In news not related to arguing over whether Roush or Joe Gibbs has the better race team, Brad Keselowski won the rain-delayed Truck series race over Darrell Wallace Jr. Kyle Busch cut a tire with 22 laps to go while running a close third and finished several laps down. 👍

I don't see why the first portion was needed other than to sound like some righteous order being brought back...big whoop a cup driver won a truck race.

What is being discussed prior is just as relevant even if you don't like the argument. Also good job BK

Brad is the 25th driver to have a victory in each of the top 3 series.

I didn't realize that many drivers had won races in all three series....

Would it be fair to counter that MWR is struggling, not really Toyota as a whole?

MWR is struggling, even more than JGR. When the top Toyota team has the manufacturer's only 2 wins of the season after 23 races, I wouldn't call that a great performance. Toyota as a whole is struggling.

Toyota themselves admits they are down on power this year. Denny Hamlin stated after Michigan that he flat out could not run with the HMS cars. (Although he did exaggerate how much power the JGR cars were down)

Keep in mind that both Truex and Vickers won a race last year in an MWR Toyota, plus Bowyer comfortably made it in on points, even after a 50-point penalty at Richmond. MWR has gone 0-for-23 this year in wins, and Bowyer currently in on points, but it's a lot closer for him than it was last year.

Yes, JGR hasn't won as many races as they did last year either. But, I think that is more because of how well Penske and Hendrick have run, compared to everyone else. The fact that Penske has 5 wins from a 2-car team speaks volumes about how well their engineering department succeeded in testing with the new no ride height rules package.

Hendrick and Penske are alone at the top tier of current performance and results. SHR gets their equipment from HMS, so lump Harvick, Busch, and Stewart in here, too.

Joe Gibbs is right below them, but closer to the teams above them than the teams below them.

RCR and RFR have had good showings, and are holding on to a Chase spot or two each, but it's because of consistency and a lack of DNFs, not because of outright speed. MWR is somewhere in this same area.

Ganassi is probably under both of those teams, despite having occasionally faster cars, because they have zero consistency. Same goes for RPM and Furniture Row.

Everyone else shows up each week for their share of the purse money.

Exactly, things change year to year. Penske wasn't nearly as strong last year, yet this year they are well ahead of RFR and JGR, both of whom are struggling this year. No way would I rank JGR "right behind" HMS and Penske this year.

Because the internet has perfect memory, let's so back and recap everything Adamgp has said.
As it's shown below, that's not correct.
JGR just can't get wins. Looking at the stats, they have been great, but just can't win. You say Biffle is in a position to make the chase on points but, so can Kenseth, making JGR 3/3 and RFR 2/3 showing that JGR is better.

Wins are more important now. Year long consistency with only one win won't cut it anymore.

As I stated before, getting making the chase is one thing. Having a car/team capable of winning the championship is another. Neither JGR of RFR have proven they have a car capable of winning the title this year.

I don't have a problem with that. But I think they are reliable and have power, especially when looking at the stats above. Better then RFR's Fords.

They are down on power, TRD admitted this.
http://www.jayski.com/cupnews.htm#20140820f

Are you kidding me? It does make them worse. Especially if JGR has better stats, AND if they have 3/3 drivers in the chase.

Again, making the chase is one thing. Having a championship caliber team is another.

I suppose by that logic JGR is doing better than HMS since Kasey Kahne isn't currently in the chase and JGR currently has all drivers in.

JGR is ahead of RFR. They just stole an RFR driver to prove the point even more! JGR has more points! They have Better stats! THEY ARE AHEAD! And, as I recall to the first quote, you said JGR isn't doing much better then RFR, so you did say, RFR and JGR are about the same level. But they aren't, according to the stats above.

Ahead, not by much. Hence why I said they weren't doing much better.

Carl was looking for a change and JGR had an open spot. I guess we will find out next year if the change was lateral, or for better/worse.

I do agree neither of them have shown they can beat Penske or Hendrick. But, a couple lucky breaks can put either teams in a position to do so.

Exactly. Unless that happens, they are both struggling. Especially in comparison to HMS and Penske.

It only took you forever to finally admit it. But, you'll come back to say JGR will struggle just as much as RFR, which isn't true, as shown by the stats above.

I've said that since the start. RFR is struggling, so is JGR.

You said RFR and MWR and that threw some people off.
You didn't say doing better, you specifically said struggling(a few quotes above), which is true for MWR, but not at all for JGR, as shown for the stats above, maybe a little off, but not at all 'struggling'.
And that brings us back to now. Sorry for the rant and the long post, but needed to put the final nail in the very large coffin.

