I must admit that the scenery isn’t as good as, say, FM3, but when you’re moving at high speeds, you can’t notice the 2-D halves at all. It’s quite the wonderful mind trick :)

  2. LetsDoThis

Yamaguchi is make this world go under! We must act now.
In 2011 another financial crisis will be present due to people being fired from their job, just to play GT5.
Mankind will survive, but not by much!

And we all know that the world will go under in 2012 due to the GT6 release.

  3. JRacing

Yes. I was very impressed by the trees. I won’t be able to stay on the road in GT5 now because of the beautiful scenery and trees.

  4. IronM@sk

I need a break from Le Sarthe. I just spent all last week doing the Circuit de La Sathe II 24hr endurance race in a barely drivable Jag XJR-9.

  5. Shouden

Anyone notice the “Flash” button on the Calsonic GT-R’s steering wheel. We’ve seen a SuperGT Lexus flashing it’s lights. It’s cool to see further evidence that we will, indeed, be able to flash our lights at slower traffic…or maybe at people who are over blocking or just to say hi.

  6. smthrlr

Finally–a video where the player actually KNOWS how to virtually pilot a car! Those have been few and far between at Gamescom and the rest.

  7. Zuel

The track detail is outstanding. It looks like you can read the track a lot better looking for bumbs and such should be much easier.

  8. bicarb

I’m so dissapointed with the latest videos, I can still see no evidence of birds flying or insects hitting the screen. What about leaves and other debris on the track, so unrealistic…….

    1. Super_Colossal

It’s SSSOOOOO unrealistic because of those things…listen to yourself…we’re not going to buy GT5 to birdwatch. Focus on the actual purpose of the game. It’s a freaking RACING simulator. Not Tiger Woods golf tournament.

    1. Philmangt

      @LoneWanderer

Yeah but in tourist trophy your driver, well rider, is on a motorcycle and able to be seen. in GT you cant see the driver in any view for the most part and if you do, its just his head. so whats the point. it would just be taking up space that is needed or better things

  9. FrancisBenjamin

Nice shutter effect… not too much but it gives the feel of speed… and the sounds seem to be MUCH, MUCH better now…

  10. llllllllllllll

i wish if they put nitrous in gt5 xD … it would be fun … they can put it in arcade mode …. why they don’t put it ? .. they use it in real , so why not ? .. :)

    1. llllllllllllll

i hope ur right … i’ll buy 2 gt5 and play with my brother, it’s really kool …. i hope the customise is better then the other games , i love customise in car games like need for speed … i know this game is different but it will be kool if it gives us the same experince like need for speed pro street , i made a car in it and then i saw it in real ,it was kool ..

  11. insomniac

They seem to have captured the changes in gradients a lot better than F3, coming back up towards the Porsche curves, the change in elevation is more pronounced.

  12. terminator363

First video was awesome, also SPA GP was great. Spa would be a nice addition, but for now, I’m happy with what I have.

  13. Geo_212

Played Forza 3 the other day with the same car (first video) on the same track (ironic, huh?), and, of course, the cockpit view in this is A LOT more detailed. Same with the outside of the car. And Forza 3 doesn’t map out the bumpiness of the straight. Plus, the engine is sounding closer to Forza 3’s. What the heck, Forza can’t compare to this!!! GT forever!!! :D

    1. danielwhite74

It’s not that the bumpiness of the straight isn’t mapped out in Forza, it’s just that cars are ridiculously stable at high speeds in that game regardless.

    2. Geo_212

Oh… it still proves which is better, though xP And Forza’s physics seem more like NFS: Shift’s physics the more I play GT5:P. (can’t wait to port my completed garage into GT5!!! :D)

    3. rocketcaron

I’ll just ask you this; are actually saying that FM3 physics are like NFS Shift physics?

How are you playing these games? With a steering wheel or a regular controller?

    4. Geo_212

I see what you mean… I don’t have a wheel for the PS3, sadly. I made an oath to get one for GT5, though x) (I don’t even own an Xbox, I was playing on my friend’s)
Also, in NFS: Shift, there’s lag on the steering, so that doesn’t help to compare either.

    5. Geo_212

Perhaps you’re right… I haven’t played NFS: Shift in forever, since I dumped it after maybe a month of playing it. I’m probably just “remembering” wrong :P

  14. trk29

Saw a weird hand movement in second video when he is spinning out he tries to shift when his left hand is it 12:00

  15. magic ayrton

I think we need dynamic rain in this game, that would be better than damage in my opinion and would add immensely to the game.. hope it’s in.

  16. EBHK

    nice!

It could be awesome to drive a go-kart race on Circuit de la Sarthe, a long lap, but still going to try it, if possible.

  17. Ringmaster

Talking about the technology of the GT5 engine…

Look at the reflections over the car. The scenery pops up (sec. 0:54) and the other cars are not reflected, but this is better than nothing, and better than all the others.

