I’m sorry to say this, But this rally part of GT5 can’t be taking serious, one thing is that is probably only Rally-Cross, but a totally straight Surface is way off, no bumps, no pits, no holes in the surface, Come On!! rediculious thinking..

Richard Burns rally will still be the boom, regarding Rally Sims.. sad sad Kaz, i really thought you where going for the real thing, But this is just Arcade Racing.. with out these things it’s just a Road curse with extra Dust, ya the cars will be more annoying ( thanks for that) but that’s not enough!! and yes it’s the most interesting graphics, but even that isn’t enough!!

DIRT3 Here we come..Can’t wait for that – F1 Codiemasters Here we come – Can’t wait for that too..
GT5 here we come <- Ups third place, and yes I have to wait… But then do it like it should be, I know that the age thing is down too 3+ now, But damn .. Baby race all the way, so thank some-one for Private rooms.. Hmmm

  2. Turbo_3800

This day/night cycle reminds me of Test Drive LeMans on how quickly the transition is, I’m not complaining tho cause having this feature in the game period is a lovely thing. I can’t wait to play an endurance race with the day/night feature!!!! We’ve already played the Seattle track with it’s sunset and now playing on that track with sunset actually turning into night is gonna be so dope lol I’m crossing my fingers that track makes it into the game and not drastically changed like “High Speed Ring” is on GT5P, very big diff from GT2 lol

  3. sthy

only 200 cars have interior view and 800+ only tinted glass and still not all cars have damage features

    1. Turbo_3800

Well the cockpit confusion was put to rest some updates ago I believe. If I’m not mistaken 800+ cars will have cockpit view but they won’t be as highly detailed as the “premium cars” will.

  4. Stu

‘OK, NOW I’m confused. Browsing the third video, the 458 Italia has a full interior. So, it’s a premium car, or is it? Because in this video, and in an earlier minimax vid, there’s only “standard” type damage. Is this some kind of special case, or do standard cars have interiors after all?’

These are demos and not all damage has been shown.

PD say the NASCARS can be smashed to the nuts and bolts and while this may be an exageration you can bet body panels and such can be removed.

  5. Jesus Christ

God himself is praying for november 2nd and is shi**ng bricks over the quality of this game. GT is the king of racing simulators, end of story. JC out!

  6. Berian

Does the light really change from day to night over a period of 2 minutes or is it fast forwarded for the purposes of demonstration?

    1. DW

I’d guess its been applied similar to how rFactor and GTR2 do it, where you apply a multiplier to real-time, so you can have everything happening say 10 times the rate it would in real life. So this way you can replicate a full 24 hour cycle in just 2.4 hours.

In this way, you could host a Le Mans 24 hour type race online, and it only have to last 2.4 hours, but you get all the experiences of the day-night transitions, as you would in a normal 24 hours, but in a fraction of the time.

  7. BWX

All you guys worrying about 20 locations and maybe only 70 variations.. I wouldn’t worry. I think I have it figured out. They are going to release the game with fewer tracks than we’d like and then SELL US more tracks via Downloadable Content.

Don’t you all remember a couple years ago when they said, or there was a rumor going around that GT5 was going to cost around 150 bucks and that most of the game would be paid DLC?? I remember a big deal was made about that and people were pissed off. I bet PD/SONY are scaling that system back, giving us a healthy amount of cars and tracks at first, and then will offer more premium cars and more tracks via DLC in the months and years after GT5 is released.

I don’t think that’s a bad idea either, casual gamers can pay the $69 or whatever for the disc(s).. then the more hardcore gamers can spend more for more content. This way everyone is somewhat happy. PD can make money between the release of GT5 and GT6 while at the same time they are developing more content that they can also use in GT6, if maybe upgraded. The same way they are throwing in GT4 content into GT5.

I for one would be fine with paying more $$ per track or car while we wait for GT6, especially if GT5 online is any good.

    1. Maxiboy

Im not sure I completely agree that it is a guarantee that alot of the game will be DLC, however I agree that we would all pay for it, I mean who wouldnt have paid a few bucks to get the SLS and the Nurburgring for GT5P while waiting for GT5?

    2. BWX

yeah there’s definitely no guarantee, just a “hunch”….

Oh, on a completely separate note.. I think this might be newish:

      http://www.ps3youtube.com/?go=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vDq5sEEcrI

The SLS AMG in Gran Turismo 5
Drive the SLS AMG in Gran Turismo 5 at Mercedes-Benz World. This July, set one of the hottest lap times in the virtual SLS AMG around the Nürburgring, and you could get the chance to drive Mercedes-Benz latest supercar for real.”

  9. tomek_pl

Kaz forget about PS3 and make GT5 or 6 for PC. With DX11 this game will look amazing. Just imagine the difference on grass and lights

  10. Devedander

Those rally vids don’t really inspire me much as to what PD have done with the WRC license…

    1. SEIDO463

Yea, I was wondering the ame thing, but just recently I found out that Blackbean Studios is doing a new WRC game of this year’s season coming out in couple months…

  11. Tompie913

The screenshots are VERY pretty, as usual. My only complaint is that the third one (with the Suzuki) isn’t a “true” 18MP shot. It’s just a stretched 1920×1080 one.

  12. terminator363

1st of all Toscana might have a road configuration (remember the 458 Italia racing on a open road? That could just be Toscana). 2nd what was the song in the last video??

    1. terminator363

I also forgot to add that for a snow track they could also use Toscana. (I actually read that somewhere?)

    2. Geo_212

A snow stage with GT5’s graphics would be BEAUTIFUL. Not so sure it’ll happen, though… I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

  13. BP G@mer

PD told us about rally tracks but I was wondering… There are more tracks than the toscana circuit? I can’t find any other circuits except this one, hope there are more…

    1. danielwhite74

Gran Turismo 5 70 variations (not including track segments) versus Gran Turismo 4 40 variations. Do your research.

  14. Andre

I need cockpit i can’t live without cockpit i live in cockpit 24 in day this is my life you can’t take the cockpit PD.

  15. ElieTheBear

heum why in the hell they never released a single video of a standard car gameplay ??? are they looking that bad ??!?

    1. Maxiboy

Yeah I was thinking along similar lines .. although there was one video of standard cars (they all looked pretty sweet except for blacked out windows), but ive been thinking for ages, im WAY more interested in seeing exactly what 80% of the cars will be like and not the premium 20% which we know everything about.

  16. machine4321

Is it safe to assume that the invisible barriers are more pronounced for demo purposes? I mean it would suck to get stuck out in the field on the top gear track when you only have 2 min to play.

Any way I hope thats why .

    1. tvensky

yes this is big deal actually, hope you can drive into barriers and smash something when you make mistakes or jump into air, so there are no wallrides “hit and go”……

  17. tvensky

I want to say BIG THANKS to PD for creating real night in game.. it looks so good… I love that fact that you are not able to see more than 10 metres in front.. ultra great.. i will have so much fun driving at night, the tracks will be much more chalanging than ever before! superb!

