Was fun to do but when I done the first race I had a Nissan 350z racing along side me!:L I didn’t know that 350’s were made in 1979;)

  2. Sharpener

I used a Chaparral 2J, and won every race easily. I must accept that using the Chaparral 2J made it too easy.

  3. Umbra344

People will always find something to complain about. I had a blast with this, I used a miura at 540pp. It easily won every race with no problems.
As for other things that people moan about, it hardly matters. I barely noticed skid recovery force was on… I was using a Miura. It slipped and slid everywhere regardless. I hardly care about the opponents grid lineup or the fact that it had rolling starts (Races are easy enough with grid starts). I had fun with the whole series and I look forward to more of them.

  4. Conza

Now all GT5 needs is to add more than 3 or so cars that’d be awesome for this category… Good category idea, by GT6 lets hope they have more, the 512BB is a bit soggy, there’s the Countach (so that’s 1 or 2), then the A110? No Maseratis, no Mercedes, No (other) Ferraris, obviously no Porsches… Geez, getting pretty light, is there only 4 real 70s super cars? Throw in some 60s ones for stuffing… Mostly there’s 70s muscle cars and sports cars, not enough Super Cars, which is a pity.

    1. ShiftingGears

Yes, I agree. It is a bit silly having around 1000 cars and being unable to fill a racing category with 12 different models of car. At the very least PD need to incorporate racing liveries and a livery editor for all cars, so that categories might look like a real race series, and to add more variety to grids consisting of four models of car.

  5. Pharlap

Spent some time running the new Seasonal last night. Used the ’74 Lambo tuned to 542pp with ABS on 1 and light suspension changes.
Managed Gold in the 1st 4 races and a Silver @ Eifel on the 1st try..kept touching the grass. 2nd try…took Gold by 12 seconds.
Ended up getting that 427 Cobra as a prize…hate that thing. I have three of them now gathering dust in the back corner of my garage…anyone want one :-)

  6. Dogga23

I would genuinely like to know how people are passing the tracks.
I am not the best GT5 racer, I am probably nowhere in the top billion in the world.
But I enjoy the racing each fortnight.
I would love to see some different types or races rather than the same recycled events just changing the PP.
But until it happens, I will race what is offered.

What I would like to ask you all is…
What cars have you found to be successful in this event.

I have passed the first 4 with the Lambo Countach LP
But cannot get within 10 seconds of the leader in the last Eifel circuit.
Can anyone advise what cat they used.
I enjoyed reading months ago what different cars and PP tunes were being used & I would like to see that help by you the GT public again…

    Any help would be great.

    Cheers all.

    1. TooMuchGrip

consideing that there isn’t even 70 million people that have gran turismo, that is not possible to not be in the top billion…

    2. I roll engineer

Did all races with the Countach, totally stock. Regarding the Eifel track you just need to find the racing line and be smooth!

  7. Rionmoon

Once again chasing rabbits. Only this time completely unrealistic testosterone fueled, bonkers Lambo Miuras. Everybody at PD does understand there isn’t a tradition of racing with Lamborghini or handling for that matter? Talking 1960’s – till they became a Volkswagon subsidiary.

Anyway, being insulted with Lambo rabbits at M’erkas top NASCAR track I had to trounce them with an AMERICAN car: 535pp Superbird. I figured since it was made for NASCAR…

After that beat the other races with a 530pp Ferrari 512BB. I didn’t like turning that stallion into a racer but at least Ferrari has a tradition of racing unlike the insane Lambo rabbits.

    Fun little race overall

And the Miura is a stunning automobile but honestly, a racer? Neeeewp

  8. sammo85

I think more winnings should be based on less aids used, rather than pp difference. I’ve never used driver aids, not even AT.

  9. WonkyFonk

When I took my Miura out to Grand Valley last summer it felt nothing like this event! Saying that, I was only on the East circuit.

I find that my genius as a driver is masked by this aid. Im so sensitive to car behaviour that SRF makes me look terribly amateur.

