Gran Turismo 5 v1.10 Brings Minor Tweaks & Bug Fixes

As announced, the latest version of Gran Turismo 5, v1.10, has just been made available for download. Here’s a complete list of changes and bug fixes:

Racing Gear Items

  • New racing gear items consisting of helmets and suits have been implemented. These can be used by players in A-Spec, or for any of the “My Drivers” in B-Spec.
  • There are plenty of variations to the racing gear items and, in addition to several sets being given out as presents when you start GT Mode, players will be able to win new ones when successful in online events. Players can also take a photo of their drivers wearing their favourite gear, and use that custom photo for a driver profile.
  • For more details, please refer to “Racing Gear” under Top Menu –  [Manual] – [GT Mode].

Special Online Event Campaign

  • For a limited time, all event prizes will be tripled, and all cars appearing in the Online Collector’s Dealership will be brand new (0 mileage) and at half price.

Prizes for online events

  • GT5 will now offer online events in which players can win Racing Gear items and cars as prizes, according to performance. The content of the prizes and the conditions for winning them will vary per event.
  • Details of the various events are found in [GT Life] – [Online Events].

Parts purchases through the Settings screen

  • In the Settings screen, parts that players have not yet purchased will now have a shopping cart icon appearing next to them. These can now be purchase on the spot. Purchased parts will immediately be equipped on their car.
  • For details, refer to Top Menu –  [Manual] – [GT Life] – [Settings]

Improved Opponent AI Algorithm

  • The search range of opponent AI has been expanded and their intelligence algorithm has been improved.

Interrupting and resuming Championship races

  • In the championship races of A-Spec and B-Spec modes within [GT Life], there is now an interrupt button in the quick menu which appears after completing individual races.
  • If the interrupt button is pressed, the event will be interrupted and a player’s record up to that point will be saved, and the game will end. The next time the player starts the game, they can continue the championship race from where they left off.

Additional music track

  • After playback of the ending movie (*short version), “Day To Live/daiki kasho” will be added as a bonus music track.

Other Changes

  • Check the physical endurance of drivers that are resting in the B-Spec endurance races.
  • Sort the garage by [Last Car Driven]
  • In [Weight Adjustment] of [Settings], players can now see changes in the front to rear weight balance when the ballast position is changed.
  • The A-Spec driver is now displayed in the profile screen.
  • In the pit menu of B-Spec, the time limit for being able to direct pit work has been changed from reaching “0” in the count down, to “Until the car comes to a complete stop”.
  • The sorting order of the music album has been improved.
  • When selecting a track created in Course Maker from the course album of Arcade Mode or GT Mode, players can now run single races with up to 16 cars. (Excluding some tracks such as those made before the update, and dirt tracks.)
  • It is now possible to take 3D photographs even without connecting a 3D compatible TV.
  • It is now possible to export 3D photographs to [Photo] on the XMB™.

Correction of Known Issues

  • PDI has addressed the issue of the maximum speed set in the transmission settings of the settings menu differing from the actual top speed of the car. This will affect cars equipped with the relevant transmission tuning part, and almost all racing cars. Cars for which each gear ratio was adjusted manually with a full customised transmission in update versions 1.07 and earlier will not be affected.
  • An issue with the increase and decrease of the online logon bonus has been corrected.
  • An issue where the player’s car and opponents’ cars braked at the wrong timings in the pit lane during B-Spec has been corrected.
  • A problem where racing sound effects were turned off after changing settings in the quick menu has been corrected.
  • An issue of how dirty the oil is when players purchase a used car not being affected by the car’s mileage has been corrected.
  • An issue where some of the driver gear colours had changed after the 1.06 update has been corrected.
  • An issue in the championships of GT Life where opponent cars kept using the same tyres in the second race and onwards has been corrected.
  • An issue where the menu BGM was being played back during remote racing rather than the race BGM has been corrected.
  • An issue of the program freezing when opening a garage containing nearly the maximum number of cars has been corrected.

A new “Expert Challenge Race” Seasonal Event has also been made available with the following races:

  • Trial Mountain in a Fiat 500
  • Tsukuba in a Lotus Elise 111R
  • Laguna Seca in a Subaru Impreza Sedan

I have a problem when switching from 2d tv to my 3d tv. I have my ps3 connected to 2 tv depending on if im in the living room or bedroom. When I’m in 3d mode and I switch to a 2d tv. GT5 gets all freaked out and won’t display anything. If it can’t display in 3d, it should revert back to 2d. Right now I have to go back to my other tv, set the game back to 2d from there and then come back to the 2d tv. That’s annoying.

Is anyone else having problems with slow loading time in online play. I have 1,138 cars in my garage and when I go to the select car option and click on standard cars which has over 800 cars in it it sometimes takes up to 5 mins to load the screen if it loads at all. I have another account that has only 110 cars in it and that one does not seem to have that problem. So what I am saying is what is the point of collecting all cars in game if you can’t get it to load in online play. I love the new updates don’t get me wrong but I would rather see them work more on loading time in online play then what helmet and driving suite my driver is wearing. It is just really frustrating waiting for the garage to load and by the time it does if it does and you pick your car the race has already started without you.

  3. Gt_don

They need to do a big car update n put some old SKOOL fords on the game like. Rs2000 or cossie or BMW e30 needs some old SKOOL cars.

    1. OK

Your disc jump out of it’s case and beat your console to death with a mallet? Cause otherwise, software doesn’t break hardware.

    2. 'Round the Bend

      @OK

My PS3 died from a SOFTWARE patch that SONY themselves produced. Software CAN kill hardware.

    3. Tandy 1000

I love morons that think just because their PS3 crapped out with a game in it, the game must’ve killed the PS3. Never mind that there is a %100 chance that the PS3 will crap out, and a 90% chance that a game will running when it does. It must be the game/update, because it can’t possibly be that it was just the PS3 crapping out like what eventually happens to ALL hardware when you use it, and ussually WHILE your using it. And never mind that out of over SIX MILLION copies in the world, less than .0000000001% of users are currently reporting that the update broke their PS3. It must be the update.
      FACEPALM.

  4. Dave

I sold my PS3 and GT5 on Craigslist yesterday. I am not whining about not getting this or that. I finally just came to the realization that GT5 was never going to be the true sim I was looking for.

I had never played any PC racing sims before GT5 and since I got so bored with GT5, I tried GTR Evo, GTR2 and RBR and wow, no need to go back to the “pretty girl with little brains and no substance” when I had just found a few diamonds in the rough with good looks, stellar intelligence and an all around sophistication to keep me occupied and focused for years to come.

I played GT1-4 with controllers and dearly loved them all and finally got my first wheel(DFGT) with GT5 and it was all downhill after that. The basic force feedback is just horrible. The first few days, it makes you want to get your money back on the wheel. Real racing sims like GTR2,are just the opposite. The wheel feels right immediately. It doesn’t take 6-10 hours to get used to.

If you play with a controller, you have no idea about the FFB and the counter-intuitive wobble at speed issues.

Anyways, I have loved the GT games since the 90’s but I have found something much better and much more accurate, albeit, not as pretty but oh well.

  5. Foxiol

Tomorrow i´m going to test this update and found if it comes with issues. But i like how the AI is working now on the seasonal events. (i´ve just tried in 2 but tomorrow i´ll see).
I want more as so many people here but i´m still in love with GT5…

  6. Bfc_1882

Yeah I’m having the same loading freeze somtimes on load screen and sometimes when the race has just finished (on seasonal events) very annoying because I need to switch it off and loosing the race I just did. It’s more than annoying when you have just got first in the Subaru challenge lol

  7. RPM

GAME FREEZING ISSUE (LISTEN TO THOSE WHO ENCOUNTER SOME PROBLEM)
So the issue is that i noticed since after the latest update of GT5, there’s a certain corner in Nurburgring Nordschleife and Nurburgring 24h in which my screen always freeze. So i don’t have the option but to restart my ps3. I noticed that in SEASONAL EVENTS Subaru Challenge, my screen freeze in the corner just after the chicane at Laguna Seca! Damn. that’s so random because i always run in Nurburgring everyday and it just occured after the GT5 latest update.
I am not encountering a freezing problem with Black Ops or Modern Warfare. AAAANNNDDDD I tried to play in my older account which is my psn account during the Prologue, it didn’t freeze at all and i went through all the corners at Nurburgring with a stock civic since my progress is 0 . Basically, out of all my testing and sh*t, it indicates that only several accounts encounter this kind of weird BUG. Right now, I’m thinking of deleting my replays in my current acvtive account since I have tons of replays but my screen froze again in those 2 certain corners of Nordschleife and Nur 24h. Damn… POLYPHONY DIGITAL I HOPE YOU CAN FIX THIS ISSUE>> Thank you!!! I’m frustrated.

    1. rob

im frustrated too, i start a race and even when its loading it crashes, i wouldnt mind but i even started a new game and still get crashes

  8. Johnny The Popper

Give us new cars instead of new songs.

