3rd person (Chase cam) & cockpit are the only ones I really use. They're the best. 👍 And personally most of the cars I want at this point are standard.. the Oreca Vipers, ect. ect. So of-course!

I am with OP, I don't.

Some cars being standard makes me have no intention to own them, even cars that are really exotic and exciting IRL, like the Lister storm, Sauber C9, CLK GTR etc. Looking that those decade old modelling and texture work just kills whatever illusion of having a virtual garage.

Some standards do look poor but personally it never takes anything away from the game for me. Some of the games best cars are standards. On the other hand some standards look like they're straight out of the premium garage minus interior view, such as the Jaguar XFR. It does baffle me why some cars such as the Jag' XFR, Audi R8 LMS and (useless as it is) Veyron weren't made into premiums especially when you consider that every single car on the PSP GT game has an interior view yet when you carry your PSP garage over to GT5 arcade they don't get the interior view any more as cars such as the Audi R8 LMS and Veyron are GT5 standards.

I think they are worth their price many times. I mean, I've seen the Toyota GT-One for less than 3 millions, and we're talking about a car that´s superior to, for example, the almost 5 million Audi R10.
And for those who start the always annoying "this camera is better than this other one" war: camera choice is a matter of preferrance, for each individual, the best camera is that with which he/she is more comfortable or fast, and it doesn't matter if it's the roof cam, the chase cam, or whatever. So please don't start saying "x" camera sucks and is horrible to play with, because that'´s your opinion, and may not be what someone else thinks.

The only reason that I don't bother with Photo Travel is because I can't use Standard models in it. So, no, your blanket generalization isn't remotely accurate.

I also suggest you start a topic in this forum telling those people why exactly they are all out of their minds.

EDIT: I also hate that standard vs premium always degenerate into cockpit view users VS the bumper cam using master race.

So perhaps, if you hate the thread degeneration so much, you shouldn't be the one to explicitly start it. Just a suggestion.

I have bought a number of standards over a million. 2 cars Ive bought that are well over the million are the FGT way back for nearly 5 million, and yesterday I picked up the CLK-LM(formerly the CLK GTR) for ~3.9 million

The standards are well worth it. The whole 'Premium' thing is a nice addition and I don't let it bother me, except the FGT. That's just odd seeing as it's PD's own design.

Oh, and I'd cut my own face for E30/E36 touring cars, even if they were standard.

1. Standard cars look like they're running on a Wii
2. Premium cars also have a cockpit view, which is the best view if you want realism

Well seeing as the best race car of all time is standard (the Audi R8) i'd have to say yes it is worth it. The Sauber C9, Toyota GT 1, Lancia Stratos, BMW V12 LMR, Audi R8 LMS, BMW McLaren F1 GTR, the list could go on so yes yes YES.

Photomode should be removed from the game. You want to take pictures of cars, go get a camera and do it. Why people feel the need to take pictures in a racing game is beyond me. Why developers keep catering to this small sub community of non racing players that want a pictures and pokemon CaRPG is even further beyond me.

Cockpit view is casual eye candy, therefore it should be gone as well. Once you get rid of those two things, they're all standards. Which is the way it should be.

Absolutely false. The closest to real view on the game is what is being called bumper cam. For one simple reaon it is the most realistic. It actually has a visible and working rear view mirror.

But, point of fact, bumper cam on GT5 is not really bumper cam. It is more closely a cockpit cam, without the stupid, disk hogging, noob wreck inducing cockpit eye candy.

Well to be honest, for the longest time I didnt buy standard cars because I used Cockpit view only. I longed for something more from standard cars. I have since tried to embrace the "bumper cam". After doing so, I have to admit I still want a cockpit view from standard cars but using bumper cam with them has been a pleasure. There are some GREAT cars in the UCD. I have learned to accept them for what they are and enjoy them. YMMV.

The fastest of the Le Mans cars are Standard... (R92CP, GT-ONE, etc.)
The fastest (well, most powerful) road car is a Standard... (Bugatti Veyron)
The fastest rally car is a Standard... (Suzuki Escudo Pike Peak Version)
The Australian V8 awesome sedans are Standard... (both Holdens and the AU Falcon)
