Well then.. apparently the Hybrid-ing has begun. It's good that trading isn't enabled yet, so these won't be circulating around the community.
I predict jumped up Juniors and RR Stormers on steroids and crazy corvettes. :sly:

At least the lack of trading should mean a significant drop in the numbers of million-horsepower rocket sleds... people who want these cars are going to have to actively do it themselves.

If this means higher ratios of engine and chassis swaps, then good 👍

Hopefully PD would sort out the 'cruise missiles with wheels' before opening the trade market but then again, this IS PD we're talking about. :p

Nice description you have there.

But it's very accurate. :scared:

I got kicked from a lobby while I was winning a stock car race by 11 seconds. Ahh the joys of being an alien. :(

It exists, but not to the extreme of hybrids that were in GT5. People with jailbroken PS3s have unlocked stage 4 & 5 parts, but nothing PP limiting wouldn't be able to fix. Super Softs are reportedly back as well.
I hope you are wrong about hacking. If true, this will ruin gt6 online very quickly for those of us who race to gauge our abilities fairly against other racers without throwing unfair advantage into the mix. It's not fun getting blown away by someone using mods and tires that are not part of the game.

Why can't PD just add a maximum HP/PP and minimum HP/PP for a car to be allowed to participate online and in seasonal events? Example: A Red Bull can't go below *X* PP and can't have more than *Y* horsepower. That way, there can't be cars that have negative PP or unrealistic horsepower amounts. Yes, this would kill realistic hybrids (1500 HP Gallardos, 1200 HP Supras, etc), but it would completely eliminate the bad ones.

Also, maybe they could make it so the chassis code of one car can't be out on another car. Example: A Red Bull X2014's chassis code is "12345". The chassis code of a Fiat 500 F '68 is "55555". When you switch to your Fiat 500 F '68, the game checks to make sure your chassis code is "55555" and not something else. As soon as it recognizes another chassis code, it locks the car from being used in multiplayer or in seasonal events.

Now, we could trade cars since hybrids would be unusable!

I'LL BE RIGHT BACK, GOING TO POST THIS IN THE SUGGESTIONS THREAD.

I'm not sure how people are able to switch chassis, develop "super soft" tires, and any number of methods designed to cheat; but it seems to me that their time would be better spent tuning cars legitimately and learning to drive them. What satisfaction do these people get from winning a race that they had to cheat to win. Seems like an empty victory to me. Sort of like a 200 lb. bully beating up a six year old kid.

Sorry for the long post.

The past few days I've finally jumped online after finishing everything in GT6. So far I've had a wonderful time in rooms ranging from chill free runs to clean spec-racing rooms and even had a blast in a couple dirty rooms. The one sour spot I've had was in a particular clean room, and the story is as follows. I entered a room for street cars where the PP limit was set to 600 and the tires were unrestricted. I don't like running racing tires on the road cars, but I thought what the heck; there were no other rooms open I was interested in.

The first race was on Le Sarthe with no chicanes. I jumped in my Maserati Gran Turismo, with full weight reduction the horse power leveling off at about 620ish to be legal. The race starts, I get a little tangled in the field but no biggie. We got to Mulsanne and the host storms past me like I'm sitting still at my modest 210mph and just carries on with another guy ahead of me. At the end of the race, I'm 50 seconds behind. The guys started chatting about how they were topping out at 250 with their 800hp. What? I asked how they got so much and they said some cars get more power at the same PP. Great...

The next race was at SSRX. I grabbed the best car I could think of in a pinch, my Citroen GT Road Car. I ran it up to about 240mph and I couldn't keep the thing going in a straight line. Did a quick tune fix and jumped back on to see if it helped. I got to 210mph watching the speedo when I hit this guy in a Mercedes head-on going the wrong way. I typed that I was trying to set up my car, but it was too late and the race started. When we got to the first bend, I instantly lost rear grip like it never existed. Hopeless... The host wanted to run the same track again, so I tried doing another quick fix. This time the guy in the Merc was doing donuts and I couldn't avoid him at speed. I typed a piece of my mind. Another run wasted and the race started. I managed to get through half of the first bend when the rear suddenly decided that it was on ice again.

Anyway, they kept picking tracks with stupid long straights where they have the advantage of knowing which special cars to use, and for some reason I just kept at it and got more and more frustrated when I don't even really care about winning. Something in that room just got to me, kind'a like The Shining if anyone has read that.

Just because you "hack" doesn't mean you can't tune. And all modifications are reflected in the PP system, so as long as you run a tightly regulated room there will be no problems.

The PP system is one of the many things in this game that is broken, but hey what can you do? The game is still very young so we just have to sit back and wait for PD to fix fix fix, update update update.

Great stories. I'm trying to read through all these pages little by little. Some scary stuff. Regarding the PP question, does anyone run rooms where the limiting factors are HP and weight rather than PP itself? I think I would prefer that to get closer racing but I haven't seen it anywhere and I don't know how others would receive it online. I'd imagine something along the lines of, "Why don't you just use the PP? This room is lame. F' you host."

Usually PP restrictions give closer racing since it takes into account how well a car handles the power.