Damn japanese , Forza 3 got his first car expansion pack 1 month after the release. And then 3 months later it got more cars. What did we got? New song , new helmet , net racesuit. Give me new goddamn cars im not interested in new songs and all that bull****. Then endless fixes and other stuf. Im buying an Xbox 360 when Forza 4 comes out , atleast Forza gets new cars instead of new songs

    1. rob

how many cars does forza actually have? more than 1000? if not stop bloody complaining and just use the 1s available and make the most of a game that forza wants to be

  9. RPM

Yes I’m one of the people who’s greatful as well as CRYING! you know why? what will you feel if you are driving in your favorite track “Nurburgring 24h” and in a certain corner, it always freeze the screen? weather i use any different car just after this new update, it freezes! that’s a bug that is from the update. I know it’s not only me who experience this since many people haven’t discovered the new tweaks and bugs that this update brought into the game. that’s all my complain and the bug in which just after the chicane in Laguna seca (SUBARU SEDAN in SPECIAL EVENTS) my screen froze.

  10. Madonna

Honestly speaking, Gran Turismo 5 is a let down. It is a generation behind. If it was released 2-3 years ago it’d be a hit.

  11. pigboy

has any1 had this problem.when i started the tsukuba 9 hour when i pit it goes to a camera above and i can do what i want in the car.burnout in pit lane,no probs, and it wont change tyres.after this the game freezes,if i pause it theres no menu, cant exit.i have to reboot

  12. pigboy

online dealership should be update dealership, and the home button removed from the rasces menu, then when u go back and find it yo dont need it.someone got paid for doing that change

  13. Nicky_loves_GT5

ONE MORE THING, dont complain about the pixelated shadows…that cant be fixed with a patch. thats how the game loads the data depending on the track. go to tskuba..look at the shadows…then go to Nurburgring…then look at the shadows, it depends on how much info is being loaded….comprende xD

  14. gtpsuper24

Yes some will cry about the game no matter what. But am I wrong to think that there is so much content in the game already thats not being used to potential? DLC would be great especially more tracks to race on, but some of the discisons Kaz has made lack any common sense IMO. It was said that modeling cars can take anywhere from 6-8months so why spend 12-16months modeling the Ferrari F1 cars that can’t be used for anything really? Wouldn’t it have been better to do premium Formula GTs with a variety of liverys instead? What about all the nicely done ralley cars plus the standard models, but yet no rally championship in professional or expert mode, why waste the time modeling if they aren’t going to be used to full potential? Some much content in the game thats not used for anything other than filler content. Ever since the first GT game for the ps1 came out I have purchased all the other GT games on release day or close to it. The GT games are the only ones I play nothing else. Yes I will buy GT6 the day it comes out, I just had high hopes with GT5 after rumors and the endless build up for 5+ years only to be somewhat disappointed.

    1. Your MOM

I just can’t help myself. I truly am- Your Mom.

As a forty year old man (dressed as your mom) I hate that I think this is a generational psychology. Generation Z may never be satisfied. Not that I’m trying to peg your age super, Generation Z is infecting all of us!

But in regards to GT5 I think you and many others can only blame yourselves. It’s how you play the game. Nascar on GT5? It’s freakin’ awesome. Sure, as a comprehensive representation of the sport? Need more tracks, please. Maybe we’ll get some, probably comes down to licensing. But the cars and the physics and the draft??? NAILED IT. At any given moment online half a dozen rooms devoted to NASCAR. By that evidence perhaps the MOST successful element of GT5. Hook up with the right crowd and it’s a blast.

But here is what I think is the major accomplishment by Kaz, PD, and GT5: It created a sim racing universe. Instead of 7 days, Kaz took 7 years and said, “behold, this a world of virtual driving. A celebration of things in motion. Concrete, grass, dirt, momentum. Have at it My Children” And much like Life, what you get out of it is what you put in. Oh, it is a shame if you don’t race online. But there’s always something sacrificed in antisocial recreation. A baseball and bat are good fun, but not much fun by yourself. If you are willing to acknowledge a learning curve, race online, and in general engage the game you’ll find it is damn near limitless. You are right? The rally cars are nicely done and the dirt tracks pretty fun. Go race on them. Hook up with like-minded people and rally. Why do we need a rally championship? Why do we need IRL? It’s already there. Kaz provided the sandbox. So use your imagination and play the game!

When I race my Joey Legano at Daytona I feel like I am at Daytona. When I’m in a prototype down the backstretch at LeMans, I feel like I’m at LeMans. The sun setting while I rip up Toscana dirt in my Challenger RM, been there too. I’m always impressed by these sensations. Thank PD for a consistent virtual world of motorsport!

  15. Your MOM

Everybody crying, go buy Video Game Design for Dummies and get crackin’

Because, you know what? Kaz and Turn 10 and Codies, etc- none of them HAVE to make us racing games.

Keep being a bitch and no one will be making sim racing games for us!

(Correct me if I’m wrong but the gaming industry seems to think the sim racing market ain’t all that)

I wouldn’t work so hard for a community of petty children. Kaz might go make something like ANGRY BIRDS and enjoy the adoration of the whole world.

    1. BadLt58

Based on Kaz’s record delivery times I highly doubt he can just get a job elsewhere. Any studio that hires him will have specific requirements on game architecture and DELIVERY dates. Firm ones.

Your MOM when you get done hugging this guys nutz maybe you’ll remember that I was racing online with the Codemaster’s Racecar Driver series on old XBOX long before it was available on PS2 or PS3. Nice try though. Like I have said before when it comes to this particular iteration of GT its actually a generation old. Much like Toyota right now, Kaz is riding on past glories and has gotten lazy.

The only reason we have “standard” cars is to pack the game with content. The updates are smoke and mirrors beside the patches that fix exploitive glitches. He had five+ years. FAIL.

Heaven forbid DICE or Infinity Ward decided to do racing games…It would be game over for PD

  16. gtpsuper24

Agree 100% with BadLt58. I too bought my PS3 just for GT5. This new update is fine (except the suit upgrade) It would be great to have more cars and tracks (mostly tracks) But there is so many cars in the game already that are almost useless for example; there is maybe a dozen or so JGTC GT300 cars in the game but no GT300 race championship, there is a handful of lower end touring cars like the Integra touring car and BMW 3 series touring car, why not come up with a series for those? The Nascar in GT5 is pointless, only 2 Nascar tracks in the game and only one series involing nascar, most true nascar racing fans do not want to go through everything GT5 requires just to race, Nascars should have been skipped over in favor of FIA GT, ALMS, CAN AM or Trans AM, or the Austrialian V8 supercars. Instead of wasting time on 2 Ferrari F1 cars why not model the FGTs or try for IRL cars instead that could be used in a championship series? The game isn’t horrible and i’m not selling it, its just so shallow and dull, they just took bits and pieces from gt3 and gt4 and updated the look too it. 5+ years is along time to make a game lacking so much.

  17. replacement

    GREAT UPDATE!
    1) Improved Playability: resuming championship series, better AI, easier tuning/part purchases (great for online too)
    2) Brand New Feature: suits/helmets (cheesy but I really like)
    3) Seasonals/OCD: Can now win car tickets, plus high payouts and more difficulty, and half-price 0-mileage cars

I can’t believe people are complaining about this so much, the only thing I’d like more of at this point is rally racing (tracks, seasonals).

  18. RobboGTAddict

This update is fine. The ability to add parts in the setting screen is awesome. Infinion raceway, or Watkins Glen would of been nice too. But overall, the game is better now. Bravo.

  19. nomis3613

This is a fantastic update, thanks heaps. I particularly like
    – buying parts in tuning screen
    – mid-championship saves
    – weight balance now shown
    – top speed gearing fix

And the cheap cars and improved prizes are a nice way of helping to make up for the PSN outage.

  20. BayneHamlin1121

Wow, really guys? PD gives you an update, and you so called GT “fans” cry about how it doesn’t have this thing only you want. Then you randomly start ranting how Forza is better. If you really think Fakeza is better, then go play it, no ones stopping you. Kaz is just improving the game.

    1. BadLt58

Kaz is only blowing smoke and tying up development instead of giving us the game that was promised 5 years ago.

Its like bringing a car back to the shop to fix the timing and ECU. But instead Kaz calls you a week later and tells you he has re-aligned the wheels and tweaked your suspension and redone your interior. Thats nice but I wanted my timing and ECU fixed.

I am not asking for “more” I am asking to get the basic game fixed. And for those of you who say be greatful and patient? I have had my PS3 since launch waiting for this game. 5 years.

Other developers seem to not have this issue making great games for not only this but two other platforms (XBOX360 & PC). Kaz is incompotent. If he was out of the picture and under new management. we would be better off.

The wait doesn’t justify the product. This game is already a generation behind easily.

  21. Beiks

I don’t know what most of you expect in an update but I’m personally very happy with it. Gives much more than any of the previous ones. There’s a very nice selection of LMR bargains at the online used cars thingy and from the tripled prize money from the seasonal events, you’re actually getting these cars for free and making and extra buck.
The fact that I can purchase parts from the set-up page saves a lot of slow loading time, so that’s great too.
Any improvement on he AI is always welcome.

  22. RPM

I think there is a bug in the SEASONAL EVENTS of the SUBARU RACE. I am at the corner just after the Chicane at Laguna Seca and it froze for the 2nd time.. I tried to use the same car and the same Track but in Practice mode and it went well. It’s probably a bug . AND I always run at Nurburgring 24h and in practice mode, I was using my LFA and just around the stretch around 1:00 of lap time, the game freezes.. I tried it for 2 times. Hmmm.. PD you need to check those bugs.. Before when it happened to me, i thought it was a CD problem or ps3 but no.. My PS3 is only a year old and CD is all clean and shiny. I hope it will be fixed soon.

