One observation from FP2: Is it me or does the DRS zone seem pretty short compared to other tracks? I have a feeling there may not be too much passing if Singapore is a dry race...

It's the layout of the track that lends itself to having a somewhat short DRS zone. It's also a bit odd that the beginning of the DRS zone is in the exit of the turn.

Vettel quickest in 2nd practice; Button had incident and loses track time; going to be very hard to make my fantqsy F1 picks this race

Another early morning race here:

Sunday Sep. 25th, 4:30AM PT
Formula One Racing
Singapore Grand Prix
on Speed Channel

Renault really off the pace, and apparently their upgrade package had problems so they reverted to the "old" parts ... :grumpy:

Webbers face is just so funny in this picture(from Formula1.com)

My friend told me there is a sign of rain clouds hovering above Singapore... Though practise will start in about 2 hours time.

I strongly dislike the curbs and rumble strips used here, if it's a street circuit the walls should be the track barriers.

I can see no clouds now. I can pretty much see the area the track is from where I live.
It's a bit hazy though...

Edit:
I may have to take my words back. The sky is starting to turn dark because of the clouds now.

It didn't rain, guessing it wouldn't rain for qualifying. Alonso's sideway moment was just breathtaking!

I sent a question to ESPNSTAR regarding the race in case of a heavy downpour on Friday, so hopefully they pick my question and it might be shown and answered by either Steve Slater or Alex Yoong on Star Sport's Raceday...

It's amazing to see Senna outqualified Petrov in just his what, 4th race? Not just that, he bumped Petrov out of Q2 too! Impressive stuff by this lad... Daniel Ricciardo also outqualified his team mate. These new drivers are showing something.

I doubt Ricciardo will keep that up, Liuzzi has consistently had the edge on him in all but these last 2 races. Hell, as much as i'd love for Senna to keep this performance up, it may not happen again.

Wow, look at Senna sliding that car all around. Only 15th though.

Rubens outqualifies Maldonado for the first time in some time. Good job senior.

Sutil beats di Resta. Maybe the BBC will shut it now about di Resta being the next big thing.

When Petrov is absent, we know who to call on if we want some airborne.

By the way, Turn 10 is one hell of a hard corner.

Vettel is unstoppable, he'll almost certainly be on pole.

Button or Alonso for second :)

Son of a gun. There he goes again.

Here's to Webber beating him off the line.

Also, each team has their own row in the top 10.

Do you know what the definition of insanity is?

It's when you do the same thing over and over and expect different results. Honestly, I'm amazed that we're fourteen races into the season and you haven't worked out that Vettel is unstoppable just yet.

Well, I got one prediction right but that was a foregone conclusion anyway. I think Vettel should be demoted to Torro Rosso to even the field out a bit :D

Each team has it's own row, lol

If Kobayashi had done a lap it would have been like this all the way to 14th :D There were clear differences in car performance this weekend, across the whole field.

Glad that Button outqualified Hamilton and starts on the cleaner side of the grid, but I don't think anyone can stop Vettel, unless Webber gets him into turn 1.

For the first time this year I'm seeing massive gaps between cars. That Turn 10 is also in my opinion a silly corner but at the same time very challenging. Hopefully they would do something with it because it has caught up many drivers throughout its life and are waiting for more serious incident down at the corner.