    1. Bernd

You must be joking there, uh ? The lights in the video are 1910-style, we’ll have to wait for a vid showing high-beam.
      High-beam in WRC-cars would show about 200-300yds/meters, I guess

    2. danielwhite74

You “guess?” Ignorance is the problem here. The lights in this video are indeed high-beam, and they’ve got it spot-on. I’d seriously suggest that you try for yourself how far you can see ahead with headlights alone, and no street lighting to speak of.

  18. gt5 im waiting

    WTF !!
    in vid #4
    is that a ZR-1 or a Z06 !!
    the sound is totally shit
hope PD fix the sounds before the release

  19. Maxiboy

Is it just me or is there a slight glimpse into the sound improvements on vid 4 @ 3.35 as the SLS rips past the camera behind the Fazza? I dont think you would hear an engine note like that on GT5P. Let me know what you think.

    1. Bernd

You’re right, there is some improvement. And I think, they’ll sound even better at home with a decent speaker-system. The sound in these videos can’t be anywhere near the truth

    2. magicayrton

I think it’s safe to say that all sounds WILL be improved.. just how much is hard to say.. but we’re going in the right direction.. we need to come up with a small list of definate improvements for GT6??.. maybe when this epic game arrives!!

Beats Air Forza wheel and air flappy paddles anyday LOL

    3. Holland>>Brazil

True it has improved i’m a big GT fan i also do have Forza. But Forza is right up there with GT.

I will tell you real honest GT Looks FREAKING AWESOME!! and will beat Forza in that department anyday.

But people that say Forza Physics suck are just stupid (thats an understatement) IMO Forza’s physics are better by a small margin.

GT has lots more cars and detail but the on;y thing i care for is how it feels when i’m driving the car itself.

The FORCEFEEDBACK IN FORZA IS AWESOME..REALLY TRY IT and compare it to GT5P, mouch more accurate and stronger even with the controller. I can feel when i’m loosing grip, even when i shift i get feedback from the controller.

That together with carsounds and Physics are the most important in a racegame.

I will still by a PS3 Just for GT5 non the less. I just looks so crisp. But they really need too fix the audio because it doesn’t even come close too Forza in that department.

    4. UCLA'09

Quit talking about car sound. PD has been doing their best to get us the right sound, but just accept the fact that it will never be like the real thing. Secondly, most people don’t even know how the cars REALLY sound anyways, and yet they complain. For example, I remember people use to say the F430 in gt5p sucks. It turns out, they were comparing the in car sound (in gt5p) to the external car sound they saw on youtube. But if you look at a video where they record inside the f430, it will almost exactly like it does in gt5p.

    5. Maxiboy

      @UCLA’09
So you say they will never get the sounds right, but you also say that they got them nearly perfect in GT5P? Im a little confused by that. Also I agree that not many people know exactly what alot of these cars sound like, but we ALL know what they dont sound like, and thats what they sound like in GT.

  20. Frank

    Beautiful transitions

But do we assume it is sped up for demonstration purposes?
Will there be an option for controlling the speed?

I guess its because PD didn’t model the whole Earth, just the track, so its like driving on a huge asteroid XD

  21. RavenZero

    @carbonfibre

Why would the E3 2010 GT5 teaser give us some sound samples that seems to be improved if it wasn’t actually.

I meant, about this point I’m pretty positive.

    1. Obli

If you’re referring to the E3 2010 GT5 trailer, haven’t PD dubbed the sounds, as they have done in previous trailers?

    1. estranger

These Forza fanboys must be pretty worried if the only thing they can say bad about GT5 is that the car sounds suck when as greeny stated early:

      1. Crappy LCD speakers output GT5 (beta) sound.
      2. Crappy camera mic records and compresses sound.
      3. Crappy YouTube codec compresses sound again.

It’s time to upgrade your XBox360 to a PS3, boys. This game is going to be a hit. :)

    2. carbonfibre

Stop using this pitiful excuse for the recorded sound.

My rage increased just enough for me to post this after reading that twice so shutup.

Now I don’t give a flying fart about what Mr. fanboy posted up there; as far as I’m concerned Forza 3 doesn’t even have a hope of comparing to GT5 where it matters. Forza 3 clearly falls flat on it’s face with fail physics and broken game-play, a botch job of a game held together at the seams with post-fx.

But Forza 3 has GT5 beaten in one area and until I hear the full GT5 in November it’s not a viable purchase + a PS3 with this crucial aspect being very lacklustre and not worthy of the looks.

It is beyond obvious what people mean when we say GT5 has poor sound. Sound is a huge importance in racing games, one that GT5 missed the boat with.

    3. Nemesis

@carbonfibre: Comparing the sound from a recorded session with multiple sources in the same room. Estranger makes a valid point. If you know any audio freaks use the word MP3 they will go mental on you.

    4. BLADErunner80

Load up a copy of prologue and it sounds far better than this youtube clip,
surely that gives you a clue that its poor video sound not poor game sound your hearing.

You want GT5 to sound great? then get a decent sound system to hear it on, because prologue sounds good pumping out of my 5.1 system, with large theatre selected in game option menu.

      S2000 snarls nicely!

If your complaining about sound from a tv speaker in a large busy convention hall, recorded on camcorder and uploaded to youtube because you believe thats how the game sounds, you clearly know nothing about sound.

    5. carbonfibre

You guys remind me exactly of the reason why I never should have bothered and I am the biggest fool here for not learning this.

The irresistible force meets the immovable object, you will forever be pushing the same excuse no matter what and once again you both seem to think this is an audio clarity or compression issue.

You are more interested in defending what’s there instead of accepting the possibility that things could be done better to benefit the future of the GT franchise and everybody’s audio immersion. Only together can fans influence PD but not if you keep quarrelling over these technicalities.

    6. Obli

I’m with carbonfibre and perhaps I’m also being foolish to enter this argument. It seems that any critisism of GT’s sounds appears to be falling on some deaf ears…!

GT sounds have historically been lacking, and I’m seeing indications that the sound – although somewhat improved – is still behind other driving games. Not being able to get a true account of the engine sounds by listening to an off-screen recording using questionable equipment in a busy environment is a valid point but it still sounds like an excuse to me. Good audio equipment should not be necessary to compensate for a poor quality source signal. If anything, in my experience a good hi-fi will highlight any poor sound qualities.

Answer me this; why don’t Forza 3 off-screen recordings played through my laptop’s pathetic speakers make the engine notes sound zingy and whiney, as many GT engines sound? Examples (first three results from a youtube search, so I’m not cherry picking here):

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5EkZoPcEP8
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDlE4s0X4so
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tV0WyKglNck

Surely we can tell from the off-screen recordings that the sounds are good (more throaty, rawcus and detailed than any GT game, to my ears) and would sound fantastic with a proper hi-fi setup…?

    7. BLADErunner80

Nothing foolish happening its a debatable subject as to whether gt5 will sound great or not, but what isnt debatable in my opinion is being able to judge gt5 as having poor sound from youtube clips.

The forza clips you played sound load and throaty even on a youtube clip so presumably even more so on a good sound system, but i dont want to hear load throaty exhaust sounds on cockpit view, surely those exhaust sounds should sound muffled on cockpit view if the game was to be realistic as everyone demands so much.