  23. Dave

    @Chump

It’s a slim 160GB with hdmi cable two DS3’s and of course, the wonderful GT5.

    @LoneWanderer

I got more from the racing sims on the PC than PD will ever provide. It’s my fault for expecting to get a real sim from a console. This will never happen because they have to cater to a different core audience.

  24. L2D_J-kirb_

Sony has a business model in Home that supports many “micro-transactions”.. virtual t-shirts, coffee makers and couches for your virtual apartment. I wish GT5 had that type of philosophy. I would buy rims…body kits..blow off valves etc. (way cooler than custom horns lol) I know it’s not that type of game, but there is a market for it.

  25. PoopShoot

This update was a joke….I haven’t played in months, that’s how bored I have been with this game..and for all you who are telling people to stop complaining you need to back off..this is the Internet that is what it’s for..that’s what this forum is for..discussion about gt5 good or bad..your all a bunch of saps that are happy with new stuff that should have already been in the game..pathetic..

    1. Old_Man_Xander

if you hate the game that much , don’t play it, whining isn’t going to change anyone’s mind, no one wants to hear it

    1. gADgYt

Would be better if we could have an option to throw Bob in the car for a couple of hours during endurance races.

    2. jOeDoE

Streakers. We need streakers dashing across the Nur. Then the underwear would be justified. You could change your drver’s undies after a near miss pants crapping.

  26. Dave

I’m done. PS3 system and GT5 are going on Craigslist today. I only used the PS3 for GT5.

I have fallen in love with GTR2, GTR Evo and RBR on the PC and GT5 has not even come close to those simulators except for graphics which do exceed but I need substance, not pretty.

Maybe I will try GT again when 6 comes out but I will surely rent it first. Good luck guys.

  27. Jon64½

By the way I’m reasonably sure we can assume they’re going to do something to counter FM4’s release. That’s just business 101.

  28. Sam

What a shame… THIS? After 8 months ? These flaws should never have existed in the first place. I won’t believe PD could not do better in 8 months…
TX PD for doing the public relations for Turn10.

If we don’t get some huge DLC soon, i m done with GT.

    1. rebla47

GT5 will have a DLC in october, with the FM4 launch, sure. It will include a pair of tracks and 10 – 12 new premiun cars (from standart), and we all happiest!.

  29. j8mie

It’s better than the smack in the face with a wet kipper, but it still falls short of my high expectations :(

    Maybe v1.11

  30. rebla47

They haven´t solved the sound click in partial times when the hud on screen is fully removed.

And about the update, insufficient after 7 months from game release.

Some of us are planing to give the jump to Forza´s saga, now it finally will have racing wheels.

  31. Kaz Yamauchi

“Players can also take a photo of their drivers wearing their favourite gear, and use that custom photo for a driver profile.”

This is the problem. This guy does not realise that new cars are required, not ridiculous additions such as new “racing gear”. He really doesn’t have a clue.

    1. Skiddy

this “guy” can put 10 000 cars into the game, and there would still be unhappy players out there crying for more.

The game has enough cars allready.

    2. rebla47

@Skiddy, not if the correct cars are included: more Ferraris and Lambos premium, RUFs premium, and the most wanted in the feedback forum.

    3. Skiddy

Who’s to say which are the “correct cars”? I bet there would be at least 200 more correct cars out there. You can’t make everyone happy. Kaz made one “mistake”: he put 1000 cars in a game. That gave the foothold to those who whine about car selection. “If he put this and that car in, why didn’t he put the other one as well?” Those are the players that just fail to understand GT5 concept.

The best thing he did here is that he gave a wide range of car types to choose from. He wanted to offer a wide range of DRIVING experience. Currently, no other game can give you that. There fore I understand why he went for the 1000 cars figure.

Let’s face it. GT5 DOESN NOT need one more super car. It has plenty. And you can easily transform many cars into high powered beast.

    4. replacement

umm, yeah…. i guarantee that you can get the performance/feel out of other cars in the game rather than “REQUIRING” that more supercars be added. The ONLY real thing it adds is more to collect, which puts it into the category same as the racing suits/helmets to me.

I have maybe 200 cars at this point, and will never have the time to really drive and appreciate them all in different races at different tracks. More wouldn’t hurt, but I see no real reason for it.

  32. DaihatsuDriver

It doesn’t say so in the bug fix list, but this update fixed my corrupted save file. No more not enough hard disk space error. I can actually play again

  33. gator of kana

The update is great, but there is one more thing I wish they do. They really need to make a quick race mode for online racing on GT5 or have the option for online mode to systematically operate exactly like GT5P. Going into a lobby/room and having online experience being based on a “host’s say so” is extremely irritating. I would hope for this in the future as the majority of players online hosting are wasting my time not starting the damn race until 10 or 15 minutes later in between, I don’t have time to wait for people to tweak their cars to perfection…

    1. gator of kana

That’s true, but because that option is at a host’s disposable, it’s still pretty much their say so in which it is used or not and as you stated, most people don’t use it. This makes this implement next to useless.

  34. gtpsuper24

Kaz is president of Polyphony Digital, PD is a subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment. As far a Sony selling PD don’t know anything about that, PD kind of does their own thing without Sony getting involved, except for Kaz extending GT5’s production year after year.

    1. Greg

Yah, I think “Uhhhhh…..” was engaging in what’s commonly called “counter trolling”. By nature that often isn’t based on facts anymore than the original trolling is. ;)

  35. Skython

YES!!!! My driver will have the grey and green now instead of the horrific blue. ANd I can change it if I want

    1. GG Rules!!!

      Go the Grey and Green!!!

I just wanted to find a car that had grren stripes that stay if I paint it grey. :)

  36. brainfade

they’ve lost the plot, STILL havent fixed the pixelation issues, no wonder sony dropped GT as a flagship title and is looking to sell Polyphony

    1. Uhhhhh.....

……if your going to make up random crap, at least TRY to know a little about what your talking about. SONY DOESN’T OWN PD, KAZ DOES. Btw, I just sold everything you own, and i’m dropping you has my flagship troll.

    2. lol...

Polyphony Digital Inc. is a subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., and is a software developer entity.

      What Does Subsidiary Mean?
A company whose voting stock is more than 50% controlled by another company, usually referred to as the parent company.

  37. Tony Rodrigues

I agree with this totally. I remember that too if you bought a game and was not good well yeah too bad better luck next year for you.

All I can say is I love this game and have been waiting for only one thing since day 1 and that is mechanical damage for aspec as a option. I know that ai is bad and that may be a reason that its not there however I want that as a option for myself if I want it on I should be able to turn it on not just in practice and arcade and online I think that all gameplay aspects should have that as a option.

Other then that to me the game perfect if they implement that. More cars and tracks well in my opinion I think we are dreaming if we believe Sony and PD would release more of either for nothing they will more then likely be dlc.

Regarding these little updates well better then nothing and we should be thankful for getting any really but they better pull up there socks over there at pd real quick cause october 11 2011 is coming fast (Forza 4) they are going to want to do something to combat that.

Going by what I seen with Forza 4 at e3 it looks amazing i did notice that there was no weather or night time racing shown so I wonder if they will be adding that and playing that card close to there chest over at turn 10.

  38. Hypergolem

I think this is a good update. Better AI is a very important element for a better gameplay. The new seasonal event is really good too, I hope they will give us more of the same style. I don’t care much for the drivers outfits but it is a nice little thing to collect, makes you more willing to finish the seasonal events. There will be more in the next updates. Good job PD!

  39. Pete

People complain about the updates because games are designed to be updated these days; gaming’s come a long way since the early 90’s, not all of it in the right direction. If we could go back to the 90’s I’d be loving it – it’s been ages since I’ve bought a full game off the shelf!

  40. Jon64½

Wow I feel old. I remember when I bought a game in the early 90’s if it sucked, too bad… I can’t believe how lame some of you are for complaining about free updates. The fact that we can even have updates these days is amazing. If any of you are game developers and actually know something about what you are complaining about, than please do tell, otherwise please leave the people who are enjoying the product alone. Maybe there are reasons for why they aren’t patching certain aspects of the game. It’s questionable that you would keep playing a game that you are so unsatisfied with. Another alternative would be to not play, and wait down the road for a few more updates to come and then see if you are happy. Or maybe it’s in fact time for you to move on. We won’t miss your complaints…

    1. BadLt58

@Jon remember the good old days when the game came out and it worked?? Remember when you could adjust the AI and not just win every race? Remember when navigation worked and made sense? Remember when you had more tracks like Midfield, Moetgi, and a Test Track?

Yeah we don’t need all that crap..

  41. Amac500

Finally, in game saves!!!!! Being able to get more options for yor driver is great!!!!! Little disappointed I can’t customize my cars though, in way of changing the base color of any car abd the car number if it has it. I wish we could get those 25 tracks and some new cars, really more new Le mans car or making current ones premium like the BMW V12. The new Le mans cars I want are the Audi R18, the Peugeot 90X, the Aston Martin AMR-One, the Aston Martin DBR9 gt Le mans car, and the current corvette Le mans car, and the 458 Italia Le mans car.

    1. HKS racer

For all that Le Mans stuff your best bet is rFactor, but there are no proper 458 LM cars yet because it’s a fresh new model and they have to build it

  42. CRY ME A RIVER

Even if PD dropped a couple of new tracks on us, people would be whining that they were the wrong one’s.
If u cry babies are that sad, maybe u should sell PS3/GT5 & wait for FM4.

