Ive been trying to use the G3 lately. Im having farely good luck with it when using the stopping power perk with it. I use the red dot because i cant aim with the stock sights at all. It sucks cause i have to give up a perk to use it, oh well. Whats good about the G3 is that for one you don't waste ammo, and also it seems that when i use it and i miss or don't get a kill the person im shooting at doesn't seem to be able to tell where its coming from as fast as they do when im pumping at them with a M16. I like having my claymore though, with losing a perk i lose my claymores. I use the saw allot too, when combined with the double tap and a small stage that gun is a kill machine! :)

My favorite guns are two of the three you start with, the M16 and MP5.

Strongly agree 👍 as you may remember from the games you've played with me ceiling, our mp5s proved very effective in the sabotage 19 game streak :sly:

However for the best KILLING weapons, i'd say M16 is a strong competitor at medium to long range, short-mid range the P90 (its known as the 'noob' gun for a reason) although against many peoples 'Code of COD' is lethal weapon.

Saying this many people find a range of weapons very effective, like the G3 although technically its slightly more accurate single fire M16 (by stats), i find it very useful at long-mid range. Most skilled players will shine with any weapon of their specific style of play on COD though as getting a kill isnt a long process most of the time.

Well said sir. I do pretty well with any weapon as long as it fits the stage im on. You can't just grab a shotgun and run onto a map like creek and expect to do well...lol. But if i have a weapon that suits the map it really doesn't matter which one i have, i usually get about the same amount of kills. One thing that really, really bothers me about COD4 is the way it ranks you at the end of the match. When i first started playing i tried to stay cool and get kills but also keep my deaths at minimum, just as if it were a real life simulation kind of. But as i played the game more i noticed that the amounts of deaths you had didn't effect the place you finished at the end of the map. I noticed this when i had about 17 kills and about 4 deaths, and the guy that finished first had 25 kills and like 30 deaths. I was like WTF!? This is really dumb, you just run out there guns blazing of course you will get more kills, but your deaths will also be higher. This bugs the hell out of me because i came from playing delta force on pc and in DF the amount of deaths you have plays a factor also. Does this bother anyone else?

Runs fine to me, ignore points think more on a team point of view.

Every death you have gives the enemy 10 points or gave them a whole to move through your teams defence. Then every kill obviously benefits your own, I see 12 kills and 1 death as a plus 11 contribution and a 25-30 as a minus 5 then if you get say 12-1 and 35-24, both are plus 11 but personally i see 12-1 as a much better job, as its enough to annoy the other team with that player being constantly avoiding them.

Never judge a player by their rank.

Silenced P90 is my baby. Too bad I lost it when I went prestige.

I have been trying the G-Shot for a while now and I got 27 kills on pipeline with it. Not really as bad as some think if you get used to a .50cal with rds, you just need to have steady aim and possibly stoping power to make 1 shot 1 kill. You do need to be onstantly moving to make it work though.

M4 Carbine is my thing with double tap and then a Desert Eagle as my secondary makes for a deadly weapon combination both effective at medium-kind of long and close.

M4 Carbine Silenced - TD
MP5 Silenceed - S&D on small maps, M4 Silenced S&D med-big maps.
Skorpion ACOG + Bandolier / M4 ACOG + Bandolier - Domination
Scorpion ACOG + M4 ACOG (Overkill) - HQ

S&D Kit
Silenced M4, Desert Eagle
Claymore x 2
Stopping Power / UAV Jammer
Steady Aim / Last Stand

I use UAV Jammer if... the enemy has a UAV. I was only using Last Stand because with double XP over the weekend, you get 200XP per kill with it.

TD/HQ Kits
M16 w/ RDS, Deagle
Frag x 3
Stopping Power
Steady Aim

or

Silenced MP5, Deagle
Frag x 3
Stopping Power
Steady Aim / Extreme Conditioning / Dead Silence

HC kits
Same as above but silenced and with UAV Jammer

or

Silenced M4
Frag x 3
UAV Jammer
Steady Aim

Sabotage Kits
Silenced MP5 or Silenced AK-74u
Frag x 3
Stopping Power
Extreme Conditioning / Martyrdom (sue me.)