So while in game, when something is marked by PD as “reflectant”, a little image of the scenery is calculated (like with the mirrors but with less detail).

Don’t expect dynamic weather, if there is any. There is no enough power to calculate it like in F1 2010 (at 1080p it is impossible). Sorry. But with dynamic day/night (and all the other details) and this quality I am happy for now. Expect it for GT6 and with an engine improved.

  18. nasanu

    Hmm…

Seems like the crazy slipstream effect is still in. That skyline just eats the other cars up in a straight line, just like in prologue and every GT game before it.

    Hope I am wrong.

    1. DrTrouserPlank

The slipstream effect isn’t THAT pronounced.. the reason he catches them quicker than normal is because on exiting the corner before the first long straight, he runs way over the exit curb allowing him to carry a lot more exit speed than the AI that stayed within the track boundaries.

He gets a tow no doubt, but it doesn’t look like the vacuum that used to suck you along. The question that really matters is how pronounced the slipstreaming is on normal cars that don’t have any aerodynamic parts, because the tow should be minimal.

    2. Vulcao

I agree with Bernd, plus the possibility of the Calsonic being faster than the other cars. There’s another Calsonic going very fast.

What concerns me is the abrupt movement of the other Calsonic exactly at 1:35. He turns right too fast to try to overtake.

    3. Bernd

@Vulcao – You’re right, didn’t notice that before. I’ve seen F1 cars moving that fast, but I doubt a JGTC can do it

  19. Craigles

Really nice driving in 1st video and i love the way that supra tried to overtake him. In gt4 or gt5p the car would of just gone straight into the back of you and make you go wide in the corner and then overtake you.

  20. ukgtfan

I can’t believe that of all the stupid things people moan about on here, no one has picked up on the most annoying thing about this game. The moving sky. sky doesn’t move when you turn a corner, or go around a gentle curve (in real life). The only time the sky doesn’t move is when you are going in a straight line on gt. when i look at all the other amazing things in the game, this doesn’t bother me that much. but when i watch a video like the one above, with lots of skyline (not the car), then it becomes noticable. I know it’s just a wrap around sky, but you’d think they could make it better with all the advancements in graphics and cpu power we have now. Anyway, great game. cant wait. rant over.. cheers.

    1. magic ayrton

And one of the most stupid things ever said is your sky comment.. wtf, I mean when you turn a corner the sky will move as you are changing direction… It looks fabulous.. can’t see the problem.

Only real problem with this game is I’m not playing it right now!

    2. ukgtfan

No, i wasn’t being sarcastic. look out the side window next time you’re in a car. The sky doesn’t move. It’s so far away as to give the illusion of not moving. when you are in a car travelling, the clouds don’t whiz past!! they remain static. The sky does not move as you turn slightly round a corner.., it completly spoils the illusion of racing in a real environment..

    3. stevenhiggster

Ok, do me a favour, go outdoors, look up at the sky, then walk round a corner and tell me if you’re still looking at the same piece of sky! If you are then I’m afraid you need to get checked out.

    4. Philmangt

Actually UKgtfan, the sky doesnt move, your direction changes, giving you a new field of view. in real life it seems the field of view doesnt change much due to periferal vision. Due to the fact that you looking through a tv screen, it becomes much more apparent.
      now pipe down!

    5. ukgtfan

Actually, on GT5 you can tell the sky is fixed to the ground, when you turn a corner, watch the buildings move and the sky moves with them. this is not correct.

    6. Bernd

Now this is becoming silly. It looks absolutely gorgeous. Besides, I’m not looking to the sky that much, when I’m in the middle of pack.

  21. Gejost

In many video’s the colours seems are a bit of, especially the grass. I don’t know about you guys but in my country the grass isn’t that (almost radiant) green. Does this have something to do with how they captured the video?

    1. DrTrouserPlank

Lots of TV’s have their greyscale purposely set incorrectly by the factory so that when the unit is on display in shops, you get really green grass and people who don’t know much about TV’s think that it must mean the picture is really good. It’s the same as making the whites a little bluer… it makes them look more white than true white.

The fact that this is all “off-screen” footage means that it’s impossible to judge the graphics. In fact the game will look slightly less photo-realistic when you play it yourself as the lighting changes that occur when capturing to camera often make a game look better than it is.

      Not long now though :)

    2. Bernd

I think, the grass is too colorful, like in GT5P, while the track is too dark and glossy. Normally tarmac should be grey and matt, not almost black, unless it’s very new tarmac
But – no problem with that

  22. Steph290

Woot! Finally a decent driver. You guys don’t know how disappointing it’s been watching people play the game ahead of time and all they seek to do is crash, CraSh, CRASH! PD has done an epic job with GT5.

