Lamborghini Miura, Japanese Classics in New GT5 Screens

Here’s the first batch of screenshots from Gamescom 2010. I’ll get higher-resolution images up as soon as they’re available. One interesting to note: the Lamborghini Miura’s unconventional headlights tilt upwards when turned on – an idiosyncratic detail which, as you’ll notice in the screen shot above, was not overlooked by our friends at Polyphony Digital.

Strange to note that the Turbo A doesn’t have a licence plate, yet the FC RX-7 in the background does.

Is the third image showing a Standard track? Note the lack of 3D grass and low-poly road edges, for example.

@terminator363, i noticed that as well…I reckon it’s just a slight dig by KY and PD on the whole subject of premium vs standard. Clever eh!

What makes me chuckle is the sign in the second picture with the GT cars. Must be a joke of PD’s. “stop poking soar bears Kaz”

The ignorance here is stunning. Whether or not a car is Premium has no correlation whatsoever with it being a new or old model.

    2. Gamer GT5

yea some cars from previous GT games are going to be premium. Why do people get upset over everything it’s just a question. Chill out :)

    “One interesting (thing) to note…”

Not a big deal. Just got me stumped a little bit. You’re probably in a hurry. No biggy! :)

i can breathe a sight of relief my car is premium yay!!!! supra 3.0gt turbo a ftw now if they make have the detomaso pantera in premium or not that will complete the cake 4 me al least

All this is just tease…I can see stock showroom cars all day but what I want to know is how are we gonna be able to increase performance with aftermarket parts. Will they have rim sizes…tire width…proper body packages and downforce add ons?

    1. AERO_HDT

Although I partially agree with you, if you want to add wack rims and crap Veilside kits, I think GT might not be the game for you. I think it’s inevitable the game moves in that direction, but don’t be surprised if you can’t fit 26″ Lexani’s to your Fiat 500. ;)

@caasimun Black car in the foreground of the 3rd photo. It’s a MKIII, the generation prior to the MKIV that you’re probably thinking of.

Is it me or do the turning signals on the front of the supra actually achieve a nice plastic look. Like a proper car, other than the slight light effect issues it seems, pretty nice. Still not crazy about how the bumper looks like a seperate clip.

    1. AERO_HDT

Last I recall, the MA70 Supra looked exactly like it does in the screenshot shown. Are you sure you’re not confusing this with the JZ series?

  9. Hernan

The miura looks gorgeous, i hope they have a good Diablo SV or SE30, The Countach deserve more than that GT PSP 3d model too.

I see a 2nd gen RX-7, I see a 3rd gen RX-7… now come on and show me the 1st gen RX-7 that has been left out of every version of GT despite having almost twice the sales of the 2nd and 3rd gens combined! The car that saved not only the rotary engine, but arguably prevented Mazda from going under. Without the FB, you have no FC, no FD, no RX-8, no MX-5…

    I’ll be quiet now.

    1. Rotard12a

I stand corrected. I do indeed have GT2, perhaps I’ll go pop it in and think “how great would this be on a system that didn’t come out when I was 7”

I understand they couldn’t feature it in GT3, was pretty annoyed it wasn’t in GT4, but if it’s not part of GT5’s 1,000 car roster it would be pretty much absurd. I mean, they sold almost half a million of the things.

      Again, sorry, I’ll stop ranting.

Why does everbody think that premium correlates to ”expensive” or ”exotic”? It is pretty obvious by now that premium justmeans the amount of detail that is put into the car model. There are cars that are less ”premium” than these older japanese cars in GT5P and they are premium models as well. PD is probably going to try and handpick a certain amount of cars from each era/genre (exotic, muscle cars, race cars, etc) and re-do them as premium. Other than that, anything that has been modeled recently and going forward will obviously also be premium.

Why would PD go back and model the same exact 800 cars that were in GT4 as premium? At the time they modeled those cars, they didn’t forsee the need to model interiors, under cars, engines, etc. This whole premium and standard car issue has been obvious to me since the beginning, but most people here were/are oblivious to the clues add are too busy dreaming about the possibilities to clue in on the reality. The vast majority of the cars in GT5 will have no cockpits and will be based off of models from the last generation Playstation. That is a fact and no matter how you try and twist words from people and websites in the know, it will not change.

    1. blaktek

You are supposed to be able to play the whole game with premium cars, so premium oldies/clunkers make sense.

And GT3 had 180 cars, we get more than that now, plus a lot of rides brouhgt back from GT4. We win, I say ; whatever what PD means by “standard”.

  12. Loxstokk

Has anyone got a count ‘so far’ on the premium car models we’ve seen? These surely aren’t premium models aswell? Have we not gone past 200 now?

  13. pasigiri

ALLLLLRIGHT!!!!!!! The Miura is in. Now please, PD, complete the lineage. At least the LP670-4 SV. You can’t have Lamborghini featured in the game and not have the Murci’s last horah.

    1. FlareKR

I love the Super Veloce! Don’t forget the Reventon too, I actually had a chance to get inside the car when they unveiled it in the US in Miami (at least we get some things down here, lol). If they do put it in GT5 hope they don’t forget the switchable dashboards, via a button.

    1. Sigmaviper11

The Lead one looks to be a Xanavi R35 while the second one looks to be a Motul R35. Maybe they’re team cars, I’m not sure, but you’re right it is rather awesome. Team racing would be nice, though I doubt it’ll be a feature this time through.

  14. Cornishbrooksy

Anybody notice on the classic Japanese cars have see-through windows, not blacked out.
Hardly candidates for premium status surely??

    1. caasimun

orgasm…on the miura omg! if this 4 pics make me feel like this…cant wait to transfer my gtpsp collection to gt5! yesss….
