I've waiting for a price drop on the G29 for months. Bought one this morning. I'm pretty happy about it.

I have a well worn T-80 wheel which I won't be using anymore. If you are in my area, (Canada, BC, Lower Mainland) and a member here, let me know if you want it. It served me well.

250 for this thing is a great deal, I paid $338 after taxes when I bought mine on black friday a year ago. Enjoy.

Personally, fairly good. The brake pedal is very stiff but its honestly a good thing once you get to it. Definitely a good cheap pedal for modulation. Although I do have a weird problem with calibration occasionally

I have no problem with them and think they're great tbh.

But I have no experience of any others.

GTS is my first ever racing game/sim (I'm old)

I have them attached to a playseat and they're solid and sturdy. I don't mind the brake mod but some do, though it is straightforward to remove*

* if you do that you need to remember to put it back in if it ever has to go for repair or your warranty is busted.

@Tidgney has a video on the set v t300.

I have had no issues with mine at all.

The GTEYE brake spring feels a lot better than the G29's rubber brake mod and arguably feels more natural. I had one in the G27 pedals and it transformed the feel. I imagine NIXIM is just as good but I've never tried them.

Definitely looking at getting another (left it in the G27) and possibly getting the accelerator spring too.

Tremendous price for an entry level FFB wheel.

Mine cost £200 when I bought my T150 three years ago and only now am I upgrading to a T300RS GT version.

had a g25 until 2012(modded it with a ford focus mk2 handbrake) until i got tired of having to sacrifice my already meagre space for a game device. No comparison to a joypad but gotta admit the DS4 is a damn good controller. Also my job means i have to move every few years or so and a steering wheel isnt exactly the best thing to pack and take around globetrotting.

What are the pedals like on a G 29 ?

They look nice and feel nice, the pedals themselves are stainless steel like the paddles. The brake is stiff compared to the throttle and clutch but you get used to it.

I really wish thrustmaster would actually come out with a load cell mod for all their pedal sets. Not just create a new super pro set and sell it for 400 bucks like that handbrake

Let's face it, what aspect of real life is actually controlled by tiny joysticks? Obviously, not cars. Not guns. Not planes (much bigger joysticks on real planes!). Not walking/running/jumping. Not even computers (the mouse and the trackpad rule).

Now, why do you think that is?

It is because our bodies lack the fine motor skills to accurately control anything with a tiny joystick without massive background input smoothing and interpretation. And, especially for the life critical things like driving and flying, there just isn't the technology yet to 100% reliably interpret jerky thumbstick motion into the actual motion needed to survive!

So, if you want to feel like YOU are actually driving, not some background routine taking your jerky thumb input and trying to guess what you actually intend, or smoothing out your jerky input and restricting it to what could actually be achieved with a wheel IRL, a wheel is the only way to go. Do you want to KNOW it is you driving, or don't you really care as long as it LOOKS like you are? 💡

I wonder what the question would be like if wheels hadn't spiraled upwards in price so much? GT5P/5/6's official wheel was the DFGT. Which sold for usually well under its $150 RRP. Got mine for not much more than $100 brand new. Lasted forever (anybody want one?!), did the job quite well, good FFB.

The cheapest GTS FFB wheel now is the T150, with an RRP of $199. The 'official' GTS wheel is the T-GT with an insane price of $799 RRP. A G29 will set you back around $199 with an rrp of $399. That's basically a near doubling of wheel costs inside one generation of games.

Maybe the question ought to be, would you buy a wheel if they cost what they did in the PS3 years?!

The point you make rings true for me. I always thought it would be fun to race with a wheel and pedals, rather than my controller. At $400+ it just never seemed worth it to me, because I still get by ok with my DS4. So, it's been a matter of value.

I recently saw a holiday special for the Logitech G29, marked down from $400 to $199. I finally convinced myself to go for it, because I know I've plateaued with the controller. The biggest thing for me is the pedals. I never got comfortable using the trigger buttons on the DS4 to modulate gas and brake inputs, so I've always used the X and Square buttons, which is pretty much the worst way you can do it. I'm also a pilot, so I understand the value of making smooth control inputs. I should be able to lower TCS to 1 or 0, which will likely be faster.

I realize there will be a learning curve, and I'm gonna suck at first, but since I've now spent the money, I'll have to spend a bunch of time working on it. My next day off is Thursday, so I'll set it up then, and find out what this wheel thing is all about.

You'll love it.

The transition isn't at all difficult if you drive. I found the wheel slightly more difficult for steering rather than brake & gas. I must throw the controller round more than feels natural with a wheel

The biggest difference I found/find is consistency, it's far easier for me to be consistent on the wheel.

The G29 is pure awesomeness. I've had it since yesterday and I am already getting used to it. I personally recommend to try it out with the sensitivity and FFB on max. You definitely get more control over your car and can countersteer properly. I couldn't buy the Driving Force Shifter but the paddle ones were a good enough alternative.

Wow Wow Wow Wow, hold your horses now. The T150 is far from terrible, just like with other controllers, you have to use it and not abuse it. I've had mine for over a year now (actualy since OKT 18, last year :-) ) and it is still as good as when I unboxed it. The ffb is great. The only downside (as with other pedal sets) is that when placing them on a hard surface (smooth stone floor) it tends to slide away when you apply pressure so you have to make sure it cannot move away or else you'll find yourself on the floor grabbing the pedals while the rest of the contenders disappear in the distance or you rocketing off track because your car lost all braking capabilities

I said that the cheap plastic pedals of the non-pro T150 are terrible, not the wheel itself
So my point is, much recommended to spend a bit more and get the T150 Pro with the T3PA pedals (which are good and won't break)

Got my DFGT to last 8 years with just minor fixes (paddle shifter switch replacement, careful cleaning of the pedals) and maintenance (cleaning with soft detergent solution once a month, regular vacuuming of the pedals) from GT5P through to the end of GT6. $200 over 8 years... $25 a year. One bargain game title's cost per year.

TBH, if I hadn't got my T150Pro before I knew about the conversion dongle (Drivehub) I might still be rocking that wheel for even longer..! But I have to say, I'm digging the T150Pro's pedal set. MUCH better than the DFGT pedals.

Totally the same here. Previousy had the DFGT - great value, was happy with it considering the low price, except it didnt have proper paddle shifter, and the fact it didnt work for PS4 so I sold it.
Now I have T150 Pro. I'll add some data here:

Why?

Because Logitech, Fanatec and Thrustmster had the brilliant idea to have different wheels for different platforms. Or is it the fault of Sony/Microsoft? Whatever. Whoever is responsible for this, they suck.
I don't even know if the little cronusmax drivehub is good to use my Logitech G920 on ps4.

The good old days of my Fanatec CSR being compatible with pc, ps3 and x360 are gone.
