Super License . S5 with the Super Yaris. I can easily get Bronze.... scratching within less of a sec of Silver.. but seems very far from Gold.

I've always struggle with Rally racing. Any tips?

..
The last update broke all of the Rally challenges (including circuit experience) that provide you with the car.. instead of dirt tires, you get racing hard tires! This was posted on their latest list of 'known issues' :banghead:

Important Announcement

As we all know, GT7 is upon us.

SNAIL will not be conducting a traditional season during the month of March.

The month of March will be used as a roster building and testing month for the transition to GT7.

There will be no official Sunday night racing on March 6th.

March 13th, 20th, and 27th will serve as testing nights for GT7, the SNAIL format, and a form of stress test for number of drivers in the lobby.

The calendar will be updated to reflect this and we will return to our regular schedule for the first night of the April season.

There will be a time trial that will have to be submitted for GT7. All currently active, on the drivers list, will be included in a conversation with a link to the time trial instructions. The time trial will open on March 7th. If you wish to participate in the first test night, your time trial will need to be submitted no later than 11:59 PM ET on March 12th.

Any new members will need to follow the existing registration process to join.
That announcement was rendered inaccurate with the release of GT7 and it's lobbies that don't really allow you to do anything.

A partial list of the issues that we are confronted with are:

1. No settings can be changed once the lobby is opened. This means the only way to go from one combo to the next would be to close the lobby and create a new one.
2. Lobby setting can't be saved and loaded quickly. This just makes issue #1 worse as it takes more time to get it done.
3. It has been reported that the only way to get tuning prohibited is to turn on BoP. This requires further testing to confirm and / or determine exactly how it works.

This is just the beginning of the issues that we are currently faced with.

The BoD is currently hashing out the details for a GT7 time trial.
The March 13th official test night will not be an official test night. There may be something put together but we just don't have the lobby tools at this time to run our regular fromat.
Everything else that was announced as a path to GT7 is up in the air right now.

If anyone has any suggestions that could be of help for any of these situations, please feel free to post here or contact any member of the BoD with your suggestions.

The hope is that there is an update coming soon that will at least give us what we had in GTSport. That is only hope at this point and we all know how slowly PD can take to act on anything.

I was wondering why i am having such a hard time with the rally challenge in S5. Even on controller, i would have no issue getting gold on rally.

Its a shame that PD deliberately broke the online multiplayer. I mean how hard could it be to atleast just get the same thing that we had with Sport, a 4 year old PS4 game. Unfortunately, I don't see a solution with the current state of lobbies.

They are not making it easy for the league like us, maybe they will sell us working multiplayer as a DLC in a couple of weeks. 😂

In all seriousness, we have to be patient, thanks again for all your hard work in keeping this awesome league going.

Sidenote, I just wanted to say that I golded S-10, pretty sure that the 917K doesnt lift off oversteer that much in real life because there wouldn't be any old race car left intact. The 2 fast corners before the final chicane at Spa are so frustrating, I gave up and turned ASM and Countersteer assists, managed a 2'24 at last.

EDIT: maybe we could go back on GT Sport for the time being ? No need for a new qualifier, we just run our races as usual on Sport until GT7 is functional for our needs. Just an idea here, nothing serious.

JL, I noted in the GT3 thread yesterday, that I’m also experiencing issues with transmission selection while in lobbies, whether it’s created by myself, or one that I have joined. Even if MT is selected, my car defaults to AT once I leave the pit. Once on track and in the pause screen, I have to select AT before going back to MT. If I leave the track my settings default back to automatic. I have heard nothing of this problem with anyone else.

Has anyone else found this a problem, or have a resolve?

Kindly,
Harry

Ok.. I thought I really sucked.. well.. then I don't suck as much. Has anyone done the Formula at Laguna Seca yet?

Historical experience suggests to me that PD might get lobbies fixed on the 3rd try. So later this summer. But I’m not tracking any other threads or news so maybe they are actively working on a real solution. I would be shocked.

