I've heard most of the British media (including Martin Brundle) had immediately accused Alonso of breaking on purpose.

Well... Now you guys understand why the Spanish media was (and still is) so idiotic and Alonso-centered. It sucks, doesn't it?

Dude, we acknowlege that ITV bum Lewis to the point of tears, hence why we're hoping and praying the BBC will realise the other 21 drivers on the grid. But don't post replies as if we all hate Fernando.

This weekends coverage was excellent, each one of the drivers were showcased throughout the entire race, from Massa pulling away to Nando fighting for 9th. Each weekend should have coverage such as the one we saw this weekend. As far as the results Massa victory was excpected, i mean after all he was lapping almost a second quicker than anyone during practice and quali's.

Each team and driver has my profound respect (especially Lewis, Kimi, and Jenson) but my driver is Alonso and always has been due to my spanish heritage, and his performance has been nothing short of great. Even amidst the hard fought battles he has endured against the mid field pack, he hasnt trashed the car or anyone else's for that matter, and at the end of the year Nando will be a a much better driver, i believe he can be just as great as "the great one" if he were ever to adorn the red suit....only time will tell..

I don't! Just want you to know some of us share your pain. We have TeleAlonso, you have HTV (H stands for Hamilton), and if we turn the sound off, we're watching F1. Turn it on, and it's all fanboyism. :yuck:

That's why Speed does the best presentation. We don't have any of our countrymen in the sport.

After looking at the video, maybe Alonso did refrain from accelerating out of the corner as quick as he could've. It's definitely clear that he was slower then Hamilton coming out of the corner. They do have something between them so it could be a rivalry issue. The blame for that is 50/50.

I don't think Hamilton was paying enough attention, he could've easily swerved right to avoid Alonso's tire.

And when we did, he beat up his team manager.

+1 for SPEED. They don't show any clear favorites, and the more senile David Hobbs goes, the funnier he gets.

I've found that most tracks that are also grounds for testing turn out the most boring races... Monza, Bahrain, Barcelona. Inevitably, these and the other tracks where overtaking is hard will make for boring GPs, whenever there's not much crashing :indiff:
Monza? Boring? That is just a big understatement. Monza has always been one of the better GP on the calendar. Being a high speed circuit with chicanes to slow down the cars (lets not forget Hamilton's dive on Kimi ) So other than that, Bahrain and Barcelona is pretty much boring (and Istambul as well) ......
That was 2002 ;)

Remember when Sato went straight at Austria that year, and crashed into one of the Saubers? Now that looked pretty bad :scared:

That ain't bad. What about Burti crashing into the back of Schumacher's car in Hockenheim back in 2001?

(yeah, its nobodys fault. But still, if Hamilton was a few MPH faster, that could very easily happen.... :scared:

Thank god I don't have ITV or any of those TV coverage. Star Sports is the best channel to watch F1 in South East Asia! :D
Steve Slater & Chris Goodwin FTW!!!! 👍

A little boring, yes. But full of precious moments you'll miss if you don't pay attention. Hamilton destroying a car in practice, fouling up race start, 'fist-pumping' Fisi in frustration ( or was it the finger? ), and the last act of impatience, ramming FA. He had a very expensive weekend. Alonso showed heroic fighting spirit in a less than healthy car. I felt his pain when he couldn't overtake Glock, if the Régie can't provide him a CAR they don't deserve to keep him. That a RBR can beat him ( Webber ) makes it plain, Renault/ Pat Symonds need to pull their head from their ass. Rock on 'Nando'. McLaren really seem to be slipping overall... I wonder why? Good job BMW. How boring would it be without them sticking their nose in the action when Fernando Alonso cannot?

Looking at the video of the Alonso/Hamilton clash it is clear that Lewis had a better drive out of turn 2/3, they both moved to the right too. Certainly not Alonso's fault having looked at that with a bit more detail.

RE: Hock video.

"It's enormously sharp" Allen in reference to the debris shards. What a tit!

VMM are now claiming "aerodynamic failure" of front wing bridge... for sudden rush of acceleration.