    1. Dave

The PS3 by itself would bring more money than the GT5/PS3 combo…..heh. Oh also, screw FM4. No need to wait for anything as the best true Sims are on the PC right now. There is a lot PD could learn from GTR2, Rfactor, IRacing, RBR.

    2. BadLt58

Kaz should give that a try. Because I sure as hell didn’t ask for new uniforms and helmets. He burned through all that development cash but I have to go back to the main menu every time I want to finish a seasonal. Awesome! [sarcasm]

  43. haha

for a limited time? that could be a week, a month, a few months….well looks like its time to start credit farming before its too late!

  44. NICKY_LOVES_GT5

what’s with the long faces?….this update has fixed lots of bugs, and problems. you people complain about no having new cars, or tracks. well in case you didn’t know. PD want to fully fix pretty much every bug in the game before releasing any new DLC. or im wrong and We are not getting nothing new. xD

but this update. includes one of the things i’ve been wanting since i started the game….NEW RACING DRIVER GEARS :D!!! fnly!

  45. Not Sure

The one fix ive been waiting for (other than some kind of update for standard cars)… why cant I use cars in my GARAGE for ARCADE mode?? Itd be nice to race split screen with descent vehicles, just sayin

    1. Pete

I’m with you on this; Arcade mode should pretty just be a 1p lobby room with the ability to add bots.

    2. Pete

Wow, missing words from my comment there, wish there was an edit option. Anyways, I’ve found I’ll just use a lobby instead of arcade mode; thankfully I can network two consoles for 2P fun, but if you could do drop-in-drop-out splitscreen in a lobby it’d be great.

  46. John

GOD I cant believe they added crap like but DIDNT ADD ANYTHING LIKE , PD is so bad and I’m so mad!

  47. Drewbg

Turned ps3 on….. Updated to 1.1…. Gt life….. Froze!!!! Restarted…… Froze!…..Restarted…. Seasonal race at sega….. No sound, unable to use start menu to restart……. Finished the race and just kept going round & round. BUGS!!!!!!!

  48. JayKayEm

I wonder what unrequested feature will be in the next patch?

Better choice of footwell floor mats?

Ability to listen to the car FM radio, with the DJ native speaking for that particular track location?

The ability to go down the “virtual post office” to buy car tax?

    The PD update lottery.

    1. BadLt58

Dude Kaz just makes it up as he goes along. This Patch was a baby step but I bet production meetings are a doozy.

Stares and befuddled looks like “he wants to do what?” It is so obvious that he is pulling sh$t out of his @$$.

Its a driving simulator. I have no desire to walk around the track. Maybe he should work on PS Home.

  49. Wow

We have been waiting and waiting, this is the best they could come up with?? Sad.. PD your failing.. Gt5 is the only reason i play Ps3.. and im bout to stop..

  50. JayKayEm

It really does feel like you bang your head against a wall with PD ignoring its fanbase.

I have NEVER EVER read someone – in all these forums – complaining about the lack of race suit customisation, and yet it gets programmed in.

    Unbelievable.

So, as a patch, I can customise my race suit, but I can’t change the wheels on my ‘standard’ car; when all the wheels exist anyway.

    Amazing.

Why tripple prizes NOW when we have been struggling for 6 months? I’m 95% complete and have all the cars I want. Prize money is largely irrelivant now.

    Pure PD. Pure pure PD.

    1. HKS racer

For your mental health I suggest all of you to stop askin why, I was wondering the same things some months ago but I came up there is no answer. So it’s better to stop wondering why these things happens this is just the way it is. They mix genius things with weird and illogic stuff. I’m not complaining because the created new helmet and gears instead of something else, it’s a nice idea I like it, off course your idea is another great one, but as you can see reading the forums there are so many things they could add.. possibilities are endless, so the complaints, even on GT6, graphics will improve we’ll find more cars, but people will never stop their requests, it’s their right and I don’t blame them for this, but GT5 is not the only racing game. There are other platforms, simulators as Iracing, rFactor, GTR2/Evo/Race07 it’s up to you choose the product that better suits your needs. You don’t have to own only GT series games.

  51. Andy

I’m still wating for my tripled prizes.

I was in a room with a friend today. We did 10 laps of Daytona, first place gets 9k, second gets 6k. What gives????

    1. Versatile

The events are already tripled as of yesterday. From what I’ve seen, A-spec, B-spec, and online events aren’t tripled. However, “Special Events” are in fact tripled.

ex: Instead of getting 102k for daytona, you would recieve 306k.

    2. Correction

Some of the seasonals have been upped in both credits, and experience. Muscle car event is now up to 300,000 credits, previously about 110,000. A number of others are simular percentages. So, not tripled, but pretty close. Supercar challenge is not one of them though. If your not seeing the changes, something is wrong with your game.

  52. Skiddy

Not bad. I’m glad they didn’t put endurance saves in it. Why? Enabling endurance save wouldn’t be fair to all those players that finished the endurance races without the save option.

Racing gear: very interesting.. I haven’t seen one complaint about the lack of racing gear and PD decides to put it in the update.. How very PD.. I like it.

    1. Hawkmoon

      @Skiddy,
So your just going to ignore all the medical advise/evidence that says you should take regular breaks and not play for more than a few hours at a time. Or do toilet/food breaks when the game is just paused no count!

  53. Benmastaw00t

The level of cry babies in the comments section is almost unfathomable. Would people rather play a game that keeps improving itself over time, or settle with a game that promises but doesn’t deliver like Forza?

    1. Dave

I’d rather play a great racing sim that is slightly less pretty but has great physics, AI and FFB. This is why I have been playing GTR 2 on the PC for the past 3 months and hoping for and waiting for the guts of GT5 to catch up with pretty bits.

  54. SpawBlack

There are some cars I don’t want to buy but we are dicated to buy them just to do these event races. I don’t want these cars PD!!!!!!

  55. Sy

So whens the invisible car update so I can see my new racesuit all the time!! JESUS!
More PREMIUM CARS please!! More tracks and more events!! How hard can it be!

    1. Benmastaw00t

How hard can it be? I’ll tell you, it takes a developer an average of 8-10 months to fully model, texture and implement one (1) car or track into a game like GT5. I’m just informing you so the next time you are about to start another cry fest, you’ll at least be able to think before you speak.

    2. shigllgetcha

PD said thats how long it takes, if you beleive them your a bigger fool than the person your flaming

  56. LeftyWright

I guess the online stuff needed to be dealt with but there is a large contingent of players who hardly ever go on line and things like the replay future without a frame by frame or a rewind feature just doesn’t make any sense. Those capabilities are so important that I can’t believe that nothing about them is even mentioned by PD, what a shame.

  57. Fureddo

Great to know that they tweaked a few glitches here and there…but it sounds like the real deal is not under the hood yet. I mean no graphic enhancement (yeah, I’m still very unsatisfied with the pixelated shadows and aliased edges), no additional circuit, no premium only cars…my list could go on and on. And please, no earthquake/tsunami/Tepco bs excuse. I live in Tokyo, and “normal” life resumed just one week after the terrible disaster that hit NORTHERN Japan. So PD dudes, get to work!

  58. SpawBlack

Trying to do the Seasonal Event Race on Laguna Seca and it specifies that we use the Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STI(18inch BBS Wheel Option) ’10 and that car is not at the Premium Dealer. I do have that car but it does not state that it is the (BBS Wheel Option) ’10 nor does it state that at the Premium Dealership. So what’s going on here then??? Is it that all consoles differ in some way why some things work and others don’t or what? Very disappointing with the lack of Quality Assurance.

  59. GTP_Jump_Ace

How about we raise the 20 mil. max? I’ve been at 20 mil since march. I get absolutely 0 incentive to win a race online anymore (40/40 Specs) :(

How about they fix the issue with the front/rear suspension settings being switched.

Great addition of adding the kart so I can buy parts to be competitive for more races w/o having to write the room # down and come back, thanks for that!

Now, how about letting the room host pick a car from his garage and everyone can drive/tune it for that race? That’d be HOTNESS.

    Jerome

  60. doblootje

6 years of development and almost 1 year of additional patching. They should be darn ashamed of themselves.

So many disappointed gamers, few happy….

GT hast lost it’s momentum and it’s crown. Other games fill in all the blanks PD has left. A good driving model just doesn’t cut it anymore these days

    1. Mike

Where was I when “just over 6 months” became “almost 1 year”?

Allow me to rephrase… “So many needy, spoiled, gamers that are have no attention spans.”

  61. vinyin

I’m glad they’re still updating the game. Every update is welcome. They could have let it alone. I’m actually checking every thursday for new sessional events.

  62. Dave

Oh well, I was hoping for something to make me want to turn on the PS3 on again(off for 3 months). Back to the PC and Real racing sims such as Richard Burns Rally, GTR 2 and GTR Evo.

If they could take the “pretty” from GT5 and put it in these PC Sims or take the guts from GTR2 and put it in GT5, then GT5 would be a true sim and pretty too.

  63. pgagoober

Nice update. Thanks PD. Love the tuning purchase option and the championship saves. Half-price OCD is nice too. Spent a bunch of cash last night :)

Would love to be able to save during an endurance but I have to agree that would eliminate the endurance part of it ;) As suggested earlier in the thread, a great compromise would be an option to share the driving duty with online friends. That would be a blast.