  23. Hentis

The first video is top notch. Doesnt matter whether you have the racing line on or not. Ihave seen some videos with it on and the driving is actually appauling.
The LA Sarthe Track looks fantastic. Going down the Mousanne straight with the two red bands either side of you feels differnt and the track looks a lot better than Codies version in Race Driver Grid. I didnt do the Le Man 24 hour but I did do the Nordschlieffe 24 hour in GT4 as well sa the 4 hour enduro but to be honest I would much prefer it if they had the choice as they do in Race Driver Grid. 20 minutes = 24 hours or 2 hours = 24 hours or the whole 24 hour race. But for me if its 24 hours then you would have to be able to save it. They give you speeded up dynamic lighting so theres no way that the option is not available to be done. But I suppose we will have to wait and see.

As to Rolling starts, I think with 16 cars on the grid, that will be the norm. If its 1 on 1’s for certain things then it could be a standing start. 16 cars is the max that will be in anyone race so I cant see with everyone starting at once from a standing start then it will be a tad much even for the Cell Proccessor. Again we will have to wait and see.

    1. Bernd

Can you explain what’s the difficulty, why the cell processor can’t handle that ? Is it smoke or the sudden movement of 16 cars (or both)?

  24. yaycandy69

after racing on this track on grid. The track seems to be too narrow on gran turismo because its really wide on grid. i know codemasters lazer scan their tracks. im not sure how PD does it other than photos

    1. Hentis

In some videos I have seen from PD they had a camera tethered on the roof of the car looking forward backwards, tot he left and tot he right. helicopter shots, trackside shots and quite possibly another way but I cant remember what its called now.

    2. RACECAR

Codemasters didn’t model it as accurately. In real life, this is pretty much how the real circuit looks. Hell, look at the Ford Chicane. We all know in real life you can’t go through there at the speeds you do on Grid. You have to at least go down to 2nd or 1st gear. The curbs are also innaccurate as they for the most part are flat.

    3. Sivers

I didn’t know codemasters laser scan their tracks. their version of Spa is pretty poor, the bus stop in particular.

    1. GT and Forza God

Hmm, I’ll start. Sense of speed didn’t look too crash hot in video 1, for what those cars on, they didn’t look very fast.

We can’t 100% judge the videos till we play the game, but that was just my observation.

    2. ZoiD

And don’t forget, driving on a circuit also reduces the sence of speed compared to driving on normal road (in my opinion).

    3. Philmangt

ZoID is absolutely right. I think the sense of speed is fairly accurate. Games like NFS SHift are severely exaggerated.

  25. BlakeC

Pardon my ignorance but I’m new to the GR franchise but have we had any standing start footage yet? Hopefully it’s not a rolling start on every race

    1. Bernd

Not sure about standing starts in GT5, but we had them in GT4: Tokyo R246, El Capitan, Trial Mountain, Apricot Hill, Suzuka, Fuji come to mind. So we can hope for some in GT5, I think :-)

    2. Philmangt

      @Super_Colossal

Just the regular version lol. Like do an online event with the f1 cars only. usually the expert events. suzuka, fuji are always standing starts

  26. priesty_lfc

1st video good driving? I thought itvwas pretty average, (plus he had the driving line on!)

Anybody seen 16 premium cars on track? I’m starting to wonder if it’s 8 premium and 16 non std on track……….

    Anyway, looking great!

    1. Garto

Compared to the other videos, the guy driving is not as bad compared to the rest of the blokes. Can’t blame them though, some of them are actually getting the footage for us while driving with one hand.

Not an easy feat, I reckon.

  27. xSTRAIGHTEDGEx

    63 more days!!!

Someone reply to me with a good playlist of artist or musical
I mean something relaxing for GT5

Im looking for music to relax on 24h races & photomode

:) so help me out with good relax music any song

    & thanks Jordan

You should be the one who owns the GT official website

    You give us better news!!!

    & woah
I cant wait to use an FTO LM Edition

    :)

I hope they have that car

Or it would be funny if the old van from GT2 is on GT5
    The Renault van

    1. tehutti

Hey xSTRAIGHTEDGEx!!! Ive just saw your request of some gooddddd relaxing music.I’m also counting the days with a little counter on my mac,and for all these years of waiting I continued to expand my music library on my ps3 considerably reducing the last few gigabytes on my HDD.I will recommend these artist: Air,Glenn underground,Ryuchi Sakamoto,The Cinematic Orchestra.Try also to check those albums, you can easily find it on google: Cafe del Mar,100 Chillout Classics,Cafe Solaire,Chilled Acoustic,Hed Kandi Lounge,Ibiza chillout, ibiza lounge,la nuit,Stereo Sushi.Check out also these radios:deep fm,deepinside,Dogglounge. If you have other question send me an email.Bye.