Most of us gamers dont actually know what these cars sound like, and many people complain about new gt5 vids showing cockpit view because they feel it doesn’t sound good enough!

All im saying is how can you judge from a poor youtube clip showing possibly accurately muffled exhaust and engine sounds for the cockpit view ???

    8. Obli

I’m talking about the fundamental sound, the base for which the sound is modified for the different camera views.

My argument is that zingy, whiney engine sounds heard in youtube clips of GT games cannot be due to the recording equipment as the Forza youtube clips sound deep, throaty and rawcus.

  22. idlestation

video 2: The reflection on the road signs is brilliant, its amazing how they sort of glow according the headlights.

The last video is mind blowing, if I didn’t know any better I would think that was a real racing video. PD knows ps3 the best.

I think they should add a little bit of driver head movement depending on the track bumps and elevation etc.

  23. eludethis

I wanna see tokyo SSR11 in the daytime with dark cloudy skies and rain and hail with 45mph winds. JK can’t wait till november!

  24. GT-Relentless

Thanks for your comments Organ-Donor and Nemesis and I hope that whatever “BIG FEATURE” they have to reveal really is just that, but the thinking I had on my last post was that maybe so close to the full game being released PD may? have spread them themselves a bit too thin trying to include (if all the reports of track editors and karying etc are to be believed) everything including the kitchen sink, and the WRC and NASCAR sections of the game may not be as focused a gaming experience as the would be in a stand alone game, but I agree with Nemesis on the marketing part, so lets all hope for some great footage in the next few months with weather, extensive damage, more day night courses, and whatever other features are actualy in the final game!

    1. Nemesis

@GT: I share your fear of them spreading themselves to thin. I’d rather have 2 correctly implemented features instead of 10 half baked ones. Most IT projects fail because of this reason. To much innovation without thinking anything through.

I really do hope PD isn’t implementing anything new anymore. They should focus on polishing what they have. They’ll need these four months to get all the kinks out.

I’d like to see a game play video of how it’s going to be with all everything enabled. Weather changes, Day/night cycle, Damage, Driving physics. I’m especially looking forward to seeing the difference in wet and dry handling. Being on a dry track it starting to rain and the physics gradually changing. Don’t know if GT5 will support this though.

  25. Fritter

Haha, just noticed the BP signs in the background in the last video. I wonder how many people will smash into them on purpose?

    1. Jakemania

I noticed that too. I may be one of them ;) Especially if the spill is still ongoing by the time the game comes out.

    2. Organ-Donor

      @Fritter
Same thought went to my head, I live right by the gulf in Florida so I hear alot of all that it has effected. Such a big mistake with no ‘backup’ plan.

  26. Vini_mosso

i don’t have anything against forza motorsport, but i think that the gran turismo 5 will be the BEST racing game until the gran turismo 6, because i think that a person that is thinking that is driving (the next forza will use Kinect system)without a steer or controllers is a little crazy and sometimes sucker.

    1. Maxiboy

Hahaha Kinect Forza …. just what the title deserves! Just imagine the force feed back youll get through your air wheel! Also I hope the air clutch isnt to heavy either… LOL!

  27. Obli

Love how the arrows reflect light in the last video @0:23. PD have done a great job with the lighting.

Still don’t like the way the cars snap back the other way when counter-steering. I appreciate decent driving could prevent this but I’ve always found the behaviour a little unrealistic.

    1. funrun

PD doesn’t represent unrealistic driving behavior. Possibly other racing titles may suit your expectation.

    2. Obli

Exactly. You have to drive it near-perfectly for it to appear realistic. As soon as you break the smoothness or venture outside the boundaries, the sense of realism is broken.

    3. funrun

Of course you have to drive near perfectly. When you watch real life footage it all may be so easy looking, that’s because these dudes do this for a living and the proper driving techneques come naturally. Wouldn’t it be embarrasing to pros if any joe blow could start racing and just keep it on track (at the pace you need to be at) and come close to pros. I mean look at Kimmi Raikkonen making the move to WRC, he’s been on a major learning curve, cause he’s been in kart and formula racing his whole life and he’s learning with each race.

    4. Obli

I don’t mind the challenge, and I don’t mind losing control, that’s not what I’m saying. Always drove GT5:P with all aids off on Pro. I don’t like the way the car swings one way, then snaps back the other. GT has always done this and I can see it in the latest videos. The poor drivers SHOULD be losing control but not in that manner. It’s like a pendulum the way the car goes one way a bit, then the other a touch more, then back again… etc. Seems a bit unrealistic to me.

    1. Nederland>>Brazil

Yes i’ve seen it in all videos it looks like the driver is hesitating right before he shifts

      very Odd.

    2. GTracerRens

It’s weird indeed. I thought shifting up is done with the right paddle and shifting down is done with left, but in these vids, he is only using his right hand and it doesn’t look very smooth and realistic either..

  28. franpier

there is a mistakes in the lighting seen in the last video… watch in 1:17, the’re are some shadows that shouldn’t be there, or at least less darker.

    Still the game looks awesome

sorry for my english, i don’t speak in years!

    1. Nemesis

I agree this track looks stunning. I love the sun shining in through the window and creating a red glow before setting. The starry sky also looks very nice.

  29. Niko

    @Andre!

Your not stupid!Your GT fan,and says:50 real race track,500 premium cars need in GT5.Not 800 standard cars, and maybe only 20 tracks!Yes,5 years waiting!Full hardcore GT fanboy, say:not problem only 200 premium cars,800 cars no cockpit view, and no problem maybe 20 tracks, and not problem 2010!800 cars tinted glass, and not problem 2D spectators!2010?

    This real GT5:Min!400 premium cars,all cars cockpit view,50+ tracks,day/night cycle,dynamic weather system!

And why not see Standard cars gameplay??2009 E3,2009 TGS,2010 E3 all show video premium cars, but 800>>200!This:Standard cars NOT TRUE ps3 and GT5 quality!Only 200 premium cars. That true problem!

    1. Nemesis

Please mate take a bit more time to format your post properly. This is complete and utter gibberish. Also download a dictionary plug-in for your browser.

  30. Pelle

    @HugoStiglitz_420
800 half-a$$ed cars? I believe many of those cars will get cockpit view in the remaining months. But if not, they are still beatiful-looking vehicles.

  31. Kenneth

This kinda gets me wondering, i dont know if its the physics,or the people or upload the videos were there driver absolutly sucks, or maybe even there doin it on purpose i dont know I just wish november 2nd was here so I can play it
    Pre-Ordered GT5CE YAAAY

  32. GTracerRens

Why do you start at daylight and end at night? That’s way to fast. Or is it because it’s a demo to show the day/night cycle, because this looks a bit fake..

    1. NotaSonyEmployee

Ehhh, PD just delayed november. Not the game mind you, that’s still novemeber second, but november 2010 has now been moved to follow august 2012….

  33. Andre

    If VW Golf Mk 1, mk2,toyota supra,hyundai genesis,fiat c500,renaul clio new,toyota ae86,BMW e46,audi a4,renault twingo new,seat leon cupra,renault megane new,opel corsa new,opel insignia,mitsubishi eclipse gt 2009 will be the standart cars and don’t have cockpit view i’m very disappointed.