Given just how broken things are at the moment I’m ready to go back to GT sport for snail lobby races. We could start on Sunday if the BoD picked a set of combos for us to start off a March season. I guess I’m assuming PD is still supporting GTS lobbies?

I’ll be coming back to GT7 when I want some pretty scenery with changeable weather. Or doing some BoP tuning to the extent possible with @llNovall and his entourage.

You think it’s producing less smoke? I did some donuts after the patch today in a M3 with SS tires, and I was covered in a dense cloud of smoke, just as much as before. I don’t think they changed anything, they even released a long list of patch notes and nothing about smoke was mentioned. Maybe you have a harder compound equipped there? I also know that the smoke model GT7 takes into account other factors like weather, temp, compound, type of asphalt, etc to reproduce more realistic smoke effects.
That video I posted wasn't mine and I haven't been on the game post update to see for myself. All I know is, one of the first things I noticed when I first fired up GT7 was the smoke being MUCH more thick and heavy. My screen would be completely white while doing donuts which I never experienced in Sport. The video looks more like Sport's smoke. I'll have another go at it tonight and see for myself if there's a difference. But I've read reports that they did in fact change it even if they didn't announce it in the patch notes. PD will do that from time to time and I remember a thread up in the Sport section titled "Undocumented changes" or something to that effect.

Yeah I just don't get it either. I know Covid shook up the world in a lot of different ways so maybe that has something to do with it. It's still going to be hard to justify removing such basic features when we've got stuff like Music Rally now

Come on.. who doesn't pay almost a Benji for a playable Beta ?
I am hopeful that they will address these issues zoon zoon Zoon!

I wish Polyphony Digital …
I hope Sony …
I wish Kazunori Yamauchi …
I hope the next update …
I wish GT8 fixes this …

Welcome to SNAIL
From our humble beginnings, SNAIL (aka Sunday Night American Interactive League) is now the largest console-based sim racing league in the world. Our mission is to provide our members with clean, intense, and competitive racing - regardless of skill level! We believe that providing full grids of evenly-matched competitions is the most realistic way to race, improve skill, and refine racecraft! Our league night is Sunday at 9:30pm Eastern / 6:30pm Pacific, but we also have a a wide variety of other events held on other nights of the week. If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, please keep reading to learn more about us and how to join.

What Makes Us Different
SNAIL is the only sim racing league in the world that's able to combine five key features into one consolidated package. First of all, we provide you with evenly-matched competition to drivers of all skill levels. In fact, the intense level of competition that we produce has established SNAIL as the "go to" place to prepare for GT Academy. And if you want to keep track of your improvement along the way, you'll be glad to know that we keep the most comprehensive race data available on GTPlanet. We also feature an interactive process that allows all of our members to have a say in which cars and tracks we race. And last but not least, we're the only league that awards our members with valuable prizes just for racing with us!

Evenly-Matched Competition
Have you ever watched a professional race where drivers with completely different skill levels were competing on the same track? Of course not! That wouldn't be fun to watch, let alone fun to participate in. Unfortunately, that disparity of pace is something you'll often find in organized online racing. When this happens, you'll be lucky to have just a few drivers that you're truly competitive with. Everyone else will usually either be faster or slower than you. We prevent that from happening in SNAIL by dividing our drivers into separate divisions based on speed and skill. This results in full grids of evenly-matched competition and creates the closest and most intense sim racing experience around!

Prepare for GT Academy
If you'd like to compete in GT Academy, there's no better place than SNAIL to hone your skills to the elite levels necessary to make it to the finals. You need to be the best of the best to make it to Silverstone, and that's exactly what the drivers in our top division are. Half of last year's and half of this year's Silverstone Finalists have raced in SNAIL. And since our race format (which features multiple sprint races) is almost identical to the format used at the GT Academy national finals, they were able to use their SNAIL experience to help them advance to Silverstone. Click here if you want to advice from last year's eventual champion and click here if you want advice from last year's runner-up.

