Need For Speed ‘Hot Rods’ Update Fully Detailed

nfs1932

Following the accidental Need for Speed leak by EA’s Twitter earlier this week, Ghost has dropped full patch notes on what to expect from March’s update – aptly named ‘Hot Rods’.

First up Manual Transmission finally makes its way to NFS2015 after fan-feedback rated this as one of the highest requested changes to the game. For those who were waiting for a more rewarding driving experience before purchasing this could be a deal-maker.

Even though one Hot Rod was unveiled last week(The 1932 Ford Hot Rod), it has now been confirmed two Hot Rods will be added free of charge. Joining the 1932 we have the Aaron Beck ‘BeckKustoms F132′ – a beastly concept Hot Rod that will tear up the streets of Ventura Bay with ease. Both these new additions can have four body-kits applied to it that will help change it between 4 distinct types; Soft-Top, Sedan, Pickup and Coupe. From here, you can also apply custom Hoods, Lights, Grilles, Exhausts and Bumpers to name some of the options at your finger-tips.

Keeping with the theme of Hot Rods Drag Racing is a brand new way to play that comes with five events straight from the update to take advantage of. Created with inspiration from the Drag Racing of previous NFS titles, this should be sure to please those looking for a bit of variety (or hoon around in the Beck F132!).

A common complaint from fans cited the lack of garage space NFS has to offer, previously only accommodating for five vehicles. That will be addressed in the upcoming update with vehicle space being upped to support 10 player owned vehicles. This should allow for a more varied selection of vehicles at a single time whilst still holding true to the ideal of each car feeling unique. A good move from Ghost in my opinion.

The wrap editor receives a few more tweaks too – notably the addition of more accurate vinyl application aided by positioning information that displays in real-time. New fonts and typography improvements arrive giving designers a lot more to work with.

The update brings 3 new achievements/trophies to earn based around the new content that has been added:

  • Drag Queen – Win five Drag Race events
  • Wrap It Up – Download a shared Wrap
  • Kustom Kar – Buy your first Hot Rod

Outside of these major improvements, the full patch notes give a bit more detail about minor adjustments:

  • More campaigns for Rep / Cash and Discounts
  • A variety of tweaks and improvements including game play, World and audio
  • Multiple stability fixes
  • Improved Snapshot overview screen in the Need for Speed Network menu so you can find out more about your snapshots
  • Improvements Snapshot Pro mode

With the update due to land this Thursday, be sure to stop by the NFS sub-forum and check out what the community are up to. With these new additions to the feature list we are sure to see some seriously nice custom rides in Ventura Bay from here on in.

If they added an optional & more natural handling mode/game mode & bigger map, the game would be official. Otherwise, it still needs work imo.

I might buy this now that it has a manual, but i’ll wait until a lot of the issues are patched out.

I might buy this now that it has Manual Transmission. Only if it has full button mapping… I assume it does, since the gear buttons will replace existing controls?

I’m not sure what system you’re playing on, but Sony recently pushed an update for the PS4 that allows button mapping in the system settings. If there’s nothing in game to change the controls, I’m sure the PS4 mapping would work

@whitechocMBG : Wow, I wasn’t aware of this feature, thanks for letting me know! Will definitely check it out to see how well it works.

I wish I could give a damn about Need for Speed but they lost me quite some time ago. Anything after NFS Carbon has been underwhelming to say the least. Pro Street, Shift, “Most wanted”… EA lost their NFS ways looong time ago

I completely agree. I was really looking forward to a comeback with this one, but unsurprisingly I was let down again. I loved the arcade-y feel that it had before, especially Most Wanted (2007) where cop cars would go flying when you slammed into them!

My favourites are Hot Pursuit II and Hot Pursuit, I really got obsessed by those two!
PS. Just out of interest does anyone know why the last one wasn’t called Hot Pursuit III?