    1. funrun

We have to wait and see. Some are those you mentioned and many others are just so classic it would be hard to believe there would be absolutly no interior modeling given what we have seen from Prologue and all cars having full out modeling. See what happens.

  34. TeamMoFF-No2

I will just hope for Co-driver Pace notes, and single on the track, doing nothing else but Driving Time trail, as they do in real WRC, the rest is beautiful and for-freshing in GT5.. I just hope that the driving is tough and realistic, some of the video clips shows some demanding steering, but that’s what we love about rally driving isn’t it! sealing around the corner, and jumping in the waves.. Dirt2 and deffo Dirt3 is showing great results in the typical excitement of driving a Rally Car, and not to forget Richard Burns Rally, and this will also be a mile stone in creating a Rally Driving simulation, actually so much, that PD/Kaz should consider making a GT5/Rally Sim on the side of GT5, where they incorporate the Track-Pack and Car-Pack of 2011, WRC has the List’s already :p and then update with next years , and so on, they could do the same for Nascar, 3 times the money just by thing smarter hehe The Sony Way!!

But great Videos, thanks to the grabbers :O)

    1. funrun

I think the only Rally Sims for console worth mentioning are the earlier Colin McRae and Richard Burns Rally. I mean this whole Dirt franchise is a joke and a half. For pure fun I prefer the first Dirt over 2, but is in no way in the category of simulation. PD must get this right so they can like you said possibly make an entire seperate game and make even more sales. I think for sure the all real fans of PD would also purchase their other racers. PD should have the official licensing for all motorsport diciplines. They’re just that good!

  35. viejaloca

Well, I do see the flaws that the drivers are making in these videos, but come on, cut them some slack! Rally in GT5 dose look REALLY hard, combine that with the steering wheel. Sure they over accelerate and steer to correct themselves. The physics looks a bit different from GT4 and in that game, if I was to do a dirt\snow track, I would turn off my wheel and use the controller because it was difficult to stay in control.

  36. Rick

    Just my opinion,

If there was a game that came out with ~500 cars, handfull of tracks, GREAT tuning options and tweaks, day/night, weather, and just half way decent visuals…I’d pay $100-$150 for it. This is on a whole new level and with everything that is being implemented… I for one will be the first in line for this game, even if they cut out all together cockpit views and half the cars and half the tracks…still a great buy!
    1000+ cars = Cake
    20+ tracks = Cake
Best visuals in any game = Icing
    Day/Night = Icing
    Customization (rumored) = Icing
    Track editor = Icing
    Etc…

I mean c’mon…who cares what the stupid trees look like?!? They’re realistic enough!

    1. Holland>>Brazil

I DO CARE FOR SOME REALISTIC CARSOUNDS THOUGH EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKS PRETTY AWESOME..

CARSOUNDS STILL SUCK!!! WHY? IF FORZA CAN DO IT WHY CANT GT5?

  37. GTfanboy

Cant wait to buy GT5 its going to be the best racing game of all time it always has been always will be.

  38. GT4EVR

The only issue I see with the latest GT5 videos is that it seems to be very difficult to keep the car in a straight line. Ive played all GT games that I could get my hands on but the cars have never been that hard to keep in a straight line. I know a lot of videos are noobs that dont know how to drive but the videos with good drivers show the cars going out of control too easily.

    1. danielwhite74

“Going out of control too easily” compared to what, Forza? Vehicles have always oversteered in the Gran Turismo series, it’s just that in previous games driving assists have been enabled as default in GT Mode.

    2. GT4EVR

Why in gods name do you guys always have to bring Forza into the conversation? Also if you actually read what I said properly you would say I was comparing it to the other Gran Turismo games. No wonder I get frustrated when I visit this site with people always bringing Forza up when its not even remotely mentioned. Grow up for gods sake.

    3. funrun

I think for those who aren’t big simulation game players come in expecting this thing to handle like say Need for Speed. In turn they are giving steering/throttle inputs that don’t match the physics of reality. To be quite honest it’s easy to be a bad driver, I see it all the time when friends try racing at my place, I can’t even say I have 1 friend who can competitivly race with me. It’s safe to say you need lots of practice to fly along tracks and in the case of Rally it’s a different feeling as well that not everybody can just be like pro right away.

    4. GT4EVR

Ive been playing PC racing sims with over seven years so I am no noob to racing sims , but GT isnt a true race sim. It gets close , but the handling in GT is easier to drive with that the likes of rFactor , Live For Speed NetKarPro (NKPro) or IRacing. I always use my G25 for a racing game , but most of the time I use the PS3 controller for GT. I have played GT5 Prologue and the Time Trial Demo with my wheel on pro handling and they are great with my wheel.

  39. danielwhite74

Unless I’m very much mistaken, that lone tree in the fourth image appears to be *three-dimensional.* =D

    1. danielwhite74

No, I’m serious. It’s certainly made up of more than a couple of two-dimensional planes.

  40. Paulo

Man Toscana looks like a lot of fun, blind crests, lots of undulations and long sweeper. Not to mention beautiful Tuscan scenery.

    1. MagicAyrton

I agree, but please get someone to demonstrate this track properly! It’s a nightmare to watch :(

  41. mfro

OK, NOW I’m confused. Browsing the third video, the 458 Italia has a full interior. So, it’s a premium car, or is it? Because in this video, and in an earlier minimax vid, there’s only “standard” type damage. Is this some kind of special case, or do standard cars have interiors after all?

  42. socomkiller59

I really don’t understand why they have the invisible barrier so close to the track, they should at least put it way out there, so that if we have an accident, we don’t hit an invisible barrier so soon. I’ve never liked that about PD, and it’s my only flaw with them.

    1. BLADErunner80

Agree, obviously invisible barrier is necessary otherwise we would drive off into the scenery, but a little more room before hitting them would add a lot to both realism and enjoyment of the game.

Would imagine this shouldn’t be too hard to fix, as the track is allready modelled, just need to push the invisible barrier back 10-15 metres more

    2. Jakemania

Yeah… All these car manufactures worry about PD showing their cars being damaged… You’d think they’d worry more about plastic safety netting being stronger than their cars and winning when you drive into them at 100+ MPH. On the bright side, whoever makes that safety fencing should be proud ;)

    3. funrun

Yup, I agree too, there should be a time penalty or short loss in power if you come way off track (for those looking to shortcut), but invisible barriers? C’mon now.

    4. Rhys

Its like a friggen toboggan run.

No need for steering wheel boys, just tape the accelerator and let the barriers guide you.

We had more freedom than this in colin mcrae rally on ps2… like 8 years ago.

  43. Andre

Thei show day and night transition only in toscana track so i thing day and night transition have only toscana and couple of city circuits i think, will see will see.

  44. Narly

oh why oh why cars sound like something you turn on once a week… why can’t they just make proper car/exhaust sounds, im not bitchin but i love to hear that rumbling V8 or so sounds its a big part in the game, at least for me :S ^^

  45. gtone339

Sound always crap (my bro agrees).
    Day/night transition: realistic.
Car/race car driving/racing at night won’t be able to see the track up ahead. Why? Watch the third video and you will see that guy crashing into a wall at night.

