Im just gonna put my Modded cars on a usb and update.
So now and then i can still go back and use the old account plus having a second PS3 also makes that alot easier.

Kinda won't work bro, you'll need to delete gt5 game data to play the hacked one, theb reinstall 2.12 to play online.

Lotta muckin about for a couple of rice civics and x2010s

That was just a warning about using modded cars online, not that PD was planning on eradicating all modded cars in an update. Not what I was getting at, so my point still stands.

Your point is flawed and poorly made. Why are PD expected to give any notice whatsoever?? People hacked their game without notice, so expect PDiddy to shut it down without notice. And frankly, the writing was on the wall, your fault if you didn't read it...

I really do hope this acts as a positive slap to PD's face on just how far their players are willing to go in order to drive their cars how they want to. We had it better than Forza! Forget paint and limited engine swaps! We could do virtually anything with our cars.

They should know better now and should really look at customization as a seriously important feature for the future.

That's about as uneducated and ignorant as it gets, and the thing is, PD kind of show they share this opinion, by removing simply everythng that is modified forever from your garage.

JamboGT
Definitely updating, can maybe get a good list of decent lobbies again now.

I had a decent lobby going on earlier. Just myself and a couple other guys running on voted tracks with whatever. At one point, there was nothing but Lamborghinis in the race. It was nice to enjoy myself like that on GT5 again..

meh this sucks, hybrids were the only thing that got me back into GT5 after a looong break from it. guess the game will be back collecting dust on a shelf..

Sofar the things that arent effected as ive found sofar are as follows.
Painted race cars and any other paint restricted cars remain as is.
The 5G is still there.
The JP flag X1 is invisible but freeze's your system if you drive it, Thanks for that PD.
Wheel & body color samples are uneffected and return to They're own stock setup.
All tires are still usable (C) & (V)

Every thing else reverts to normal.
Note i have tried the money hack yet.

Agreed. I liked using my hybrids in the seasonal events against the AI, but I can't do that now that I updated. It was also cool using them in cruise lobbies. So yeah, good riddance to this game now. It can go back to being forgotten.

I'm not uneducated, I know exactly what has been going on in terms of 'realistic' hybrids and the whole way it happened was stupid.

If the entire GT5 community worldwide pulled together and petitioned to PD, I'm sure they would have spoken on the subject and proceeded to do something.

But no, you had to HACK, I repeat HACK the game to get what you wanted. And that my friend, is why this update took place.

Essentially PD have issued a online ban to players who want to use hacked cars.

Now you have a penultimate choice. Use hacked cars with one other person. Or use the cars supplied with your friends and associates.

Remember, this is a DRIVING SIMULATOR. That means it simulates Real Cars. Not the fantasies of those who want a Slammed VW with -50 Camber or a Dodge Charger with Camaro SS RM wide tyres.

And now onto my final point. If you point out the RM and TC cars, they are fantasy versions of real cars GIVEN AS A PRIVELAGE to us to use. If you want to use other cars with other cars parts then go make your own game.

bahahahahaahaha

omg man, wow, you are something else.

I guess I'm also privileged (nice education btw, you spelt "prevelage" wrong) in paying good money for my copy of the game and I should feel that it's more of a service than something I own?

Boy, was I being disrespectful in the past, I had no idea how lucky we were.

Another kicker in your post is that you say initially that you're aware of tasteful mods, but then go ahead and generalize later like the only people affected were those that did unrealistic mods.

What do you have against it? Are you just some sort of extreme purist?

Unless something good is added in the future I think I'll pass on 2.12. GT5 online is so unstable for me that I won't really miss it that much. I'd rather keep some of my favorite hybrids than get disconnected every 5 minutes or get wiped out at turn 1 thanks to someone who doesn't use the brakes.

Minibusa and HKS Drag car, you're safe for now.

1. PD would have done nothing. They have a pretty good history of ignoring what their fans want and, given the opportunity to work with what was done, the hacking, they have turned their backs on many fans.

2. A Twin Turbo 1500hp Gallardo is a real car, so is an M5 V10 powered Z4. Actually, most of the 'realistic' hybrids are based off real cars, not just random numbers and engines grabbed from nowhere...

1. I spelt privilege wrong by accident, as I'm using a android (although many of you like to dispel that excuse)

2. Camarp SS RM tyres on dodge chargers are not unrealistic as they are used in drag races irl. Also these VW vans can be seen at car shows as i have seen one in person.

3. No I am not an extreme purist. I just love my Gran Turismo, that i paid top dollar for, and I Dont want to be sharing the track with a bunch of nob-ends in Yellow Asparadrink RX7's, Super low R34 skylines and lancers, 1500 bhp GTR's and 7 second 1/4 Mile Holden Monaro's that weren't included in the game from day dot.

Now what?

