Peek at Rome, Tuscany in Latest GT5 Video

Sure enough, the SpikeTV/GameTrailers that Sony helped hype up yesterday didn’t show much, but there was indeed some more footage revealed of the beautiful new Rome and Tuscany circuits. Watch it for yourself right here.

How about putting an actual LINK to the videos so I can watch them in HD on my PS3… All I see now is a big fat empty box saying “this app is not supported”– with no link or anything. It never used to be like that here but the PS3 browser is crappy and PD doesn’t update it. And don’t anyone tell me not to use the PS3 browser! I get that all the time from various people on the internet.. but it’s hooked up to my 52″ Aqos so that’s what I use to watch HD YouTube vids. Please supply real links somewhere Jordan, THANK YOU!!

those video´s are with improvements, everybody is nagging about day night rain. but if you looking good you see improving in those video´s!!! cockpit, shadows etc..

  3. Veyron1001

I wish I could get GT5 with out the Nascar garbage. I would pay an extra 10$ just to not have it. I would like a F1 series instead.

“Not meaning to be sarcastic, but for a “revolution” it’s just getting things everyone else had for a good half decade”

I hear you DomoChan, alot of these features are pretty “standard” amongst racing games these days. However, executing the same features with KY’s level of detail should be the most advanced versions of said features. Well I’m expecting them to be considering how much time they have spent on it. If it aint then i think fit will hitting the shan…

  5. badbruddah

There’s a longer version of this on the PS blog, with old school footage from the GT 1-4.

And I think the song is “Big Bad Wolf” by The Heavy.

  6. DomoChan

Lol, If it Only Did Engine Swaps…. Lol

Not meaning to be sarcastic, but for a “revolution” it’s just getting things everyone else had for a good half decade… online play… simpsons did it, damage… simpsons did it, new types of customization… seeing a pattern here? The Only revolution they have shown us as of yet, is purely graphical and visible…. it is physically where they need to deliver, and they BETTER do for all the wait

BTW, what happened to the 1000 + cars? Wherent they boasting about that almost a year ago? Cant see a good reason to have even more but, why boast if you cant deliver?… And I hope they dont take the same approach to the rest of the game….. Cant wait for the FULL details @ E3

  7. Peewee737

Nothing new???? Maybe… But just look at the last scene. Look how the Merc is moving. Slightly loose, shocks up and down…. This is how a car should move and behave on the limit. Graphic wise, PD won’t dissapoint, that I can already see in all the vids and pics. But the physics have to be awesome. That’s the number one reason to keep playing this ‘game’ over and over again….
It all looks very, very promissing indeed.

  8. TagesGarage

at 0:24 where you look at the steering wheel it looks like the car is racing at dusk and im guessing its racing at the ring because of the trees. hopefully thats a sign of night driving.
otherwise the video doesnt really show us anything new

  9. Turbo_3800

Anybody remember “Rome Night” from GT2 Arcade disk? That was a pretty good track that should have made it to simulation mode and carried on to later GT games. “Autumn Ring”, “Red Rock”, hopefully Trial Mountain won’t be turned into a complete race track with guard rails outlining the track or all the shady trees removed lol. Excuse me for day dreaming lol

  10. Liam

@ Luke, I remember previous Gran Turismo games having tire wear, It was displayed on the HUD gradually going from blue to red and traction went out the window lol
It’s all part of The Real Driving Simulator right?
I’d welcome as much sim as possible.

  11. Zuel

I seen a new track layout in the turns while GT(C) 500 Class. It’s a slight down hill S turn into a left. The other is on the same track coming out of another turn.

  12. caasimun

yes a video made from gameplay…PD never makes this things up! or CG its all replay and we all know it

  13. caasimun

its basically what it sounds like tire-deformation…deformation of the tire as weight increases or decreases at certain points as the cars weight is shifted through corners and blah blah blah!! and i think it would be a good thing considering tire-duality, i mean come on, i would like to see a flat tire in a game, maybe because i used my tires too much and didn’t go for a pit stop XD

PS they put that in forza so that “the replay looks cool”

  14. gt5 fan

if you look at the end where it says it only does everything it says:
    it only does 950+ cars
    it only does damage
    it only does customization
    rally, drifting,
    cant wait!!!

  15. noname

I might sound like an idiot now when asking, but what is “Tire Deformation”? Heard it tons of times, but never knew what it was.

    Thanks in advance.

  16. Luke

    @caasimun
Polyphony only implements features that enhance the game. Tire deformation does not, in any possible way, enhance my racing experience. I really can`t understand why you all want tire deformation now, because Forza got it ?