He barely sees the track ahead lol.

Hope we can upgrade the headlights in GT5.

  46. Sele1981

The kids on that videos who can´t drive cry about 2D trees… It´s details that you look about when you can´t drive…

    1. Maxiboy

Agreed .. and I have to admit I NEVER, EVER noticed that the trees were 2d. I guess I was too busy enjoying the physics and car library of the game.

    2. Sele1981

Yeah look at post #1 :)

But I agree with gtone339 that it´s very dark at night and you can´t see more then 2-3 meters in the game. I hope and think it is so because it is an rallytrack and there are no lights around you. If I go to our house in the hills in Turkey, it looks the same, you can´t see your own hand when it´s night and there is no moon :)

    3. Jakemania

Lol… I like how you guys make it sound like 2D trees will be the end of my world. I simply said I hope they make the trees look slightly better. It’s just odd that everything else looks so nice and then there are some trees that look like they’re made of cardboard. I put a picture link up to show what I was talking about.

  47. Stradivis

Lovely soundtrack on the 5th video.
(Dunno, nothing else to comment, just have to wait until november…)

  48. Jammy Dodger

    Random thought.

On the Toscana circuit, i wonder if when the race starts the player stayed still and didn’t move, whether the night cycle only gets darker as you go round the course, or whether it does go dark and possibly light again if you stayed still long enough in one place? Food for thought maybe lol

    1. Blinkwing

PD just speeded up the day/night circle.
its like in GTR2, when u can set the time-relevance.
so, in 1 minute, day changed to night.
but dont worry, the track doesn’t have triggers to control that.

    2. Nemesis

@Jammy Dodger: I was thinking the same thing. It’s time based.

      See vid1 time: 1:05
      See vid2 time: 1:28

It just starts to get dark note the position on track

  49. mickey

The second viedo – the ‘Engine Sound’ sounds ”poor” it’s supposed to be a WRC car and it sounds crap. This has been one of my MAJOR concerns for the past year with this game. Forza 3 sounds awesome with PX21 headset but GT 5, in my opinion, it’s going to be BELOW PAR & cockpit views in only ”1 fifth of the cars”

    1. greeny

You know these videos are taken with a cam, right?
      This is how it goes:

      1. Crappy LCD speakers output GT5 (beta) sound.
      2. Crappy camera mic records and compresses sound.
      3. Crappy YouTube codec compresses sound again.

In short, these videos are by no means a representation of what GT5 will sound like.

    2. leiwei

I lol at your “Forza 3 sounds awesome with PX21 headset” versus a cam audio recording. You must be so smart with your reasoning!

    3. Nemesis

To add to the list greeny made:
1.a. A lot of static because environmental sounds
1.b. A large room with erratically placed objects (Sound reflection and absorption)

    4. funrun

Lol…all hail the PX21 headset… the pinnacle of audio equipment. I’m gonna enjoy the game on my mid-end surround system in DTS. In the middle of the night I may whip out my Sennheisers headphones. I think some people over estimate the sound, those people should play with sound settings a little more (turn the bass up). I agree though that in comparison to other games GT sounds a little stale or raspy.

    5. funrun

Sorry I just looked up this PX21 headset, it looks like it’s a half decent piece of equipment. I thought it was a cheap little headset. Sennheiser makes some of the headphones for sure though (running off an amplifier).

    6. Bernd

We’ve seen PD reacting quickly on so many complaints, maybe there’s better sound at GamesCom and TGS finally

  50. jujube

Is it me or there’s two different position settings for the cockpit view in the Citroen WRC?
In the “jeux video.com” vid (the number 2) you can’t really see the shift indicator. It’s behind the wheel almost every time (minus when the car do a jump).
But in the next vid (the third), you can clearly see it all the way around the track!

There’s a point about how the vid is shoot (wide for the first, more inside frame for the other) but it can’t hide the shift ligths behind the wheel!!!

One is with Head tracking, the other with a fixed view? maybe?

    1. Substance242

Btw, with head tracking… I will move my head, but my eyes will of course have to stay fixed on the monitor, right? Not sure how this will feel (if I’ll have it), hope my brain won’t get confused by that strange behavior of outside world. :-)

  51. Dim

me thinks the cockpit view is the most overrated feature in general. it has been discussed for sooooo long but cockpit views are not fun in any racing game.

    let me explain this:
if your TV is the car’s windscreen and your steering wheel is the steering of the car, why would you need to see from inside the cockpit??? the bumper or hood view gives a better, clearer, bigger and more realistic view. the cockpit view is like driving with 2 steering wheels and looking through 2 windscreens.

I’m wondering why nobody ever mention this… maybe it’s just me but I really do not care at all about detailed and no detailed cockpits cause I think they are not usable.

    1. Organ-Donor

      @Dim
Because not everyone drives with a race wheel so not everyone sees 2 wheels. Second, being inside the cockpit of the car makes you that much more immersed into the game, making the ‘feeling’ that you are actually driving the car. Also neat to see how most of the cars you would never see the inside of look like. Its a big deal for me and alot of other people on here.

    2. greeny

      @Dim:
I’m with you there. I also prefer the hood view, even when driving with a controller.
The cockpit view is more of a gimmick for me.

    3. Substance242

Nice point, looking at TV (monitor) as a car windscreen… Agreed, plus I was never able to drive games properly with cockpit view, somehow I could not feel the corners and my speed. But definitely it is something I would try with new cars, to look around in awe, then switch it off and drive. ;-) It would be different if we had some system displaying world all around as, not just that small 2D static window.

I like most the one view I am used to in Live for Speed – no cockpit, low cam behind front wheels (great sense of speed) front wheels displayed. Still, anything is better than the cam hovering behind the car. :-)

    4. Crispy74

I also prefer to use the bumper cam (Although the cam is set at roughly the same height as the windscreen in most cars), so it makes no difference from my perspective. But everyone has their own preference as to what position they drive from, so I can see why those who find that the cockpit view gives them the best driving experience are more than a little disappointed that they won’t be able to use it on all the cars.

    5. Dim

      @Substance242
that’s also another good point. inside the cockpit you don’t get proper feel of corners, racing line and speed like with the bumper or hood view.

Pehraps the best (i.e. more realistic) point for cockpit view would be to place it on the dashboard so it could be properly placed with respect to your steering wheel. just my opinion again.

    6. socomkiller59

I like it becasue it makes me feel as if I’m racing behind an actual car on an actual car. In real life racing, what view are you racing from always? The cockpit. I’m a lot faster in bonnet or bumper view, but I like the fact that the cockpit view is there, because it really helps with immersing some, not all, players.

Plus you’re not forced to use the cockpit, so does it really matter that they’re adding it? Don’t really think so. And think of terms of today’s game. How would Gran turismo 5 look like if they didn’t have cockpit views when Need For Speed or Forza has them? It’d be a huge beatdown from a lot of reviewers in today’s society.

    7. BLADErunner80

For me it just depends what im doing, a race on my own for fun or realism i choose the cockpit view.

But if im online or time trial im definitely a few tenths quicker using bumper-cam.

