Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Civic Studies

More new Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges begin today, as the five-event challenge is refreshed at midnight in your local time zone with new races to tackle over the next week.

Weekly Challenges comprise five events for players to race through over a seven-day window, beginning every Friday morning, with four from existing races in the World Circuits menu joined by a fifth “Special Event” that’s created just for the week. You’ll need to finish third or better in each event to complete them, with bonus rewards for checking off one, three, and all five races.

In terms of prize money for the races themselves, this week’s spectrum begins with a two-lap race at Laguna Seca in the Sunday Cup Classic. The only requirement here is a road car, so you can go nuts if you like — even a Ferrari or Skoda Vision GT car, if you want it over and done with — as it’s a mere 15,000cr for victory.

Unusually it’s the Special Event up next, which brings us a five-lap race around the rarely used Tokyo Expressway Central Counterclockwise course. This track, home to the hardest Circuit Experience by our reckoning, only got its first permanent race in the 1.57 update, so this celebration of all things Civic is a rare old thing. Any Civic of any kind is eligible (even the Garage RCR car), with the AI equipped with a variety of natty liveries, though you don’t need big power to earn the 60,000cr for winning the race.

You’ll need a Porsche for the next event, as the Porsche Cup visits Kyoto Driving Park’s Yamagiwa course. It’s another five-lapper, for any Porsche of any kind so long as it’s under the 650PP (Performance Point) limit, and watch out for a late-charging AI car if you want that 70,000cr victory reward.

A new race, added in 1.57, is your next challenge. This is the European Clubman Cup 600 event at the reverse layout Deep Forest course, with five laps between you and a 75,000cr payday. Only some of the event title applies by way of restrictions: you’ll need a road car from a European manufacturer for the event, but the “600” notation is just a suggested PP value and not a cap.

Finally we have a rollercoaster ride in the World Touring Car 700 at Mount Panorama. This seven-lap race requires only that your car doesn’t exceed 700PP — the AI use Gr.4 cars, but the recent BOP change means a lot of Gr.3 cars are now eligible as standard — and has Racing tires fitted. There’s a good chunk of change on offer too, with 165,000cr for reaching the checkered flag first.

The first two bonus rewards are credit tickets, with 100,000cr and 200,000cr for completing any one and any three races respectively. Don’t forget that these are tickets, rather than actual credit rewards, and will need to be redeemed from within the Gifts section of your Garage. The prize for completing all five is a Six-Star Roulette ticket, which will offer up either a Brand Central car worth 500,000cr or more, or credit rewards of 500,000cr or 1,000,000cr when redeemed.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday April 18.
