I just updated to 2.12 and my hybrids are still here! :dopey:

I think it was a GT5 update. :S

Edit: Stock Specs... 🤬

HELP! How can I get back at 2.11!?

Goodbye online... Like I ever gave a ... for it.

Pretty sure you need to delete your Game Data, then when it is updating just cancel out on the last update. That's how the people who do the borrow exploit do it.

And you are somehow under the assumption that those "nob-ends" are going to stop ruining your online games just because they have to use other cars?

What I want to know is how a yellow RX-7 is ruining his exprience.

Strangly, my Rio Yellow Pearl AEM S2000 is still there..

In this case (for the ones that updated to 2.12) , "we" need a list of the un-paintable cars that can be painted :dopey:

Er, no. I used a built in feature of the PS3 to get access to the save file. From there, I can do what I want with it.

Can you? Says who? The save game is not yours, it wasn't created by you and you agreed not to tamper with it when you agreed to the ToS to play GT5.

Be grateful PD didn't lock the save game file like some publisher do on other games :)

I wonder what kind of reaction would that be ?

Pretty sure the save file is his, as it was created by his PS3 and game he bought, and therefore owns.
So, yea, it's all his, I believe.

He doesn't own the game or PS3 software. He has a license to use it.

So now we're talking about a service rather than a product?

Right...

You're finally sticking up for PD for once!

GT5 isn't a digitally distributed title.

So? You don't own what is on the GT5 disc, you own a license to play what is on it. Just like when you buy a CD, you don't own the music on the disc. It's not yours to do with what you like.

No matter who owns the save file, publisher have the final say; they can lock the save file if they wanted. I have a few games with locked save files, there's nothing I can do about it.

GT5 isn't a service. GT5's online play is a service. They are perfectly entitled to prevent you from doing that, but that's as far as GT5's terms of service apply.

Just like when you buy a CD, you don't own the music on the disc. It's not yours to do with what you like.

You don't "own" the music, but it is yours to do with as you like; so long as the rights of the copyright holder aren't infringed.

I will be happily updating to 2.12 and be very happy that the days of 1000hp Civics are over. :)

I think that's the best thing that has come out of this update. The overpowered cars are gone.

10,000bhp is overpowered. 1000bhp is just enough.

Hybrids made GT5 a very unique game for the PS3 and gave me (and many others) a reason to enjoy it again.

Back on the shelf it goes .

"This software is LICENSED for play on authorised Playstation 3 systems. All unauthorised access, user or transfer of this product or it's underlying copyright and trademark works is prohibited".

You don't own the contents of the disc. You own the disc which gives you a right to play the cotent on it, under their terms.

And? The fact remains that the most they could do is prevent the player from playing online because that is the most they are able to do legally. You aren't breaking copyright by hybriding, and that's where PD/Sony's legal authority over personal use ends.

You don't own the contents of the disc. You own the disc which gives you a right to play the cotent on it, under their terms.
You own the disc that gives you the right to play the content on it under whatever terms you want; and they have the right to restrict access to services in response to that. See: Nintendo vs. Galoob. They do not have the right to dictate personal use of the product beyond the services they provide to complement it.

Really, can you stop to imagine how the world would be if copyright holders could? Seriously.

Well all this stemmed from him saying it was his save file and he could do with it what he likes. Well technically yes that is true in the same way you can upload your CDs to a torrent site if you want. So I guess what I should have said is yes, he can do with it what he likes but under the license agreements when he signed up for a PSN account he isn't allowed to modify the save game and make use of it with that account.

I'm pretty sure most of us can remember SOPA. :nervous:

Nope, i'll be staying offline, for now at least. I might update in a month or so when playing solo get's too boring.

But I wouldn't be suprised if hybrids come back in a month or two, the car data just got moved to the game data insted of save data from what I've read, if that can be copied to USB it's only a matter of time before someone decrypts it and locates the car data and hybrids start all over again. :)

Well you probably can with a hacked PS3 but that would severely limit the amount of people doing it in future.

If hybrid start all over again after ban threats and hybrid removal updates, PD might take it further by locking save game file, and it will be only jailbroken PS3 that can do hybrids. Only a handful of people will be willing and have the means to do so.

I am worried about save file lock, I still want to be able to back up my save, dupe cars, etc.

Human decisions were removed from realistic hacks. Hybrids begin to learn at a geometric rate.
They became self-aware at 2:12 update. Eastern time, April 24th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug.

I think that whilst many people have got some extra bit of juice out of the game from modding and hybridding and what have you, this is the correct response from PD.

Think about it from their perspective. If they sat back and did nothing, that is sending out a message that says "we are happy for people to mod and hack our game".

Even if they were happy to some extent to allow people to do it just "for fun" and not use hacked vehicles for any kind of cheating shenanigans, it would be such double standards from their part if they were only banning cheaters, not to mention I would guess it would be much trickier for them to actually determine between those doing it just for fun, and those cheating.

They pretty much have to take the stance that hacking is against the online rules, and for whatever purpose, it is not allowed. Therefore, whether it's only for fun or not, anything that is considered against the ToS should be banned. I really don't see how people have room to complain about this sort of move. The alternative is, as some people have been posting, is to give up your online capabilities.

People just want their cake and eat it too.

If you guys want everything you did in GT5 with the hybrids in a game, then make your own game..

Or if not, you can do like Orth said, and "deal with it".
