Circuit de la Sarthe Confirmed in Latest GT5 Demo

An email sent from Sony to some of our French users confirms that Circuit de la Sarthe will be shown off in the Gran Turismo 5 demo running at the company’s track-side PS3 booth. Roughly translated, the last line reads, “Come see an ultra realistic virtual preview of the mythical track of the 24H of Mans!” Some of our friends at GT5rs will be in attendance at the race, so expect some fresh game-play footage this weekend!

“The game on the Audi stand is “Forza 3″.
You can see the game’s logo back on the seats.”

Eh? Audi now don’t have a prayer – why did they do that? XD

  2. John Marine

Sorry I’m late to this party… uh, this is great to see that Circuit de la Sarthe will be featured in the latest demo. I’m sure this is something to be excited about as the 2010 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans kicks off this weekend.

  3. Bolg

I’m sure I saw a GT5 demo on the Audi stand today on the Le Man build up programme, I could be mistaken though as it was never on screen for more than a second.

  4. David

It would be sick if those two “guest” pods served as a real-time demo of the actual race!

With a true 1:1 demonstration of the day/night cycle!

  5. bshs

It would be great with night added to the 24 hour races.

Go Audi no. 1, I really hope Tom Kristensen can win it again.

    Denmark rules.

  6. Lucas

Went to Le Mans today, and the only one demo shown in the Playstation Area was the old demo already seen a couple of times, including only Tokyo R246 and 6-7 cars (Focus WRC 08, Impreza WRC 08, Viper ACR, Ferrari 458, an orange Audi TT, aso…). I have to say I was very disappointed…

BUT, the two front seats (seems these are “guests” seats, see the pictures…) are turned off since Wednesday, so maybe these are fitted with the new demo and La Sarthe track, and will only be turned on for the “raceday” tomorrow…

    Wait and see!

(Indeed, there was also a “Playstation Move” area, but nothing to do with Gran Turismo, as it was a tennis game if I remember…)

  7. Iluvgt4 (though if i tried it, 5 even better)

La Sarthe in GT5? Yeah that’s hardly exciting. GT4 had both the one with the chicanes and the one without.

  8. marcus

addictive though. I find myself playing it just for the touring cars. I do hope gt5 will bring the same element of fun because i have gotten a bit bored with gt psp in the few months since i bought it. They should introduce game modes like car football just to develop the game. That would fit in with the world cup and everything

  9. Steady_Dave_2JZ

    @marcus

lol dont know why put started the career in grid again a few days ago and that is a nifty little feature. Quite like that!

Physics in that game are appauling though!

  10. marcus

do you think that gt5 will have a thing like in grid were after a certain number of races the 24 minutes of le mans is available? that would be awesome

  11. Bernd

@Matt – Je suis d’accord ! Very fine translation. I’d like to add, 500 square meters is about 510 square yards – that is something !

  12. Aero2000

I know it! I said it to my brother when we saw at the Le Mans qual last night :) I will ride the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP on Circuit de la Sarthe when I have the game hehe.

  13. tvensky

    @ Kilborn230

ok, you got your point :) Full HD is different.. 4 days left to E3, just cant wait.. my brain will explode!

  14. Matt

An attempt at a full translation might go like:

“Discover GT5 during Le Mans 24 hours.

Come and support the Peugeot Total Team and get an exclusive look at GT5 at the Playstation stand.

    12th and 13th of June 2010

Playstation’s associate, Peugeot Sport, is competing in the mythical 24 hours race at Le Mans, the most beautiful automotive endurance test in the world. 3 Peugeot Sport teams will once again compete at la Sarthe at the wheels of their 908 HDi FAPs.

The exclusive demo will be available at the 500 meter square Playstation stand. The stand is sited next to the track in the area open to the general public.

Come and see the premier of the ultra realistic virtual version of the mythical Le Mans circuit.”

  15. TokyoDrift

Woohoo, we have a track from GT4 confirmed as being in GT5! ;o) Shame it wasn’t Trial Mountain being mentioned, but then I’ve never known there be a real-life 24hr race there.

  16. Ettiene

Thanks Jordan for the best blog on the net.You are the best!I hope one day our A1 track in Durban will be on GT and that we can watch Le Mans here in South Africa.Cant wait for the next post!!!!

The wait for GT5 is almost over!!!

  17. Fiesta RSI

THANKS JORDAN FOR ALL THE GOOD NEWS.YOU ARE THE BEST.THIS IS THE BEST NEWS BLOG.I JUST HOPE MY COUNTRY SOUTH AFRICA WILL ONE DAY ALSO HAVE LE MANS OR NASH CAR SO THAT WE CAN ALSO HAVE A TRACK ON GT5.WE HAVE THE A1 TRACK IN DURBAN CITY THAT CAN LOOK GOOD ON GT5.