The blame for that is entirely Hamiltons. Look at post 135. Renault have shown Alonso's telemetry to the press. His throttle position was at 100% from the corner exit, and the brakes weren't touched.

Good race. Really enjoyed seeing Kimi and Massa trade fastest laps in the second stint. Ferrari really had all the answers this weekend and Massa had the edge over Kimi, but Kimi still pushed him quite hard at times.

BMW were really impressive. Nick sliced through the field and Robert had a solid pace throughout, he kinda caught Ferrari sleeping in the final stint where he was lapping a second faster than the red cars when they thought the race was sewn up. I found that quite entertaining.

McLaren were nowhere, but you can’t expect them not to bounce back soon. Heikki was reasonable and Hamilton had a rotten start and couldn’t make much of it after that.

Trulli continues to shine with the TF108, very much overshadowing Glock as I expected. I don’t know why people expected him to lead Toyota’s cause…

Webber had a solid race, while Rosberg was disappointing. What happened to the pace Williams had for the rest of the weekend?

Alonso was decent. He did well with a pretty broken car.

The DC v Button crash was retarded, but neither of them could do a whole lot.

Anyway, good weekend. The championships are looking very interesting indeed.

There thinking... damn we should have are car setup like that all the time! :sly:

I could see from the video that Alonso didnt lift off..... it is very possible with a slipstream and sudden lack of downforce slowing the car (as suggested by the failure) that he would suddenly speed up..

Anyone see a pattern here?

Lewis misjudges his speed while entering the pits in China on horribly worn tyres -> McLaren say it's their fault.

Lewis' car loses drive for about 30 seconds in Brazil, some say because of him accidentally engaging the pitlane speedlimiter -> McLaren say it's their fault

Lewis runs in to the back of Alonso while in a slipstream -> McLaren say the frontwing "broke"

I'm not saying that those things couldn't have happened, but pobody's nerfect.

Slightly dull at the front, but a tense finish with the BMWs catching up as the Ferraris relaxed... When was the last time we saw a race with three retirements only, no safety-cars, and the top-four crossing the finish line one after the other?

Tough luck for Alonso in the damaged car, and Piquet seemed to have some proper pace - sadly, a spin in the early laps sent him too far back, and a retirement at the end...

They're suprisingly good, a lot of rubbing and sideways action. Much better entertainment than the GP Masters IMO.

That's like saying a massage is better than getting kicked in the nuts. :p

GP Masters and Formula Masters make for the most uninteresting races ever.

Lewis noooooo:(. And it had to be Alonso again:grumpy:

It had to be Alonso because he was the one immediately in front of Hamilton, and the one Hamilton chose to accelerate into. His fault, really. And he was lucky to get off with just a broken wing - he could easily have broken major suspension-components, or worse, a backflip. A few more degrees, and his angle of attack would've been enough to flip him backwards into the field accelerating from behind.

Might as well have a look at Alonso, if he did lift/tap the brakes in a corner where all cars should be on the throttle then it was effectively causing an unavoidable accident. That said Hamilton probably could've done with being a little further away, but at the same time heavy or not, I didn't recall seeing any other cars catch up so quickly to the back of Alonso like that on the first few laps...

He was in a pack of seven cars. Lewis accelerated as if nobody was there, while Alonso was sandwiched between two cars. If it's o

But again, is it me or whenever Ferrari dominates the weekend, the race is pretty dull...... I practically just stupefied by this. :dunce:

Yeah, I find Ferrari's wins are usually far too decisive, and I keep losing interest in the races. And exactly that is usually the time they decide to show Massa lapping someone or Raikkonen driving around doing nothing, when in the midfield, Glock is driving with his nose literally in Rosberg's arse.

Bet if it was vice versa it'd all be Hamilton's fault.

Depending on the network broadcasting it. German broadcasters RTL blamed Coulthard for Vettel's retirement before they had a chance to speak with either, or see a video of it.

However, I can see their consistency getting them a sweet spot in the constructors championship though 👍

The lead for now, to be exact ;)👍

That's why Speed does the best presentation. We don't have any of our countrymen in the sport.