My biggest regret though was last night. Stefano Domenicali was round for tea and I was showing him my skills. He reckoned that he would have asked me to replace Fernando for the Monaco Grand Prix, had he seen me driving this event with all aids off. No point crying over spilled milk I guess.

This experience just makes me unhappy. Im not even going to mention this event to my mates in the pub later. They will look at me like im an a**hole if I mention SRF.

    1. Pit Crew

It’s a rough 1 Wonky, I agree. Im not as disappointed as I would be had this happened this same time last year. Thats when the New Level card grand prize was introduced.

The TTs are the way to go, especially if you wanna show your skills to your friends, and cars are Spec no tuning due to a separate issue.

Head over to Main page in the GTAcademy Middle East forum, the many of the members there are top 100 (Legitimate, Check out their dialogue) in every GTAcademy and have real world track experience. Tidgney is my fave to follow including his youtube video TTs. The last gtacademy i was stuck on RD 8-5 GTAcademy 370Z tuned at Motegii. His video got me gold and I owe it to him. Just a personal example of members you could find there.

    2. WonkyFonk

Im hoping you didn’t see any truth in my post Pit Crew.

Im in one of those cynical, sarcastic moods, and just bored with the SRF hating. PD have a reason for including it, whether to allow less experienced players to have a chance, or to get feedback to develop the next game. I don’t know, but in truth, I don’t care.

To have people get so angry over such a minor thing – I just feel the need to joke about it.

I understand that there are serious players on here. My level is being satisfied with a top 750 time in the time trials (no tuning). I can’t tune a car to save my life, so a standard setup allows me to be more competitive, with DS3.

      It’s only a game.

    3. Pit Crew

Lol :dunce cap: You worded it so well, I thought you may have been a GT5/GTAcademy sleeper haha.

My only gripe with SRF in seasonals is that its no longer optional in the Race events. PD should have left it as a choice. :)

OFF Topic: I wish we could use EMOs in the news thread sometimes.

Don’t kill me Jordan. Famine, T-12

  10. infamousphil

For the credits only. No joy with SRF. However, I can run these cars in other areas (off line). Yet to pick-up that 20,000,000 cr Lambo. Just don’t dig it that much.

  11. lemans2005

Actually I think the main problem is not only from SRF on, the essential of “chasing rabbit” seasonal event also is the problem.

I suggest PD should make more overtake challenge instead of “chasing rabbit” seasonal event. For me, overtake challenge has complied excitement and close race, which I cannot experience in “chasing rabbit” seasonal event.

    1. Quakebass

SRF being locked on is SUCH an easy problem for PD to fix, though – it’s much harder for them to edit the AI algorithms. They can probably adjust the SRF RIGHT NOW for every available seasonal event. I doubt PD has seen our complaints here, otherwise it would seem this would’ve been changed already.

  12. -Nerf-

    512 BB? HAH!!

I was using the exact same car, exact same color, exact same cup holders…

    Okay, I’m done.

  13. mr_pepps

Loved High Speed ring in my Lambo!
Loved beating the Ferraris in my Lambo!
Didn’t like being beaten by Miuras…in my Lambo.

    1. MeanElf

I’m having fun trying to take those pesky Miuras in my Stratos ’73…not looking positive though…

  14. Amac500

Hey I’m not a SRF user, I’m all about the real world experience. However, why does everybody care if SRF is on? This isn’t a time trial event, this is one of the private seasonal events, so how others play it in no way effects you. If you don’t want SRF then turn it off. If it was a seasonal time trial, then yeah it should be off, but it isn’t. Gran Turismo did need to include SRF in the game because there is a market of arcade racing fans that wouldn’t be up for the challenge off a full on simulator. Having SRF in the game gives people from that market a reason to buy the game. If it wasnt for SRF they would have to give the soft racing tires that people like to cry about. But like I said, it isn’t a leaderboard event so why does it matter!?

    1. Amac500

Okay, before anyone gets on my case, I didn’t realize it was stuck on, and it should be an option. Sorry bout that, been away from the game for a little while.