    THE WAIT IS ALMOST OVER!!!!

  18. Soulfighter

    @Tokyo
Please read the article again. It’s confirming the Circuit to be in the game, not the official race. We did have 24hr races in GT4, however. No one said anything about the oficial Le Mans race to be in GT5 (yet, maybe. Who knows?)

  19. J.B.

Is it confirmed that there will be no day and night cycle? What about A-Spec mode, or whatever it was called, that aloud you to become more of a race manager during a certain stage of the race that you could have at your disposal during endurance races?

Not that I think that ruins the game for me, but I was really looking forward to a 24 hour of Daytona and such.

I’d really like to see GT become something similar to iRacing to an extent. They have the rights to some major series and would love to see those series become branches off of the actual game – such as a complete F1 series, a complete NASCAR series that ties into the actual game.

Include a larger field that could allow multiple classes (DP and GT) for the Rolex etc. …. I’d never leave my house again.

Could you Imagine if Kaz presented all of these cool previews and trailers for E3 but he says “The release date is still to be announced” I would be SO PISSED.

  21. Bpa94

seeing how the pods are set up, it would be nice to see them act out the real race in-game and after 5 laps or so you are told to pit and the next person hops in. Either way by this time next week we are all gonna be either very happy, or very pi***d off

  22. blackjack

whhaaaat? No Tokyo? What has Kaz been drinking?!?

What number would this make in terms of version number for the demo? Must be a few by now. If we don’t get GT5 this year I sure hope they release a GT5 Demo compilation of all these different versions for xmas.

C’mon Kaz, let us know a real release date at E3!

  23. gtone339

Finally, time to see LMP, GT1 and GT2 racing cars in GT5 on the famous 24 hrs track ( circuit de la sarthe).

  24. Tokyo

    Hello there !

I’d like to know why are you so sure that LeMans’s race will be in in GT5 release ?
I’m french and i don’t understand the sentence this way. Playstation is just a partner of the Peugeot team during LeMans’s race. An exclusive demo (certainly the same we’ve ever seen) will be shown to the public during the race… Any way the E3 is coming with a bunch of new in game videos of GT5 !

    Tokyo

  25. madaz75

Great to see such positive promotion of GT5 by Sony.
Hopefully an announcement of a release date is to come very soon.
Still would like to see a Dynamic day/night cycle.
    (Variable weather wouldn’t hurt either)

  26. Mickle Pickle

on the bottom left of the announcement, the first red rectangle, says:
    “To know more about GT5″…

Can anybody who has access to this link please click on it, and find that what’s more about GT5??

    Thanks in advance…

  27. viejaloca

I sure hope the 24hr races in GT5 (if there are going to be) won’t fry my PS3 when I play them…

  28. maxpontiac

I expected the track to be in GT5, but wasn’t positive it was going to be showcased at Le Mans 2010.

I look forward to seeing the updated version of Sarthe!

  29. yorkstar

They should not bring anymore previews about new cars, I want to see them all my self if i start the game.

Just bring out the game I hope to hear some more news from E3 soon

  30. FORZA_SUCKS

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with E3 next week. This will b a great week for GT. Only the release of GT5 will top it =D

  31. guigui072

Today I talk to a man on the playstation stand and he said:

“you can play the demo friday from 10h00 to 18h00 (…) there is several circuits in this demo”

But he does’nt confirmed the circuit de la sarthe.

(sorry for my english, i am french)

  32. Mickle Pickle

Finally the seasons of GT5 news has come … for the next week or so, we will getting non-stop fresh confirmation!!! Let’s just hope they dont make us wait/vegetate any longer…

i can already smell the smell of burnt rubber (from your joysticks and DFGT steering wheels ahaha)

  33. GTracerRens

:P I don’t want to travel to France to play a demo of GT5. I want to travel to the playstation store to get it my own house! :)

  34. jbo!!!

man i cant wait to c la sarthe’s new look…i bet its gonna be a re done version like the nurburgring gp circuit

  35. Kilborn230

    @ tvensky

I guess you don’t realize that a lot of people want to see what it looks like in HD…………… (etc marks don’t add to a comment either)

  36. tvensky

OHHH comon.. year ago PD said (or at least all internet talked about it, I dint speak with KAZ myself) “all tracks from GT4 will be in GT5″… so whats so special about Circuit de la Sarthe???? it was in GT4……………………………….

  37. Shokz

I’m guessing at this point a full day night cycle has been ruled out for GT5 but it would be cool if they had both the day and night version of the track available to play.

  38. Bernd

Allez les Bleus ! Just watched the first training session at Le Mans, Peugeot has a 4sec per lap advantage over Audi ! That’s devastating
