The illusion of driving something complex is the best part of this game. The connectedness, the complexity of the variables which need to be mastered to get the best of the game. Turn off all the aids, and take a powerful FR or MR vehicle to the track; any car with perhaps 600hp+ and Sports Hards. The skill required just to keep the damned thing on the road is excellent; the challenge is fantastic.
There is so much to learn, to master! I love doing a lap or even a few hundred yards in such a beast without aids, reasonably well (after having played this fairly solidly for some 18months, i have some basic skills), then handing the controls to a newb, and watch them desperately trying to control the "monster" i've just handed them. They end up crawling round at about 50km in 1st gear and still sliding around all over the place. Haha.
I am constantly amazed at just how bad I am, how hard it is, and that thrills me, because it's always my fault, I am not screaming at the game because of it's deficiencies or glitches, it is invariably due to my error, and spurs me on to try just that bit harder.
I've said it before, but i've never enjoyed coming last so many times so much! Once you truly connect with the driving experience, whether you come first or 51st makes no difference other than on a self-gauging level.
Overall it's the depth and complexity of the combination of variables which go to make up the driving experience which is the games strongest point.
And that does not just comprise the physics themselves, but the whole experience (inside car views, the sound - engine, wind, tyre - vibrations, track views and graphics, the other car views, and the physics itself)
One thing i would LOVE to see, would be the ability to actually walk around the car, like in an FPS, prior to driving it, then actually approach the door change to interior view, and maneuvre the car to the starting grid or out of the pits, or wherever. This would enhance the experience so much!