    2. infamousphil

‘…why does everybody care if SRF is on?’

‘If it wasnt for SRF they would have to give the soft racing tires that people like to cry about. But like I said, it isn’t a leaderboard event so why does it matter!?’

Man, you’re all over the place Amac ;)

GT’s “online” events are jacked up ‘cuz you’re not given a choice, other than not partaking. NotComplaining (NC)

  15. AngelPlayStar

Every time I’m waiting a great event … most of them are really good like this one .. Every time I scroll down to see if SRF is ON ….and yesss … It’s ON!! :((((((((((

  16. waddy2001

Why don’t the mods do their job here? Can’t figure it out. There is an SRF thread all to itself, why clog up these threads with the whining. Every two weeks it’s the same thing. If someone comes here to read about the event, they have to wade through the continual griping. Aren’t there mods who are supposed to control all of this or are they doing the complaining too, letting the thread get lost in SRF complaints instead of discussing the event, pure and simple.

For sure this will get deleted, censored, whatever. Move the dissing over to the SRF thread and stick to the event. If you don’t like the event, don’t take part in it. If GT5 is dead, why come and complain and complain about it. Just don’t play it!

    1. MuoNiuLa

Because the “whining” is still people posting their opinions, whether you like it or not. So the mods aren’t going to delete the comments just because you don’t like them.

    2. Terronium-12

Well if you’re reading the comments for Seasonal Events details when they’re clearly outlined above you’re doing it wrong.

    3. Quakebass

      I’m backing MuoNiuLa here;

We complain because there is an issue that isn’t being fixed, and it’s making the gaming experience worse. I don’t see the point of commenting on anything OTHER than the experience you had, the cars, or the general opinion of the event. So, the general discussion of the event would be that it’s unpleasant to play since SRF is locked on. And we complain because we KNOW PD can fix the issue easily, but don’t.

And as T-12 said, I don’t see why you’d read the comments for information on the event, when all of the information you’d need is in the article…

    1. TeamCZRRacing

Then fire up an arcade race, create a new course, enjoy a private “time trial” with your favorite car, do a few of the GT Life Mode events, or even join an online lobby. There’s plenty more to do in GT5 besides just seasonal events.

  17. TomBrady

Some people on here are idiots.

First of all, SRF IS NOT REAL. It’s not like anything in real life, so don’t use that excuse. They explained exactly how it works. What SRF does is it give you additional grip whenever you start to slide, making it easier to recover. Get it? Skid Recovery Force. Obviously that’s not a real life driver aid, there are no tires that increase grip when they slide, actually it’s the opposite, tires slide, they heat up, and when tires get too hot, they lose grip.

Second of all, it’s not so much that it’s allowed. It’s seasonal events against AI, so if it was allowed to be used, that wouldn’t be a big deal.

THE PROBLEM IS THEY’RE FORCING IT ON PEOPLE WHO CANNOT STAND TO USE IT. If I wanted to drive a game that unrealistic, I wouldn’t be playing GT5, I’d be playing NFS or something. Most people play GT5 because it’s the most realistic driving game by far on consoles, so who the hell are PD to tell us how to drive. For the first 2 years the seasonals NEVER had SRF, it’s not right for them to force it upon us like that. There’s no defending that, it’s wrong, end of story.

We all should be complaining about it. I don’t care if you use it, you should still be impartial enough to admit that it’s wrong for them to force everybody to use it, because most of the community never uses it. You go into public lobbies, sure there’s plenty of noobs who use racing soft tires 24/7 but almost nobody uses or even allows SRF.

If you don’t want to listen to use complain, join us so that we can get PD to pull their heads out of their asses. Once it’s fixed, and put back the way it was, there won’t be anymore complaining will there?

    1. DrKronin

You are exactly correct. I consider myself a fair person, but at this point, whenever I see anyone arguing in defense of forced SRF, I just assume that they’re either woefully unintelligent, or just plain don’t understand what this debate is about. It seems that PD has confused the meaning of “best” with “worst” in EA’s recent victory for “worst company in America,” and are attempting to emulate their view of the customer as a rube.

