You missed the point entirely - I changed the GT-One because it sounded like crap. Same for the XJ13. The point was not to go faster but to enjoy the experience more. I'm not being pompous or self-righteous about it because its something I did in my own time and space without affecting anyone else. That said, I sympathise with PDs decision to institute this update and I'll continue to modify my cars offline for my own enjoyment as I see fit using my chosen method. That doesn't make me a good or bad person, its just my choice, see?

I am not either. I have two PS3s, so I'm using one without the 2.12 for hybrids, and one with it for online, therefore I couldn't care less.

It's interesting to see how the anti-modding faction will only discuss the issue of unlimited performance cars. I have yet to read a decent argument against PP limited cars or be shown proof that there is a real problem.

Cries that modding broke the HOLY TOS is laughable. Preventing paying customers from having a good time that doesn't harm anyone else isn't the point of a terms of service agreement. If you want to get technical, they are not providing me a service when I'm offline so therefore, I am not bound by that contract any longer anyway.

The action taken by PD is troubling to me. The lack of proper communication in general is also troubling. In the end though, I have decided to keep pace and play this out to see the full development of GT5. I know that patches are a precursor to a follow up title as every patch on the GT5 branch will be rolled back into the main code branch. Let's see if PD implement their own version of modding or if they keep trudging in the same tired direction.

The unfortunate thing for PD is that they're not gone. Hidden parts still exist and work. Stage 4 and 5 turbos, Tripple Plate Clutch and Racing Flywheels, Super Soft Tyres etc.

And even worse for PD the thing I imagine they wanted to primarally fix, it's still possible to illigally obtain DLC cars for free.

I really don't understand the point behind getting DLC cars for free. I mean, are people really that cheap that they cant afford a pound or 2 (or whichever currency you might use).

In fact, it's actually totally backward not to buy the DLC. If the argument is that people don't think PD have done a good job with the game and don't want to spend more money on it, pirating the DLC in effect is taking income away from PD, giving them less resources to do a better job next time...

People who think all modding is fixed are in for a big surprise. PD only did a minimal amount of correcting, nowhere near what was necessary to "fix" this supposedly huge problem. They fixed the obvious stuff, but left in much or all of the "tweaking" that really made hybrids perform. I for one am looking forward to building some more sleeper cars under the new hybrid regulations...lol.

I am against DLC in most cases, same for pd's case. Most of these cars could have been in gt5, some should have been already. And even then, we are still missing a lot of great cars. And you know what's worse, the standard cars. They have no place on a ps3.

PD has made enough resources not to screw over their fanbase by not giving them what they want. If people are able to get DLC that costs money for free, I'm all for it. Why pay for something when you can have it for free, it doesn't make any sense.

This goes double for PD, again the standard cars and not having the aventador or sesto elemente just because they know people will fork over extra cash for the aventador. Not me, I would have gotten it for free though if it was possible.

You need to earn the money you get from me, throwing money at the screen is retarded.

What about Fair Use?

"Fair Use" is the production of new content using someone else's work. Recording your race and putting it on YouTube (for free) without asking permission is fair use.

Which you can still do, hybrids or not. They just don't want you using them online, and they way to do that is patching them out of the production code base. You are still free to do whatever you want with older versions offline.

Hacking software to operate outside it's designed parameters is not fair use, it's reverse engineering and exploitation. Whether you personally gain or do anything online with an exploit is immaterial. Some people do, and therefore the developer must respond with code that can't be tampered with to comply with their half of the service agreement.

There was a time when developers ignored online exploits. And it was a terrible time to be a player, trying to decide who's using an aim-bot, wall-hack, resource cheat, etc... Trust me; you may feel slighted but it's better to have a cop on the beat. And I will re-iterate that the real problem here is that PD hasn't fixed all the holes and it took them so long to respond with even a half-measure.

However, you're missing the point. Just because you personally are "doing no harm" does not mean the exploits are not being used to do harm. PD aren't attacking people personally, they're trying to close holes to preserve the integrity of the online environment.

And as for offline, well... that's the whole point of this thread. You can do whatever the eff you want offline. Go for it. I have yet to see anyone complain about someone choosing to keep their hybrids offline. Get a second HDD and enjoy it; to each their own.
