when are they going to show us the improved real time damage with the cracks and smashing, and not just the bumpers falling off, i want them to show us what they have completed right now… this isn’t it i know it.
I feel like PD is trying to hold back…like they’re waiting for the perfect time to unleash the bulk of info and revelations about GT5. According to the interviews, they are very much closer to the final version than the beginning-mid development, so I know they have more tracks, cars, and damage to show. The only question is to when they want to do so. Is there something going on in the coming months that they’re only showing us what we saw at GC/TGS, plus a few extra cars we never seen before?
Not getting that exited about these screenshots. Dont get me wrong the graphics look absolutely stunning. However the damage pictured is slightly worrying me. It looks like generic modeled damage, the boot popping open like that, i would have preffered crumpled shut as i think that is more realistic. also where the car is missing a door, that is the only visable damage on the car, How likely is that to happen in real life?
Completly agreed with you, how can a car be loosing the door with the rest of its body cleaner than if it was new ?
Hope they will show us some improvement soon. It’s nice to make big talk about new damages engine, just have to show it now. Without proof its just crappy talk.
One more thing, I don’t really mind if the domages are not improved, if there is no day/night cycles… I’m only worried about the GT mode itself, if it’s like GT PSP they definitly wont have the feedback they are expecting. Half of a GT game value comes from the GT mode, and I don’t know any fan who’s gona say the opposite !!!
ok.this game will be the best on the planet.but what’s these things. showing pictures of cars with a disgusting damage modelling makes me angry. i can’t wait till i play this game. it has been a long time since it’s first announced.
and now look at their hands. there are not so much to show us. what the hell were they think ? would we accept that damage model , 800 gt4 + 150-200 new cars and lack of tracks ? i understood now why japanese people looked so misteriously. they thought that they can joke us. now they are sleeping at their office with this behaviour. hurrying up to release it with no failures.
oh come’on be faster please. i want to drive that sexy lambo chick :)
That Lexus looks amazing. And to those who are concerned about the damage modeling… please. KY said nothing we have seen will match the finished product.
Get a hold of concerns and complaints before they ruin your life.
Somehow people manage to whine about everything on this site.We don`t even have a release date for EU and NA yet. You should be grateful instead that at least they`re giving us some screenshots to look at! As far as the pics go, they`re pure beauty, damage also seems to have improved a little, I`m happy to see they`re getting there, can`t wait.
Compared to Forza 3 (not bashing) it looks like the damage is better. Cause no doors come off and the back as well….also you guys need to remember the damage isn’t finished.
The damage in these pics are not the same damage we will get in the full version of GT5. KY himself said this is our first step in making true to reality damage. So lets just wait and see.
O, and there’s a Mini Cooper S with stripes down the hood in the back of the 6th pic.
Take it easy my friends, i agree with daus26, PD is just showing a few things now but in the coming months we are going to get screenshots and videos from another circuits, remember that in Meristation the journalist Ocampos saw an amezing video featuring incredible damage, and races during night, dont forget the last new where we learn that the game will feature real time damage, so expect an improve from the damage system that we saw in the E3 and TGS.
In every news i see the same impatience in the people, calm down guys PD is doing the best for GT5. Compare their work with another studios and you will find the number of years, and hours dedicated to the game will worth to pay 60$, when i think in this i realize the unfair prices for some games that only take 2 years to develop and give us a mediocre game.
In the 6th shot with the lexus, you can see how detailed they modeled the ‘world’ around the track. You can even look inside the buildings and see they have modeled the furniture and lights inside the building with the ‘premium’ signboard
Just look at the hand of the co-pilot in the focus (the one with the door ripped off)… it looks so real. It’s usually not the kind of detail I find on first sight (or find at all) but it’s just so nice.
nice screen shots BUT y is KY still talking about new damage and real time damage etc
and then releasing screenshots that were taken when the game was at its earliest versions.??
i dont understand this if he is gonan give us fresh news such as real time damage then he should back it up when screenshots and videos not this damage junk.
I would like to see (without explaining why, other than to say that the possibilities can be imagined quite easily by any GT fan, and that F1 by far is my favorite type of car to drive. Going back to any other type of car after taking the reins of a Formula 1 feels like driving a tank. To me, such a switch is akin to going back to dial-up internet after using fibre optic) an official F1 title from Polyphony or an F1 track pack at some point in the future as DLC for
GT5.
Barring either of these remote possibilities, my inner beggar would most definitely still be satisfied with either GT5 or (horror of horrors) Forza 3 having the Autodromo di Monza track.
Do doors rip off like that IRL aren’t they generally welded shut? I watch what I would say is a lot of touring car and F1 racing but I don’t recal doors or trunks really coming off like that. Maybe its me, I would be fine with simple crumple damage, or even no damage if the physics and a penalty system were sufficient
