PS2 -
1. ATV offroad fury(came bundled with my PS2)
2. Fifa 2003
3. Stuntman

Crash Team Racing

That game was awesome! I used to play it for hours with my cousin. I would always be the Cortex guy and just use the red bottles the whole time. So much fun! 👍

Legendary game. Although it was perhaps their version of Mario Kart, it was Naughty Dog's finest.

First games:

  • Crash Bandicoot 2: A teriffic game in all, very popular and could keep you entertained for hours on end.
  • Gran Turismo: Well, I guess since this is a GT forum, all I can say is that twas a revolutionary game.
...And to this day I still have the Original GT in perfect condition.

3. Spyro the dragon(was really fun back then!)

:(, i'm still obsessed with that game, makes me cry:(

Montecarlo
V Rally, does anyone remember that game? i wonder what happened to it...

i had that game, can't remember it, but i vaugly remember V Rally 2, all i can remember is building your own tracks, and the music because it still works if i put it in a CD Payer

we won ours in a competition a little while they first came out, so we got a bundle of crash bandicoot, wipeout 2097, ridge racer revolution, tekken 2 and probably a few others i can't remember now.

we'd get a new game quite often and ended up with about 50, along with the playstation magazine that came out every month; had issues 9-81 from that.

Same as vattie, I bought it for Formula One, as I'd rented it and played the heck out of it several weekends in a row. It was quite simple to set up the cars, but the game could be quite challenging. You could create a 16-race season of randomly sectected tracks, which made it a lot more interesting, and set the number of laps for as many or as few as you wished. Great fun...I bought F1 '97 (Championship Edition) later on, but it was less fun, for some reason.

I wasn't mesmerized by Gran Turismo by this time, when GT came out in 1998. I wanted to drive the fastest cars, not "slow road-going cars", so GT was a fun time-waster at a buddies house...those arcade races could be fun. In early-2000, I received GT2 as a gift...this time, I was assured that I'd like it.

PS1: I think the first was one of the Tomb Raiders, then for christmas I got Resident Evil 2 and GT2. Long story short, I started playing RE2 in the dark and I couldn't go past the intro!!! I tried playing GT2 but the licenses pissed me off so I returned both games. Oddly enough, gt4's licenses STILL piss me off. I think I'm gonna buy both games now and try to beat them especially RE2. That intro with the ice cream truck, wicked.

PS2, I remember renting the system itself and Zone of the Enders from blockbuster, my god it blew me away and I bought it shortly after. First bought game...umm, can't remember.

In RE2? I think your memory is a little fuzzy. There's a 18 wheeler, but I don't recall a ice cream truck.

RE2 still gets my blood pumping though. Not even REmake does that for me anymore.

I noticed that too when I watched the intro for leon on youtube, BUT isn't there an opening right before that? At the very beginning I thought there was an ice cream guy who bites the truck driver?

I remembered my first ps2 games, Jack and Daxter and SSX tricky.

an ice cream guy who bites the truck driver?
do you mean a guy made out of icecream? not that i remember but there should have been. that would have been cool.

RE2 was awesome, i haven't thought about that in years but i spent alot of time on it when it first came out. definitly worth another go, there is so many cool things throughout the game i think it makes up for it being a little bit,
"go here, do this, go here, do this..."
i'd mention a few of my faveriot parts but i dont want to ruin it for you :)

Alright I'll buy it when I get a chance, but forget about the 'ice cream', wasn't there an intro to the game that both characters saw before Leon arrives in a jeep and claire comes in on a motorcycle? BEFORE THAT?? I've got a good video memory and I recall seeing the light reflecting off the jeep (curious? it's on youtube) after I saw the really scary video...no? yeah? no?

This thread brings back memories. Anyone else particularly liked PSX because the graphics while, good for their time, were not what sold the systems? It seemed like games then had a lot more personality and character than the pop culture shiz that comes out today.

By the way, while RE2 was not my first PSX game, it was among my favorites. That, the GT series, MGS, and I even fell in love with the GTA series waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before it was considered cool. The graphics were ****, and the controls were not forgiving, but I loved the open ended gameplay. And for some reason I liked GTA 1 over 2.

Final Fantasy 7 was great too. Though I never owned it, I'd watch one of my buddies play through it.

I had Need For Speed 1 for the Sega Saturn, and that game hands down is the reason I got interested in cars due to its "Car Showcase" mode, and it's Road and Track presentation.

Wow!! I remember this thread. I went back and looked at what I wrote and realized I havent veared away from the normal car games. Im playing Carbon at the moment.

I'll never forget the day I brought home the Playstation. I had to drive all the way out to were I worked at the time on a Saturday morning because the store I bought it from couldn't break the street date. I actually paid in full over the summer so I could get it on the release date. Little did I know, there would be other stores that had it available. Anyway, that day I took home Ridge Racer, ESPN Extreme Sports, and Battle Arena Toshinden. I also bought Air Combat, but they didn't get it in stock until the following Tuesday. I think Battle Arena Toshinden went in the drive first. What a great day!

Peace \/

First Playstation Games:
Need For Speed 4: High Stakes
Crash Bandicoot

First Playstation 2 Game:
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 (came bundled with the PS2)

First game I ever got for the PS1 was Fifa '97 - but it was blasted out the water on the very same day by Formula One (Xmas Day, 1996). First game I ever got for the PS2 was Fifa 2002 which I got with the console because GT3 was out of stock (it was just about to be re-released as a Platinum title)... the first game I bought for the PS2 was GT3, however...

Bought my PS2 and GT4 all at once. A month earlier, I finally got to sit down and play the hell out of GT3, and five hours passed before I knew what had happened. GT4 had recently been released, so when I came back from my trip, I bought my PS2 & GT4 and wasted that four-day weekend.