    2. DBalog

Well done Tom, but, PD is like democracy! People have right to say what they want and still no changes, they don’t care.
Maybe there’s no PD, just like democracy :)

    3. ps3finest

      @DBalog
I suspect I am miss understanding you. What do you mean by ” there’s no PD, just like democracy”?

    4. infamousphil

I think SRF is PD’s attempt to simulate the automobile industry’s ‘stability
control’ systems. Applied in different ways, using braking systems, throttle input and shock/strut calving, it’s supposed to help folks recover from hairy situations. I haven’t driven any vehicles with that kind of system in real life. But from what I read in the industry magazines is that most of the the recovery system (SRF)

    5. infamousphil

Fat thumbs ;( …read in the industry magazines is that the system (SRF) can be turned off or overridden in some cases.

BTW, I’ve never heard of being able to turn off ABS. Guess you could pull the or relay?

Anyway, SRF is cool if if you dig that sort of thing… Forcing it on you is sooo not cool at all. Not complaining, it just ain’t cool.

  18. StiggyGT

Nice events, but… No overtaking challenge? That’s a shame, really enjoyed the first one, it was a new experience. :-(
    Maybe they’ll bring it back…?

    1. grazbro

Sorry, efiv12 was statung that SRF was equipped on vehicles in real life. I meant more like ASM is equipped in real life.

  19. KYD302

They really need to leave SRF optional so the wannabe twats can use it without whining an the rest of us can drive without it the way it should be so sick of this i usually skip these challenges because it annoys me the cars to planted

    1. SirJac

I feel I have less control when SRF is on. Kind of like it just random decides to kick my car sideways when I’m braking in a straight line or something. Either way, I hate it.

    2. grazbro

Sorry, efiv12 was statung that SRF was equipped on vehicles in real life. I meant more like ASM is equipped in real life.

  20. smskeeter23

Makes me wonder how many people that complain about SRF being on because it’s “not realistic” are playing with DS3 only :-/

    1. Pit Crew

That doesn’t even make sense, considering SRF isn’t realistic. That option doesn’t exist in my real life car or any Real life car I have driven.

    2. grazbro

SRF=ASM in real life. That option is pretty much available on any high end car as well as on supercars. Having noob SRF in this seasonal is silly.

    3. Downhill Dino

A lot of people are limited to only using a DS3, they can’t afford a wheel. Sorry overlord of realism. SRF is just a really bothersome driving aid.

    4. RacingManiac

SRF does not equal to ASM. There is ASM in the game. SRF magically creates extra grip after the tire has gone past its limit, that simply does not happen in real life.

    5. Pit Crew

Ok SRF, is not a real life aid, its described in the game as an aid for Beginners, and only exists in GT5, nice try though.

SRF and ASM are 2 different things, except Active Stability Management (ASM) is real. nice try though.

    6. MasterSquidP4

Google dictionary is telling me ASM is an Air-To-Surface-Missile.

      Gran Turismo 6 wishlist updated.

    7. kekke2000

SRF stands for Skid Recovery Force. So unless you are a jedi (which is a real thing) it’s not in real life.

    8. ktmracer1162

Pit crew stop being a sarcastic asshole and stop acting like you know everything stop commenting on people’s posts and telling them how they are wrong and stuff nobody likes that guy

    9. Quakebass

…But what if some is wrong…? Do they not have a right to point that out…? I tend to point out how people are wrong sarcastically, it isn’t just him.

    10. Pit Crew

Im not worried about him QuakeBass hes mad at me because I caught him in a lie. I love how he focuses on my posts only. Makes me feel special lol. His comment will be deleted soon. All of them have been so far.

