I'm just not sure anymore. I will get it, but right now, sony just shot themselves in the foot. Out side of hardcore fans, people will see this as just a big joke, and GT5 will lose sales. This is absolutely disgusting.

Well there goes EB Game's "Turismo Tuesday" stunt. Their going to have to make it 30 more weeks of the countdown on their website.

I did kind of chuckle when I saw that tho. lol, I was like wait a sec... they're still showing "ships 11/2/10" at gamestop, they should change that, unless they know something we don't lol

With the whole GT4 delay fiasco, i'm not surprised it was delayed. And hell yes i'm still going to purchase it day one.

My pre order is already paid for, so why not still go pick it up. Would be nice if PD gave people an incentive that pre ordered, or bought the game within the first month of release. Maybe a new race car, some more DLC cars, or something like that.

I will still get the game but I will never look at p.d in the same way ever again.
I hope the game delivers because if not the bad press it will get will kill the franchise.

Not buy Gran Turismo 5, and miss the opportunity to drive my newly discovered love in GTPSP, the '69 Isuzu Bellett 1600 GT-R. Not happening.

If this is a bug fix, then by all means fix it before the release; I'd hate to see a repeat of the F1 2010 disaster. I'm sad, but I can wait...again.

Polyphony is a joke of a developer... 5 years, come on. LOL. Im honestly about to sell my PS3..../

That "joke" developer somehow listened to nearly every fan request (dynamic weather, damage, day/night cycles ect). I don't think that it's that big of a deal to give them the time needed to make sure the game is polished properly considering all the content it has. There's no doubt that we all want the game and so the delay is upsetting, but to act like Polyphony is a joke is completely off base.

I would have to agree, I mean all these people compare forza to GT, GT5P is better than any game out currently as far as a "sim" is concerned. GT 5 has 1000 cars 70 tracks and to much other stuff to list and even GT5P has nothing on GT 5 final release, GT5 looks like a completely different game looking at GT5P currently because PD did listen to everyone. Kaz kept all the old cars everyone loved + added new ones in, if he had it his way every single one of them would be at the "premium" level. They already stated that the game has pushed the PS3 to its limits currently, They added weather/skid marks/Air Density/rain/24 hour races/16 player online races/drag racing/track creator/dirt effects/karting/nascar/WRC and much much much more, what more can people ask for? It's like the saying goes, you truly can't make everyone happy, because kaz damn sure tried with everything he had, and people still complain, this even if released in 11' would be the best "sim" game for years to come and we'd all still be playing it in 13 while they are developing 6.

I don't get why the release date has any relevance to the purchase of a game (beyond timing due to money or for parties/whatever). The game is going to be amazing, why does the specific day its released affect your choice to buy it?

If its released on a Monday but not on a Sunday, it doesn't alter the quality . Really, why does it matter so much to some people?

If people are so shallow that they will cancel their pre-orders or not buy it altogether because of a delay, I say good riddance. Have a nice day. Now maybe those of us that are patient enough to wait can enjoy a decent racing experience without being plowed into a wall because you're pissed at a game's delay and feel like taking it out on someone else.

Right because PD never said they wouldn't announce a release date untilled they are ABSOLUTELY SURE they can meet that deadline. Oh wait, he did. I'm close to saying 🤬 PD. I appreciate the passion and time they put in but the game is done. It can be patched later. They've finally announced a release daate after spending a rediculous amount of time making it. Just release the GD thing already. There really are no video excuses for this 🤬 up and pissing your customers off Is about the worst thing a company can do before the product is even out.

For the record I have the ce preordered but I'm canceling it and using the money to buy moh tomorrow to pass the time till they finally release gt5. Then ill pick up the regular edition. If u think its shallow that's your issue. For me its a a financial decision. No sense leaving my money down on a game that isn't going to release till who knows when when I can use the money to get a game now that I want.

Sony NZ is sending me a copy as soon as they get them so it really doesn't matter what i think

Heh, so "absolutely sure" means 100% definite now? Absolutely sure says 90%+ certainty to me, but by no means does it make anything definite, it just means they will try to meet that deadline.
You have every right to be disappointed that they missed the deadline but they have no duty to release the game at any particular point. They could release it in 2013 and people would still buy it (and it would still be awesome).

You should know better than assume a release date is concrete, its simply an objective, and objectives can be missed and changed. This applies to anything. I would advise anyone to keep the faith and buy this game ASAP though...getting hot under the collar about release dates is pointless, the game is worth any and all waiting.

I think the phrase is cutting off your nose to spite your foot. Yes, we're all annoyed at the constant delays and the tomorrow never comes release dates but the only person that not buying it would harm is yourself, because you'd miss out on the exact game you're annoyed about not getting Nov 2.