yeah dat back end looks alot like german touring cars deir was only a hand ful in gt4 i thinkg like 3 but f1 is my pastion n i love wachtin touring cars cus where always a close heated battle for the lead but they dont play the races live in da states :( their not going 2 give out all the bits b peacses of the final game just yet cus den people are not going 2 be intrested in da finaly realse so we got 2 be patient we all know dis is going 2 be the biggest game ever n best racing game ever so lets let pd do their work i mean fo real guys dis game already smashin on forza it looks like a new game cars turn 10 might as wellf put lightling maqueen on the list cus pd is going 2 take the show lol
oh and they cant put the new f1 cars on their cus codemasters has the rights since they are bringin a f1 game out dis year but i wish deir was more f1 cars n tracks on gt5
Damage – and pictures from an old damage build at that.
hooray.
As much as I want to see the updated damage simulation in GT5 – I would rather hear about RAIN and other possible racing weather conditions.
Second to that is night racing and third is damage. While I am happy they are finally implementing a full, physics-based deformation system for all the cars – I still want to hear more about rain in GT5. RAIN Polyphony Digital – RAIN!
1). Both the driver and the navigator have identical faces
2). The reflections [even on the headlights] and the graphics in general are AMAZING
3). The license plates no longer just feature the make of the car – they have country codes and actual numbers this time! Maybe customizable license plates are a possibility?
On picture 6:
Look closely at the painted road marking under the car…
The Lexus’ shadow even appears to ‘wrap’ around what must be a true-to-life raised (thick layer) of paint – be interesting if/how that affects the car when cornering or driving over lumpy road markings!!!!
Either that or it’s a very fortunately placed bit of bodywork that appears to project this shadow…
Anyone else notice that in this screenshot when looking closely it looks like based off the lighting that there is actual deformation and bending of metal going on here. Look at the Subaru’s right headlamp and follow it across to notice the change in contrast based on what looks like bent metal…
PD should release screenshots with the new improved damage they are working on, or they shouldnt release screens with damage at all. Since this looks just silly.
I’m pretty sure that all of these screenshots were taken around the time of the TGS. That’s why we’re only seeing the Tokyo track and a simple damage mode. Keep in mind that GT portable has only been out for a few weeks. Real juicy information is more likely to trickle out around the end of the year I reckon.
Nice I want to see some Le mans prototype on circuit the la sarthe!!!! Toyota GT one, Nissan R390GT1, Mercedes CLK-LM, Mclaren F1 GTR, BMW LMR12, Audi R8, R10, Peugeot 908 HDI FAP , Bentley Speed 8, R15, Pescarolo and Aston martin LMP1…
Assuming some ones dumb enough to actually put there real license plate numbers on their car (with state or province showing). Any trained G.O. or border patrol personel, with the right computer, could figure out where you live. PD wouldn’t allow this. Although other games have this, they are customized in ways unconventional to any country’s plate.
Check out the lights inside the offices on the 4th floor of the short white building (with the “Premium” sign in front) on the 6th shot, the one with Lexus and the Mini Cooper way in the background. The attention to detail is stunning!
cars look great.. and the game itself looks very good..
damage could get better.. this is very unreal.. it looks like only thing that can be damaged at this point is hood, bumpers and doors… and it looks silly. doors and hoods don’t open like that in real life.. they DO DAMAGE.. scratching, deforming and mostly locking up.. all other details.. side skirts, mirrors, windows, wings are deforming and scratching.. get dirty.. etc..
at this moment damage looks too clean.. too GT like – perfect..
if GT want to get real damage they need only 3 more things.. DIRT, SCRATCHES, CAR BODY & DETAIL DEFORMATION… and that’s it..
forgot to mention most important.. car body and body parts need to work together.. if door is damaged then the roof, wings, windows, side skirts or something like that is close to door.. just need to be damaged correctly.. it happens very, very, very rarely when doors are opened and damaged by themselves ONLY…
You people are retarded. only one track blah blah blah….this game is going to be amazing and i cant wait for it to be in my easterbasket when i wake up easter morning.
People whine about everything. I know exactly what the reactions of the whiners will be when EU and US release date will be set most likely to April due to the Japan release being the end of March: ‘ZOMG EETZ BEEN DEELAYED EVERN MOAR!!!’
Don’t worry about 20 locations. In Forza 3 there are 22.
The graphics rock it GT5 its so realistic.
The thing about “EASY” is that Kaz wanted to tell us that driving will be even closer to real live (to much sliding isn’t real too) which means that when you are sliding it will be easier catch grip.
P.S. The pics are amazing. Looking forward to new online setup.
The Lexus IS is a GT300 class Super GT (formerly JGTC) car. There is also a drift version of this vehicle with a 2JZ and 650PS that has had a ‘Gran Turismo’ decal across the windshield for the past few months. Let’s hope both versions of this car are in the game.
WTH is up with all these trolls. It’s either they have selective memory or they work for Microsoft, like the guy at Neogaf spreading FUD about GT caught red handed from Turn 10.
For the selective memory people: PD will be doing REAL TIME DAMAGE MODELING, which means all cars in the game will have damage modeling and looks way…….beyond anything this gen have ever be seen.
These picture are taken from an earlier build to get reaction from the fans/media.
Ever occur to you that maybe there painted because the real car’s wheel wells are painted? That’s what GT fans love though. Its those parts of the car we never care to see, but you know is there.
PD’s attention to detail is what makes it a GT game.
Ppl should just stop complaining about the damage… we know the damage being shown is still early build compared to what is currently being worked on over at PD.
When they show off a new build they wont do it with just pictures; they’ll actually use a video because pictures prove very little in all honesty.

