News about the upcoming Gran Turismo feature film is sparse, but things are still moving forward behind the scenes. The Hollywood Reporter had more news late last week that brothers Jon and Erich Hoeber have joined the screenwriting production team.
The Hoeber brothers are best known for their work on the RED action series, including the original from 2010 and RED 2 from 2013. They also wrote Battleship, which premiered in 2012.

The writing duo joins Joseph Kosinski, who was reportedly hired as the film’s director back in March of this year, along with producers Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti, Josh Bratman, DeVon Franklin and Elizabeth Cantillon.

Prodigy kid has a racer father, kid see racer father get killed in a race, kid goes into hiding, some bad guy comes along, kid has to face his fears, crashes out, meets a girl, girl gets taken hostage, kid has to race bad guy. Kid almost loses cos bad guy cheats but in the end still wins. Kid becomes future racer hero douche.
Wouldn’t surprise me if this movie is for GT7. The build-up is becoming quite apparent as GT6 seems to be getting more obsolete.

I suspect this movie will have the same amount of dialogue as the Shadow of the Colossus movie, but with Lucas Ordóñez occasionally popping up with some pointers about exactly what is going on.
I do believe the reason I almost forgot about this literal “circumstance” entirely is because of how brilliantly pointless it sounded from the get…and now you’re trying to tell me that writers of “Battleship” will be vital factors to this movie’s life?
Nice going Kaz, for you have slowly (but surely) gone entirely to commercial on us.

Because Kaz has a say in who every single crew member is going to be? How do you even know he has a say in plot? This is Sony’s movie, not PD’s / Kaz’s.

What could the plot be about????
My guess: some kid with a dream to become a race car driver, goes through GT Academy, wins/graduates, goes to Le Mans and wins overall.
Other than that, I can’t think of ANYTHING else outside of a documentary.
I’m not expecting anything plausible or realistic.
Unless these writers really know racing, I doubt they’ll do anything plausible. Maybe street racer punk turns pro racer, turns some sort of fake F1 driver (since they’ll never pay the licensing fees to do real F1), all the while being tied up with criminals blackmailing him or something

Damn I compltely forgot about the fact a Gran Turismo flick is supposed to be in the works. That could explain why we haven’t heard much about GT7. They’ll be waiting until all the elements of what they have planned edge closer to a certain timeframe and then booyaka.. we’ll get bombarded with info on the incredible game that will be GT7!
I wonder if the movie will include the moon lander? Will the soundtrack be jazz? I sure do hope so.

I know. Oh crap this is going to be amazing. Battleship is one of the most intelligent and thought provoking films of all time. I’m sure this will brilliant with the writers of Battleship at the helm
…First RED was funny enough but forgettable, second one was markedly not as good but still a silly fun nonetheless, but Battleship?
