Do you think GT will EVER end

GT is a product and will end when it stops making money.

The OP does seem (to me) to want it to end or be done with some day. I mean if it is the case or not, they could always ignore the existence of the game and thus it will have "ended":sly:.

GT is in the same league of immortality as Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, etc. They've all built an undying fan base that will buy the games no matter what.

^ this

Though I could be all technical and say it will end one day either due to a massive shift in technology such as driving is no longer an essential or cultural part of humanity. Or humans all die out in a horrible horrible fashion...

As for the world of video games, I don't see it ending for better or for worse.

*Phew* I'm sure glad I'm not the only one who thought this anymore. :)

You're very right on this one. ;)

The poll confuses me.

The way it's worded, the word "EVER" is strictly emphasized and the answer is yes that it clearly will end because everything will.

As far as video games goes.. Yes that will end as well. So no matter what it's going to end.

It confuses me that so many people have answered "no" it will NEVER end.

I mean, it'll most likely end before your life does. It won't keep making money as somebody's gonna come along and do better before too long and GT will be obsolete.

That's just how the whole world works. Things go out of style because they can't keep up. At some point everything falls behind.

So yes GT will end. No matter how you look at it. Poll is ridiculous

EDIT: I will say that it will last a while though. It has such a strong fan base that it'll end about the same time as COD and Uncharted and Madden and other huge franchises.

It is obvious it will end, as will everything else. I still voted NOT though. :sly:

GT is the most popular racing sim and racing game in the world. Only other racing franchise that comes to mind is NFS. GT series is right now 70 million mark http://www.polyphony.co.jp/english/list.html

As long as racing games, sim are there. GT is going to be as well. May be Kaz will retire and some of other senior member will do it or something like that. Also as long as Sony is making games, PS it going to be there for sure :)

There are good chances other racing franchise will come and go but chances for GT are probably the least

Very well put. I'm right there with you. 👍

There's always new/more cars to add, new tracks to add, new features and also constant improvement of the game through new generation of consoles. So though it obviously won't last forever, there's no reason why it should end really...

Apart from current enthusiasts, the reports are that new generations of young adults just aren't as into cars as their predecessors, so there's every possibility GT as we know it will cease, simply because relatively few will be interested in contemporary electric cars in the way the baby boomers were interested in displacement and muscle.

The one thing binding those two ends of the timeline, though, is the heavy focus on image in the marketing applied (damn propaganda experts with nothing to do). I'd say people are just as interested in cars as they ever were, and still only for the "wrong" reasons... ;)

There seems to be a lot of questions asked in this forum that none of us could possibly know the answer to.

Except this question has an obviously correct answer of "yes".

It may not end because of the series getting surpassed by other series such as Forza, but it will definitely end at some point for any number of possible reasons.

That's all well and good, but the thread and poll are asking whether the series will EVER end.

And the answer to that question is definitely "yes". Whether it ends due to waning interest in AAA console/PC gaming, or from cars becoming obsolete in the far future, or from mankind becoming extinct, or from the universe ending... GT will definitely end at some point. The series could go on for another 10, 25 or even 50 years. But it definitely won't go on forever.

Judging by what the thread starter/question asker :D said in the OP, he didn't define it that way:
I just wondering If so. Because it looks like. It won't I guess they will make GT7 - GT8 for ps4 and GT9-GT10 for Ps5.

But yes, you're right, obviously all things must come to an end (like the Sun and our galaxy).

Nothing he said in the OP alters the question he asked in any way. The only definition of his question he provided is in the thread title: "Will GT ever end?", and the poll question with the extra emphasis on "ever": "Do you think GT will EVER end".

Never!!!!!!!

If Nissan stops making the GTR, GT will end :p

It will. Doubt it'd be in like the next 5 years or anything but it will. Kaz will step down, less people that worked on the first GT will work there, then it'll be modified to reach a wider audience, diluting why us enthusiastic fans love it, making it fall under categories with NFS etc becoming eventually just another car game that isn't worth waiting 5 years for each instalment when others like Forza, NFS are all pumping out car games every other year.

I think Kaz is more likely to die before he'd step down, but yes... As much as some people here love to berate Kaz, GT will likely go south pretty quickly once he's out of the picture.

There's a small chance that the series could end up in the hands of somebody who really gets it, in which case the series could continue to be great. But the odds of it being whored out COD/NFS-style in favor of money over quality are much higher, I think.

I'll vote for Keiichi Tsuchiya and Manabu Orido as the next GT Director/Producer :D

Not until Kaz believes his mission is complete, to model and complete every Nissan model and concept in existence.

Nah, he'll just invent new ones.
