More new Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges are becoming available to players worldwide, as local clocks tick over from Thursday into Friday, with five fresh challenges coming into this special bonus mode.
Weekly Challenges comprise five events whose lineup is refreshed every Friday morning for players to tackle across the one-week period. Four come from existing races in the World Circuits menu, with fifth “Special Event” that’s created just for that week. Completing the races, by finishing third or better in each event, awards bonus prizes alongside the credits for the race, with higher-value rewards the more you finish.
There’s usually a range of events from slow and low-paying to fast and lucrative, and this week that begins with a two-lap race of Brands Hatch Grand Prix in the European Sunday Cup 500. Don’t worry about the “500” of the name there — it’s a suggested Performance Point (PP) value for a competitive race — as you can enter any Road Car you like from a European marque, and there’s 10,000cr on the table for victory.
Pickup trucks are next, in their eponymous challenge, for a three-lap race of the Willow Springs Big Willow course. Again there’s no other limitations but the type of car — only the Ford F150 SVT and Toyota Tundra TRD are eligible, and the Unimog is not (booooo) — with a 30,000cr prize for winning here.
We’ve got a pair of events up next with a 60,000cr winner’s prize, starting with the Special Event this week. It’s a one-make race for the most recently added Aston Martin Vantage at the rarely used Blue Moon Bay Infield A circuit, running over five laps and again with no tuning restrictions in force.
However the following race has some unusual limitations. It’s in the Historic Sports Car Masters series — which you will need to unlock if you haven’t already — which restricts you to Road Cars made between 1960 and 1989 and at no more than 580PP. With a suitable vehicle selected it’s a one-lap race of the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
As is so often the case, the World Touring Car 800 rounds the action off this week, but you’ll need to be on your toes a bit. The car requirements are the usual — no more than 800PP, and on any Racing Tires — but you’ll want to ensure you have wet weather tires too as the ten-lap race of Fuji Speedway can get quite damp. It’s worth almost as much as the other races combined too, at 140,000cr for victory.
For this week’s bonuses we have a full suite of credit tickets. That’s 100,000cr for completing any one race, 200,000cr for completing any three, and 500,000cr for the clean sweep. Bear in mind that they are tickets rather than just credit rewards, and you’ll need to redeem them from your Garage’s Gifts section if you want the money — as you probably would.
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday May 9.