The key to finding quick online fun is to adapt to what is popular or at least popular enough. So if everyone uses PP, it will be best to go with it too. Otherwise people might have to retune their cars etc. and better go somewhere else. Generally the more narrow or exotic your set of restrictions is, the more trouble you'll have finding racers for it. And you want a choice of opponents so you can find the right guys for you. In most rooms & settings (not the few with only straights obviously) the driver will make the bigger difference, it's not all that important to have a perfect balance of performance to have fun and good racing.

I was in a race with another player at Rome. I was having controller difficulties on the last lap. The moment I finished 2nd, I was disconnected from the race. Not even two seconds later, I get a message being accused of a rage-quitter. "Quit because you couldn't win GAY" were his words.

There's a difference between being disconnected and rage-quitting in GT6. If you were disconnected, other players would see your blip on the map for five seconds, responding to no input and stuck at a wall if you were on a straight, standing still in one spot, then you would leave. If you abandon the race, the blip disappears at least along with your name, then it announces that you left if you indeed leave the room.

This just sparks for unnecessary hate and flame among some players, and it gets annoying if the same players see you again in another lobby and start talking trash. 👎

Good post. I experience this every other time I go into a room. People always seem to choose tracks with long straight or just flat-out take it to Route X. Quite annoying, since it just demonstrates that they only care about who has the fastest car and not who took on the track the best.

Tires (tyres) are restricted. I can' t use anything better than racing soft. So how are some people using super soft???
There is no "racing soft" restriction. There's race medium...and the next up is unrestricted. PD has also enabled simultaneous PP and HP limitations in a room. If for example the highest HP car at 450PP is 320, you just set them both up at the same time and voila, no hacking. Don't use race softs, set to race medium or preferably comforts or sports in my case and voila, no hacking.

You've got the tools this time to deal with it as a host, just a question of whether they catch on and how fast, and if anyone really cares.

My point was that the softest racing tire that I can use in any given race is racing soft. However, others have devised a method to use tires with more grip than racing soft, thus the term super soft. If this is incorrect, tell me please.

This is one of the reasons I like to host race car lobbies with no higher than sports soft tires. So fun. :)

No you're correct, hybriders have access to Racing Super Softs that you won't have available to you. In GT5 it was the same because in order to use racing softs in a room you have to set tires to "unrestricted". By hybriding you can open up a whole bunch of other tires (there were also C and V rated comfort and sport tires if memory serves) and with tires set to unrestricted, you can use any tire, even supersofts.

To combat this, restrict rooms to race mediums or less and no more supersofts. The C and V rated tires provided no advantage to my knowledge, just a little more grip in one direction and less in the other.

C tires gave more grip in corners, V gave more grip in straight-line acceleration. Also, cars come with C or V automatically. On some cars, they have C in the front, V in the back, or one tire type for the entire car.

I wonder how many players realize restricting to tires to racing mediums would eliminate the super sorts. Seems like a good fix. Does using super sorts cause the huge skid marks and blinding smoke that I often see during races?

No that's from massive wheelspin due to the excessive horsepower. You'd think with PD's new physics the wheels would just go red hot and lose all traction but that's not the case obviously. But yes, you can control tires by restricting to RM's. I believe a person's tire type is also displayed when they are online so if you have doubts you only need open their profile and it should be there, even RSS's.

Thanks for the info.

Had a few odd things happen online now:

1. Started race but car would not move no matter what.

2. Started race, car started in gravel alongside the grid.

3. Started reverse grid race, car was on back row of whole grid, with about 10 empty slots to the car in front.

As for people behaving badly, usual stuff. Last night got a decent 500pp road car track day room going with about 12 people, mostly the guys I usually race with, and a few strangers. Got d/c after a while and some Canadian guy became host, asked if we should change tracks, I jokingly replied "Don't ruin my room ;)" Next thing I got kicked from my own room. I searched it, obviously couldn't join, even if I wanted as I was banned, but it had dropped to 3 members. What a pointless show of authority!

The first time I ever went to an on-line MP room in GT6 was a few days after release.

There were a bunch of guys in there racing Zondas and whatnot at La Sarth. So a the start of each race, no one could see each other, but when it got dark, we all could see each others headlight, or what looked like ghosted out headlights from a 5th dimension or something.. We could all warp directly through each other, and the race stats still kept track of everyone's times and everything.

It was bizarre. I'm sure that's been fixed by now, although I haven't played much GT6 on-line.

I discovered having fun in rooms limited to Sport Med/Soft tyres, with newly purchased Stock cars only, now suddenly I have nothing bad to say anymore about online racing. GT6 at its finest for me now. (yes, one in 5 days will be an RS room, but if those RS only could only explore this more)

don't believe me? take a Ferrari Italia 458, stock sport-med tyres, and no ABS, you can even crank up the brake balances past 5, and it just does what you command it to do all over the London city race track. Drift? sure, do it around Big Ben. Scandinavian? no problem! do it after you decel safely from the long narrow straight. Weight shift? you bet! through each chicane.

it rewards players that warrant fine courteous driving, as those used to RS or other tunes, will find themselves in every railguard as you safely out maneuver them, for some fun clean racing.

People were happy to have joined this room, and the vibe was positive all around, esp seeing people stick around, learn from mistakes, it was just pleasant.