  64. Brad

I certainly understand the strife which Japan is going through and commend PDI for their continued efforts…

…However, I would be curious to understand what their prioritization on enhancements / fixes and general roadmap is as it relates to GT5, and maybe even GT6. There are certainly a couple good updates in this patch, but then there are some things which would seem to take a significant amount of work and offer very little to the core of the game. I am a bit puzzled by some of it.

  65. pigboy

anything is a bonus.nothins makin me try to better meself,so many vairiables, cockpit view is wicked.real lemans this week,a seasonal le mans makes sense

  66. GTP_

Finally, they’ve allowed us to buy tuning parts from the settings screen. That is awesome.

Now they just need to gives us leaderboards and fix the 900 degree steering on the F1 cars and I’ll be a very happy man.

  67. sind3ntosca

simply say “thanks PD”… is it so hard for you? why should u put sad faces? ckckk…the #1 vote in Feedback is “In Race Saves” …and they give it to you… we should be grateful for just that one… but PD give us more… be thankful, and respect for PD. Cheers :)

    1. JayKayEm

Well, its in-championship saves actually. Different to that #1 request to help with 24Hr Endurance etc.

  68. Jacob

All These Updates But Still Some Cars Sounds Are Not Improved !!!! And No Upgrade For Brakes! And So Many Issues That I Cant Remember Now !

  69. alexgontijo

Nice fixes but still what everybody wanted is missing: full G25/27 support and endurance saves. I am going to sell my G27 and buy a DFGT… :( In fact, stop playing it until something is done.

    1. Not fallen 4 it

They’re supposed to come monthly from now on. Not every two weeks. And according to what seemed like 3/4 of the people on the internet THIS one was supposed to be a big one with premiums as well, so not holding my breath.

  70. pigboy

in the tsukuba seasonal you can do whatever you want in the pits…burnouts, and its a tv camera view from up high??

  71. Baldo

After the update my Gt 3 Rs V2 get sometimes disconnected for fractions of a second when i brake, someone else has experienced disconnection problem with fanatec wheels after the update? :(

  72. Demon2330

My PS3 did the update at around 2am UK time via PSN Plus auto update.

Hmm interesting at least now i can take some shots and have a look at them on the 3DS as GT5 saves in .MPO Which is the same format as the 3DS uses could be interesting

also the reduction of prices in the online dealership could be handy i still need the Form GT F1 car (Not the Ferrari i already have that one)

  73. GerriKo

Hell, I just took a look into the online dealership.

    GT40. 0 miles. 10 million credits.

I’m gonna be playing the whole day. This is the greatest update EVER.

  74. spikeyhairdude

I actually like the new outfits. PD trying to make things for the game do I get all people back on to it. Since the 1mill trade cap. There won’t be a lot of people on gt5

  75. GerriKo

Man, those new expert challenges are really tough. They deserve the “expert”. That’s gonna be a hard nut to crack.

Personally, I expected a bit more to come with the update, but I can live with it, it’s better than no update. I like small changes every now and then better than waiting long for a big update.

    1. MALICE75

I agree GerriKo. I had a go at the elise challenge about 6 times last night. Best I did was a 2nd place 1.2 seconds behind the winner. I had one attempt at the Suburu challenge and placed 6th. This will keep me interested alot longer than the standard “seasonal events”. Well done PD.

    2. MALICE75

Night 2. Looked at the tune of my elise and realised the settings from GT3 didn’t work so well. Used a Rotary Junkie tune and dropped the max speed – won by half a lap. 6 seconds off the pace still on challenge 1 and 3. Will keep plugging away!

    3. MALICE75

What a great challenge that was. Completed race 1 on Saturday beating the 2nd place car by 0.7 seconds and race 3 yesterday, overtaking the final car at the last corner. Took a fair few revised tunes to beat them……a great learning curve to better my driving!

  76. buggs1a

Update crashes ps3 everytime try to view cars and dealers in new dealership. Must be fixed ASAP!

    1. HugoStu

I am wondering the same thing Supercar festival pay exactly the same as before? What has tripled?…

  77. Antodena

Great work PD! I like the improvement you are granting with this update! Keep up the good work!!!

  78. morfei1

am I blind, or there is no possiblity to save the Le or Mans or the 8-hours of Tsukuba in A-spec mode after the update?

It’s for the Championship but what about Enduro races?

    [quote]Interrupting and resuming Championship races
•In the championship races of A-Spec and B-Spec modes within [GT Life], there is now an interrupt button in the quick menu which appears after completing individual races.
•If the interrupt button is pressed, the event will be interrupted and a player’s record up to that point will be saved, and the game will end. The next time the player starts the game, they can continue the championship race from where they left off.[/quote]

    1. Erik

It’s for in between different races in a championship (like, you do the first two races of the Formula GT event, and then you save to do the rest of the races later).

  79. shigllgetcha

Finally I can do some of the championships :D

I dont always have time to sit down for a full hour and play through a championship in one sitting.

The AI improvement is welcome and the extra money on the online events will have me back at the track in my lambo :)

    1. SmileyOr1

^this will encourage me to start the FGT Championship in a-spec. I’m level 30 a-spec and have completed gold in all the a-spec races except the FGT and the endurance races. I just don’t want to start something I might not be able to finish. It’s just not that big of a priority.

      YMMV

      :-)

  80. I_spy001

A bit odd how a person will take the time to bash the work PD does, or leave some obnoxious remark because they didn’t get what want. Just as how it’s fine to be happy with whats given, it’s fine not to be, but bashing seems pretty pointless, but feel free to set me straight if I’m wrong. But it’s nice to see the few comments out of many that propose some great ideas and that alone is why I read all posts. Personally I’d like to see every track from all the past GT’s, present in GT5 at some point. If it came in the form of DLC, I’d buy it. I loved SS R11 and all the city courses. As I live in NYC, racing down broadway in an FGT was the best. Better graphics only make the experience more enjoyable.

  81. Normalaatsra

GT5’s Welcome Back program includes 3x value of all awards, all prices discounted by 50%, interrupt option, and rewards for online sessions! :D
Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t rant about it ;)

  82. Taz

Let me just say All i’ve ever asked for in a GT game was competitive AI, I’m a person who loves to race at the edge of the seat and I play F1 games a lot so If I can get at least the medium level difficulty of F1 2010 to be Hardest difficulty in GT5 I would be happy.
When I heard there was improved ai in this update I just took my untuned Tomica Yellowhat GTR and went straight to the Super Gt Championship for some good racing, only to find out I can still smoke them all to 1st place in the 1st Conner (facepalm). They still brake 20 miles away from the conner, accelarate less when exiting a conner, i’m beggining to wonder if PD really know anything about how competitive motor racing is, you don’t just gain positions you earn them,
Another thing is the AI drivers don’t seem to be concerned at all about improving their positions, they don’t even attempt to attack the car in front, so why are they racing (facepalm)

  83. Pete

It’s impossible not to be disappointed by this patch; the game’s been out for 7 months, and so far we’ve seen a couple of patches, but nothing really substantial in terms of content. Not that the tweaks to the interface / AI / etc aren’t welcome, but being honest those tweaks should not have been required – how quickly we have forgotten just how long this game was in development. I was expecting (and not unreasonably) at least one new track within the first 6 months, based on the GTPSP tracks that weren’t included in GT5.

The triple prize money in this update can really only be because they’ve noticed a massive drop in those playing the game post-PSN revival (I’m sure most peoples friends lists will stand testament to this). It’s going to take more, I’m afraid – the grind cycle got unbearable a long time ago, and the Remote Racing – although a great idea – is not a suitable counter to the high price of some of the vehicles.

    1. Erik

Yeah yeah those tweaks should not have been required etc. Let me guess, are you one of those who also argued that GT5 was so delayed (“the development has been going on for 7 years, and so far we’ve a couple of videos, but nothing really substantial in terms of content”) that it should be released without beta testing first?

    2. Pete

Wow, I wasn’t expecting such a response. And no; I was happy for Kaz and the team to take as long as they wanted with developing the game, and even accepted the fact that the game, when released, was missing some essential components. I’m concerned for the future of GT at this point; the franchise is evolving in some ways and stagnating in others, and the last thing I want is for a series that I’ve loved since the start to falter after coming so far.

I suggest you think twice before posting sarcastic comments in future; don’t confuse the concerned long-term loyal fan with the casual complainer.

  84. Russianmule

You should be able to start an endurance race, and then do a driver switch with an online friend. This would be way more realistic then mid race saves.

    1. HKS racer

All small tweaks but this is the way it is, you all know PD and their development times, expecting fancy premium cars and tracks was unrealistic.
My biggest disappointment is there are no endurance saves yet, nor b-spec “team mates” for any endurance race.

    2. I_spy001

In the midst of the garbage posts filled with unnecessary complaining there lies a post of innovation. That really is a great idea, or at the very least the start of one.

