Earlier this year, Kunos Simulazioni confirmed work was being done to bring “the best circuit in the world”, Brands Hatch, to Assetto Corsa. Kunos have confirmed that Brands Hatch will be coming to the game alongside seven new rides in Dream Pack 3 due on December 15th.

Brands Hatch, a venue synonymous with British motorsports and former home of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, will be the fourth track to be included in Assetto Corsa that was recreated using laser-scanning, joining the likes of the Nordschleife and Circuit de Catalunya.

As you’ve no doubt spotted in the official video teaser for Dream Pack 3, the 1963 Lotus 25 driven by Jim Clark will be included as Kunos alluded to earlier last month. The full list of cars included are as follows:

  • Lotus 25 1963
  • Lotus 72D
  • McLaren 650 GT3
  • Mercedes AMG GT3
  • Abarth 500 Assetto Corsa
  • Ford Escort MK1
  • Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera

I can’t wait to have the Gallardo Superleggera out on the Nordschleife! Still waiting on the Aventador though. I know there hasn’t been an official mention of the Huracan coming to AC, but since we have the GT3 version already, I would have thought making a road going Huracan wouldn’t have been too much more work (on the modelling side). Perhaps it’s a licensing issue? Just because they worked out a licensing deal with Lamborghini, I’m sure that doesn’t mean they can do anything they want with the brand.

Another great selection of cars from Kunos. Should make up the majority of the roster for the Assetto Corsa Time Attack Challenge 3.0!

I wish some of this awesome news was for GT, my favorite game. The only reason to buy a PS1, PS2, PS3, and recently a PS4. I remember being ecstatic for the Golf R and Scirroco R.

The Gallardo is the road car version right? Lil disappointed in the GT3 cars. We have too many already, don’t need more but the lotus F1’s are gonna be EPIC. Not to mention Laser Scanned Brands Hatch. Gotta love that. Now I have Iracing’s, pCars, GT6’s and soon AC’s

Forza laserscanned?! xD. Hey, I’m not picking on you man, because I know you have your doubts, but not even on Forza you can feel lemans’s mulsane straight bumps, same thing for Daytona

    2. SimTourist

Eh, the way it’s translated to the physics engine doesn’t depend on how the track was captured. You could easily add bumps at will.

    3. SimTourist

I don’t think Le Mans is laserscanned in Forza, Daytona probably is. I don’t remember feeling any bumps on it in GT6 either, it was pretty smooth.

Zandvoort isn’t laser-scanned. Multiple sites have misinformed and AC can no longer say that all official tracks are laser-scanned either.(Not that most of us can tell anyway)

Nonetheless, I’m a big fan of the game and cannot wait for Brands Hatch.

That’s interesting. Do you have any proof? I’m not doubting you, I just find this incredibly interesting now.

    2. TomBrady

@T12 I actually asked and Stefano answered directly, it’s not laser scanned. It was actually made by the RSR mod team.

    3. Terronium-12

Indeed he did. It was made with GPS data though and then touched up by Kunos just like the Miura was.

      Interesting all the same.

I have to say though, for a track that is not laser scanned, there’s no way I’d be able to tell that from driving it. The track is chock full of small undulations and imperfections like a laser scanned track would be and you can feel the subtle camber differences in the various corners as well. It’s the best non-laser scanned track I’ve even driven in a sim.

    5. TomBrady

@JP As good as it is, I was able to tell pretty much instantly that it wasn’t laser scanned. I had originally thought it was laser scanned but it seemed off to me so that’s why I went digging and found out. It’s great as all of RSR’s work is but there was something uncanny about it right away that made me question whether it was scanned and it wasn’t
