GT Sport 1.05 Patch Arrives: BoP and Handling Changes

As promised, Polyphony Digital has released the latest patch for GT Sport.

While we knew an update was coming yesterday, what we didn’t expect was for the team to skip right over a 1.04 version. But the patch notes in-game confirm it: the 600MB update brings GT Sport up to 1.05.

What does this new version provide? For now, with the servers offline — meaning absolutely everything in game outside of Arcade Mode is locked — there’s no way for us to explore. But Polyphony has provided patch notes. The primary focus seems to be class rebalancing in terms of Balance of Performance (BoP) modifications. It’s a timely decision, since the first FIA pre-season races start this weekend.

BoP Adjustments

If you’ve been a fan of the Hyundai Genesis in Gr.3, or the dominant GT-R and Scirocco in Gr.4, we’ve got some bad news. Polyphony has nerfed all three: the GT-R gets hit hardest, with a 2% reduction in power and a 1% increase in weight.

On the other hand, three Gr.3 cars receive a bump in power (AMG GT3, R8 LMS, and Huracan). Down in Gr.4, the Lancer Evo is the only car to receive a power increase.

Gr.3 Class

  • Mercedes AMG GT3 (AMG-Team HTP-Motorsport) ’16 [Power ratio: 94% > 95%]
  • Audi R8 LMS (Audi Sport Team WRT) ’15 [Power ratio: 90% > 91%]
  • Lamborghini Huracan GT3 ’15 [Power ratio: 94% > 95%]
  • Hyundai Genesis Gr.3 [Power ratio: 112% > 111%]

 Gr.4 Class

  • Nissan GT-R Gr.4 [Power ratio: 97% > 95%] [Weight Reduction Ratio: 110% > 111%]
  • Volkswagen Scirocco Gr.4 [Power ratio: 100% > 97%]
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition Gr.4 [Power ratio: 97% > 98%]

Other Improvements

While the BoP adjustments are the headline changes in 1.05, they aren’t the only ones.

In terms of physics and handling, PD has made numerous changes. Specifically, the team has retuned the ABS, to improve handling under braking. Traction Control has similarly improved, allowing for better acceleration while turning.

Wheel users will find more force feedback around the wheel’s center. Polyphony has also retuned the FFB for less vibrations from curbing. Meanwhile, the DS4 controls are said to be improved, though PD hasn’t detailed what exactly that entails.

Members of the community have noticed a lot of gameplay footage has been the target of copyright takedowns on YouTube. The patch addresses this, adding a new Broadcast Mode to the in-race background music. Selecting this will ensure GT Sport plays suitable tracks during broadcasting.

The Mileage Exchange has come in for some changes as well. The paint and wheel categories can now hold up to 16 options — so you’ll want to stock up on points now in preparation for what’s sure to be an expensive visit next week. When buying wheels, players will also see which models they’ll actually be able to equip them on.

Finally, Polyphony has added “Online Server Status” and “Maintenance and Error Information” sections to the main menu. Now, about unlocking some more features while offline…

The 600MB patch still seems quite large considering the changes, so make sure to keep an eye on the GTPlanet GT Sport forums for any undocumented changes.