Extreme conditioning is great when you have the bomb and are getting it as far away from the enemy objective as possible.

Shipment Kit
P90 w/ RDS
Frag x 3
Stopping Power / Double Tap
Martyrdom

Snipe Kit
M40A3/M21/Dragunov
Stun x 3 (great when someone sneaks up on you. They can be thrown fast, giving you enough time to knife the would-be assassin. ;))
Stopping Power
Iron Lungs

I may use Bandolier with the M21 because the low recoil makes it button-mash friendly. ;)

That's it for the most part.

Well, right now mine all go along with the new maps:

Broadcast
P90 + RDS + Deagle + Bandolier + Double Tap (Laser Much?) + Last Stand
or
M14 + Silencer + Deagle + 3x Frag (If you are on the Opfor you can run up to the roof, get behind one of the air conditioners, chuck a frag, then a flashbang, then a cooked frag, always gets a kill.) + Stopping Power + Deep Impact (Useful for getting those snipers on the second floor of the balcony)

Creek:
M21 + M14 (w/ Silencer) (Overkill) + Bandolier + Dead Silence (It actually does help quite a lot when running around with an M14 in the sniper spots)

Chinatown:
M14 (w/ Silencer) + P90 (w/ RDS) (Overkill) + Bandolier + Deep Impact

And no, I don't use any type of sight on the M14 (Except for Iron Sights), as it only made me worse at shooting.

From,
Chris.

I benefited with the RDS, though the sharp recoil makes it a bit difficult to use.

Well, my problem is using it like a G3, and shooting constantly, although I'm getting real good with it close up, something I never did with the G3.

Edit: Is the double XP over yet? it was going on all day yesterday, so it went a day over what it was supposed to.

Double Edit: Nevermind, Fourzerotwo posted, and it's extended till Wed.

From,
Chris.

ACOG or RDS? I find ACOG to be useless.

The ACOG is very fussy on what you fit it too, most guns suffer with it fitted in quite a big way, a small number however are great with it.

An M16 + ACOG combo is still my favourite in the game, making it a great mid-range sniper rifle, but still fine for most close work.

The ACOG is also pretty pointless with most SMGs, shorter Assault rifles and the LMGs; but for a small number of guns it does work well, the G3 is another good ACOG match.

i started silencing my M16 and found it highly successful now im using iron sights always, sometimes with UAV jammer, sometimes not, either way it's just that little bit better then the same with an RDS if you can use the iron sights you lose zero accuracy and gain a more covert weapon.

I also now almost always use overkill on hardcore, with a silenced MP5 and silenced M16/G3, with bandolier as i'm often alive for a long time using the M16 until a building needs clearing. Steady aim helps to when it comes to those indoor situations, or dead silence.

M14 with silencer is the worst combination in the game possible to me. The iron sight alone is extremely hard to use, and it silenced makes it weaker than it is. The RDS made it from a useless gun to one of the most powerful I've ever used. Plus, with Steady Aim, close up combat its almost unpassable.

My current setups are...

USP with all setups

Long-mid Range:

M16 RDS / 3 Frag (Stun) / Stopping Power / Deep Impact. If you can aim well with it I don't think there's a more reliable gun for mid range (sometimes longer range). Just shooting from the hip with it is too unreliable sometimes.

Medium Range:

AK47 no attachment / 3 Frag (Stun) / Stopping Power / Deep Impact, sometimes Steady Aim. Although it has a slower rate of fire so you're more likely to miss if someone is running across screen, I find the AK is the best out of the automatic rifles for killing people quickly. I have no RDS because I tend to pin-point shots a bit better at mid-range without it. Plus I think it has slightly less recoil.

Close Range:

MP5 no attachment / 3 Frag (Stun) / Stopping Power / Martrydom. I used to use the P90 but I'm using the MP5 currently for headshots. Close range from the hip the Scorpion or Mini-Uzi kills a tad quicker, but the Scoprion in particular has a very short clip so after a kill, or even two if you're lucky, you need to reload. The MP5 lasts a while longer. I use no attachment because I find the RDS gets in the way a bit and makes me miss. I only use it on very close range maps like Vacant and Shipment.