Valuable Prizes
Have you ever wished you could win free stuff just for having fun? If so, then you might want to know that our members win valuable real-world prizes just for racing with us! These prize are based on participation and not on race results. Some examples of prizes our members have won include GranStand sim racing products like this, this and this, ButtKicker products like a Gamer2 and a Wireless ButtKicker Kit. You can also join Team SNAIL and earn even more prizes, such as shirts (e.g. S.N.A.I.L. shirt, F1 shirt, GT Academy shirt), video capture devices (e.g. Hauppauge PVR), sim racing equipment (e.g. Playseat Evolution), and even gift cards (e.g. Amazon and PSN).

Spec Racing
SNAIL has always been a one-make series, but when we decided to prohibit tuning in all of our races, we became the first "spec" racing league on GTPlanet. Spec racing ensures that success is determined primarily by driving skill and not by differences in power, gearing, suspension, weight, or aerodynamics. Because variables in the car are eliminated, spec racing is the truest measure of driver skill! It also produces intense battles for position because all of the cars are equally strong or weak in the same areas of the track. Plus, you'll never spend hours tuning cars or wondering if someone is truly faster than you or if they just have a better tune.

Race Format
Our league night lasts for two hours and is split into three rounds. Each round consists of two races that last 10 to 12 minutes on a predetermined car and track combo. At the beginning of each round, a brief qualifying session determines the order of the starting grid. The first race is set to 'Fastest First' to reward the best qualifiers and the second race is set to 'Reverse Grid' in order to promote on-track action. Points are awarded based on our "perfect" points system. After a round is completed, we move on to the next round and repeat the same process with the next car and track combination. Once all three rounds are complete, we tally up the points and then let our interactive format kick in.

Interactive Participation
Our unique format allows everyone to have a say on which cars and tracks we race. It's also used to strike a balance between familiarity and variety of our car and track combos. In other words, the progression of cars and tracks that we race is slow enough for us to learn them well, but fast enough that they don't get "old". At the end of every league night, everyone votes on which car and track combo they enjoyed the least. The combo that receives the most "elimination votes" is dropped from the next week's lineup entirely. The combo that receives the second most votes is also dropped, but only partially. This is where our prizes come into play:

Prizes
A prize is awarded to the divisions winners with the three highest scores*. The division winner with the highest score gets Prize A. The division winner with the second highest score gets Prize B. The division winner with the third highest score gets Prize C: (NOTE: We now have a new process for breaking ties in the elimination vote)
Prize A: The right to select the new car and track combo to replace the combo that was voted off
Prize B: The right to replace either the car or the track of the combo that received the second most votes
Prize C: The right to "freeze" either the car or the track of the combo that received the second most votes

Promotion and Relegation
Although we split our drivers into separate divisions based on performance and skill level, we realize that our drivers are constantly improving and deserve a chance to climb the ladder of success. That's why we promote and relegate drivers before every season based on the results and data compiled during the previous season. This is also done to ensure that our races are as competitive as possible for all of our league members, top to bottom. Regardless of which division you're in, you will almost always be fighting to gain or defend a position on the track. Simply put, no other Gran Turismo league in the world can offer this much competitive racing to so many different skill levels.

Comprehensive Race Data
It's not always accurate to promote and relegate drivers based on championship points alone. That's why the massive amounts of data we track are invaluable to our league. You'd be hard-pressed to find a sim racing league anywhere in the world that tracks driver data and race results more comprehensively than we do. In fact, our SNAIL Data document contains so much information that we have to archive old data to avoid exceeding the GoogleDoc's maximum capacity! You can use this data to track the points championship for each season and compare yourself to other drivers in categories such as fast laps, total race pace, total points, average points per race, and power rankings.

Rules
We expect all drivers to follow our OLR Rules and pursue good racecraft at all times. If you're not sure what good racecraft is, watch this video. It can be summed up in one simple 'Golden Rule' of motorsports: It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free. If you don't agree with this rule or don't think it applies to you, this is not the league for you. If you ever feel like a driver is not following the rules, please wait until league night is over, then file a Racing Incident Report. Our Stewards will review the incident and issue the appropriate penalties.