There is no hood-cam, only roof-cam where you see the tip of the hood, not sure why people think it’s a hood-cam

    8. Substance242

Maybe for me the cockpit view doesn’t really work because from the 3D perspective point of view, it does not match the reality. In a real car, I am near the window and it takes about, I don’t know, 120 percent of my view sight width? (hope you understand) But 2 meters from TV, it much less angle, I never felt like really sitting in a car with this view. I would have to be surrounded by images for that (multi-monitor or something).

But of course I have nothing against it, it is just my personal view, I probably won’t use it much. For me is much ore important now, with night/day confirmed, weather.

    9. funrun

@ Substance242.. Ya that’s the real downfall of cockpit view, the fact that the pillars are so damn fat and you can’t see around them, or as you said have a viewing angle that you would in reality. It’s like sitting in the back seat of a car and having the entire view of everything. That’s really disturbing and robbing you of all the precious viewing width and ground. I wish there was another in-car view right in front of the dash, no pillars just the hood and the in-car sound.

    10. Gamer GT5

I always drive cockpit view for the realism. Of course I want to see the car that I’m in. I guess most gamers uses the bumper cam to increase their lap times. I actually started with the cockpit view on GT Time Trial. But i was lacking lap times. When I tried the bumper cam my lap times increased so much! Hopefully when GT5 when we set up our online races in my opinion it should be a feature everybody has to drive in cockpit view and no other cam. To make some of the races more fair for other drivers :)

  52. DaveTheStalker

As it was said in the interview with SCEA’s rep Chris, the focus of E3 was the release date. More information will be given as the launch date draws nigh.

    1. Organ-Donor

      @blah
It was stated that you could sync the in game tracks time of day with the real world locations time (so if its 3am on the ‘Ring in real life you could sync the track to be 3am in the game). So I’m guessing with real world tracks atleast, but thats just what I’m guessing.

  53. DrTrouserPlank

Once again the worlds worst drivers take to the track in the worlds best racing game.

I love that these people don’t seem to equate moving the wheel suddenly and only in 45 degree increments, to repeatedly spinning out.

  54. DaveTheStalker

It’s kinda sad and hopefully it’s fixed by Nivember. The lack of skid marks on pavement/tarmac and lack of tire tracks following a big rooster tail of dirt just looks dumb, wrong, out of wack, or just plain unacceptable! ESPECIALLY in dirt!!! Kaz should be ashamed if himself for implying such realistic details are “petty”.

    GT fan for life!

    1. Organ-Donor

      @Dave
Ya, unacceptable that we get day/night cycles, 1080p, 60fps, twice as many cars on track with much better visuals than the rival ‘difinitive’ racing game, NASCAR, WRC, F1, top gear track, track editor (confirmed?), weather (rumored), 1000 cars (200 premium but still a thousand cars), new physics, a deep and in depth online system supporting 32 player lobbys, and still more features to be revielved. Shame on PD!

    1. danielwhite74

Yes, tire deformation is a given. ;)
Yet another weapon Forza can’t use against Gran Turismo.
      gtpla.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/corvette-zr1-gtpsp-6.jpg

  55. GT-Relentless

Hmm I’m looking forward to GT5 as much as the next guy, but at the time of this post the only day/night stage we have seen is on the Toscana stage, we have not seen ANY sign of weather in any game footage or even a in a screen shot, and as for evidence of a track editor or karting lets’ face it despite what was said by the guy at Sony Europe none of us are really sure if these things are true or not or at least in the case of the track editor how extensive it actualy might be or not!

    1. Organ-Donor

      @GT
It was stated at E3 that the revieling of GT5 would be at GamesCon, and they are excited to show a new feature there. Don’t forget that they will also prob. unviel some new stuff at their home turf at TGS before the launch of GT5. I think the E3 showing of GT5 was just a show of whats to come and confirm a street date.

    2. Nemesis

@GT: It would be bad marketing to just spill the beans now they need to keep everyone interested not just the hardcore GT fans.

  56. andre

PD Please cancel realese date ant add about 50 real race track, about 500 premium cars, real damage sistem, skidmarks, perfect smoke, car custumization like in forza3, dynamic wether sistem, and real driving phisics a mean real like in real world, and remove those standart cars and nascar or rallie ok please please please don’t be so egoistic ok that what we want real fans of GT series we all wait this and don’t cry. we wait i by if you do this i pay for gt5 300 us $ and everybody pay don’t worry.

    1. BLADErunner80

Anybody wonder why we wait so long for this game? You haven’t even played it yet andre

  57. Moglet

In the last video, the ‘smoke’ coming from the car on fast corners looks ridiculous…. Who thought it was a good idea to keep that in the game?!

    Still looking amazing though.

  58. flimone

the night driving is too dark i think.. noone can see the road with those ligts… real rally cars have addictional lights for night rally… dazzling lights… but if someone tried this demo please reply

    1. Organ-Donor

      @ film
Kaz recently raced in the Nurb 24-hour race and said how hard it is to see during night races. I can’t remember who, but someone else commented on how hard it is to see during night races. It also could be a possibility that in the video they are using the low beam setting (Premium cars have working high and low beams)

    2. BLADErunner80

How many of the moaning brigade have actually driven a real car?

Sounds like most of them only have other games to compare it too, so yes its darker than some other games, but when i drive at night on a dark road with no street lighting it IS that dark.

Add speed and a twisting race track and you too would struggle to see.

  59. twinspark24

Positive: the way the road signs glow in dark is sweeet
Negative: in 2nd video I couln’t see a thing! why is 50% of the windscreen covered?

The dust behind cars…doesn’t it look…cheap?

    1. Organ-Donor

      @twin
The WRC car is modeled to replicate the real life car, so that means that it really looks like that in the real life interior. Also I thought the dust behind the cars looked great, especially how the brake lights glow in the dust.

    2. BLADErunner80

You all complain so damn much about realism and how the game has to have accurate cockpit view and ultra real trees or dynamic skid marks and real dust that hangs in the air.

Then when you get realism you moan “it’s too difficult, i can’t see where im going”

It’s a high performance rally car with pipes and tubes and roll cage bars all over the place, that’s how poor the view is in most race cars, plus there lower to the ground so even less visibility. And yes surprise surprise dust makes it harder to see, that a shock was it?
Ever notice how WRC rally cars start at intervals so they don’t have to drive thru dust.

This game is realistic, that’s what we wanted didn’t we?

    3. Gamer GT5

The WRC car looked realistic to me. I didn’t even expect PD to make so much realism.

      also +1 to BLADErunner80

  60. i81duce

The glare on the arrow reflectors in the 3rd video are a VERY nice touch. Again, with little things like this, I don’t see how all of our requests won’t be met (aside from trees and skidmarks, but nobody care(s) about those).

  61. Vincent

It looks like the shadows on the bales of hay are still not fixed, though this probably won’t be noticeable outside of photo mode.

  62. Philmangt

lol i think that citroen wrc car sounded like an electric r/c car. i wish it was a better camera and less background noise so we could really hear the sound

  63. Rafale

Erk, the sound for the Ferrari 458 Italia is horrible and the night falls in exactly 30 secondes

Very good game, but the sound is really ugly

    1. Nederland>>Brazil

True but imo all cars i’ve seen so far have sucked in carsounds department. Sorry but i’de rather have good carsounds than awesome graphics.