Custom:

G3 RDS / 3 Frag (Stun) / Stopping Power / Steady Aim. This is my slot just for cycling through the challenges. The G3 is a very good gun, but after using the M14 for so long I actually prefer the M14 (which I thought wasn't possible). With Steady Aim I find its effects aren't much improved over standard aim, so I may change it to something else. Still, little recoil makes it easy to fire very quick and kill at mid to long range, unlike the M14 where you have to controll the rate of your shots.

Stealth:

M4 Carbine Silencer / 3 Frag (Stun) / Stopping Power (sometimes UAV Jammer) / Deep Impact. I've not used this setup for a month now - I've just seen no immediate need for it, so I may replace it soon. It takes way too long to kill someone with UAV Jammer, so I tend to use the Stopping Power more. The silenced AK47 is more powerful, but past mid range the shots don't seem to hit anyone which irks me quite a bit.

I MUCH prefer RDS over ACOG. ACOG I find sways too much while zoomed in, whereas RDS with most guns (very much so with M16) stays very stable, doing shots at distances even ACOG would find difficult. :)

Agreed, RDS>Acog, i prefer using an iron sight though where possible, just basically won my team a game in S&D with irons on my M16SD and an R700 sometimes on defence on Crash. 16-3 which isnt bad as it was a 4-3 game so not a walkover, you can guess why the 3 rounds were dropped on my team *cough*.
Just when you think its a losing game that one grenade in the tiebreaker at the start whipes out two of them and the rest was a mop up once i got the UAV down soon after.

This is a fairly good camping spot for sniping on Creek. It's hard to tell where it is, but look at the location on the map. There's a rock you can jump onto, and then get into prone and look over the edge. You must get into prone quick though overwise they'll see you. I've been using it for all of today and have only been shot once:

Plus, I've now got this beauty... :)

Ah yes, that rock, that rock I love to run onto with an M14 and create some "WTF" moments :sly:

Also, How long did it take anyone to figure out what the heck that bar on the bottom of the screen was for? It took me forever, I was thinking it was my health bar for the longest time :p

Chris.

It took me a while to even acknowledge it's existence.

G.T: Take your gold AK to Domination B in Chinatown. The lighting there makes gold weapons look AWESOME. And take a picture. Trust me.

edit:

56 kills, 20 something deaths, and look at the match bonus!

4444

Wow, big bonus.

I didn't realise you've progressed so much with you rank either. I presume the double XP is helping? 👍

Double XP + Playing a lot = high rank. :dopey:

I'm rank 4 8th Prestige. Was really pissed because my first (and only) match was Variety Pack HQ at Broadcast, and my team did awful. I had 25:23 with the SAW but my team lost 250-30. If my team won I would've had 500 points just from the HQ being captured (Double XP.) I wound up about 50 points under rank 5, actually worse than the last few "first matches" even though there was double XP. I think I'm going to go for the gold Uzi, or maybe Overkill a Gold Uzi and AK. :D Too bad none of my favorite weapons from each class have the gold skin (besides the shotgun, though I almost never use it anyway.)

About the match bonus, it was a Sabotage game that didn't end so there was sudden death, I killed four of the six guys. :D Funny because they defused the bomb with about a second to spare early on in the match. My previous highest match bonus in a Sabotage match was 602, after a similar situation at Downpour.

In other news, I would of beat my kill streak if a match didn't end. I got a 7 kill streak but there was already a friendly chopper and I died. After I respawned I got six kills, waited, called my chopper, got another kill so I had a chopper in the air with another in the queue. I had 18 kills and I didn't get a chance to call the second one. :indiff:

Good games last night btw ceiling, i wasn't great in S&D but i had my moments.

Not to mention the countdown game we finished on, you can tell i snipe alot when i pulled a 19 streak as soon as i pulled my R700 out to end up finishing on 33-6.

In other cod news I've now started using a G36CSD and MP5SD for hardcore games (overkill). I find the G36C a good choice in hardcore due to the high accuracy and friendly iron sight. I also picked up this weapon in a normal game of HQ and found it highly effective with the silencer. Thats why i leveled mine up, i think i'm going to unlock all the attachments for many weapons next so i have more choice, although i always go back to MP5, M16, R700 in each class, never use the others really but i have an M60 + grip for those rambo moments.
