Ohh man I love this particular Event, Now that i use the Mercedes 300 Sl 1954 a max PP 491..

It’s a fun challenge with this car, it’s speedy, but also very aggressive, so a Gently Touch is very useful :o) But 4 gold so far- but i still got the Eifel to try out, so wish me luck :o)

    1. Flagmo-T

Damn!! only Missing around 4,3 seconds to beat number one on the Eifel, But I’m sure i will eventually beat him, I have only tried about 10 times now heheh – so i’ll take another 10 times tomorrow, because I would like to beat all 5 Challenges in my Mercedes Sl 300 coupe 1954, and btw it’s maxed to 493pp.. Well happy racing Guys..

  2. BrazilianRacerx

Yes, Besides Chaparral, you can use the Jaguar XJ3. Need some handwork but can be detuned to 500 pp´s. ALthought just used in the Eiger – hate this track – thus passed on the first try with this car.

On the other tracks… to make a bit challeging used the Toyota GT. Handful car but could win and hv some fun.

  3. Vin1021

I used the Camaro RM. Did it with 450pp’s. It was a very easy win. I also used the old VW bus and the Beetle. The Samba is pretty decent once you figure out the tune it needs to run fast times. It’s all in the anti-roll with the Samba. 200+hp doesn’t hurt either. All in all it was a fun event!

  4. TheEzekiel

well…congratz PD …your seasonal events are worse and worse…I consider this idiotic seasonal with more idiotic tracks as a joke

  5. Fullitorrrrrrr

My car of choice for playing around on Cote D’azure is the ’61 Jag E-Type Coupe, I just got the fully adjustable suspension (left it at defaults) and adjustable transmission and went to town. Got a group without a Ginetta in it and started seeing how low I could take my performance points and still win, only messed around with engine limiter though, got down to 365 PP and still had a 3 second lead on 2nd place. With 150% bonus that is giving me over 1.5 million credits, quite fun also.

  6. warpkez

The Ford and Ferrari ’67 race cars work really well. The 330 P4 can be dropped to around 440PP, and the Ford Mark IV can be lowered to 500PP.

  7. Mike

Lamborghini Miura worked well for me… Alfa Giulia is also fun… Mercedes 300 was like driving on ice at times.

  8. Brunskill777

BTW, I don’t want to sound like a idiot, but I just did sort of what everyone does for 600pp upwards events except with the other Chaparral (the 2D, not the 2J). Hope this hint/advice/possibly blatantly obvious idea helps you to catch that Ginetta on the 2nd and 3rd lap. Maybe i was a bit harsh in my last post. Sorry :( . So to recap: Chaparral 2D, full ballast, least aeros, some engine limiter. 500pp. may be slightly different for you, but worked for me, even on comfort soft.

  9. Brunskill777

What????? How are people finding this difficult???!!! Get the Chaparral 2D with full ballast, least aeros and some engine limiter, win by miles. Simples. People on these sorts of events usually use the chaparral 2J when the pp limit is about 600 and it wins easily. Now I’ve found that the 2D does 500pp easily.

    1. Flagmo-T

Well if it is that easy with the overkill use of the Chaparral 2D/2J why don’t you give your self a Challenge, by using some more difficult cars then..

I don’t wanna sound Harsh, but why race them if you already can beat them that easily.. for me it’s a Racegame, that should be exploring my skills and give me something to work for, not just a time killer for doing something boring like using a winnercar straight on.. Or maybe I’m just jealous because i don’t own any Chaparral Cars.. Hehe Nope! I Just don’t wanna spend time on a game that doesn’t challenge me, so i would make it harder if i like the Event’s which i do apparently :o)

There is no fun i winning, if there isn’t a challenge /Me :P

  10. Knapy

When the Ginetta is the rabbit car, it’s impossible to win… tryed many time still second… It has 35 seconds ahead of you after the 1 sector of the first lap…

So I changed the race opponant selection, there is no problem to win…

    I used the Alfa Zagato 10 000 000 credits !

  11. WonkyFonk

My new favorite car in the game is the ’69 Stingray because of this event. I would probably never have given it a try if it wasn’t for this seasonal!

  12. kargy

I was so excited to race this right up until I got to CS tires. With these cars it might as well be ice racing. I’m up for a challenge but I’m not sure what I would be doing racing one of these classic cars with tires from the era.

  13. BWX

    WTFPD
    Same boring format.
    Same stupid rolling starts.
Same idiotic rabbit car type race where all other Ai do nothing but try to block you.

Kaz/PD, you have absolutely no imagination.
GT5 A-Spec is an embarrassing joke.

So sick of this A-Spec format, it sucks!

If GT6 is like this but with 32 blocking Ai and one rabbit car, GT6 is going to suck too.

    1. HuskyGT

Most of the times you’ll end up even more frustrated, unless you play with friends in private rooms.

