Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.26 is Now Available: Adds Road Atlanta and Car Selling Feature

The latest update for Gran Turismo 7 is now with us, and it brings a host of new content, higher value events, and one of the most-requested features since the launch of Gran Turismo Sport in 2017.

Coming in at just over 2.5GB on PlayStation 4 and just under 3.1GB on PlayStation 5, it’s one of the weightiest updates we’re likely to see in the game’s life — but also one of the most significant.

There’s plenty to dig through, with the new cars, new track, new feature, and special Anniversary celebration and World Finals content.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.26 New Features

The biggest news for most players in this update is the new car selling feature, which will finally allow for the removal of spare cars from your garage and offer you some credit rewards for doing so.

Officially known as the Car Valuation Service, it’s the most complicated version of this function seen in a Gran Turismo game to date, as it takes into account vehicle mileage, tuning state, and “market trends”; although this isn’t specifically detailed, that could suggest that if lots of players are selling the same car, prices will go down.

Once you’ve cleared GT Cafe Menu Book 39 — the final main Menu Book — you’ll need to head into the Used Car Dealer and click on the Car Valuation Service tool in the top-right corner to access the feature.

There you’ll be able to select any car in your garage except the car you’re currently using, Manufacturer loan cars, and DLC cars (including pre-order bonuses) and have its value appraised.

The valuation consists of two components: body valuation, which is the current appraised value of the car (at around 50% of its “base” price) and changes daily, and tuning valuation that takes into account any upgrades you have made. You’ll be able to sell the car for that total price; beware that you will lose the tuning parts, but keep any cosmetic changes made in GT Auto.

One fun twist is that you can only sell one example of a particular vehicle each day. Hopefully you don’t have too many Honda NSX Gr.B cars to shift…

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.26 New Track

The 1.26 update adds one of the most-requested real-world circuits in the GTPlanet Suggestions forum: Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

This 2.54-mile circuit near Braselton in Georgia is the home of the annual Petit Le Mans event, a 10-hour endurance race on the circuit featuring some of the fastest closed-wheel cars in the world and a staple of the motorsport calendar in North America’s IMSA series.

It features 12 corners and some steep elevation changes which should provide plenty of challenge. There’s also a new Circuit Experience to go with the track, using the Volkswagen Beetle Gr.3, with a 1,000,000cr bonus for completing all sectors at Gold.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.26 New Cars

Three new cars come along in the update too, with two in the Used Car dealer — as semi-permanent “Hot” picks initially, so they’re available right away — and one in Brand Central.

Probably the headline for most motorsport enthusiasts is the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500. This limited-run version of the Sierra RS Cosworth was developed by Aston Martin and Tickford as a homologation model for Group A racing, and the “Cossie” was highly successful. You can collect it for 200,000cr in Used Cars right now.

Modern day sports car fans will also be looking forward to the BMW M2 Competition. This M-car is a hot model based on the coupe form of BMW’s smallest car, and packs in a 405hp, straight-six turbo. If anything it’s more like the original E30 M3 than the current M3 is, and it can be yours for 91,000cr in Brand Central.

Finally there’s one for JDM fans, with the Nissan Silvia (S14) Ks Aero 1996. This is a car that’s been in every main Gran Turismo title (other than GT Sport) so makes a welcome return, and as a 208hp, front-engine, rear-wheel drive coupe, it’s plenty of fun to drive too.

  • BMW M2 Competition 2018 – 91,000cr (Brand Central)
  • Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 1987 – 200,000cr (Used Cars)
  • Nissan Silvia (S14) Ks Aero 1996 – 60,000cr (Used Cars)

A fourth new car is also available, although it is technically a livery for an existing car while also having a unique name. That’s the Red Bull X2019 25th Anniversary, which sports a natty fading red/blue paint scheme and special decals. You’ll “win” the car from simply clicking on the 25th Anniversary event badge at the top of the home screen.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.26 New Events

There’s a selection of new single- and multi-player events in the update, many of which are keyed to the 25th Anniversary celebrations.

You’ll find five permanent additions to the race roster, with three at the new Road Atlanta circuit location and usual GT7 prize values. They are:

  • Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta
    • Race of Turbo Sportscars
    • American FR Challenge 550
    • Gr.1 Prototype Series
  • Brands Hatch
    • European FR Challenge 550
  • Willow Springs Raceway
    • Historic Sports Car Masters

At the top of the screen, behind the 25th Anniversary event badge, you’ll find two bonus single-player events which will be available until January 3. There’s a Manufacturers Cup event, consisting of a ten-lap race at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps — this weekend’s grand final race — and a Nations Cup race similar to the Repechage event on Thursday using the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak at Willow Springs.

Each is worth 1.8 million credits for gold — 300,000cr for 10th or better, 500,000cr for 5th or better, and 1,000,000cr — and you can only win each prize once.

There’s also new Online Time Trial using the same Escudo/Willow combination. That runs, curiously, until Monday December 5, and although double prize money was previously mooted, it’s currently showing with the regular prize of up to 2,000,000cr for a gold time (equivalent to the current record plus 3%).

You’ll need a PlayStation Plus subscription for the other events, which come in Daily Race A and as-yet unavailable championship events.

Daily Race A will cycle through three World Finals-themed events over the next two weeks. First up is a Gr.3 race at Deep Forest Reverse from the Manufacturers Cup, until November 28. From then until December 2 is a Nations Regional event featuring the Lamborghini VGT at Monza. Finally there’s a race for the McLaren MP4/4 at Interlagos for another Nations Regional event. Each is worth four times usual prize money.

The championship events will be based on the World Finals too. The Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup series features a three-round event for the GR010 at Fuji on November 25, November 29, and December 2. Manufacturers Cup will be three races at Spa in Gr.3 cars on November 27, November 30, and December 3. Finally it’s the X2019 and Trial Mountain Reverse for the Nations Cup on November 28, December 1, and December 4.

Finally there’s two new Extra Menu books, each featuring car collection tasks. You’ll need to pick up a trio of classic Renaults for Book 12, with a six-star parts ticket as a reward. Book 13 is a Skyline GT-R collection — and you’ll need to visit Legends Cars (you can add cars to your wishlist direct from the Menu Book to receive notification when they’re in stock) — with a six-star engine ticket prize.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.26 Other Changes

There’s a few other changes too, starting with the two new sets of Scapes. These consist of a set at Road Atlanta and a themed “Illuminations” collection featuring creatively lit backgrounds.

New vehicle liveries, based on those used at this weekend’s World Finals, are now available in the Showcase section of the World Map. These are free to download and use on your own vehicles. You’ll also find 23 new “real” car paints available in GT Auto, which cost in-game credits to buy.

Penalty lines at the Deep Forest and Trial Mountain reverse courses have been adjusted, and there are physics tweaks to the two Super Formula SF19 cars.

Players using the Thrustmaster T-GT and Fanatec GT DD Pro now have new options for button assignments.

Although unannounced, there’s also a selection of new engine swaps available, which the community is still uncovering. However you can find all the currently known swaps in our dedicated forum thread.
