I was pretty pissed when I first heard the news. Then I let it sink it, and for a few moments, it even happened to slip out of my conscious thought.

Now ... I don't even know why the hell I was pissed? There's so much awesomeness abounding in November and leading through the end of December, that it's not going to be bad at all. If the game had released on November 2nd, i would've probably skipped on quite a few social events associated with Thanksgiving, and of course, Christmas.

Now, those holidays will have my undivided attention and hopefully the game will release around Christmas. That way, during those depressive weeks after the holidays, i won't be so miserable after all.

Not to say that I'm happy there's been a delay ... BUT, it's not the end of the world and I've come to accept it as such. Should Sony/PD get ****e for doing this to the fans? They sure should.

Will they get it from me by NOT buying the game? No, I fully plan on buying it when it's out and using it to keep me entertained during the boring-est months of the year: January-March.

Im not gonna lie and say im not gonna get it, but i'll probably wait a week or two just to give PD a taste of their own medicine.

I hope this catches on.

haha ... you know what people will say to that "you do that, and we'll be racing"

novel idea, but i don't think you'll get much support for it on this website. :)

I think at this point, the expectations are so high for GT5 that it can't possibly live up to them. I think when reviews come out, they might take into account the dev cycle and the budget of the game, and that will work against it. Also, releasing it after mid November is just a very bad idea. Look at the line up. You have COD, Assasin's creed, NFS all coming out around that time. GT5 is very big, but it can't touch the afformentioned games simply because of how relevant they are to this generation of gaming. I dont know why the game was delayed, but if it was to fix minor bugs, it would have been best to release it and patch it. Get the game out there, get your sales up, and then continue working on the game.

Not bigger then NFS... are you insane? releasing at the end of the month would actually be a better move then on the second.

GT is not bigger than NFS. NFS has all the glamour to it that casual gamers love. Also, it is twice as big and much older than GT.

Obvious conspiracy. I had no intention of buying any other game for a hell of a long time after Nov 2. Whats the point? GT5 takes a while to 100% complete, even then there's certain cars you want to drive in certain events.
I'm still not getting any other games until this comes out. Cause when it finally does you couldn't pay me to play any other game.

Still hanging on to my pre-order, but this is the last time I take release dates seriously.

older yes... no NFS game this gen has sold more then GT5P. The best selling NFS game wasn't even close to GT3 the best selling GT game. You are way wrong on this one.

wrong. shift has sold 4 million copies alone (albeit on all platforms combined ) while GT5P has sold around 2.5 mil. Also, NFS as a series has sold 100 mil copies.

Biggest NFS game this gen NFS shift= 3.75 both systems
only gt game this gen= GTP= 3.89 one system
biggest NFS game ever NFS underground 2= about 9 million spread across gamecube,xbox,ps2
biggest GT game GT3 = 14.89m on one console... I think that is a good indication which is bigger

I'm in the 'Not Sure' category. I have just now gone and cancelled my SE preorder and if I do end up getting the game, it will just be the standard edition.

Feeling REALLY gutted at the moment.

Shift may have sold 4 million across not just xbox and ps3 but it was also released on pc and the wii and psp. And gtp has sold about 4m. Yea NFS has sold that much its been out way longer and has many games released across many platforms.....

I guess our measure of success is different.

I'm totally not getting it until it's released, than I'll get it.

This thread is funny, can't wait to look back at it after the game finally does hit shelves.

Prologue is nearing 5m sold. You can check Polyphony website for the data to back it up. As far as how many NFS has sold in total, there are 4 full Gran Turismo games in comparison to 15 full NFS games. So it's kind of expected that NFS will have sold more overall. But on a game by game comparison, GT is more popular than NFS. The lowest selling mainline GT game is GT2 and that sold nearly 10m.

there has been 16 different NFS games released on all major platforms since 1994, of course over that time they would sale more then GT. But you said more popular and relevant now and thats just not true. NFS is very successful but it can't scratch the numbers GT puts up on one console. Success was never what was up for debate, which game is bigger at this time was.

And then start cross-referencing* who constantly complained here and then later posted that they 1) need help with something or 2) are looking to race online and want to meet up.

At which point daan will have a field day!

*and working at a library, daan is awesome at cross-references. :trouble:

If I'm not surprised a game I have been waiting for has been delayed again, then I am still getting it.

Its frustrating, no doubt ... but i dont think , after 05 years of waiting time, somebody would just give up because of some delay weeks... I´ll buy it, whenever it comes out... the delay does upset me..but its not a strong reason for me... to give up...

TB
I get that you're pissed at the delay, and I'll be honest, I am a bit, too. The difference between myself and a lot of other people in this thread (and many others) is they are pendulums. When things are going good and we're getting updates and screenshots, they're all happy campers. We get a little hiccup like a(nother) changed release date and all of a sudden it's "🤬 PD!" All I'd like to see is a bit of common sense (see pic below :D) and understanding that all the complaining in the world isn't going to change a single thing and at the end of the day IT'S A GAME. Contrary to popular belief, it's not the end of the world.

;)

Wait, so are we supposed to get mad and say screw PD the first delay? Its called patience and it wearing thin. But, you're right though, complaining isnt going to get anything done, especially if they're still going to get paid. Thats why I suggest we wait a week or two before purchasing the game. Just to make a point. If we let one developer get away with it they will all start delaying games whole fiscal quaters all in the name of numbers.

Wow, I really do not understand why you would not buy a game just because you have to wait a little longer than you thought you would have to. I'm not buying this game because I think PD deserves it; I'm buying it because I like cars. Sounds to me like people are just having little tissy fits.

I'm still getting my CE, I want to be optimistic and think than now I have a lot of time to spend in FIFA 11 until I'll get my GT5 👍

Ive voted not sure and the reason is I'm actually not sure!

I got burned with GT on the PSP (buying HW day one based on the GT launch videos then waiting years for a mediocre game) so as of yet I haven't purchased a PS3, figured this time I would wait until GT actually released!

Now with the delays and only snippets of information being released I am going to wait and see what the reviews are like, see what the comments on here are like, and then make a decision on whether or not I need a PS3 and GT5.

If you look at the features it looks a must buy but then on the other hand we know very little about them. For example we know there is weather on selected tracks, but how many? Which tracks?

Sony and PD need to start delivering before they will see any of my money.

At some point you have to stop being a gamer and start being a consumer. People like you are the reason larger companies tend to 🤬 on the little guy, because there is always some clueless person willing to give them money no matter how bad the service is.

I'm not throwing shots at you, btw. I work for a major bank and listen to people complain all day about poor service(which they are right most of the time) only to continue to give to do business with us. I want to ask them why we would change anything we're doing if you're still going to give us money?
