 for premium, the tank is big, and it just drinks gas. whenever i get money (never) i put gas in the car. no job, broke as crap. the needle is on R (reserve, i aint got an E) right now!

Sometimes, I wish I had a 300D diesel, but then I don't. I like the smell of gas leaking out of my tank when I make a hard left :odd: :banghead:

I want all of you to realize that no more then two years ago gas was 1.25 a gallon. Gas shouldn't go up almost 200% now should it?

Well, actually, in 1991 gas prices in Venezuela were about Bs. 5 per litre (that's Bolivars, the Venezuelan currency). In 1996 it was Bs. 14 per litre, and in 1997 it was Bs. 80 per litre... still way below the dollar value, but pretty much more than 2000% increase in an eight year period. One dollar equals 2,147.21 Bolivars.

OPEC doesn't rape the world with gas prices. Think of the fact that before OPEC was formed (mid 70s), prices were waaaayyy higher but less uniform, meaning that there was some kind of free trade and whomever sold at the lowest price, won. But that made the market too unstable.

12 cents/ per gallon in Venezuela. How's that possible, even with the government owned gas company?

Easy: 5th largest oil producer in the world. It's always been extra cheap. I could fill my Mustang's tank (60 litres) with about $1.20

Great gas price, but after what happened to you over there, I guess it's not worth it. :indiff:

Holy crap its already at 3 bucks around her....sad mini trucker I am.

It's supposed to jump $.25 here tonight. It's currently at 2.69 so it'll be about $3 in the morning. :indiff:

I payed $1.27 per litre for regular unleaded the other day, what a rip off!

So true. Hence, I now live in Spain... €0.789 cents per litre... although I still haven't bought a car.

On another note, I remember back in 1998 when I went to college (2nd degree, yep I'm old) that I had an Omani roommate and we were talking about oil prices (geez, what nerds we were!)... I guess when you come from an oil-producing-country, it's a common topic. Anyway, we were talking about the barrell costing about $20... and in Venezuela the cost was about $27... my god what a difference right now: 68 bucks!!!

I sick of you Europeans telling us we need to quite complaining. I want all of you to realize that no more then two years ago gas was 1.25 a gallon. Gas shouldn't go up almost 200% now should it? You have to remeber here in the US we were at prices around a buck for the longest time, then all of a sudden it jumped up. How don't you people understand that?

You're still paying 200% less than us!

I could care less, it still kills me to fill up my truck 2 times a week. Think about it? I pay 50 bucks to fill up (average) and I fill up two times a week which means 100 bucks a week, 400 bucks a year, and 5200 bucks a year. Why do I fill up so much? No my truck isn't hard on gas, but I work a long way way from my house.

NZD$1.50/litre around here.

:(

I remember when it was $0.80/litre, you would see the number of litres go up higher then the amount of dollars, it's the other way around now :(

You think thats bad, when I was a youngin I remember gas being 55 cents a gallon!!!!

An increase of 100% is bad, no matter where you live (altough I still envy your fuel-prices). The price here is slightly higher then the price given in an earlier post (Oslo), but then again our wages are higher. I believe the same goes for rest of Europe.

I believe the best comparo would be to post how much you have to work to pay for the fuel. I myself, had an income of 100 NOK (~15.4 USD) per hour. With 95 Octane (the lowest octane normally available) costing around 6.20 USD a US gallon (based on the table earlier posted), that's approx. 25 mins of work to pay for a single gallon.

So how much do you have to work, to pay for the fuel?

I work 40 hours a week at something like 20 bucks an hour, but then again I do work for GM. I pay for gas, phone bill, insurence, college classes, and I going to buy a house real soon.

Just this morning gas was $2.43/gal for regular. It jumped to $2.69/gal when I passed by in the afternoon. :scared:

Gas is $2.83 here and Diesel is $2.55
Looks like my Excursion is gonna get some use with gas being 0.27 more than deisel for the time being.

Well... it didn't hit $3.00 technically but they were out of 87 and 89 so my dad had to pay $3.06 for 92 at the 76 near our house.

Hopefully, I don't have to fill up till next week and then it will actually be at $3.06 :dopey:

Adjusted for inflation, gas prices are fine.

cotd_20050406.gif

I don't see the big deal, but I only fill up my car once or twice a week.

wow, according to that graph, the last recession only lasted about 3 months... I looked for a job in the US for about a year and they always told me they were in a recession... bastards

we pay about 11.75 norwegian kroners for one litre of fuel.
thats about 1,82 dollars..

soo... 6,88$ for a gallon if im not mistaking?
:nervous:

It's about 3.25 a gallon around me, but I saw it for 3.55 today and about cried.