  17. caasimun

there is something new…whats up with u people…look at the last 10 seconds where u see the amg, there is clearly something new with the way the cars physical body presents itself as it moves over bumps, the suspensions seem to be acting independently rather than the pair infront and behind like GT5P, and i think i can see tire deformation, i zoomed in about 150% and watched the clip over and over, so there is tire deformation check it out for urself!

  18. cuco33

Looks good. Trailer was mostly a rehash of old stuff we’ve seen with not much new. I like the WRC stuff we saw though. I also like Rome being shown here :)

  19. hotwok

Wow look at the last segment of the SLS, looks how it reacts to the bumps in the road, turns etc. Some very advanced physics right there, looks sooo realistic :D

  20. Browitt

Did anyone notice near the 950+ cars bit at the end where it says that PS3 does everything?? They are just teasing us now.

  21. tvensky

forgot to mention, smoke from tyres still looks very, VERY, Very bad.. still to small amount of smoke, still disappear too fast…. and in rally allmost no dirt or rocks flying off wheels (big fan of rally and drift) so its wery important, for now it looks funny… like a fart or something.. not pure smoke of burning rubber.. or dirt! :(((… :) still amezed about other stuff..

  22. tvensky

and I have to say this.. the song is sick! :D “you gon nothing to say, ohh no, were not tell you whose who, ohh yea, becosue, I’m a BIG BAD WOLF”… lmao “whad do you say?, BIG BAD WOLF”… lol, its all about GT5!!! I tell you! Im not crazy, they are!! :D

  23. TokyoDrift

Meh, another day, another video… Not much new really, and getting a bit boring to be honest. Right now, all I’m bothered about is a release date.

  24. tvensky

cant wait to drift all 950 + cars! cant wait to E3! the video is awesome.. something new, at least..! most important cant wait release date!! :))

  25. Brad

Check the video at about 1:04, you’ll see an SLS on the Nordschleife heading down towards the Gran Prix track, there are some menacing looking rain clouds in the sky. Could be nothing, probably is nothing, but they sky is a far cry from KY’s described perfect day.

Also, “It only does: 950+ Cars, Career Mode, Online Racing, Drifting, Rally”

  26. John Marine

Full of surprises. Something tells me EVEN MORE will dump on us when E3 rolls around. Rome has NEVER looked this amazing in the Gran Turismo series! Part of me wants to believe this is the course we’ve seen in GT2 and GT3. Another part of me, however, says this is a completely different Rome course. There’s Tokyo R246 in the video. I initially thought there was some other city or track also featured (after the in-car view of the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari). I almost thought this was that Madrid course I’ve heard so much about. Maybe it’s a completely different street course we may not know about?

You got to have some swagger to have a background song saying you’re the Big Bad Wolf with a game like this. Knowing PD, we may be in for few stunning details and news announcements on GT5 come E3. Remain optimistic and hopeful…

  27. Daniel

    @ Liam

im pretty sure that Grand Valley, Trial Mountain and Deep Forest will be in GT5, they have been in every other GT (correct me if im wrong someone) and they’d be idiots to leave those notorious tracks out. About night however, well i dont think we know if there will be day and night for every track, but i too would love these tracks at night.
And i think they’ve spoken about photo mode before, pretty much guessing it will be the same as the good stuff we had in GT4

on a complete side note, can anyone name the soundtrack for me? rather catchy.

  28. marcus

@ j.b. yes they will indefinately use dlc packs. I read somewhere on the internet that although the game comes with a staggering 950 cars due to dlc the finished thing will have more like 10,000 cars. However that would translate as $10,000.

The rally clip shows the cars quite close together, does this mean no point to point rallies. I was rather looking forward to a proper rally race apposed to the rally cross style that has been present.

  29. Hentis

Nice video, great shots of Rome and Tuscanny circuits, the Nascars look great, Lets hope we get Talladega as a track as well as Indy and some fo the short ones like Bristol. Havent seen Nascar on British TV for years but hey I catch the odd broadcast over the interweb.

Also I see theres a few shots of TSKUBA and High Speed Ring as well as the Nordschlieffe (nothing new for that track).
One of the Other tracks I would like to see is Siverstone and Bathhurst!!
But will settle for what they have I suppose.

  33. chrisrar

very americanised trailer… id imagine not the proper full on polyphony digital trailer we should get at e3 2010… a bit lacking. i expected more features… but suppose there keeping the big stuff for e3, not spike tv.