    2. R35-Vspec

Hey few moments ago someone said something like 90 days left and now we’re only 60 days away from GT5 /fap fap fap

    3. dearlybeloved

HI there, ow are you man! if you want a killer artist to listen to, try Prince and especially a track called ‘computer blue’ the guitar lick in there is just awesome. Also try Outkast, red hot chilli peppers with the californication album, fleetwood mac ‘the chain’

those are the ones off the top of my head and one more system with their albums hypnotize and mezmerise.

If i remember any more i will let you know.

      bye4now

    1. Bernd

Yes, but he had to withdraw. I’ve seen a similar attack in the German ADAC GT-Masters this weekend. A Lamborghini Gallardo didn’t want to withdraw against an Audi R8, both cars wrecked and out of the race :-(

  28. GTbyPlaystation

Wow! I’m Surprised That This Guy Can Drive Properly! :P (1st Video)
And Circuit De La Sarthe Looks Awesome, Can’t Wait For The Whole Game!

    1. Philmangt

Yeah the AI was impressive there. how it darted to the other side since you were coming up on the on that side! XD

  29. organ-donor

Good to see a proper hoodcam view, will come in handy on standard cars. Also looked like the stig was driving in the first video compared to some other videos we have seen lol.

    1. J1M_Aus

soz, I’m not down with the times but have PD changed the outside car view so that its closer now as compared with GT5P?

    2. Corey

@J1M_Aus On the Skyline it looks like they have but for some reason on the SLR McLaren it seems annoyingly far away.

    3. Sasek

I like the hoodcam view. The most convenient.
And probably will be easier to do better lap times on the track than on the camera inside the car.

    4. Alaa1982

lol that’s what I thought too.
Nice too see how the car handles and stuff instead of going full speed into the wall.
Also, can’t wait to see the led lights on the G27 to light up in corresponding to the RPM of the car.

    1. GTfan

Ya that why i won’t care about the 10 GB of space needed to run this AMAZING game. and I’ll add to what you said. 24 hours of Le Mans + Nurburgring + Dynamic Weather + Graphics = The Greatest Simulator Ever Made

    2. jaketovey

thats true, weather is probably the last thing to be confirmed and its the thing i want most of all in the game!

anyone see spa gp yesterday? i want a race like that on gt5 all the rain and pitting for new tyres would be awesome, as long as your not jenson button! :)

    3. stealmaskey

@jaketovey. I saw the GP and was exciting.

Imagine in GT5, the race of 1000km of Spa with some good race car of LMP1 like Peugeot 908 HDI-FAP or Audi R8,10,15??? or LMP2 like Pescarolo… also the LMGT1 and LMGT2 category with: Corvette C6 R, Ford GT, Viper SRT, DBR9, Saleen S7, Murcielago, Ferrari F430 GT, BMW M3, etc. And you can only choose one category, the others 15 cars are the same category, that means a tight battle. And finaly imagine Spa closed by dark clouds, driving in cockpit view and finally crossing “Eau Rouge” raining.

    4. d3br34k5

      @witham

Can you link to the 1TB 2.5″ HDD that has a height of 9.5mm? Every one I look at seems to come in at a height of 12.5mm and wont fit in my PS3.

I would buy one this very moment if a 1TB drive would fit inside the system.

For future coolness, remember that 750GB is the biggest number you can throw around when referring to the size of your hard drive installed inside your PS3.

…unless you’ve somehow cleanly modded your system using precision craftsmanship to accept the taller 12.5mm height of 1TB 2.5″ drives or simply ran some SATA extensions from the stock connections. Awesome, if so.

1TB 2.5″ 9.5mm drives should arrive at some point, but that time is not today.

    1. Mr Frappy

Funny how those desperate to get the first comment in rarely say more than a couple words as they panic over it!

    2. FlareKR

      Mentality of FIRST!
      by FlareKR
A long time, when computers weren’t around, people were thirsty. They would walk around the desert looking for water. When one of them got water they said “FIRST!” due to a speech impediment, bringing on a lack of producing a TH sound, brought on to them by lack of water. They usually drank it all, while everyone else killed themselves drinking motor oil after watching Quantum of Solace.
Later, people “thirsty for attention” and lack of a certain male organ, started to do the same to the Forum GTPlanetum (and just about every thing you can comment on), barging through the front doors of the forum without a toga screaming FIRST!. However, after a while, people with lives started to get pissed off, apart from the anger building up from the invasion of trolls that were knocking down columns.
After knowing they would be ridiculed repeatedly, the “thirsty” GTPlanetans, started replace, FIRST, with other one syllable comments like COOL, NICE. Other sane people replied with less nicer one word syllables, usually those starting with an F. So in the end, you can bring a horse to water, but he’s probably already there.
      -The End

Phew, I’m saving that and putting it on every “first” from now on, lol. It’s good to see LeMans, but I think we already confirmed the track. We need to start looking for a complete car list.
