Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Supersize Me

There’s a bit of an endurance-racing theme to this week’s Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges, starting Friday morning in your local timezone, as some long-distance circuits host the events.

Weekly Challenges is a set of five events that update each Friday morning. There’s four events drawn from the existing races within World Circuits, and a fifth “Special Event” created just for that week. The more you races complete, the more — and higher — bonus rewards you get, along with the spread of rewards from completing the races themselves.

The game’s longest course hosts its cheapest event this week, with the American Clubman Cup 700’s full-throttle one-lapper at Special Stage Route X. This nearly 19-mile oval comprises two enormous straights and two long banked curves, and you can use any road or tuned car from an American brand to take part. All you need is the highest unaided top speed to win this one and the 15,000cr prize money.

Next up is the 24h layout of Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, which stages a two-lap race in the European Sunday Cup 500. This time you’ll need a road car from any European brand to take part, and there’s 20,000cr awarded for taking the win.

Historic Sports Car Masters is the next event up the scale, and may require unlocking if you’ve not already done so. It’s a five-lap race at the Big Willow course at Willow Springs for some very specific cars: road cars made between 1960 and 1989, and at no higher Performance Point rating than 580PP. Victory here earns you 70,000cr.

Our Special Event is up next, which sees us return to the Ferrari 812 Superfast for a four-lap race at an unusual course. Autodrome Lago Maggiore Full — or “GP” as it was in Sport — will be familiar enough, but it’s the reverse layout for this one-make challenge. Virtually every fast turn on the forward course is slow here, while every slow turn remains slow, and if you have Braking Zone assist turned on you should be prepared for some of the biggest zones you’ll ever see. The good news is that the AI are quite unsure here too, so that 85,000cr prize for winning should be easy pickings even in a standard car.

A World Touring Car race finishes up the line-up as usual, with the WTC800 event at the 24 Heures du Mans Circuit. You’re limited only to a car up to 800PP and on any Racing Tires you like for this five-lap race, but we’d recommend sticking with the same Gr.3 cars as the AI use just to ensure you’re not caught out by fuel consumption and tire degradation. There’s 161,000cr for taking the win.

It’s a standard selection of increasing-value credit tickets in the bonus rewards this week. You’ll collect a 100,000cr ticket for finishing any one event, a 200,000cr ticket for finishing any three, and a 500,000cr ticket for completing the full set. Don’t forget that these will need redeeming from the Gifts section of your Garage to collect their face value.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday June 27.