    2. BWX

If I wanted to play online, I would, and do play online.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the crap ai in GT5 right now that PD/Kaz think is fine because NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT IT.

Also, there are much, much, much better games and sims for on-line racing. GT5 can never compete with them in online racing.

GT’s ”A-Spec” or single player part of the game is where GT5 stands out… or where GT used to stand out.

Now, it is worse than many other games in single player mode too. So what’s left? 1000 standard cars and ok physics, ok gfx, sub-par online. Guess what, GT needs to get back to it’s roots to remain successful and I hope someday it does– preferably before I die of old age.

So I’ll complain and hope maybe someday PD/Kaz listen to me and others like me who feel the same.

    3. HuskyGT

And you are right about something, BWX. That is that we need to keep telling PD in what aspects they are failing, so the story doesn’t repeat itself in the future. I just left a comment saying this in the Silvia seasonals post, because there are still people leaving unconstructive comments like “stop complaining, enjoy a the game, be happy with what you got, get a life, yada yada” sort of nonesense that only worsten the situation. That’s not the correct attitude.

There’s got to be a ballance. The constructive criticism from us, real GT fans, is HIGHLY necessary for PD right now. Negative and offensive rants that end up in unrealistic wishlists have to be avoided, since I highly doubt that we are going to be taken seriously with such attitude.

    4. SonicConqueror

Rubbish! BWX was taking this a little too far on his behaviour about the Classic Cars seasonal event on GT5. A-Spec races does not suck; it’s awesome. This is no imagination. This is no boring format. GT5 A-Spec is NOT a joke. What BWX is saying is nothing but telling it like it is. So to help the people of GT5, I say this:

      BWX,
As much as you dislike A-Spec for GT5, there is still going to be A, A, A, A-Spec all-round. You can’t tell everyone else about what the people of GT5 have done to get you that frustrated; it’s just minor inconvenience. So don’t cry out loud about it, kind sir.

Anyway, the most irritating car to defeat is the ai-controlled Ginetta G4; a real car breaker, nonetheless.

  14. HuskyGT

    I just realized…

Where are the GT Academy cars seasonals? I got the R32 GTR today and with that it makes three cars already, but we’ve only gotten one Seasonal so far.

    1. UrieHusky

The current one expires today, I’d expect the Sylvia one will be out shortly. If not right after the current one expires

    2. HuskyGT

That’s true. I forgot these weren’t permanent. So we should be basically be seeing the Silvia seasonals today.

  15. Kratos_Q8

last hop is spec 3.0 if they can give us event creator + improve AI and get rid of this rabbit chasing thing

  16. UrieHusky

Oh no… not Eiger Nordwand Short Course.

It’s literally the only track in GT5 I’m hopeless at T_T

    1. UrieHusky

      A camaro Z28 RM?

Oh joy, that saves me.. 300 grand, except it doesn’t. Because I already have one, which I never use.

      Disappointing =/

  17. TokoTurismo

I’m getting a feeling that PD is redoing these old seasonals again… :| I hope to see the Boxer Spirit event soon. Oh by the way, I’m starting to get tired with the whole “chase the rabbit” thing.

    RIP Grid Starts. :'(

    1. Zamado75

You are SO not alone. :P

I personally find no enjoyment in trying to catch a guy who is 40+ seconds ahead. Especially when you’re forces to use pretty similar PP cars.

    2. GRAFX21

i love GT5, butWhen did I get my grid penalty? I’m always chasing a rabbit in front. man…now i know how greyhounds and derby horses feel.

    3. TokoTurismo

      I know right?

That’s my most hated part about rolling starts. What’s worse its puts you all the way in the back, only to chase them down in your car that sometimes might not be able to catch.

      The alps track. Ugh… :\

    4. e30 freek

I know grid starts should return with launch control for certain cars like the F430 and obviously the new black GTR that would make awesome

    5. HuskyGT

      Me too, man.

This is basically “follow the overpowered Ginetta G4 that’s 34 seconds ahead of you and avoid the cars that try to slow you down in every corner by braking at the exit instead of hitting the gas.” I tried so many times to win on Eiger with a 300SL, but at the end I had to pull out the ´69 Corvette that felt horribly unfair against the 60’s Silvias and Skylines. Even with that car, it was quite a challange to catch up with the Ginetta.

I don’t want to sound rude with PD, but if this is supposed to be “the real driving simulator”, not some “follow the rabbit” NFS-ish crap. Why didn’t they made up some system that selects your opponents according to your car’s performance instead of doing that “performance difference” nonesense that after long time analyzing it, I came to the conclusion that it doesn’t really help or make things different.

Also, they could do something as simple as to align the slower cars ahead of the pack, while putting the faster ones at the back. That would make a more interesting race, and more fair as well.

I was happy because of these seasonals, but although the events are being different, you can’t help to feel that it’s the same stuff over and over. I’m really getting annoyed with this.