October 14th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
nice! by the way, what is that car of 6th pic? I can see it’s a Lexus, but which model? *sorry for my bad english.*

October 14th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
In the fourth shot it looks like the co-pilot is reacting to the crash isn’t he?
October 14th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
He’s probably just looking at his notes
October 14th, 2009 at 4:59 pm

October 14th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
WOW. I hope we can dirty them up just as nicely!
October 14th, 2009 at 5:19 pm
Sexy.
Except for the wheels on the Lexus, which appear to be lime green or something.
Ew.

October 14th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
That Lexus is not a WRC car. All the aero work at the back of the car reminds me of the German touring cars.
I think they’re trying to give us a hint about what other touring car championships are going to be featured in GT. To me it looks like a Lexus IS F as seen here:
http://auto.tihai.md/lexus-is-f-to-take-on-speed-1487.html

Lexus SuperGT IS350:

The Lexus IS F is from the Super GT Series.http://speedhunters.com/archive/2008/12/24/review-gt-gt-super-gt-2008.aspx

Yeah, vanity plates would be a cool addition. Funny if some maybe distracted while reading and driving.

A geeky detail I also noticed -

The ‘3D mapped’ road markings are also visible on the 5th screen shot, under the Focus Rally car.
Is this something new, or am I wayyy behind?
October 15th, 2009 at 6:02 am

Great graphics once more… but…
is this some real simulator? WRC misture with GT’s? never understand what is the point of this, and a WRC in street road / track…
They need to see that WRC is in rally stages and GT cars is for track. totally diferent car’s to race against one to other.
:(

Why do these cars look like they’re made of plastic?
October 15th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
@ Victor Ludgero
I believe the model is a Lexus IS.

@viejaloca
Cuz your blind. If you wanna see plastic looking cars, look at forza’s screen shots.
October 15th, 2009 at 4:47 pm
viejaloca yep forza fanboy wrong forum kid

The Lexus IS is a GT300 class Super GT (formerly JGTC) car. There is also a drift version of this vehicle with a 2JZ and 650PS that has had a ‘Gran Turismo’ decal across the windshield for the past few months. Let’s hope both versions of this car are in the game.

holy crap. look at all these people on here. i have never seen a bunch of whining gamers with entitlement issues as much as some so called gt fans.
guys just relax and enjoy the pics. is that too hard for some of you?

Any one knows why the sticker on the right mirror of the Focus WRC (on the picture that’s facing the camera) is looking the other side?
October 15th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
WTH is up with all these trolls. It’s either they have selective memory or they work for Microsoft, like the guy at Neogaf spreading FUD about GT caught red handed from Turn 10.
For the selective memory people: PD will be doing REAL TIME DAMAGE MODELING, which means all cars in the game will have damage modeling and looks way…….beyond anything this gen have ever be seen.
These picture are taken from an earlier build to get reaction from the fans/media.

@aleksandar SRB
Go play GT4 or GRID then.
October 16th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
No really, The wheel wells are painted and I don’t even own an Xbox. You guys take it way too seriously
October 16th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
Ever occur to you that maybe there painted because the real car’s wheel wells are painted? That’s what GT fans love though. Its those parts of the car we never care to see, but you know is there.
PD’s attention to detail is what makes it a GT game.
October 17th, 2009 at 8:38 am
Ppl should just stop complaining about the damage… we know the damage being shown is still early build compared to what is currently being worked on over at PD.
When they show off a new build they wont do it with just pictures; they’ll actually use a video because pictures prove very little in all honesty.
Awesome looking game.. I am loving that Lexus!
