Forza Motorsport 6: Apex Gameplay Footage, New Screenshots Available

FM6Apex_Grid

It was around two weeks ago when we shared more details regarding Turn 10’s plan to expand the territory of the Forza Motorsport series by launching a special title to the Windows platform. Known as Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, the new title was touted as a free-to-play, ‘slimmed down’ version of regular Forza Motorsport games, aiming for a more casual players.

Now we can catch the first impressions of the actual gameplay as video footage has leaked out, using the Jaguar XKR-S GT as a demonstration machine on one of the soaking wet variations of the popular Top Gear circuit. Lasting 3.5 minutes, the gameplay footage emphasizes technical achievements the new title will be able to deliver, along with interesting track selection and a select number of cars players will be able to take for a spin.

Several screenshots have also been revealed, showing design guidelines of the game menus (largely similar to the console version), HUD and various customization options for both cars and overall gameplay. One particular element that stands out is ‘Tours of Motorsport’ mode, where players will be able to run challenges in a predetermined order to win medals.

Remember, Forza Motorsport 6: Apex is said to bring 63 cars, 6 locations, and 20 track variations to the table on release. The game will be capable of running at 4K resolution on Windows 10 platforms thanks to DirectX 12. Although free of charge, the game seems to have micro-transactions for those that wish to bypass the medals-based progression mechanic T10 have included in the game. Sadly, the title won’t support regular multiplayer options or wheel support, at least initially. The launch is reserved for this spring.

Now THIS, is a dream of mine. Playing Forza on PC. Count me in… except for the “Unlock Early” option.

Honestly a game like this would be good for the PC, I mean the last decent F2P racing game I’ve ever played was NFS World and even then it got to the point where hackers dominated the servers and they eventually closed down (R.I.P) so it would be nice to have a game like this on PC.
Hopefully the graphics are excellent when tuned to max and it’s not all Pay to Win like most free games. Since it’s aimed at casual gamers, and it’s a highly acclaimed game series, I have high expectations of this..

There’s this “Unlock Early” option. I’m thinking that’s a micro-transaction… I could be wrong, or not. They’ll probably pop up the tokens later like they did in Forza 6 or Forza Horizon 2.

I never fully trust the word F2P.

I’ve seen much worse in many other games. Some people I’ve played with drove like they were inebriated.

At release, which insinuates they will be implementing it later. It’s free taste test for future full releases.

Count me in. Gonna give my bro my XB1 and I’ll play Forza on PC once Horizon 3 comes out on it… of course I could be wrong, we’ll see.

So that’s what Forza looks like on a PC less powerful than an Xbox One. Was hoping to see the opposite of that but okay for now.

It’s a 720p/30fps compressed Youtube video. You don’t really think that’s representative of the gameplay on your own monitor do you?

    2. ImaRobot

I think that’s what he means Johnny. he was just pointing out the lack of quality of the actual video, not the game. Atleast, that’s what I feel.

    3. Johnnypenso

The source video could be absolutely stellar but if you render it at 720/30 and throw in YT compression, it’s going to look like garbage no matter how good the source material is/was.

@JP That’s obviously not what he meant. Didn’t you see the settings the guy changed? He put it on 900p. Even Xbox One can do better than that so obviously this PC was weak sauce

That video is a piss poor example of what this title will be like on PC. The user is even playing at sub XBOX ONE settings (900p?!?). That video has been hitting sites for over week now and it’s old news. I am waiting for an Official video from Microsoft for this game. I actually thought that this would be what i was waiting for…. oh well.
