Sorry for the long post.
The past few days I've finally jumped online after finishing everything in GT6. So far I've had a wonderful time in rooms ranging from chill free runs to clean spec-racing rooms and even had a blast in a couple dirty rooms. The one sour spot I've had was in a particular clean room, and the story is as follows. I entered a room for street cars where the PP limit was set to 600 and the tires were unrestricted. I don't like running racing tires on the road cars, but I thought what the heck; there were no other rooms open I was interested in.
The first race was on Le Sarthe with no chicanes. I jumped in my Maserati Gran Turismo, with full weight reduction the horse power leveling off at about 620ish to be legal. The race starts, I get a little tangled in the field but no biggie. We got to Mulsanne and the host storms past me like I'm sitting still at my modest 210mph and just carries on with another guy ahead of me. At the end of the race, I'm 50 seconds behind. The guys started chatting about how they were topping out at 250 with their 800hp. What? I asked how they got so much and they said some cars get more power at the same PP. Great...
The next race was at SSRX. I grabbed the best car I could think of in a pinch, my Citroen GT Road Car. I ran it up to about 240mph and I couldn't keep the thing going in a straight line. Did a quick tune fix and jumped back on to see if it helped. I got to 210mph watching the speedo when I hit this guy in a Mercedes head-on going the wrong way. I typed that I was trying to set up my car, but it was too late and the race started. When we got to the first bend, I instantly lost rear grip like it never existed. Hopeless... The host wanted to run the same track again, so I tried doing another quick fix. This time the guy in the Merc was doing donuts and I couldn't avoid him at speed. I typed a piece of my mind. Another run wasted and the race started. I managed to get through half of the first bend when the rear suddenly decided that it was on ice again.
Anyway, they kept picking tracks with stupid long straights where they have the advantage of knowing which special cars to use, and for some reason I just kept at it and got more and more frustrated when I don't even really care about winning. Something in that room just got to me, kind'a like The Shining if anyone has read that.