I hope the forcefeedback is better than it was is GT5P.

I’d rather wait on FORZA 4 in 2011 it will killd GT5 by a large margin

  64. ismellbacon611

mentioned the standard car vid because standard cars only have 1 beam i think its low beam …. and i think in the e3 trailer one of the cars flashes its highs to pass a slower car

  65. ismellbacon611

in the standard car video it shows the night with the rally cars…. but no video showing direct comparison

  66. Organ-Donor

Can’t view videos right now, my question is that now we have comfirmation that Premium cars will support high and low beam headlights, are there any vids that show the difference between the two?

    1. crazycrash031

The E3 2010 video, the one that revealed the release date, at 0:24 shows a Ford GT switching low beans to highbeans.

    2. SEIDO463

What about the vid where the GTR is flashing it’s lights at the car infront.. I think on the Nordschleife…

    1. Skidmark

Wahhhhh wahhhhh there is not cockpit wahhhh wahhhhhh!!

Omfg that all we’ve heard for months now, get over it!!

It also depends on what your favourite car is? I suspect its a 2cv so I imagine your out of luck.

    2. JBO

calm down skidmark with your childish remarks n for your informaton my favorite car is the 98 silvia s14.

    3. HugoStiglitz_420

the only reason why skidmark doesn’t care if there are cockpits is because he doesn’t use that view. excuse us for being dissapointed in waiting 5 years for game & find out that 80% of the cars are missing what is in our opinions one of the best features. If Forza could do 400cars in so little time, why can’t PD do 1000 in 5 years? why does there have to be 1000? why can’t they do 600 fully modelled cars instead of 200 plus 800 half a$$ed cars. this game should be a step forward in all ways, not a step back to the views of gt4. I wouldn’t care if I used another view but that doesn’t change the fact that it SHOULD be there

    4. magicayrton

I have to kind of agree with JBO.. It takes the edge off the game, our hopes and dreams from prologue destroyed..

However, it will be great I’m sure..

    5. WhoAmI

@hugo “why can’t PD do 1000 in 5 years?” Try to be realistic, 365*5=1825, 1825/1000 means that PD would have to compete 1 car in less than 2 days. If they did 600 cars that would mean 1 car for every 3 days. When I heard that there would be 1000 cars I was not happy because I knew there was no way PD could properly model that many cars. 200 cars is good news. Quality over quantity.

    6. Skidmark

If you are genuine GT fans you should be fans of Gt1,2,3,4 none of these had cockpits??

Why are people so nagative, there is going to be so much to this game and all people focus on and moan about are the nagatives.

The possibility of no cockpits has been very real for a while now but everyone keeps sniping about it. Just come to terms with it and move on. If all you want are cockpits nobody is forcing you to buy GT5.

If you enjoyed the previous games then you would have done so with no cockpit. Why cant people look at is as a much better improved version of all the GT’s with an extra 200 highly detailed cockpits thrown in as a bonus rather than just bitch and winge?

    7. Skidmark

      HugoStiglitz_420

I am assuming that your reference to cockpits being the most important part of the game means you have only ever played GTP and not enjoyed any of the other GT’s as they never had them?

How can it be a step backwards when there has been no previous full GT with cockpits? Surely at the very least the game is an evolution. Not a step back?

You have a comprehensive online option now, track editor, 1000 cars, damage, weather and day night cycles. I would hardly call that a step back…

Would you have prefered the interiors to at the cost of all the above?

With regards to your comments about Forza, have you played the game?? If all you want are poorly detailed and crap quality cockpits at the detriment to the rest of the game carry on with Forza.

If all cockpits do make it in, im sure you will be able to complain about the gear shift animation or maybe the trees not being 3d.

If the cockpits have ruined the game for you and made it so that you can only post negativity on the message boards then maybe you should move onto another game? Or post your feelings in the appropriate section of the forums?

    8. JBO

@ Skidmark well we knew that the past gt games couldnt have cockpits because nothing in a console had cockpits and some of us actually knew that the ps2 yet alone the ps3 would be able to render beautiful graphics and cockpits and for your information I have own and played gt to gt5 prologue everything was perfect just the only thing that i wished all the new gt’s had( gt3-Gt5) was the option to convert your street car into a full race car version of each cars.So u cant tell me that we only played prologue wen i been a fan of gt since the first back in 98 or 97 i …although i do agree that forza # have crappy versions of cokpits but lets face it a 89 crx cockpits is not a looker..sothey dont look that bad..not only that but have you seen the standar car versions..their jaggish..and you will quite easily see these jaggies your talking 40k polygons compared to 200k polys not only that but the standard cars seem to be made like the old cars from previous gt as oppose to building every little item sepperately on the premium cars

@Skidmark To say theres no reason to complain since the first 4 GT didn’t is and overwhelmingly dumb thing to say. Gran Turismo is entitled to more cockpits and not at the expense of track editor, not by a long shot. There should be separate teams for all these great things.

The cockpit view is absolutely critical for driving with the wheel, Even by your reasoning, GT1 and GT2 didn’t have the wheel, GT3 and GT4 did, so GT5 sure as hell is more than entitled to it, and it is well beyond a ‘bonus’.

@everyone but Skidmark Common people 200 isn’t nothing, but yeah, its not like theres only one person animating, making it one car for every 2 days. How about 20 people animating one car each for a total of 20 cars for every 40 days, thats 180 cars every 365 days, 900 in 5 years. Sounds reasonable enough to me for PD the makers of GT…

so guys i was wondering why japan didn’t get honors of being first to have gt5 and I came to the conclusion what if Europe and japan get more detaied cars than us because take in mind that it was because of the U.S that damage was added or else gt5 would of been like prologue just with more cars. Sony could so do that to us they’ve done it with the psx n ps2 version. Maybe japan and Europe are getting a “less car damage” version but with more cars with details a.k.a premium cars ,the reason i state this because in an old video of the developing of gt5 it shows a woman rendering the interior of an old Mercedes gulwing it think its the sls so what im trying to say is why waste all those rendered cars and cockpits and not use them because i dont think the gulwing is gonnn be a premium car in gt5..unless they have different versionn for different regions..what do you guys think??

    11. JBO

sorry guys not an sls they were modeling it an i 300 sl gullwing..sls is the new version sorry just getting the facts straight

    12. skidmark

      @ Frank

Resulting to personal insults eh? Thats the mark of an educated man! ha ha.Well done Sir you must be very proud!

Your calculations are genius by the way on what staffing levels at PD are these based on? Also its fine having all these people working on the cars for 5 years. Maybe you forgot about the rest of the game???

I am just getting sick of tired of people like you spamming every article Jordan puts up and also the forums ( which I have never seen you on ) with the ” cockpit issue ” its just moaning for the sake of it.

Everyone suspects there may be no cockpits for the standard cars. Its been out there for weeks not, some people just cant seem to compute this info.

Fine it doesn’t have cockpits, not ammount of whining and moaning is going to change that. Just move on!!