    11. ktmracer1162

I agree you should in some cases tell someone if they are wrong but that’s all this guy does ALL THE TIME . And pit crew I retracted my statement and corrected it and if you still think it’s a lie take five minutes out of your day and look it up . And there is a difference between correcting someone and being an asshole just go back and look at the crap you say to people

    12. Pit Crew

I looked it up and its still a lie get over it and you cant retract statements in the news thread, only modderators can do that. Grow up and stop being childish. You make yourself look bad by zeroing in on what I say in the News post, like I dont have a right to voice my opinion, but I attempt to find real proof before making a claim, and have that right just like others do. You seem to be trolling just to see what i say, but have no opinion on the actual subject matter in whatever thread is active. Not to mention I dont have to call people out of their names and Play Internet Tough Guy like you seem to be doing. Guess what I corrected you again.

If what you say is so true ktmracer, about GT-R and Volkswagen why havent you made that claim in the Main forum? Just worry about you, Ill worry about me.

  21. QuikSlvr223

OH NO, AN AID IN A VIDEO GAME! I CAN’T BE PROFESSIONAL IN SOMETHING THAT DOESN’T EXIST! MAAAAAAAAAAAHH!
Seriously, just be quiet and quit whining.

  22. QuikSlvr223

I kind of want new Overtake Challenges, but I have a Ferrari 512 I have yet to drive, so I’ll give it a shot.

  23. WonkyFonk

My hardcore driving skills, and love life are being severely compromised with this SRF. I spend 20 minutes putting on my hardcore driving shoes, fireproofs, overalls, hardcore gloves, my Damon Hill replica helmet – clear visor of course. I then sit on my hardcore bed, with my hardcore DS3 in hand. I rip that traction control down to 0 on the settings, and then I notice the SRF.

My fiancee sometimes comes in, asks what driving aids I am using. When I say SRF, and before I can even explain that I have no choice, she puts the robe back on, and walks off laughing while giving me the finger.

I can’t be hardcore under these circumstances.

    1. Logoncal21

you can, just play online with people that forces SRF off
don’t complain and don’t play the SE

  24. Squab

Guys can anyone help me ? I got banned from the online service but I’ve NEVER hacked anything! I’m a loyal fan of the series and now I get banned ?! Everytime I start up GT5 I get disconnected from PSN. The problem occured just today and I don’t know what to do :( Has anyone got the same problems ?

    1. smskeeter23

You may not actually be banned. I get messages like that once a week or so but when I quit and restart GT it usually goes away.

    2. steebz

I have had this problem as well, i contacted sony about it and was told that the network uses several servers to store user accounts. Sometimes one of these servers is shut down for maintainance. This means anybody who has a user account on the affected server will not be able to log into their accounts while the maintainance is in progress.

I was worried because i could login with my second account but my main account wouldn’t work at all, so the explination i was given makes sense.

I just waited for two hours, tried again to log in to my main account and everything was OK

    1. Brunskill777

Petition AGAINST people moaning about SRF, I’ll sign up to that as this moaning is a bit pathetic don’t you think?

    2. DBalog

Amazing comment pvig, definitely a bad racer!
SRF is imagined assist, non existing!
You understand that, don’t you LOL

    3. praiano63

Why raising the level using 550PP with sport hard tires if you low it back again with the SRF ????
SRF is a good thing for people that don’t have so much time to spend playing and want an easy car to race with having fun ,in an online room where you can allow it or not.

    4. Brunskill777

Well if you two believe in SRF being the death of PROFESSIONAL (spell it right if you want to be taken seriously) drivers on GT5, how come there are people who can drive in GT academy? Perhaps it’s because they played online without any assists, so if you want to not have to race with SRF on, play online with you’re friends. SRF is on the game, it may not be real but it’s on and PD have forced it on for these seasonals, GET OVER IT

    5. Pvig73

I’m not fussed if its on or off (preferably off) but had enough of the moaning & it’s rare that I comment. The only aid I have on when racing or practising is ABS………mostly :-)

    6. Logoncal21

I also use only ABS because without them it’s hard as sh!t.
and i don’t like SRF, but i’m not complaining
i’m not doing the seasonal events, i just play online
people wastes their time complaining about SRF and changes nothing
just like complaining EA, it will never change.