It’s time to bring the Event Generator, PD. Full choice of opponents, track, laps, HP, tires, or PP. Even if there are no prices and it’s just an extension of Arcade mode, I can assure you that this would make me stick to GT5 for another 2 years or indefinitely.

    6. jagenigma

Well, this is kind of like the driving missions in GT4. There was that sense of chasing the rabbit but it was fun for me.

    7. BrazilianRacerx

Speaking about Alps track. I miss some GT4 tracks which were nice. Like the italian ones. There was also one in Korea which was fast and surrounded by walls… nice one.

They take out and put this idiotic Eiger…

  18. German wunderkind

I recommend the Beetle ’66. I tuned it to 450 PP, no weight reduction included, turbo stage 3 and all engine stages. You can even remove the bumbers in GT Auto. I did not go for the rear spoiler. At Rome e.g.it will hit 200 km/h.

    1. HuskyGT

I find that the stage 3 Turbo slows the beetle a little bit. The Mid range works better, but nothing like the Low range which is perfect. Maybe I need to play a little bit with the gears.

The Beetle has a really high PP for it’s class, I must admit.

    1. HuskyGT

I used a 300SL (not so good for these events but it worked in Rome)

and the ’69 premium Corvette (great handling and it works wonderful with Comfort Soft tires).

Also the Miura works well. Stock, of course, because of the PP.

  19. Brunskill777

I’ve done them all in a turned down 500pp Chaparral 2D race car but these events are nothing special. OK money, I could try them in a lesser car but just for now I can’t really be bothered. Poor reward car too (I prefer just getting a gift ticket as I’ve got all of the RM cars) and a TERRIBLE OCD. It’s a shame, hope the next events are as exciting as the Ferarri F1 challenge, and that we get a decent OCD. But since all OCD cars became full price from being half price, all of the cars that come on are terrible. I am complaining, but I’m not trying to be an idiot, it’s just my opinion.

  20. Hwangm

oh yeah, love it . the reason to play GT5 vs iR is for the number of classics test drives , thank you PD

  21. challengerrt10

    New seasonals are always welcomed,

but why PD double events already existed in A-spec? Instead of this we should receive events not present in A-spec, for example: convertible cars cup, staion wagon/estate cars cup, luxury sedan cup as it used to be in previous games. There are still many cars we can’t race against similar opponents.

    So PD be more creative!!

    1. Marcs2606

I completely agree, it would be great if you could choose what cars you would be racing against. However, the AI would have to be sorted out for this to be any fun.

  22. lldantell

    1. m8h3r

Out of the OCD and into my 0/0/0 trading thread. No intentions of driving a single one of these. Also I have 13 FGT’s.

    2. Turbo-Kai

Fiat Coupé? YEAH!…Got it in real live… 20V Turbo rules!!! For those who cares: In GT5 there is onl ythe PLUS version. I got one of the rare LIMITED EDITIONS which have a number plate inside. Mine is no.740 out of approx only 1000.
      Other differences:
PLUS: Black leather seats with tiny red // silver start button for engine
LIMITED EDTION: Red/Black leather seats, shifter, hand brake stig // red start button for engine // special lamella front grill
      bla, bla, bla… hihi

      CU

  23. Zamado75

I’ll try it when I get home from work, but frankly, even with my 200% bonus, the payouts are still poor.

    1. mercgoat

following the same exact order as before. no new tracks or race series for a while besides the academy one makes

  24. mercgoat

follows the same exact order as the old 5 race series seasonals with the same exact tracks…creative!

and the huge 40 second gap the leader gets at eiger in such a short race is total bs.

  25. KYD302

I used a 69 Camaro SS i found in the ucd and the only thing i did was change the suspension and it won pretty easily

    1. Lambob

slap on racing softs, and give those Lexus LmFAo’s a run for their money on the Nordschleife at 500pp. you need to create a good tune, but once you do, prepare to get sore triceps and brain.

  26. COLOSAL TOSSLE

Whats the best sounding meaty classic car, loww PP…any idea’s.’69 vette is a bit better than a leaf but not much

  27. petergyht

I was trying the e-type but its no good! I won the first one but i kept getting second in the nordwand track. Any suggestions for the rest of the races?

  28. Whodoyouthink

Comfort softs?! Gonna be a bit tricky. I did get gold with an R8 on one of the time trials that restricted it to comfort softs though. Maybe it won’t be too bad. I’ll check it out soon.

    1. HuskyGT

      Haha! Totally agree with that!

It’s just a matter of comparing the number of comments that the GT Academy thing gets, vs. seasonals, updates or DLC. It shows you what the GT fanbase realy cares about.

The only time that something GT Academy related got a lot of comments was with updates on the mini game’s trails, when they announced the Nissan price cars and Twin Ring Motegi.

    2. TokoTurismo

To be honest. I agree with both Yauma9 and HuskyGT.

I wish we’ve gotten more news related to GT5. :\