Or….and here is a crazy idea! Dont buy the game if its ruined for you so much!

If you want to carry in calling me names join the forum like a big boy and PM me.

    13. JBO

@Skidmark but it can chande because people like you who asked n complained about damage was the reason gt5 was delayed the first time so dont say it cant change because maybe they can add more than 200 maybe 275..so stop judging when it was people like you who complained about damage just to show how horrible you are at driving by showing your damage.

    14. aelange

I’m just curious, where did it say that American was the reason they’re adding damage and damage was the result of the Japanese delay? I do believe Kaz wanted damage from the beginning (excluding GT2) but wanted to wait until a worthwile system came out to exploit it. I think damage has always been in the cards for Polyphony.
      But I could be wrong….

    15. JBO

there was an article i think after last years gamescon that said that most of the email polyphony recieved from the USA was about damage and that europe and japan request were about certain type of vehicles they wanted…and i never said it delayed the japanese release i said clearly that maybe MAYBE!..japan and Europe would get a version with less damage and more cars as there have been different versions of gt’s for different regions.(scea scej etc.)..n the article i think was re posted on gtplanet im not if is or not but because america requested this they obviously delayed it to get in the game because i remember quite clearly gt5 was gonna be released with out dammage till people started crying about “forza 3 has this y cant gt5 have it”..so maybe if america crys enough we all play gt5 next year n get some more cockpits something that a good driver will actually need unlike damage that only show how bad people how bad u r at driving.

    16. aelange

I personally think damage is long overdue for the GT series. With damage enabled, it will sharpen up your skills and make you drive better by consequence, and I’m hoping it will weed out most of the punters online.

    17. JBO

@aelange..well not really i think it wont do anything to your skills because if u watch the top gear eposide were clarkson compare the nsx to the virtual nsx in gt4 at the laguna seca hes able to drive the nsx much faster in the game than in real life that is because he knows that there is no consequence in the game you cant fool the brain to actually think you will get hurt if u take that corner to fast no matter how great a simulator is..so people will obviously careless is they crass ass it will only affect visuals n some mechanical damge but most good driver will only get dents..its a cool visual dont get me wrong but it sure isnt gonna improve your driving if anything itll probably slow it because youll be too cautious(that is if u care about your in game car so much)…so you know simulators can only do so much compared to real world..get ya self a go kart n race i guarantee you the 1st thing to come to mind will be woah this could kill youif i mest up..unlike a simulator

    18. Frank

      @skidmark
I take the insult back, I wasn’t looking for such a reaction, the comment still has some validity. We both know cockpits are critical and we certainly got them.

My comment about the animators was just a casual civilian mock-up, only for the purpose of making it look more reasonable than the impression you gave, which is that PD have only one animator.

No matter what I say, I think the game is worth getting, more than any sim out there, its the only game I’d ever want to play (freetime permitting). I am always aware of that with every comment.

      @JBO
If PD are slowing down the release of a whole game internationally, I believe they’ll take into account comments nation by nation, to make the game better for all other nations. So what if America complained about damage, PD decided its valid, so they improve, and might aswell give it to everyone else since they made it or else its a bit of a waste.

About the damage I believe the damages should be expensive and the player must pay. It’ll still simulate the learning process, minus the fear.

Love the sun reflection off the road signs and in the wing mirrors.

Can imagine tearing down the mulsanne straightaway with the sun reflecting off your rear view mirrors unable to see that fast approaching audi until suddenly your out braked at the chicane.

Be like fighter pilots using the sun to surprise the enemy.

    2. Skidmark

      @ JBO

      What are you on about??

Check my post history in the forums and on these comments. I have never once asked for damage.

Seriously, if you losing an argument it’s very uncool just to make stuff up just for the sake of spamming the boards. It loses you your credibility on every other comment you make.

  67. Jakemania

Everything is looking pretty good. Sky looks great. Wish they would fix the trees up a little bit, although these do look better than the last set of screens =p

    1. Wolgibkay07

Well yea It looks awesome. It’s always great to see something new. Looking forward to the game Jordan :D

    2. Sele1981

I hope all the treeguys wishes come true and you get “the real treesimulator” soon. So you can play that and need no more CAR GAME.

    3. BLADErunner80

Would you really want them to spend time that could give the game an extra track or a few more cars, and instead spend it making perfect trees that you’ll have no time to notice as you whizz past them.

Look i understand people want this game to look perfect but are trees that importan?

    4. Jakemania

Nah, I get all of your points… But if you look at the trees (especially in the last set of pictures), they look like they were made by two cardboard slits placed on each other. It just takes away from the greatness of everything else. I do not need perfect trees by the way… But ‘the real tree simulator’ does sound epic haha.

It’s not like there’s much variation in the trees, so you wouldn’t think it’d take much to fix them up. Hopefully we won’t notice them while racing (or spectating whoever IS racing).

Here is one of the pictures I was referring to: My main point was to fix trees like the one on the left (not to mention the ambulances lol).

    5. tyl0r_r

Agreed. It’s a joke to hear people dismiss this complaint. It’s a graphics issue that should be fixed like any other.

    6. Holland>>Brazil

      Yes but the carsounds suck!!!
very IMPORTANT TOO ME..ALL THAT DETAIL AND STIIL SOUNDS LIKE A VACUUMCLEANER…DAMN SHAME

    7. Shokz

Personally I don’t understand people that dismiss the tree issue. Surely, like anything else in the game, you want them to look good? Trees are very noticeable throughout the game and their lack of quality stands out like a saw thumb for me, ruining immersion. As an argument against what BLADErunner80 said, I’m sure you’d all complain if they got part of a car’s body wrong even if you wouldn’t be able to see whilst driving.

    8. BLADErunner80

Sorry shokz but thats not the same thing, people buy this game for the cars not the trees so yes people would quite rightfully complain about inaccurate cars.

Look if i buy a game by the woodland trust called “Tree world” and the trees all looked amazingly highly detailed down to the last leaf, and there was 1000+ trees in the game, but there were a few car models at the edge of the forest making up the distant background that weren’t as highly detailed i dont think id care very much.

    9. Jakemania

@BLADErunner80. Did I say the trees had to be perfect? No… I was saying that they detract from the rest of the visuals. The sky, track, grass, dirt, etc. all look remarkable… and then a tree that looks like it could be in GT2 is thrown in. Did you look at the screen I provided?

With everything else looking so good, it would almost be better if the tree weren’t even there. Like I said, I don’t need “uber-realistic trees”. It just doesn’t blend with everything else.

It’s like having a beautiful painting of a beach with a fat, hairy guy standing in the background in a Speedo.

    10. BLADErunner80

Do what i do drive faster and you wont notice the trees.

Everyone wants a great looking game, but gameplay more important to me personally,
dont ever notice the trees as standing out as you say, and as for looking like there from gt2, maybe you should pop that game back on and appreciate how far this title has come.

The tree issue to me sounds like moaning for moanings sake, yet to see anything to make me understand how this is a problem for some of you.

    11. the guy who thinks the trees look normal

i dont know what you guys are seeing but i think they look like the most realistic trees in any game