Yeah, GT5 is now dead for me. I sold my racing rig a year ago, barely touched this game since, and hybrids brought me back, because it gave my inner gearhead a whole world to explore. GT5 was a half-assed game, and hybrids gave us everything we wanted GT5 to have. I think PD should have found another way, make have a save game file check before entering a public lobby? Allowing those who want to enjoy our mods with others the option of private lobbies. Shame the few 10 year old kids running around with 100000 hp civics and X2010s ruined it for all of us. Funny part is... They just be back to using the normal X2010 and Tank Car to annoy the **** outta everyone.

Yeah, I'll be updating. Hybrids got old very quickly and the novelty just wasn't there for me. I much prefer my normal cars.

Hell NO !!!
I am not updating :grumpy:
Messing with Hybrids gave me the best time with GT5.
Online or not ... I don't care.

I'll be updating so I can finally go into online lobbies without seeing these hacked cars, realistic or otherwise. I was sick of the sight of them.

I have some questions

If I update on my main account ( no hybrids ) will it update my hybrid account?

Also can I just delete the update on the hybrid account?

What happens if you reload your save from before the update, back onto your updated account?

Thanks

If that was all they wanted to do, they could have performed the checks they've patched in only when you try to use a car online. Cars in your garage could be marked especially (applied at runtime, not in the save) so that you and everyone else knows they're hybrids - the garage is automatically filtered anyway according to the room rules.

So, online rooms could have a "no hybrids" flag, set by default, so that those that want to use them and race against them can do so if they choose to. Of course, these checks easily extend to the seasonals, which is where the cheating problem was arguably at its greatest.

But no, they've got to do the angry Dad thing and break everyone's toys to remind us all who's the boss.

PD can continue to treat me like a criminal, but I know I've done nothing wrong, morally or legally. They could have embraced the wants of the community and cooperated with us to produce a system that prevents cheating in the places where it matters, and doesn't completely obliterate the reason so many people started playing the game again.

Instead, I'm being punished because they felt the need to stamp their supposed authority, (probably because Sony's PRs started screaming about brand image and piracy, the dullards.) In doing so they will have actively driven away customers, many of whom are not the sociopathic cheaters some opposed to hybrids seemingly like to assume they are. If anything, it's the sociopaths who will stay, because their particular kind of enjoyment (which, by definition, is at the expense of others) can still be expressed through many "legitimate" means in the game, so their fun isn't actually being stopped!

Perhaps PD / Sony should speak up about this, rather than pretend it's not happening.

If it's on the same console, updating one account updates the entire console.

Doesn't work that way. It runs through the game data

I love how some folk feel that it is PD in the wrong here and are bad for correcting the hacking issue with an update.

You know, part of me feels like I'm prepared to get a 2nd PS3 to house my hybrids... I have a separate account just for hybrids although I must stress that I've never raced any of them online; they were created simply for my own enjoyment for a variety of reasons... Some just to have a beautiful car that didn't sound like crap, some just to have some fun with - Toyota GT-One TS020 with a Honda HSV engine, but with similar bhp to the original, or a Toyota 2000GT with an V12 Vantage engine to name but two. My Stealth NSX GT500 could compete at Le Mans too - with equal power and less grip that even made racing the AI fun. :p

I do feel that had the less mature exponents of the hybrid "scene" not kicked themselves up the arse by running ridiculous cars in public lobbies, maybe PD would have let this go... but there's always that element in the human condition that will take things too far and try and ruin everyone else's fun. I also feel that there is a place in my life for hybrids and I'm going to have to consider my options... I can't say goodbye to online - I'm a GTP racer when all said and done, and that is my primary reason for GT. But neither do I want to give up my carefully thought out hybrids now - I've had a taste and I liked it, I admit. I mean, I also have a healthy life-style and eat low fat, low cholesterol, I don't smoke, don't drink... but sometimes, just sometimes, I want a massive steak with all the trimmings.

And what's more, I want it to actually taste like steak. (Lister Storm engined racing DB9, we salute you. :sly:)

Sony have zero influence on gameplay decisions, they just pretend a new GT from PD when the time come, regardless the gameplay.

PD is mentally stuck in 1997. They do not really care about what fans want. A tweet account is not enough.

Like many other people in the business they should have a blog or forum: ISI, SMS, Turn 10, SimBin, Kunos they all have their official place where they regoularly interact with fans/customers. As much as this fansite is doing, ( Gtplanet ) there is no official connection between gtplanet.net and Poliphony Digital.

PD wouldn't have any money to play with if it weren't for Sony, so Sony have everything to do with it as far as they're concerned. ;)
The DELEGATED development of Gran Turismo to PD. This is what I mean when they have zero influence, they could go to Kaz office and say, "ok screw you and all your Skylines, we want a new Gran Turismo, with livery editor, deep tuning, lots of euro and american cars" but they don't. They just delegate and count the money from sales.

If you showed PD/Sony/Dad some respect, he wouldn't break your toys.