RTL should take the cup. The 6 Germans on the grid make up such a majority, that everyone else is considered as well :p

The DC v Button crash was retarded, but neither of them could do a whole lot.

It's an interesting crash. While DC closed the door a little early, Melbourne-style, Jenson isn't faultless as well, having entered the turn on the kerbs with the locked rear tyres. Would've been a great pass had it worked...

I think its just new driver error with Hamilton.... yeah and don't say oh he's been racing since he was like 5 because F1 is F1.... he is bound to make mistakes like everyone else its just that people don't expect him to because of his talent.

Im really starting to think that Alonso is his Kryptonite, the minute Hamilton sees him he just looses all skill and overcooks it...

Im glad to see the season is going so unpredictably... makes for far more interesting viewing and races..

Goes the other way as well, judging by last year's Canadian race :p

True very true.... they need to stay as far away as possible from each other!

I still think Alonso has gone and hung that rear wing in his bedroom as a war trophy! :sly:

I think he'll paint his rearwing from now on, making it look kind of broken... Just to show it off as a war scar. :D

Alonso wasn't to blame, but it seems neither was Hamilton for the most part

However, according to the newspaper, an aerodynamic failure on the front wing of Hamilton's MP4-23 car moments before the coming together was to blame.

'It subsequently emerged that the aerodynamic "bridge" connecting the two sides of the front wing across the nose of the McLaren had failed a couple of seconds before he plunged into the back of the Spaniard,' it reported.

'That gave Hamilton a fleeting rush of acceleration which carried him into his collision.'

What source is that from Spike because it sounds like utter nonsense.

I've heard it somewhere else too, although I can't find the source... It sounds like the nth attempt from McLaren to make it look like it was their fault, and not perfect Hamilton's.

Unless it got a knock in the first corner mêlée. He wouldn't be the only one, either - Sutil needed a new front wing, there were punctures for Button and Coulthard, and Vettel had to retire his wounded car.

It still doesn't detract from the fact that Hamilton seems to lose his head when he falls out of the top 5.

Sounds like rubbish to me, personally - while the front wing certainly could've fallen off, the result wouldn't have been a "sudden acceleration". At least not forward - perhaps upwards when the underbody hits the wing, which would've left him with more than enough time to react to it.

And even then, it's not like his brakes failed - he could still have swerved or braked.

Also, his driving after he lost the wing was horrendous. If he lacked front downforce so much (or rather, completely lost any of it), he should either have slowed down to stay on the track (and preferably off the racing-line), or taken it slowly around the outside on Bahrain's oh-so-large runoffs back into the pits. The way he powered back onto the track was completely unsafe.

And even then, it's not like his brakes failed - he could still have swerved or braked.

Im sorry but I dont think theres anything he could have done. He did swerve hence why he was lifted by Alonso's rear. Its easy for us to sit here and say he could have done more. I know I couldn't be doing 140Mph+, while changing gear, coming out of a corner and expect to be that much faster than the car infront.

No one expected that to happen. Not even Alonso it seems. No one was to blame. It happens.

BBC
McLaren F1 chief executive officer Martin Whitmarsh said the team's on-board computer data showed that Hamilton's car had lost part of its front wing two seconds before the collision.

Whitmarsh said the wing's "structure may have been weakened by previous contact" - and Alonso said Hamilton had hit him up the rear on the first lap of the race.

It looks like both teams have data to prove that no one was to blame. Can we move on now?

Although it seems it was more likely to be Lewis' fault, It's simple human nature to find reason. One of the supermods once explained it in a Opinions thread: 'grog went into the woods and came back with one arm'. Humans do not sit there and say, oh Hi Grog, its 'What happened to your arm grog who did it how did it happen and at what time?

[/major tangent]

It was a racing incident, no one should really be blamed.

What's with all this boring stuff? I think this is shaping up to be a great season. All the races so far have been below average on the boring scale.

BTW, did anybody notice that Fisichella is actually doing pretty well at Force India?
