More new Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges that put more of the latest new game content to good use are starting to arrive on consoles around the world, starting as Friday morning lands in your local timezone.
Weekly Challenges consist of a set of five events which update at midnight every Friday morning. You’ll find them in a special green box in World Circuits, with four races drawn from the races already present there and a fifth “Special Event” that’s created just for that week. The more of them that you complete in that seven-day window, the better the bonus rewards you’ll land alongside the standard credits for the races.
The Japanese FR Challenge 450 gets the ball rolling this week, with its two-lap round at Autopolis. You’ll need an FR — front-engined, rear-wheel drive — road car from Japan for this event, with the “450” notation only a suggested Performance Point (PP) value for a competitive race. Winning lands you 23,000cr.
Our Special Event for the week is the next-lowest paying, but it actually gives a decent rate of return. It’s a one-make for the new Peugeot 2008, and your car can be in any state of tune — the AI is rolling with the stock vehicle — for the three-lap race of the Streets of Willow Springs. The 45,000cr prize for victory, enhanced by the 50% Clean Race Bonus and considering that even the standard machine can do it in 4.5 minutes is pretty efficient credit-earning value if you need something a bit different.
Weekly Challenges almost always contain a World Touring Car event, but it’s not at the top of the tree this week. It’s the WTC600 race at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, comprising a quick four-lap whirl of the famous circuit in any car of any kind at a maximum 600PP — and the field is pretty wild usually. Taking victory here nets you 80,000cr.
There’s 90,000cr on offer for the fourth race, which is the American Clubman Cup 700 at Trial Mountain. It’s a five-lap affair for Road or Tuned (which includes the likes of the SEMA vehicles) cars in any specification you wish — you can even whip out the base Tomahawk if you want it over and done with.
That leaves an unusual one to round out the week, with the Neo-Classic Competition race at Red Bull Ring. There’s some very specific requirements here, as you’ll need a car made between 1980 and 1999, equipped with Racing Tires and at no more than 800PP. Your rivals are some of the classic “All Star” cars from previous GT games, and the high tire wear and fuel consumption rate make it tricky to catch and pass them — not to mention the role weather plays at this circuit.
Event bonuses this week see a slight adjustment. Completing any one event awards a 100,000cr ticket, and completing any three gifts a 200,000cr ticket — which you’ll need to redeem from your Garage’s Gifts section to earn the money. However you’ll land a Six-Star Roulette ticket for clearing all five, which has a roughly equal chance of giving you 500,000cr or a Brand Central car worth at least that much, and can even award you a cool 1,000,000cr.
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday July 11.
