Doesn't look very good, to be honest. Neither does SLR.
I need Dirt Rally in my life.

I don't think I've ever received a headache from watching pacenote symbols slide in and out of sight in a rally game until now. Such an unbearably jarring animation.
I'm not sure why to be honest, it just sort of happened. maybe it's because Milestone would be busy with the Seb Loeb game and Ride, plus whatever else they are cooking up.Looks like we'll be getting the full spectrum of rally games this year:
Arcade = WRC5
Simcade = SLRE
"Sim" = Dirt Rally (I put quotes because it's not fully sim yet, but they're aiming there)
And apologies if this has been discussed before, but why did Milestone give up the WRC license? Did they lose it permanently or it's just "rented" out to Kylotonn?
Ipswich mate, welcome back - fully with you on those points....Edit - and as I have to say everytime these days - don't base graphics on YouTube videos, YouTube butchers HD video with processing and compression, and also adds a 'darkness' to uploads. I am not saying PS1 games are amazing in real life just because on YouTube they look bad, what I am saying is a YouTube video will not represent the quality of the graphics as you see them on your eye on your TV (unprocessed, uncompressed).
Well this confirms what most of us probably expected, WRC 5 looks horrible. Arcade physics and insanely wide open stages. Dirt Rally wins..
They went onto making the Motorstorm games and then Driveclub. I still have WRC : Rally Evolved. Great game.what happened to Evolution Studios that did the WRC games for the PS2 they done a great job with those it its day and why did'nt they keep that going ? i probably will still buy WRC 5 just to add to my collection of WRC games from PS1-2 and 3
That video has already been posted loll.
I did not watch the full video.. but is there no cockpit cam?
I also have not seen cockpit cam for the Sebastien Loeb Evo game.
Surprisingly it looks pretty good in that video. The cars slide around more than in Seb Loeb Rally and there's a nice sense of weight. The narrower stage helps too (though still not narrow enough).
What boggles me is that these small developers can get great engine sounds, but PD with all their resources still fails to do so after 15 years...
The engines sound horrible to me, and not even remotely accurate. I agree about the physics though the car did seem to be sliding around a bit, I wouldn't say it looks great but it looks better than SLR which looks absurdly bad in terms of physics.
Both WRC 5 and SLR look very disappointing in general, at least compared to the likes of Dirt Rally.
Ah I wasn't referring to the accuracy (I don't watch WRC so I don't even know what the real car sounds like), but just the sound itself is way better than any car in GT. It's lively and raw like a race car. None of the rally cars in GT sounds any good.
It's not quite Codemasters level, but for a small dev I think it's alright.
The WRC license needs to be taken by a big Developer, I'm sick of these lame arcade style games.
I reckon Codemasters should drop their F1 license and get the WRC one. But that can be a double edged sword in itself because I quite enjoy the wide variety of off road disciplines (Rallycross, Raid, Buggy, Hillclimb) and I'm not sure if they will still be allowed to put those events in an official WRC game. On the other hand, PD did have the WRC license for GT5 (which they squandered badly) and it's ok for them to have other cars and tracks in the game. So maybe the WRC license is more flexible than F1?
Codemasters recently announced that they have got the WRC license, and if I remember the comments, they will also be branching out to cover the other race types you mentioned.I reckon Codemasters should drop their F1 license and get the WRC one. As I understand, The F1 license is exclusive only to that one Developer and its quite strict if I recall. The WRC license I believe isn't exclusive to One Developer as I recall it was with PD AND that other developer at the same time (can't remember their names, but they did the Moto GP games before losing that license).
