because you can’t go for 24 hours straight, they put in game saves. such a stupid idea. I bet Allan McNish would love that in game saving in 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours race.. in a “real driving simulator” you can’t use your b-spec drivers, but you can save your game in a race.

This is an inquiry, not a DLC suggestion, but has anyone checked out the Pininfarina designed Lancia Stratos custom car built on a shortened Ferrari 430 chasis? Very nice, and has a V8. Would definitely look and feel good in this game.
Cheers for making the time trails stupid AGAIN with the tyre choice… Comfort budget soft tyres on a 300-400+BHP Evo… yeah like anyone but the cheapest owner would put those cheap gripless tyres on anything with that kind of power…
Crappy hatchbacks with no power = Comfort tyres
Sports cars/powerful cars = sports tyres (hints in the name)
racing cars = (you guessed it) racing tyres!
sticking comfort tyres on powerful cars ruins the whole experience just as much as sticking racing softs on.
and before anyone offers the Noob comeback, I’m hardly a noob, I just hate comfort tyres… theyre unrealistic and make the game feel cheap! I mean come on, making an evo understeer like its on ice at 35mph? I’ve had tyres in real life that cost £50 and they gave grip at speeds double that so why the ice tyres I’ll never know!
then again I made this point with the GT-R seasonals a few months back… a Nissan GT-R on budget blocks of ice indeed. HAHA
Lol yes everyone is right the pic is sweet. These events were pretty tough for me. I ended up beating the times by a couple seconds or so but I had to really try. I think they should go back to that really really hard seasonal style. The one with the fiat, Subaru, and something else. That one was epic and so insanly tough.

When I did drift trial for the Evo, I got position 1202. Best ever for me. But this is probably due to everyone on GTAcademy and don’t have time for seasonals. Here in NZ we have no GTAcademy :(
Fantastic time trial PD, especially the EVO one. I Have spent ages climbing the leaderboards, tuning my car, and now i`m down to 1.39.314. It would be a nice idea to award the top 100 placed drvers with some special prive, like a unique paint chip.
Limiting the car selection to MITSUBISHI EVOLUTIONS makes it feel a bit fresher. Its more interesting to see different cars at the top of the tables.
I hope PD are going to bring back the varied A spec seasonal races like the Ferrari F1 races. WHen they deleted the f1 races there was nowhere to race an f1 car in single player .

Mitsubishi’s Marketing and PR departments couldn’t have thought up a better pic to place in Magazines, ads, etc.. As a matter of fact, they’ll probably be hijacking this photo if one of their associates/emplyees see this XD I’ll be looking for this in my next Car and Driver, Road & Track, Dupont Registry, et all..

It seems that the picture has been a huge success. It reminds me of someone who took a similar pic of all Honda Type-R models in Midfield Raceway. It’s funny that all of them were also white.
Now all they need to do is put an EVO vs WRX STi championship in GT6, oh and by the way Camaro vs Mustang, Corvette vs Viper, Mazda RX vs Nissan Z and so on would be nice

Photoshop can accomplish the same thing and it’s easier than getting ten friends to get the same color car on the same day and take the time to line up the cars. Not all of us have ten friends with no lives. ;P

Hmm… you might have a point there. I’m starting to think about the difficulties of getting this done with friends.
Not hard to do if you have a racing team, drift team, drag league, car club, and alliances.
I was one of the 10 EVO’s that day, I can asure you NO photoshop used here. We are just a group of pic enthousiasts who get’s together ocasionaly to make pics like this!!

Laguna Seca drift is a ***** i wasn’t expecting it to be that hard GT5 needs to fix the points setup because you can drift better with a 450hp car then the TVRs6 and your score is about 80% less for a better drift and i can’t find a quick tune for the TVr that works worth a damn some cars should be banned from the special events TVR 2j v8 vantage buick special to name a few they should make everyone use the one of say 5 cars that would make it alot more competitive but thats just imo. the time trials are tits though i used my evo six which i havent used in over 6 months

It saddens me that the top people are using
SRF. They should ban this for time trials!
Are you serious? They are using Skid Recovery? I didn’t think it was possible to use it. The problem is that they might be underestimating the car too much. You could beat this TT with a close to stock Evo(as long as it’s not the X) with nothing but ABS 1 if you mess around with the ballast and things like that.
And yes. They should ban SRF from ANY test, or at least not record the lap times of the ones who used it.
Huh? I am pretty sure SRF is not available in the time trials. It’s grayed out in the menu.
I also liked the difficulty in the new TTs, not too easy and not too hard.
It’s all in the tuning and driving but damn some times are fast.
I’ll check it out again later.
lot of top drivers used active steering and a couple used traction control in time trials, and they had steering wheels. comfort tires make you crazy.

I made my first post not lomg back about front red outside tire.I have re-read that relizes I didn’t have an f… glue.I have since been trying to understand the tuning aspectsBalance being forst..Now maybe somebody can take the same car and get the same time or better without the weight,but she handles no problem shoots at mid turn and alows you to stomp on gas if you have a lead foot but better to ease as you can get on throttle before apex on some corners.
I use a g27 wheel though I had it set on automatic trans.I am still learning to grasp the driving aspects aswell.Not sure how it would be no controllers but don’t see a problem.Let me know if this works for you.
Will get around to full tunes at some point.

