PD Probably maxed out the PS3 with this game.
PS3 has a poor video card, unlike my PC GeForce GTX 580.
But the important thing is the driving realism.
this realy looks awsome i wanna try that but with start in almost dark and then a 10 lap race
yes, a lot has been improved, but the little details is what makes you go hmm (like the song hehe) come on, pay attention to how people drive and move the hands, to do it wrong, just don’t put the hands in the wheel. The cars are the same as in GT4 “only” 200 new, at least remove some of GT4, change they’re names, something. THe moving hands are not ps3 hardware limitations…
Great video. Look past the problems people, in the grand scheme of things they don’t really matter. Sense of speed is greatly improved from past games, I can’t wait to get my hands on this!!
i can’t believe it, 5 years driving cars and they don’t realize that with paddles shifters you don’t take the hands off the wheel, and much less like for 5 seconds and drive with one hand, the animations are just stupid,
Yeah, the gear change is a joke. Really amateur effort.
Ok this is driving me nuts. If the padels are mounted on the colum the driver would not want his hand on the wheel while shifting do to the fact that if the driver had to TURN the wheel and shift he would be screwed if he left his hand on the wheel. Do you understand what I am saying?
Do the motion with your own hand
Its the predictive feature that annoys me the most, the game tries to guess when you are going to shift ie near the redline and moves the hand to get ready to change gear. The longer you are at high revs (Le Mans straights) the longer the hand is off the wheel. I can imagine sections of the ring where you are holding 3rd or 4th the game will have you driving one handed! It spoils a very good looking in-car view, its much better than prologue imo. TDU, Dirt2, NFS Shift all have better gear change animations and they are arcade games not GT!
I don’t care about any of the shortcomings (tracks etc) anymore. That video was great and I really want to play that game right now! Night racing will be epic.

Let see what we have here. The people without the game at home saying it doesn’t look that good and has issues, while the people with the game are saying it’s the best thing since sliced bread! Who do you believe.
Plus from the nitpicking going on I feel sorry for those peoples future wives or husbands! e.g. Hey your left eye is slightly out of alignment, I want a divorce! :-))

Ive read a lot of opinions from those who have the game.. and i’l be honest.. I keep waiting to hear the part where they say.. im disappointed with this game or I cant drive properly because this graphics glitch is to distracting!
No! everyone who has the game has had there expectations met and then some!
so will everyone just take a breather.. enjoy the fact that fellow fans of this game were generous enough to give there thoughts and videos and stop putting down what you currently don’t even have!
Kaz and PD have put 5 years into the game.. 5 years! why? so they can meet and exceed our expectations.. and in many areas they have.
Im sure the team is quite aware of tiny glitches and faults of the game.. and im sure they are aware of even the smallest ones we cant even see and I bet they are disappointed with them all, but had all the bugs been fixed 2 things would of been needed.. first being time! you arn’t happy with this game?!
well lets just wait another yr or 2? none of us want that!
and second the PS4 because the PS3 is pushing out im sure near all its graphical power if not all of it for this game.
just all please be happy with what we get.. its GT5! it has over 1000 cars! damage! weather! course maker! photo mode! NASCAR! the top gear track! Skid marks! a physics engine like no other! and the best one of all.. it will be in our hands in just a couple of days!

