First, the good news: more than 756 of GT5’s cars were revealed in a recent tech demo of Sony’s PlayView image rendering software. The bad news: we only know that one of them is a Nissan 240ZG.
YouTuber ukoredgar2143 has provided us with some of the most entertaining gameplay videos yet! He’s been camped out at his local Best Buy, playing GT5 Kiosk Demo and putting the game’s new smoke effects to good use. Unfortunately, the demo doesn’t include skidmarks, but these clips still provide a nice preview of what’s to come! Thanks to all who sent these in.
A few videos and impressions are rolling in from the Honda CR-Z promo event in Times Square today, but the GT5 demo on display is a little underwhelming. With that said, RavenFox of NeoGAF did catch a glimpse of High Speed Ring in the rain in the course selection menu – though it wasn’t actually raining when his race began.
Sony’s teaming up with Honda in a cross-promotion of GT5 and the new CR-Z Sport Hybrid Coupe in New York City’s Times Square this Thursday, September 23rd, from 10am to 6pm. You can read the official announcement for everything Honda has planned at the event, but here’s the most important thing to know: GT5 will be playable in 3D “racing sleds” all day long. The CR-Z will be featured in this demo, obviously, and it will be interesting to see which courses they’ll have available.
The first batch of Kazunori Yamauchi interviews are finally getting published from last week’s Tokyo Game Show 2010! Here’s a translated transcript of GameBlog’s video interview above, kindly provided by our own RoadRunner99:
In what has become a tradition of sorts, I’m very excited to be able to share with you Polyphony Digital’s complete collection of GT5 screenshots released from last week’s Tokyo Game Show 2010: 95 images at full resolution in 18 megapixels.
The video may be in Italian, but you don’t have to speak the language to appreciate this interesting gameplay footage from TGS 2010. Check the time stamp references below so you catch all of the different clips:
GT Academy 2010 is about to be turned into a reality TV series, airing Sundays this fall on UK television’s Channel 4. As you may recall, GT Academy 2010 took the world’s fastest hot-lappers (so long as they didn’t live in excluded countries, such as Japan, Canada, or the United States…ugh) from the GT5 Time Trial Demo and put them under stewardship of real-world motorsports stars such as Eddie Jordan, Johnnie Herbert, and Sabine Schmitz for 5 days of physical, mental, and driving tests at Silverstone. The winner joined the RJN Nissan Motorsports team to compete for the FIA GT4 2010 European Cup.
Here’s our first look at the new Gran Turismo 5 “Weather Trailer” just revealed at the Tokyo Game Show 2010 Sony press conference. I’ll update this post immediately as soon as the HD version is available!
At the Sony TGS 2010 press conference, Yamauchi gave a brief overview of some of the new online functionality in GT5 – including web-based account management known as “Gran Turismo Anywhere”. Here’s a quick overview of what he said, via 1UP’s live blog. I’ll provide more specific details when they’re available.
