No I'm not going to update, because I lent GT5 to my cousin the last 5 months and I got it back yesterday. So basically I know nothing about hybrid and hacked stuff. I could try some if still possible.

Right, okay. Yeah I can see the need for them in the game.

So is she like a tuner car?

More like a upgrade from the standard falcon with a bigger motor and a turbo and heaps more expensive.

Google the fpv xr8 you should be able to find the stats.

Good idea, this topic has gone far enough off-topic. I am interested though, never knew about FPV until now.

I wonder now that the hybrids have been hacked from this small update, with no real indication of what has been "fixed" from the update log, I wonder if there will just be server side maintenance without an update on Thursday. Speculating again, I know. But do they usually do two updates in two maintenance periods so closely together like that?

I understand that the hybrids were an exceptional case, so it's possible that there may be something else to come.

I'll be updating. I think this will be for the overall benefit of the game. Those who just want their cars modified outside of the games normal parameters can still do so by not upgrading. I understand it is fun to play around with hybrids but the integrity of online racing was affected too much.

I'm really glad we won't have to worry about hackers now (at least for a while, since it's possible that someone will figure out a work around), but I still think it's sort of a dick move on PD's part that they did this out of the blue (but what can I expect anyway? That's how they do everything) without giving people a fair 'heads up.' Even just a week's warning would've been nice.

I didn't mod cars myself, but had a good few friends that became passionate about creating amazing tasteful project cars that were really fun to drive. And it wasn't just engine swaps, but people were doing whole chassis swaps, making cars with horrible sounding engines sound much better, fixing MR center-pivoting, shifter karts, etc. All that work's just been taken away. Yeah, one could argue that the modders were taking a risk and that it was inevitable that PD would patch it up, but still, some of these guys had legit hours put in.

This was a blow that GT5 didn't need though. The game was going through a resurgence because of this, people I hadn't seen in a while were coming back due to renewed interest in creating custom machinery. Hell, even a healthy number of new people picked up GT5 just because of this "feature" as well. Now, a lot of those people are gonna be closing up shop and I don't blame them.

I believe PD should've just added a new security patch for online and seasonal play so that people wouldn't be able to go online with modded cars. Let people do what they want with their garages offline, I don't think it's any harm at all at this point.

I'm going to be updating for sure, since I wasn't invested in modding at all. While I am glad that we don't have to worry about hackers in public lobbies now; It's still bitter-sweet though.

They gave a warning 2 - 3 weeks ago.

NOW TO SPECULATE ON UPDATE 2.

FPV dlc coming?? *Pleadface

Bathurst DLC

So what happens in the second update?
-Remove stage 4+5 parts, NOS, SS, (C) + (V) tyres etc...?
-Remove secret menu?
-Give us DLC for stage 4+5 parts, NOS Tyres etc...?
-Give us possible Engine swaps + chassis conversions in game?

Not for now. I love my wingless cars and my sound fixes, those were the cars I've spent time on the past weeks, just to lose it all now?

It's a shame not being able to cruise with friends online anymore, but with non-modified cars it's way less fun anyway, so I'll gladly take this as a cut to end my GT5 online play and most likely my GT5 playing overall soon.

Also, a friend told me it does delete most hybrids, but ironically it leaves the hidden tuning parts on the cars which are what I'd much rather consider 'cheating' than an engine swap. Well done PD.

Right now I wish the AUP allowed to swear.

Im just gonna put my Modded cars on a usb and update.
So now and then i can still go back and use the old account plus having a second PS3 also makes that alot easier.

I've never modded a car, nor been that interested in it, so of course I'll be updating. I'm glad they're doing something about it, but I only wish that they would consider embracing the idea. It's not like there aren't 'hybrid' cars in the game already, the two Cusco Scoobies, one RWD, the other 4WD. The FTO Touring Car is 4WD, whilst the street going one is FWD. RWD GTRs, the Shinobi Kenobi Corolla (or whatever it's called), the list goes one...