@GeeRobb100

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!

Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add zer05ive, JLBowler, nmcp1, Rednose58, MajorBlixem, SAMHAIN85, llNovall & Akzl298
as participants.

The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Here are the GT5 combinations from SNAIL 10 years ago. I recommend we use them for the first official Sunday we start GT7.
March 25, 2012
Amuse NISMO 380RS Super Leggera @ Daytona Road Course
April 1, 2012
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) '06 @ Trial Mountain Circuit / Reverse
Honda S2000 '06 @ Deep Forest Raceway / Reverse

My first SNAIL Sunday was 4/1/12 so this would be extremely nostalgic.

Another physics flaw: the lift off oversteer with mid engined GT3 car is awful. Currently doing the Circuit Experience at Catalunya with the Huracan GT3, it is borderline undriveable without stability control. Compared to the same car and the same track in ACC, it is night and day. Seriously the new physics are totally broken and people defend it because they associate hard to drive to realism.

Rant off/

Just did the 30 lap race at Tsukuba, what a great experience, starting at noon with a clear blue sky, going to a dark gray sky and heavy rain and finishing late afternoon with a sunset and the racing line drying. Random weather in our future league races would be so awesome.

Am I the only one that thinks that the career mode was too short and that PD underutilized their content ?

Finished Menu 39 last night…glad that is over…I saw that Pigems was having good success with lobbies up to 12 drivers. I asked if there anything different, he said he was running them just like in GTS.

I did get a response from another person who mentioned that there is a known bug if a driver in lobby can’t see one of the other drivers that person will get kicked from the lobby.

What do you know, roulette is a crap shoot...wait, craps is a crap shoot, roulette is a spin of the wheel. 😁 While the free spins can be a bit stingy I was lucky yesterday and snagged 2 spins for 5 gold bars each, $1,000,000 total. But, I don't get many cars so I have to spend credits.

Are the combos posted yet?

;):dopey::rolleyes:
We can’t race on GT7 yet, the lobbies are broken.

Hell even the dailies are too. The new Race C, I’m hitting 260-270 km/h on the final straight and the top driver is at 320 km/h. Its a no tuning BoP Gr.3 race and people are already bypassing the rules.

If anyone is having a problem getting gold with S7 License test in GT7 with the Super Formula Honda '19 at Laguna, i uploaded a replay and i got 1:06.803 time. The only assist i had on were ABS on weak with No other assists on. I use a controller and i used left analog stick for steering, X for acceleration, Square for braking and the controller settings i used were Controller Steering Sensitivity set to 7. Force feedback max torque set to 10. Force feedback sensitivity set to 10. Driver line assist i had on were Driver Markers. The tags i used for the Replay were as followed.

1. Lap
2. Time
3. Record

Edit: Uploaded Replay of license S10. Got a gold time of 2:25.007. Same controller settings, was hell of a license to conquer. I forgotten which tags i used for the replay to license S10 but should be able to find it searching under the nickname RacingChamp30

More grinding part 3

I know that feeling all too well...grinding through Ferrari Menu last night, found that the if I softened the rear damping and break bias to the front helped settle the car to being drivable...also buying the ballast helps, move it to the rear.

I really hope they fix multiplayer, there’s lots of series including Snail that use Gran Turismo as a platform and I’m baffled how GT7 does not have atleast minimum of
What we had in sport, two weeks no racing Sunday evening I feel lost lol.

I’m enjoying lots of GT7 especially Trial mountain, enjoying more cars and my opinion better weather/rain

I’m almost done with Campaign so most of us want a working Multiplayer, and for me Spec racing and not worry too much if I’m beat by someone else who has better tune.

Do love the tuning series Nova has but their longer races and not every week.

$5.99 a gallon. But got .10c off for using my grocery reward points. Big whoop

I guess the days I heard as a kid where you could dump a pocket full of change on the counter at the gas station and fill up your tank are long long gone.