  34. Flagmo-T Aka Team_MoFF-No2

Thanks GTP/Jordan ;O) – I must admit, that I’m Not that interested in more track race videos ( seen enough already) I really would like to see some of the Rally Stages and In to deep as well, This Race Simulator Game is Orsm, and we all know that, But still we haven’t seen much New stuff, yes there is some Rome shots (great looking) but the same kind of view as the others, the difference in the track builds, will first be shown, if we can watch some of the different styles of Racing, like the Rally mode, and how P.D has managed with the idea of lots of Gravel, SNow and Dust, and of course Raining (Bad weather) and Night Driving, these kind of shots will open our eyes much more then the last 3-5 official trailers that has been shown ( still love watching them though) But I do miss the other shots, as a 3D technical interest for Building Race Games, and of course racing them… :O)

It’s all great so far P.D/K.Y, But!! why not showing some Technical Dairy on the different technical Parts of GT5, as Codemasters have done with the F1 Game, it pumps our blood around much faster, when listing and looking at there abilities of creating a Smooth F1 Race game where nothing has been forgotten ( Wow I say, it’s a must have )

  35. Johan

    @Rob

I agreed, I think they will released it in fall, what do they have left to do. maybe some small bugs.

  36. UnkaD013

Yay! Rome is back. Anyone remember Red Rock Valley from GT2? I’d absolutely love it if they brought that back as well, along with Route 11. Well, off to bed. I have to be up in 4 hours for Le Mans!

  37. Stefan1904

I hope that this is not the trailer that they will show at E3, because that should blow the people away. This trailer doesn’t.

  38. Buff

You dont get it do you?
There wont be dynamic weather or smth like that.
I bet, youll get to choose between night/day time on some tracks and thats all.

  39. Dom

Another trailer, again no sign of night or rain racing :(
Also what is the revolution? Even the shown damage model is as silly as it was right from the start. GT5 will sell like crazy, but then it will face a hard time when it comes to reviews and the opinions of fans. The anticipated “revolution” is not visible for casual gamers who were already critical with Prologue.

  40. ICEMAN_ZIDANE

nice ,a little video before e3
i thought it was real ,especially the end with the blue sls amg woow awesome graphics

  41. J.B.

Don’t know if its new…I think there was a video that showed a unique video of “Jeff Gordon” walking down pit lane, but in the video that was shown on Spike it showed an in-car that showed “Dale Jr” with his actual, unique. helmet vs. a generic helmet which I thought was rather a cool touch.

All and all, other than the small detail above, it didn’t show much… Anyone know if the game will have DLC? NASCAR, in addition to going to the bladed rear spoiler is also changing the nose for the COT starting in 2011. Will PD continue to add cars? I would think with the license to NASCAR that they would want to maximize that as much as possible and also look into adding Nationwide cars and trucks. NASCAR also owns the Grand Am series and it would be fantastic to see DP and GT cars added at some point.

  42. alba

New tidbits look are great. It’s just too bad the trailer wasn’t made by PD and made by SCEA dudes. You can clearly see the music choice is out of place and the transitions are lame :P

Anyways, we got to see some new stuff ahead of the conference, so that’s always a good thing!

  43. Godzilla1157890

@RAguie: Um, forgive me for acting like a smartalic, but I think Sony has sponsored the 24 Hours of Le Mans since (at least) 2003, and most of those years, there was not a Gran Turismo game being released.

  44. RAugie

now that sony is doing all of the sponsorships of lemans and is releasing all of these new videos, i think the game is coming in the very near future……hopefully we will know a release date early next week at E3!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  45. Liam

I would love it if Grand Valley, Trial Mountain and Deep Forest are in GT5.
Driving those 3 tracks at night would be awesome awesome and awesome…
Does anyone know about the Photo Mode in GT5?

  46. JustSiDEwaYz

Video not loading on samsung moment sprint. Watched on the tv @ 1080p tho looked awesome! Can’t wait to run some Nascar in some private room with close friends and headsets!

  47. ElieTheBear

wow !! loook at that shot of the rally cars !! at the beginning wow ! will be crazy playing this game … i think delay will pay !!

  48. dalejrfanfreak

Dave you’re funny. Just imagine how long it took them to get those wings to look perfect on those stock cars! It’s not really fair to Sony/PD that NASCAR changed things on them so rapidly.

  49. blackjack

I’m surprised that they are STILL resorting to that clip of the ‘Subaru in a spin’ to show damage. I can’t say it revealed much imo.

I sure hope they spill a whole lot more than this come E3…

  50. DaveTheStalker

NASCAR cars still have that wing and not the spoiler. Which NASCAR went back to a few weeks ago. Sony needs to get on that!!!

  51. contitruck97

It’s cool to see that the 2010 Nascar paint jobs will be featured in the game. Also in that one clip with Tony Stewart’s car and Jr’s car racing side by side, is that Pocono? It migt just be Indy, but who cares everything looks great. Can’t wait for the release date!!