  25. Progress823

Aw, f**k, SRF with no option to turn off again? This is worse than people modding cars! WTF Polyphony.

  26. LERK84

    @Brunskill777
I too have full items list & its not easy to get rid of. Firstly you cant delete museum cards instead can only give away 5 per day so as you can work out you 1 step forward in giving away 5 cards then go 2 steps back by recieving 10 per day. Also it will only delete 1 of the duplicate cards not all, that goes for paint chips & museum cards. Although you can delete paint chips or just repeatedly paint cars to use them but I’d rather get rid of my thousands of museum cards.

    1. Brunskill777

Thanks, I was just looking at that, I’ll probably just delete my duplicate paints, although I really like having loads, even though I very rarely paint cars. The only time I really paint them is if you can only buy them in one colour but they can be painted. Anyways deleting paints is the way forward, but not being able to delete museum cards is a bit stupid. Thanks again :)

    2. JohnScoonsBeard

The museum cards don’t count in your 7000 item limit. Neither do cars. Everything else does though.

      Horns
      Suits
      Helmets
      Unused upgrade parts
      Unused car tickets
      Unused car wash tickets
      Unused engine rebuild tickets
      Unused car reset tickets

      And obviously duplicate paints

  27. Brunskill777

So these are LITERALLY EXACTLY THE SAME SPECS AS THE LAST SUPERCAR NOSTALGIASEASONAL, do PD have no imagination? Anyways the reason I’m posting is that I have an (unrelated) question: about 2 weeks ago, after logging in and getting my 10 paints and museum cards, I get a message saying ‘ You don’t have room for any more items, please use or delete some items and try again’. Then a few days ago, after still being on 10 paints, 200% win bonus etc, it suddenly only gave me 5 paints and no win bonus. I already have 2700 paints and all but the last one or two museum cards for each manufacturer, although I do have many duplicates of some cards. SO: do I have to delete some cards AND paints or just one or the other?, and if I delete a paint or card, will it just delete one of the duplicates or all of the duplicates of that card/paint? (Sorry for the long post, answers appreciated).

    1. Logoncal21

if they really have no imagination, they really won’t make a good game for the next Gran turismo

    1. TomBrady

Seriously, I don’t understand why they put it on in the first place. Someone should start one at petition. com or whatever it is. I’ll literally tell all of my GT5 friends, so should everyone else because this SRF BS has got to go.

We got an a whole bunch of cars to choose from here(being sarcastic), i hope gt6 doesnt force you to use skid recovery, that is so lame. It should be like a spec or lobbys, its should be up to us.

    1. Logoncal21

i highly doubt that they put SRF in gt6 and if they put i don’t care
BUT PLEASE DO NOT DO THE PREMIUM/STANDARD CAR THING, IT’S LAZY

“Eifel” is a widely used location available in the game..?

I’m going to vote no on that one =/

Cool event but with the training wheels once again welded to us.. not going to bother.. again..

    1. m8h3r

In regards to seasonals yes it is. Every single “race” seasonal has a created track. Majority of these being Eifel. Then most of the rest Toscana.

DLC was always going to be every three months. That’s why in about 18 months we’ve had about 3 DLC packs.

    2. Logoncal21

atleast they’re not 1 day DLC HUH? AMIRITE EA? HUH?
and the dlcs are quite cheap and some of them are free
      oh, i mean microtransations

    1. Pit Crew

Your still expecting DLC? Dude just give it up and move on. That horse is Dead Dead emphatically Dead.

    2. TomBrady

They stopped DLC over a year ago. They were supposed to bring DLC 2012 march, they postponed it to do tthe stupid GT Academy crap, then only released 3 cars that people didn’t even want (except for the HSV 010, that thing’s awesome)

    3. Logoncal21

also, yeah, GT5 is done, we have to wait GT6 in the final year.
meanwhile, we can keep having fun playing online or basically play the previous ones
GT2 still the best no matter what
