Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.45 Released, Fixes BOP Issue Ahead of GT World Series

Polyphony Digital has released a surprise update to Gran Turismo 7 this morning, pushing out what seems to be an emergency patch to address a single issue only.

The update came with very little warning, following a server maintenance notice by a matter of only a couple of hours. Weighing in at a mere 356MB on PlayStation 5 and half that on PlayStation 4, it was clear that it wasn’t bringing a lot to the game, even before the patch notes were released.

It came as much less of a surprise then when the notes contained a single line, and it addresses an issue that could have been significant to the upcoming Gran Turismo World Series with a glitch in the Balance of Performance post-1.44 affecting one vehicle only.

That, as many players would have noticed, was a bug with the Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car which resulted in the vehicle being significantly overpowered — to the tune of 60hp — under BOP conditions.

This resulted in the car being considerably faster than the other Gr.3 vehicles, and it was quickly removed from the Daily Races rotation in last week’s event at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps — including a leaderboard reset. It was also made ineligible for this week’s races at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The single-player Gr.3 GT Cup races, run under BOP conditions, were also made somewhat more awkward.

More importantly though it would have impacted the GT World Series, which is due to begin in just under two weeks, potentially requiring the car to be made ineligible there too — although Ford does have several options in the Gr.3 class that would have substituted.

Today’s update sees the BOP returned to how it was prior to update 1.44, with power once again at 501hp under all BOP conditions. We’ve also seen it returned to the permitted car list for the Daily Races this week.

It’s likely that Polyphony Digital has been holding off on announcing the full format of this year’s GT World Series while this fix was in the works, so we’re expecting more information on that to arrive soon. Watch this space for all the latest.