JGR has been the powerhouse team for Toyota. For them to only have Toyota's only 2 wins so far out of 23 races is struggling. Especially when compared to previous years.

Toyota themselves admits they are down on power this year. Denny Hamlin stated after Michigan that he flat out could not run with the HMS cars. (Although he did exaggerate how much power the JGR cars were down)

If you believe Brad Keselowski, everyone is struggling to keep up with HMS, engine-wise.

“We all have got a little bit of work to do because it's pretty obvious that the Hendrick engines are way ahead of everyone else,” Keselowski said. “Usually that's not something you catch up with in one season. As far ahead as they are right now, they're probably a full season ahead of everyone.”

Considering Hendrick engines have won 12 of the 23 races so far this season, I'd say they're definitely ahead of everyone else. They were pretty close to a 13th victory, which would have taken a win away from Toyota if it had happened as well.

California, when JJ and Jeff both blew tires in the final 10 laps?

You could also add Las Vegas, where Dale Jr ran out of gas on the final lap, allowing Keselowski to win. Without that, it's Dale Jr. with 4 wins, and all of Penske with 4 wins.

Larson was battling Busch for the win in California... nearly had him. Forgot about Vegas, but I don't remember watching Vegas... so there's that.

Kind of a turnaround after David Ragan had more wins than Dale Jr. between 2009 and 2013.

Should've never came down to that in the first place. Johnson was running away with it and had a LF flat with 7 to go. Gordon took over after that and was 2 laps away from winning when Bowyer spun with a flat in 3 & 4. Then Gordon had the choke of his career on the GWC restart.

Also Gordon was likely a lap away from getting Edwards at Sonoma so there's probably another one.

Well considering how many top fives and tens he had compared to Ragan and laps led, that really doesn't mean anything other than trying to find an easy way to say he sucked. I agree 2009 and 2010 Jr. was horrible and just all around crappy. 2011 to now he has picked it up and shown he can run quite well if he has the right crew cheif, I think Latarte proves this over the Mcgrew who was the 2009 and 2010 crew chief.

Virginia Tech and Tennessee are playing a game there in 2016.

I believe they've got the markings down already as a way to see if any changes needed to be made to the infield of the track, aside from the obvious need for astroturf/realturf/whichever artificial turf they go with.

Let's Play figure out Biffle's new sponsor
BvbiLQOIYAExHG1.jpg

Like this, or Burger King possibly?

bristol1-16.jpg

Also, this is a brand new sponsor for Biffle. I'm thinking it's Dairy Queen

Ok though, if new sponsor entirely..

I'm thinking Outback Steakhouse.

@prisonermonkeys
we're playing the "guess Biffle's sponsor" here, for a 2014 race.

Looks like Mars but obviously it's not (with Kyle Busch), maybe something to do with fire...

Looking for a clue, I found pretty cool paint schemes for Bristol, Truex Jr. ran it earlier this year once, Biffle's is new:

Re: Greg Biffle sponsor:

I say its this:

Something that has to do with BBQ.

Wait a minute! I think I have it! Its something about charcoal! Kingsford maybe? đź’ˇ

You can see a bit of the logo behind Greg. It's something red, so I'll guess it may be Carl's Jr. (Hardee's) or Heinz.

I'm 98.9% sure it is DQ. The shape of the logo, white text, and the color scheme that looks vaguely like their old ads confirms it for me. if not DQ, then it is Coca Cola and this could be a special. I'd stick to #1 though.

If you look closely, its red with white (letters) and a very thin orange stripe.

Maybe.

Just noticed that.

It has flames so I'd still assume it's a restaurant. But I can't lay a finger on a red logo with an orange outline.

I don't see it. But that vague red shape is starting to look a lot like the rest of the DQ logo

I'm seeing it. I'm now fully convinced its DQ which is a shame as I loooovvvveee DQ but I can't stand Biffle

I'm starting to see Firehouse Subs.

It has that thin orange outline, and the flames would make sense.

All I know is that it probably has something to do with fire. :dopey:

The letter font is different though, the points on the logo don't appear on the car.

Wild guess but what about...Hard Rock Café?

The correct answer is....

Maxovwc.jpg

Guess who called it?

I'm thinking we'll probably never guess it correctly, so we should just wait for the announcement.

Oh man. I never would've expected Ortho. Wait. Ortho fire ant killer? I said "something to do with fire" but I don't think that counts, does it?

well, this is going to affect the Monster truck and Global Rallycross setups there...

The correct answer is....

Guess who called it?

Makes sense given the history of lawn care products on Roush Fenway cars.
Also, How come nobody even once guessed it?

Posting this as a heads-up to those that may be affected.