The Laguna Seca Time Trial is really very tough? What settings should the car be? I didn’t manage anything better than Bronze.
I used an Evo 9. Sport Suspension, weight reduction 1, Stage 2 Turbo and that’s about it. Adjust the ballast a bit so you can get close to a 50% 50% weight distribution. Everything else leave it how it is. I got a 1:40.684 which is more than enough to get the gold.

The problem with the Evo (I don’t know which one you’re using) like with any similar 4wd car is that if you brake late you’ll get an enourmous understeer that will hurt your time a lot. Add to the fact that the tire selection is limited to C.S. Try breaking early but smoothly, try to follow a steady line and then hammer the throttle progressively at the apex. That’s whay I did. Oh, and I use DS3, so if you’re using a wheel, you’ll probably be able to get a better time.
Also, avoid using the Evo X. That thing is still broken despite PD saying that they fixed it. Everytime you touch the steering wheel the power gets cut off for a second like if it had the ASM always on. Like mentioned in the previous post, I used the Evo 9 with around 480pp and 350hp.
@husky, I’ve been using the 07 evo x pp. I’ve been trying to adjust out the understeer. The first and last turns are the worst. I’ve been able to perfect the drift/power slide on most of the rest of the turns. The corkscrew is a blast in this car. I’m losing too much time to wheel spin once I get it pointed in the right direction. I will switch models and give it a go with your set up. Thanks for the informative reply.
@husky, adjusting the ballast made all the difference. It took out most if not all of the understeer. I don’t adjust that very often. I add weight all the time to make pp requirements. I never toyed with position that much. Huge improvement! Thanks for the tip.

Glad that I could help you. As a matter of fact, I’ve never really played around with the ballast thing until recently. I remember that in GT4 it didn’t make a difference at all so I didn’t bothered to mess around with it in GT5. But I’ve found that it does make a big deal of a difference in GT5.

After playing these events, i realised something that could improve the sad state of the engine sounds, if they added more “oomf” when bouncing on the limiter when reving, like the back firing and back pressure, Im not comparing so dont slander me.
Frostbite 2.0 (NFS The Run), have you heard the back firing??? its brutal! I hate the game but oh my gosh the “popping” and gear changes give it that “oomf” that would fix the GT5 sound and lack of sound.
An example: The Merc C63 AMG when changing gears in real life while giving it, sounds like a sledge hammer bashing a wall! Has that loud pop/bang. Stock by the way. And there plenty more, even the Golf R.
All that Im saying is V8’s V10’s and V12″s are MONSTERS wanting to be unleashed, and without that “oomf” It does no justice.
I cant see it being SUCH a big fix can it?

I agree. They’re always trying to give racing games a sense of speed, and I think great sound like in NFS titles would lift the game to a whole new level, and help achieve an epic sense of speed

Love the photo, now if someone did a video of them driving then in line drifting I will have seen one of my top dreams :). I hope PD keeps making these Seasonals much harder, the last A Spec 500 PP challenge was very nice. I had to drive the wheels off my car to win, mind you I use Sport Hards nothing grippier, in fact I use Sport hards for every race I race unless it’s a race car. Good times and fun times. Still PD we need a few things corrected like the weight distribution of the S7 is backward, no way in hell is that car front heavy. Anyway keep them coming PD.

if you keep biting other ppl, they eventually start calling you a ‘biter’. if you consistently say one thing and do another, ppl might eventually call you a liar.
if you create the expectation that you’ll release DLC roughly every 2 months (it’ll be 4 months on may 17th), ppl will anticipate it w/ bated breath and hold you to account if you fail to deliver. in DLC so far we got a few unique car models, one real track (spa) and a bunch of lazy cop outs. if you actually let the community create tracks (w/ a real track editor) and car models or even livery (let alone organize their own racing leagues) you’d see just how prolific they’d be…. but you don’t. you build us up just to let us down.

Or any one make races for that matter other than Ferrari and Lambo’s. That feature should be offered for every make model and type of car that is in GT5. Not just manufacturer, but the models tool.

Wonderful picture. PD does have a problem with car filters. The BMW 320i can not be entered into a Touring Car only race on-line. There are more issues. Like ground effect spoilers (front and rear) not being allowed in stock races on-line.
Even though those spoilers have zero affect on how the car performs. I’m talking about lip spoilers and rear defusers.
Either make them functional, or let them into the stock races please. They just make the cars look better they have no affect on handling.
PD does have A LOT of problems with car filters.

Ive always wanted to do a similar photo but with all the Nissan Skylines, but trying to organise it is so frustrating especially when everyone either turns up in tuned GT-Rs, GT-R touring cars, or the X2011 and just crash or keep running laps.
So I gave up and just called it a bad idea!

In Time Trial 35 500PP – Am I the only one who is prevented from using a Lancer Evolution IX GSR 05 (as bought from the Dealership)? The Entry Requirements say, that the car passes the PP and Tyre requirements but fails against the list of cars – despite being in that list? Am I going mad (and can’t see what I’ve done wrong) – or is this an undocumented feature?
Seriously these photos with the cars lined up on the banked turns are new to you, guys? In the Brazilian community of GT5 I participate, it is very common.

Chamonix – excellent, Evo class – excellent, Only two time trial events – not so excellent. But it’s something and I am grateful!

As best as I can remember, there’s always been just two events each for every Time Trial & Drift seasonal.