For the record it's been 5 1/2 years since Vision Gran Turismo was demoed at E3 2005 (remember that cool video with all the pit stop guys running around the cars). If nothing else PD are surely setting records for the longest development time for a game in the history of computing? Reminds me a little of the Itanium, going to be the next big thing in CPU technology and by the time it came out (about 18 years late) it was an also ran and quickly died.

Nearly six years ago what was shown in that initial video was breathtaking, the likes of which had never been seen before. Today there are numerous games that if they haven't surpassed that they are certainly getting close. By the time GT5 is released let's just hope it's not an also ran compared to the other games/platforms available (Forza 6 on an XBox 1080 anyone?)

Unless you are some mad man fanboy any game would be dated within 3 years :P hell GT5's already 3 years old, the more it takes the uglier and dated it will look.

So you would rather they put out a game that has bugs in it that potentially drives people away and have it patched later? That opinion is fine, obviously, but on the flip side, I'd rather have a game that I can play right away instead of having to download a 4Gb patch first. I don't know about you, but when I crack open a new game, I'm like a kid on Christmas morning - I want to play, I don't want to have to wait!

I get that you're pissed at the delay, and I'll be honest, I am a bit, too. The difference between myself and a lot of other people in this thread (and many others) is they are pendulums. When things are going good and we're getting updates and screenshots, they're all happy campers. We get a little hiccup like a(nother) changed release date and all of a sudden it's "🤬 PD!" All I'd like to see is a bit of common sense (see pic below :D) and understanding that all the complaining in the world isn't going to change a single thing and at the end of the day IT'S A GAME. Contrary to popular belief, it's not the end of the world.

From my perspective, you fit into that group of people that are annoyed enough to cancel but not walk away from it completely. I'd be willing to bet that a fair number of the complainers throwing out comments like "I'm going to sell my PS3 and buy Forza", etc. end up with GT5 in their possession. You canceling your preorder because there is another game you'd like - that's completely up to you and, again, I completely understand where you're coming from. Personally, I don't have anything of interest being released (and with the family I don't get much playtime anyway) so the CE preorder stands.

Another fair and reasoned response.

Well, no, it would harm Sony and PD as well as it's one less sale. Multiply it by however many people end up doing that, and maybe they'd realize some people won't stand for this current crap?

It's already ahead in some aspects, and behind in others. This "total domination" some members are on about is always funny for that reason. Speaking of time, I still find it endlessly entertaining that someone could have gotten a Masters in the time it's taken for PD to complete a freaking video game. Actually, they'd have plenty of leftover time after getting it.

That's assuming that

a) this delay is strictly about a nasty bug or bugs, and the fixes required.
b) that the final release copy won't have bugs either.

Apparently complaining does change things; we got damage ;).

I think at this point, the expectations are so high for GT5 that it can't possibly live up to them. I think when reviews come out, they might take into account the dev cycle and the budget of the game, and that will work against it. Also, releasing it after mid November is just a very bad idea. Look at the line up. You have COD, Assasin's creed, NFS all coming out around that time. GT5 is very big, but it can't touch the afformentioned games simply because of how relevant they are to this generation of gaming. I dont know why the game was delayed, but if it was to fix minor bugs, it would have been best to release it and patch it. Get the game out there, get your sales up, and then continue working on the game.

Ok i'm probably going to buy it anyways but the way i feel right now if the game dosent come out this year or a day later than 2010 i will get my 100 bucks back and invest in a modchip, pirating the game. What PD pulled off today was a disgusting act, just 3 weeks left and all the countdowns. you had a project PD and the deadline was nov 2, havent you learned in highschool that you have to spend time wisely to finish something? how can they get away with this? oh one more month, one more month! This is the last one i swear!

Honestly for me this works out better. I was waiting to buy my TV around black friday for a good deal and now I can. It sucks to have to wait for GT5 but this does give me some more time to save up for the 46" Samsung TV I have been planning to get. I would've hated to have GT5 on my current 19" crappy little tv but I would've dealt with it.

That's assuming that

a) this delay is strictly about a nasty bug or bugs, and the fixes required.
b) that the final release copy won't have bugs either.
And until we know the actual cause of the delay, a bug is certainly a viable option.
Apparently complaining does change things; we got damage ;).
Yeah! Damage!

Meh.

How can you say that? It may be a long time, but they also had to make GTPSP and GT5:P during the process for us. And reviews really should not affect a consumer, you play the game because it's more than a game, it's an experience. Not many of us have drifted a Ferrari. (have any of us?) But why would the reviews be bad? It'll be near top-dog for racing Sims, and PD can only be hurt by what they've already promised us.

Oh yeah, I'm happy the delay happened again.