I can’t stand that shifting animation, it’s making the shift motion and going back the the steering wheel.
It’s a paddle shift.
I couldn’t tell how “bad” the graphics are in 360p, but I can tell they’d look excellent on the screen. Gameplay looks top notch.
I agree Dave, cant PD see how bugged they look. I mean its in 6th and the hand moves to the paddle to change up! The hands are hardly on the wheel at times. nit picking I know but it seems so obvious to me :(
Are the paddle shifters mounted to the wheel on the Gallardo? Or are they mounted to the steering column? And I also thought there was a 7th gear there for a minute, he kept acting like he was going to shift into higher gear when already in 6th.
Not trying to nitpick either. This is going to be the game of my life. And I can’t wait. Just making a couple observatioins. 72.5 hours and I will finally have this beauty of a beast.
Go to 8:30 in the video. Turn it to 720p and full screen and then look at the left side of the wheel where he shifts. The paddle for the Gallardo are extremely small but you can clearly see him shifting it at 8:30. :)
I hope this was shot with full assists on. If the game doesn’t feel like the TT demo with all assists off, well, disappoint.
Did you notice that the car was sliding too much after his accident ?
I checked the tires but they appeared blue which I suppose means they’re still fine.
So the only explanation i can find about losing his car, is the damage that even a slight one, has a greater effect on the handling of the car..
The only thing I lokked for and did not find, was the level of damage..
What do you think?
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! The sound of a Lambo (does anyone have any LP670-4 SV vids :)). This is just epic. Truely epic. I just love the subtle accelerated day/night transition. I think it’s going to be hard to get work done AND have this game around. Glad I don’t have kids right now and my wife is SOOOO understanding.
I warn everybody: The brakes are very realistic very very very extremely SENSITIVE.
That is why he is losing control and also by sniping the tires onto the grass, gravel dirt and paint.

The game it just awesome and that amazing graphics in 1080p are only made by PD and never a game could be perfect in all ways and we all always found some kind of glitches but remember that this is in a replay and sure this not happens during gameplay or could be little things in shadows (this is no PD fault is hardware issues cause PS3 can handle a lot of information but not all of them to the same time and then we could find some “issues” with FPS but is not PD fault) or that kind of stuff that we can´t even see during our races.
Just enjoy the game cause it is the best in physics, graphics, realism, simulation!, and for sure the best experience in driving and learn how to drive real cars in virtual reality.Peace.
The only thing I don’t like at all are the shadows… absolutely terrible, IMO.
How are the shadows terrible? If you’re referring to the shadows “popping” in the cockpit, that’s the sunlight shinning through the gaps in the trees.
I agree with Geo, they look pretty bad. Watch the video again, this time focus on the interior shadows for the whole race.
Pay extra attention to the jagged edges of each shadow. I think what we’re seeing here are the limitations of the PS3.
So the shadows are horrible because they have jagged edges? And not perfectly smooth? Hahahaha….You guys never cease to amaze me. GT fans are the most spoiled bunch I’ve ever seen.
I’ve been saying for months that the tree modeling is poor. I’ve taken a lot of heat for it, but pixelated, cardboard looking trees is going to make for blocky shadows. It seems pretty evident when passing sections on the track that have tree shadows on them. Trees do look better than they did before.
I can’t believe they only put a 256MB graphics card in the PS3. It seems like such a big flaw given the power of everything else. As much of a PS3 fanboy as I am, I’d LOVE to see GT5 run on a PC. PS3s simply don’t have the processing power to anti-alias and smooth all of the shadows and textures.

And if you look at the shadow of the steering wheel, it’s literally a hexagon shape!

Shadows are popping all over the place…this is not something I expect from PD…
I would have gladly waited another year if they fixed these problems.
Is just me or does the steering wheel look like it’s “oval”? Especially as it’s being maneuvered. It’s shifting about in a very odd way.

Polyphony never releases a perfect game, but now we have downloads on ps3, remember prologue? that was mostly fixed with the update.
Wednesday is as far as i am prepared to wait. Midnight store opening get game come home install/sleep/up at 5am off to work and go hard when i get home.

Polyphony Digital don’t owe you anything, and they wont miss you. And neither will we. yea like is real life is 1 degree per 15mins this looks like is going 15 degrees a min not even i think faster. NO good they should have waited like after 10 laps or more not 1 lap.
i was under the assumption from something i read earlier you could change how fast ‘time’ goes… correct me if im wrong

The lap is set at 2. I’m sure if it was 10 laps it would start to set around 5.
How would you do it better?There is only two laps.You cant do it much more realistic when the time is limited in nine and half minutes.