  85. praggia

Been playing Dirt for a week now and i cant get enough of the fast paced frantic rally action, and by that i mean the point to point rally stages which are epic even though a bit short. One major thing the game lacks though are enough tracks. Whats happened to the full on tarmac stages of italy and germany and the muddy forest tracks of the english/scottish countryside?? Gymkana and rally cross way overrated, dulls in comparison to the point to point rally stages…..Group B rally cars still the best ever for those of us who can remember the golden age of rallying…
PD thats how you do Rallying if you can’t get it right please leave it out of the next installment of GT…

    1. AnPrionsaBeag

Agreed. With Shift 2 Unleashed and Dirt 3 now out, GT5 is gathering dust. As far as I’m concerned, it’s by far the shortest-lived in the series. Or maybe rival titles are catching up. I downloaded the update with some hope for new tracks and all I got is basically new helmets and fire suits. Wow. All I’ve ever dreamed of… Thanks Kaz.

  86. cliffatron

All i wanted was the endurance saves like Kaz promised flippin ages ago! seems crazy that after all this time they would still leave that out. i really want to do them, its only the 24hour ones i really need it for i have done all the others. still though seasonals look alright. overall im still pretty dissapointed, not like i havent got other games to play.

    1. cliffatron

I think they left it out because when saving during an endurance race it will mean you wont be able to play online. and because they have included seasonal and online content PD dont want their online users to decrease yet.

    1. BeefyPeeg

Nope, you can only stop in between Championship races. I have to admit I’m a bit ticked off after seeing that. I could care less about the stops between races, and most definitely could care less about the type of helmet I wear or the color of my fire suit. The adjustments to the AI are ridiculous – they are nearly as stupid as before. All I read when seeing the words “improved intelligence” algorithm was “enhanced cheating ability” (extra grip in the corners, that little boost of mysterious power on the straights…you know…”intelligence”).

  87. The rules

I know how to settle this…..

OK, all you fanboys that like the update, stand over here—–>

And all you haters that hate the update, stand over there<——

Anybody left in the middle…., well, i'd move. Anywhere. That, or make up you minds and join a team. Either way, commit to something for once. Now would be a good time.

    OK, everybody set?
Great. Now on the count of ten, all haters and fannies are to charge bindly towards one another, has fast has possible, meeting exactly halfway, at wich point you will find a pile of pointy sticks.
Take the pointy sticks (1 PER PERSON), grip them in your right hand, sharp end facing away from you, and shove it into the left nostril of the person in front of you. If, you here a pop, followed by a gush of Ketchup looking stuff, you've done it correctly.
After 3 rounds of this, the team that shows the least signs of death, or alternately, brain damage, wins.
Ready? Everyone understand what to do? GREAT!
    10…..9…..8….7….

  88. Your MOM

I have an Aura Bass Shaker bolted to the bottom of the seat. It’s like a Buttkicker but $40. Though you need an amp with low frequency crossover to power it. If you have a cockpit or a racing chair a force transducer is a must have. Whether it be a buttkicker or other brand, it makes it all come together. Vrooom, Vrooom!

  89. ChicoMaloXD

I actually liked this new update.
For all you whiners, I expect you to buy the upcoming Forza 4 game and never show again on this site.

  90. Your MOM

My fault for even reading these posts, I know. However, I insist on reminding these wounded tools that they already have your $60 some bucks. They don’t have to do sqwat.

I’m no fanboy, I have a 360 and a ps3 and I hope Forza 4 is great! Right now, though, GT5 is the best console racer I’ve ever played. Maybe only because I race in a cockpit with a wheel and a force transducer mounted to my seat because I really, really, like racing games.

That said some DLC for sale does seem in order. The game has been out almost 8 months. Is it a PS3 issue? Just seems like xbox has so much more DLC for sale.

Otherwise, quit crying. You are ruining the internet.

    1. ToreDL87

A force transducer, it makes the chair shake when you brake, turn, crash, do powerslides, etc. You should look up into getting one!

  91. Spoox777

Well i’m more than happy with the update. Can’t believe how many ungrateful twats there are on this site.

  92. A_Higher_Place

New AI are just as garbage as the previous. A corvette C5-R should not be able to field a bunch of LMPs!!

    1. doink

Yep, been claiming to have improved the AI since GT2. By GT26 it should be halfway competetive.

    2. BadLt58

      @A_Higher_Place
Funny you mention it because in GT4 you could set the level of competition. Guess all the so-called “die-hards” forgot about that “little” detail.

  93. Hoodie

You know every GT5 ‘fix’ just makes me realise how broken the vanilla game really is.

    Sucks to not have internet…

  94. Chad

These guys never learn, they give us irrelevant stuff again and again. Poor PD, they are so desperate, especially when Forza 4 is around the corner… Oh, and they were waiting for Japanese PSN revival for this? All I can do is laugh, life is too short to make it bitter. Kaz should win the most stubborn man on earth award. A real shame. This franchise is sinking every day deeper.

    1. Erik

Hang on, “all I can do is laugh, life is too short to make it bitter” and yet you took some precious time from your life to write that bitter post?

    2. Huga

“Poor PD, they are so desperate” desperate of what? Sorry mate, but you have GT5 selling 8 million copies in 7 month and so called “competition” “Forza 3” selling poorly 3 million copies in 2 year!

I think Turn 10 are desperate so please take your fanboysim elsewhere.

    3. 4Marsh20

People aren’t going to stop buying Forza just because of a new patch and i’m pretty sure people working for PD and Sony (who aren’t as short-sighted as yourself) have already realised this. Most people that buy Forza, buy forza because they have an xbox.
If they have both PS3 and Xbox…i’m pretty sure they’re going to buy both regardless.
The people that go out and buy an xbox/PS3 just because they didnt like GT5/Forza are going to get ripped off as the only step up is to PC, not another console that’s almost exactly the same as it’s counter-part and vica-versa

  95. A_Higher_Place

I’m having a connection problem to the server now D: (ID = 2:12)

    what does that mean? :(

    1. Erik

Yep same here, which means it’s nothing wrong on your end of the line, probably the servers are down for the moment. You just have to do what the GT community does worst, wait ;)

  96. Vincent

Why are ppl asking to get ripped off with DLC. Next thing you know PD will be holding back content to ding us on DLC like some other big companies are already doing.

  97. andrea

Thanks PD. Some of you guys are really ungrateful. They even had to deal with the hacking issue, be glad we’re getting this update.

    1. Erik

We should be asking for what we want, but that doesn’t mean that we have to do it in a negative ranting style.

  98. Adavicro

They should charge us for some DLC and have the proceeds go toward the relief effort in Japan. I remember Forza did something similar with the earthquake in Haiti.

I’d spend 5-10 bucks for a new track or a few new cars and feel good knowing some of that money is helping a worthy cause.

    1. bigdawg351

      I like that idea!

Thanks to PD for any upgrades. I don’t remember seeing anything that requires them to give us any more than the original game we paid 60 bucks for.

  99. MeToo

•For a limited time, all event prizes will be tripled, and all cars appearing in the Online Collector’s Dealership will be brand new (0 mileage) and at half price. How long is this limited time? Until the next update?

    1. GTKY

they should do that (0 milage), they are asking too much, 19XXXXXX credits for a used GT40 racecar!?!?!?

    2. Erik

The GT40 racecar, as it happens, especially in the Gulf livery, is one of the most legendary cars in the history of racing. But you don’t have to buy it if you don’t want to… especially scince I think it’s a prize car for some event, at least I know I won it from either an event or some ticket along the road.

  100. wavetool

Fantastic update. New Seasonals are a wonderful challenge too! Just what I needed to keep me from playing anything else.

    1. Enzoduder

hell forza 3 sounded good. forza 4 will probably sound better.

but gt5 still looks better and drives better.

    2. Reprogrammed

Ha, FORZA? What does that mean?
GTA IV has better driving than Forza.

I have an xbox360 aswell, played the demo(forza) & said. “WTF IS THIS?????!!!!!!”

  101. mumi2_TR

    * No in-race save option, endurance races are still waiting.
    * No new tracks.
    * No new cars.
    * No improved car sounds.

    BS.

    1. GTKY

They just got hit by a tsunami, nuclear crisis and an earthquake not long ago, cut them some slack man.

    2. doink

Yah, the natural disaster thing doesn’t wash anymore. Like saying poeple in Fort Wayne Indiana need a holiday because New Orleans gets washed into the gulf. Sheeshus.

    3. BadLt58

@GTKY “They just got hit by a tsunami, nuclear crisis and an earthquake not long ago, cut them some slack man”

Okay so why add uniforms and helmets? Why add new soundtracks? Makes NO sense. NONE.

They were not in the disaster area and again if that WERE the case then Sony itself should be entirely shutdown. In the same time period (and despite the tragedy) Sony RE-BUILT & RELOCATED its entire GLOBAL PSN NETWORK in a little over a month!!!

    4. Andreas

@BadLt58 “Sony RE-BUILT & RELOCATED its entire GLOBAL PSN NETWORK in a little over a month!!!”

Wrong. In a little over a month, they moved into a new data center in San Diego which was already nearing completion, and woefully behind schedule I might add (I live and work in San Diego, and have associates who were involved in that project, so believe when I say these are FACTS). While this was going on, they beefed up network security on a global level, something which wouldn’t have been necessary had they held themselves to the same security standards as Paypal, Amazon, or even Microsoft, to name a few, and done things the right way in the first place.

    5. Streaker

@doink You are a clueless dumb@ss. They are still cleaning up Chernobyl 25 years later. The tip of the iceberg hasn’t been seen in Japan yet. This is something that makes Katrina look like a spring storm and will effect Japan FOR DECADES. Of course they hide this information ON THE INTERNET. You think they can just build a replacement reactor in a week? Scrub the radioactivity out of their food supply and ocean? We should send your little butt over there and volunteer you for reactor core cleanup. .

    6. Riiiiiight

So PD is busy cleaning up radioactivity, building reactors, filtering the ocean, etc. That’s why the can’t be expected to be working on gt5, releasing over a months worth of seasonals, etc. Wow, and your calling other people dumb@ss? Riiiiiight.

    7. GTKris

Lol, my brother and my sister and law working in Tokyo right now. There are some power outages/brownouts, food sortages, and if your job relies on certain parts and supplies you may not be working every day, but if your in an office like PD, it’s pretty much work as usual. The Japanese don’t drop everything career wise just because of a disaster. Like others have said, using the disaster has an excuse doesn’t work anymore. In fact, it’s sort of an insult to people who pride themselves at resilience and hard work. Nice try Streaker, but your the one that is clueless.

  102. pigboy

im going to miss the pile ups the B Spec AI drivers had when starting a wet race on dry tyres in dream car championship, usually at monza and le mans,i quit after le mans, and the X1 also rammed the crawling AI cars wont be as bad.A citreon got stuck for the whole race in the concrete blocks at monza turn 1.he just kept spinnin the wheels and goin no where

  103. BadLt58

Some of you guys are the absolute worst customers. You tip well at a restaurant when the service is GOOD. And You don’t tip well when service is bad. In some cases they should give you a free meal to compensate for terrible experience.

But Nooooo. You fan boys keep taking poo poo and act as if this update was some miracle???

Yes Japan has been hit by a terrible calamity. So why add crap like uniform items? And fix B-A-S-I-C navigational issues. Seriously some of you act so pathetically and are willing to accept anything.

This is why this game has chronic issues. Consumers who refuse to hold a producer accountable for anything.

    1. MM1000

I only paid $55 for this gsme. For the money, I got a huge amount of amazing content. I can race the Nurburgring in a beautiful ferrari against my pals in other countries I haven’t hung out with in years.

      It’s a truly great game.

Yes, it has many problems. Especially the menus. But it’s the best value in gaming this generation, IMO. This isn’t “poo poo”. It’s nit picking problems about a game that is great, and could be much more than great if they hadn’t screwed up the execution.

Customers have every reason to be happy with the game despite the flaws. It’s like a masterpiece steak, served with McDonalds french fries, for $10. Could it be better? Yes. Is it still a great deal? Yes.

    2. SavageEvil

One question, what are you talking about? BASIC navigation issues? Please enlighten us as to what you are crying about now, as if this will end sometime this millennium. Do you have anything else left to do aside from piss and moan all the damn time?

Let’s say we hold Kaz accountable for all GT5’s pitfalls…what the hell will that accomplish? Yea go figure that one out, there is a place on the forum that is full of legitimate complaints for GT5…you putting your gripes here is a bit pointless.

All I know is I get a prize boost so I can get more money to buy more cars, if I wasn’t enjoying the game I wouldn’t be playing…if you aren’t enjoying it, sell it and shut up already. Everything will not be fixed, some things will gt addressed others will not, it’s the nature of the beast…deal with it as best you can or else get off at the next junction.

People were asking for uniforms in case you didn’t know, yea go check GTP forums back when the game first came out and people noticed you were locked into your outfit. Complainers just have nothing else better than to try to make everyone else as sullen as they are.

    3. GTKY

      @MM1000
Everyone has a different opinion. Just because you think its great doesn’t mean that it its flawless. Customers have doesn’t necessary have all the reasons to feel happy about a game where they think could be better. Its like a steak served with MCD fries for $10, but the steak is still raw meat, and the customers want it to be medium rare. Is it a great peace of steak? Of course it is. Is it a great deal? yes. Is the customer satisfied? No. Did the customer ask PD to cook the steak? yes. Did PD cook the steak? Not really, they microwaved it for 2 sec and gave you an extra sundae in V10 patch instead. So would the customer continue to ask PD to cook the steak to medium rare? of course they will. Is the sundae good? to some people yes, and some people won’t even touch it.
(Make no mistake, I love the game, played every version since GT1, but it is also because I loved it over any race sim, I wish PD could completed it like making a true master piece)

    4. AERO_HDT

      @BadLt58

Come on mate, the game does not have “chronic” issues, stop gasbagging and shut your piehole instead of dishing out weak analogies about restaurants. We’ve gotten numerous patches over the last six months that we haven’t paid a cent for. It’s a patch, not Spec II. I paid my money for a release day product, 7 months later, I’ve still got free support and updates coming regularly. That’s more than I can say for most developers, who push out one or two patches, throw out overpriced DLC packs and then walk away because “the buck stops”.

Stop your whining and come back when you’ve paid money for Spec II you tightarse.

    5. Erik

It seems like you’re the one having chronic issues… Personally I like the game, but apparently it’s “bad customer habit” to express that. And you can fanboy this and fanboy that, but really, why does it upset you so much to see other people enjoying the game?

Usually at restaurants, people leave when they don’t like the service. So how come ranters like you always stick around?

    6. BadLt58

Listen boys you seem to think that any word against the product must be met by typical fanboy “what problems? and shut your pie hole stuff.”

Lets get real. I own every GT game including the original demo disc for PS1. Compared to GT4 and GT5P the navigation is horrendous. The mere example of multiple patches since launch ONLY verifies it.

Navigational issues since launch: Seasonal Events (that didn’t ship with the original disc) which was added as a band aid kicks you to the main menu after EVERY race. Thats acceptable? Imagine going to work and sitting in a meeting and having to go home BEFORE you could return to your desk. Thats how asinine that navigation is.

If I leave a room in online play I must go back to the main menu. This is acceptable? That’s nitpicking? In GT4 I could practically go to a track in two less clicks than can with this. That somehow is better?

And speaking of Kaz. I bought my PS3 in 2006. We were told GT5 was coming and was in part a piece in the PS3s launch strategy. I got GT5P (which Sony forced him to deliver)in 2008. In 2009 I got GTPSP. It was 2010 before this game arrived. Numerous “patches” and claims that the game was rushed is laughable. It took OVER 4 years of development to bring this product to market.

My point. Aside from the physics model this game doesn’t entertain any better than GT4 (which I can still play on my backward compatible PS3) that I decided to play whilst the network was down. We have less tracks that don’t necessarily have anymore significant detail than in GT5P.

And some of you forget that as a PS3 owner you own other games and when you see what is being done with environments, navigation, FPS, and overall experience you are lying to yourself that what you have is substandard. GT5 has no more detail than CoD Black Ops or BFBC2. Thats a fact. In BFBC2 the ENTIRE environment is destructable. I can’t even get (as promsided) any semblence of real damage on a car in a narrow environment! And guess what? These games cost the same!!!

But I do have a racing game that still loads slow despite it taking up boatwads of GB on my harddrive. And your best defense is telling me to go away OR sell the game? Naw, I am doing you all a favor because fact is. I actually and being honest about my user experience and you are willing to make excuses and look the other way.

Kaz is your absentee Daddy and when he decides to pick you up for his one weekend a year you don’t care that he spends it getting drunk with hookers. You’re just SOO happy to be spending Q-time with Dad. Seriously I feel sorry for ya. I really really do.

    7. Knackers

@badlt58 – I love the GT franchise and have spent many an hour playing all the games over the years, however, I can’t disagree with anything you have written here. It’s mind boggling how many sloppy aspects there are to the game. It’s as if no one has tested the finished product for basic issues before release.

I tend to look past them because the game overall is very good, but if this game was a new franchise and not GT, would the wider gaming community be as forgiving? I don’t think so….

    8. BadLt58

@Knackers- Thats my entire point. As a loyal customer who even forgave the GT3 A-Spec debacle this game and its deployment was found “wanting” compared to what we have come to expect at this point.

This did not meet the expectations that were set by PD from previous offerings. And based on that and the time it took to deliver this I find it unacceptable.

Using the $55 mark look at how quickly other major PS3 franchises have produced versions of its games year after year upping the ante each time. We’ve had the CoD series, NFS, DIRT, Motorstorm, Battlefield, etc. What we bought last November was not the result of for years of meticulous development but exposure of a disjointed, unsupervised, and lackidasical conglomeration of re-hashed work.

Frankly, how much “original” work was put iinto this game to justify the work? Indianapolis? Track Editor? Premium cars lifted from GT5P? Cars lifted from GT4? Online play?

Be honest GT5 owners. If Kaz worked for EA, UbiSoft, Activision, or Microsoft would he have a job? As the other poster said. If this game was named something else I highly doubt the community would be so kind.

    1. Erik

They are reusable. When you change outfit, the previous one ends up in your inventory. You can also switch suits and helmets between your A-spec avatar and the B-spec drivers.

  104. CMvam

Looks like a good update. Happy with that. Kind of dissapointed no in game race saves yet… But I’ll live with this for now.

  105. deep_sky

I just do not understand for the life of me how they cannot just patch in time and weather options for offline.

It just makes no sense to me.

    1. Erik

Let me rephrase that: “I wish to see time and weather options for offline mode in a future patch”. Yes I agree, that would be nice.

  106. curiousity

what about the size of this patch?i hope it’s not too big coz my internet speed is not that good :( i kept encounter corrupted data everytime PD got new patch..which is suck!wish there were online update patch tru pc instead of ps3

  107. Paragon-23

I’m glad this update wasn’t a flop, I kept my hopes down and now PD, to me is awesome. (They were in some troubling times, and still are and pulled through with alot) There might not be 100 new RM’ed cars but they fixed a lot of those little issues that bugged me. I’m happy. Good Job PD!
    -And wait for the haters…

  108. Knackers

PLEASE, IN RACE SAVES FOR ENDURANCE EVENTS!!!!! IS THAT TOO MUCH TOO ASK FOR? WHO CARES ABOUT THE COLOUR OF MY RACING SUIT?!?!?!

    1. BadLt58

I agree. Add what nobody asked for. And don’t add what everyone wants. How about being able to switch cars during practice?

    2. MM1000

You might as well ask for cheat codes or laser weapons on your car. Which, I admit, would be cool.

Pausing in an endurance race? That doesn’t make any sense. It’s basically cheating.

If PD ever does offer the endurance race save, they should offer a special prize to those who do not use it. This is a game that is better because it’s challenging.

    3. Knackers

Cheating? Show me how many (real-life) drivers complete a 24 hour race solo with no breaks?

Some of us do have a life and wish to chip away at a game as a pastime.

    4. lilmann73

      *phone call*
Hey, wanna race on my videogame while I get some sleep? Thanks.

For one, that’s just weird. Also, I have school and a job to worry about. I don, have the time to chip away at a race for 30 minutes a day. That’s just insane. So for all of the real human beings with a life, it would be a great feature.

    5. Kaz Yamauchi

      @MM1000
“Pausing in an endurance race? That doesn’t make any sense. It’s basically cheating.”

What a preposterous statement. I’ve looked at all of your posts on this page, and every single thing that you have said is completely idiotic.

1 – It does make sense: you may not realise this but some people actually do have lives to live outside of Gran Turismo, a save feature would be convenient and make a lot of sense.

2 – It is not cheating. Do you wear a race suit and helmet and have a fire extinguisher beside you when you play Gran Turismo? I mean, by your logic it would be cheating if you used a joypad and wore casual clothes and footwear.

    6. 4Marsh20

@Kaz – The almighty one has spoken!!! No truer words have been spoken in this comments section, thanks you for bringing some sense to the conversation :-D

    1. MM1000

Not that I disagree… I will always want more cars…

But if PD produces more cars and tracks, they should charge money for that. We got a TON of content in GT5. It doesn’t have a lack of cars. Even if you don’t count the pedestrian cars (I love those), there are many cars with amazing detail. And there are a ton of tracks. Not all my favorites, but if PD gets around to El Capitan or the old Rome circuit, I think they should sell that content.

The fact is that there will always be a demand for more. If there were 5000 cars and 500 tracks, some would complain that one they liked wasn’t there. As it is, we have hundreds of cars and dozens of tracks, and it’s not so bad.

What they really needed to fix was championship save and simplifying the buying of parts. And they did fix that, so I’m damn happy. They also added some stupid nonsense about uniforms, when I’m sure people would rather have a livery editor.

    2. Erik

I like the racing suit feature, I think it’s a great addition!
Also, it shows that they have ongoing plans for the game and are open to add new features in the future. I like.

    3. HSV_GTS

I agree with mm1000 about the uniforms but we can’t do anything about it. They should of atleast something abit better.

    1. MoLieG

Sad but true… The update seems like a good one, but Damn it PD!!! I’ve been looking forward to drive this car in GT5 since I 1st saw it!!!

  109. KKB

Does anyone know if there’s ever going to be any updates to shuffle racing? A tiered system, or customizable PP limits would be very nice.

    1. MM1000

Then it wouldn’t even be an endurance race.

Just don’t worry about completing the game if you don’t want to race for 24 hours. It’s not a big deal if you only race in 99% of the events.

I think this is kinda cool. It makes sense that I get a break between 50 lap F1 championship races. Why wouldn’t I? They are grueling.

But an endurance race should try your endurance. 24 hours straight? Yep. I don’t even think they should let you pause the game for more than five minutes. Yeah, 99% of people can’t manage it. I can’t. That’s OK.

    2. keito

@MM1000: Have you actually know anything about endurance racing? If you did, you’d know that no one actually drives the car by themselves for 24 hours. There are multiple drivers on an endurance racing team who drive for a few hours at a time, because one person racing for 24 hours is simply impossible.

    3. PaulvHooijdonk

Actually, in the distant past some drivers did race the leMans 24h all alone for the full 24hours. But the organisation has banned it as it was too dangerous. (And I think rightfully so). Personally I too would welcome the possibility to “interrupt” a 24h race to be able to get a power nap, or to divide the action over more than one evening. As I have to word during the weekdays and have a family to maintain as well so I cannot spend continuous 24 hours on my console and leaving it on pause for 2-3 days will just fry the PS3. So at this time doing a 24h is no option for me, though I really would like to do it If I had the time.

    4. HSV_GTS

If they do put the in race saves I would do like an hour a day for 24 days and on weekends probably longer so less days.

But it would still get boring and repetitive.

Has anyone ever done any of the 24 hour races??

I was thinking about doing bspec and just leaving it on the whole time without touching it until it’s done, but my 2006 ps3 is old and might overheat and freeze in the middle of the race. Any suggestions??

    5. shigllgetcha

sorry MM100, 99% of people dont have the time to sit down and race a full endurance race. Its a game at the end of the day

    6. XoravaX

@PaulvHooijdonk: No-one has ever finished the 24 hours of Le Mans alone. Closest was at 23rd hour, but the car suffered a mechanical failure (as far as I remember it could have been a crash or something other as well, but he had to retire nonetheless) and he was unable to complete the race.
Don’t go around saying facts that aren’t true.

Anyway, is it much of an endurance race if you just leave the console paused during nights like I did with GT4? Worst thing with the endurances is that the PS3 isn’t a 35-Watt-reliable-as-a-brick machine like the PS2 was. I’m concerned it might overheat during the race.

    7. boblikepie

When you have the console on a pause menu it’s not going to be thinking of a whole lot. It shouldn’t overheat on a pause screen unless PD are really bad at coding. When paused the game should essentially be doing nothing other then showing a static screen and waiting for a button press. If anything pausing the game would give the ps3 a break during endurance races to cool down

    8. KFM

However, if you’re going to pause it anyway, you might as well turn it off.

Also, I guess if you wanted it to be realistic, you could keep the thing on the whole time and you and a buddy could switch every few hours.

    9. AnPrionsaBeag

@ keito: “no one actually drives the car by themselves for 24 hours”. Let me be picky about your statement. In the 1952 Le Mans 24-hour race, Frenchman Pierre Levegh actually drove for almost 23 hours before his car’s engine died. He was leading the race with four laps ahead of his closest rival.

    10. Thank You

      @ boblikepop
This doesn’t necessary mean the GPU/CPU isn’t running 100%. Pause doesn’t necessary mean it stops your CPU/GPU but often put them in lops waiting for you to hit unpause button. More likely PS3 Gpu is continuely redrawing the last frame so when you unpause the game it will continue instantly.

    11. gADgYt

It would be better if we could throw a Bob in the car for a couple of hours during endurance races, perhaps combine A and B spec.

  110. Enzoduder

sadfaces? why? we got half of the save feature. Now i’ll be able to do formula gt extreme event. thanks pd.

  111. fitftw

Awesome, can’t wait to get home from work tomorrow and farm the Indy 5 lap American race for triple credits (around $300,000 for less than 5 minutes.)

    1. Erik

So you better farm the Supercar online evenet for Cr. 450 000 for just a wee bit more than 5 minutes ;)

    2. GarY

305,100 in less than 3 minutes in Seasonal event lightweight K cup. In Eifel kart track. Fastest way to get loot mathematically.

  112. Dominic

Love it. Given the tidal waves, and destruction Japan has recently seen, awesome work PD. Awesome.

    1. Butters

YUUUP. I didn’t expect these and I did expect more, but this is good. I still want to see updated standard cars. Hopefully, soon.

    2. AstonMartinGT5

I completely agree with you guys, it’s great to see that PD are actually doing something, mind you it probably gives them something to do to take their minds off Japan’s troubles :)Good work PD and Japan! :D

I agree. The only thing that turned me off is when I went to change my L.S.D. setting on a non RM Evolution 9 (or any Evolution), it had only the A.Y.C. and the L.S.D. didn’t exist. I checked to see if I had to buy one, but it indicated it already had one.

Other then that I am happy.

Lol nothing new.. not surprised. But sounds like it has fixed a lot of things, and nothing I really cared to change. Too bad nothing is added to actually want me to play this game more than 10 minutes…..

To the FM fanboys who comment here and say ““Poor PD, they are so desperate”

desperate of what? Sorry but you have GT5 selling 8 million copies in 7 month and so called “competition” “FM3″ selling poorly 3 million copies in 2 year!

I think Turn 10 are desperate so please take your fanboysim elsewhere. If your interested in GT5, comment but if your not interested please leave to your FM community its getting empty, no one is interested in FM anymore and FM4 will be another racing game for casual people with aid assisted and permanent driving aid.

why is everyone so whiny? we are close to a good update, and id rather have a stable game than one that has too many features and cant be played without the worry of something going wrong. I think this is a great update, but i still want more. It takes alot of time and effort to make an update like this, thanks PD
