He probably won't since RPM isn't very good, but still, I hope he does at least decent there.

I don't think the team and equipment is very good. He is a great road course driver.
there, fixed that for you. In my opinion he's miscast racing 34 of 36 races on ovals, but happy to see him back full time.

It's official, by the way, makes a lot of sense, he's probably keeping the seat warm for Dakoda Armstrong one or two years:

Richard Petty Motorsports announced that three-time IndyCar Series Champion turned NASCAR winner, Sam Hornish, Jr. will join the storied organization to drive the #9 Ford in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series full-time in 2015. Hornish, Jr. joins RPM from Joe Gibbs Racing where he competed part-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series this season scoring one win and four Top-Five finishes in only eight starts. Hornish, Jr. has competed in three full seasons in the Sprint Cup Series as well as two full seasons in the Nationwide Series for Penske Racing where he finished second in points in 2013 by a mere three markers. In 2014, Hornish, Jr. has made the most of his time behind the wheel while driving a partial Nationwide Series schedule at Joe Gibbs Racing with two poles and a win. He is now ready to rejoin the Sprint Cup Series with RPM. "This is a great opportunity to join Richard Petty Motorsports and the No. 9 Ford team in the Sprint Cup Series," said Hornish, Jr. "Owners Richard Petty, Andrew Murstein and Doug Bergeron have built this organization into a championship-contending team with world-class sponsors and partners. Many people have noticed to the progress being made here and I'm ready to build off this momentum. My goal is to put the #9 team in victory lane in 2015 and be a competitor in 'The Chase'." The #9 team will continue to be led by Crew Chief Drew Blickensderfer who has three Sprint Cup Series wins to his credit. Co-Owner Richard Petty is proud to welcome Hornish, Jr. to the team. "Sam is a really good fit for RPM and will be a great addition to the team," said Petty. "He's a family man who fits well with our core values and he will be a great ambassador for our partners. Sam's also proven that he can win races and compete for a championship. He came into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with a steep learning curve from open wheel racing, but has shown in the Nationwide Series that he is a winner. We feel that he can get the #9 team to Victory Lane and compete in 'The Chase' for us."(Richard Petty Motorsports)(10-8-2014)

Just because they say something now doesn't mean it will happen, it's sort of like how drivers always say they are close to a deal to re-sign when in reality they are already half-way out the door.
told you so about #9 ;)

So they basically hired Ambrose again then. Also, his Nationwide record is pretty damn good. Not all road courses. I just don't think the team and equipment are that great.

Looking at http://www.racing-reference.info/driver/Sam_Hornish_Jr. I don't know why I remembered him as a younger Ambrose, he's actually decent (when in top equipment) on ovals:

2013 (33 races):
Win at Vegas
Top 5's at Daytona, Bristol, Fontana, Iowa (twice), Elkhart Lake, Chicago (twice), Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, Atlanta, Kentucky, Charlotte, Texas, Phoenix

2014 (8 races so far):
Win at Iowa 1st race
Top 5's at Talladega, Michigan & Iowa 2

Yeah 2013 Nationwide Series 25 top 10s and 16 top 5s, 1 win. Lost the Championship by 3 points. Also finished 4th in the 2012 Nationwide Championship.

I think Sam should have went back to IndyCar when he had a chance, now he is just doomed to ride around in the middle of the field. I was also unimpressed by his Nationwide stats, someone with his talent and top level equipment should have easily won the title last year.

I would have either put a younger driver like David Ragan or Landon Cassill in the #9, or just scrapped the team altogether and solely focus on Aric Almirola.

Don't know what's happening at reddit with that, but Landon does deserve a better ride in NASCAR.

I'm guessing they're a bit annoyed with Hornish getting the 9 and not a younger driver.

Oh boy... lets compared Nationwide stats to how hey will perform in the Cup series...

I don't really know what your deal is, but your intentions are really clear. Nowhere in my post was there a comparison to the Nationwide Series to the Sprint Cup Series. I said Sam is a great racecar driver. I provided some stats. Nothing more. If you want to beef, send me a message. Until then, chill out and take some deep breaths, little buddy<3

What a load of boring.
Someone actually got paid to make that. :grumpy:

Sam Hornish Jr. likely to take over the #9 RPM Ford next year.

Glad to see him get another chance at a full time Cup ride.
My guess is that his results won't be much better than what it is now with Ambrose.

Not everything is about you. Check the post that is above the one you think I'm directing my post at and you might see why I said what I said.

You ask too many questions. First you told me to search the internet for how many tire issues were had in the Nationwide race, now you are asking me to check the post above the one you that I think is direct at me? Sorry, Bud. Those posts were within 7 minutes of each other and virtually said the same thing.

Dude, he didn't ask you anything :odd:

He wasn't responding to you, he was responding to meek.

Speaking of which:

told you so about #9 ;)

Can you not just drop things and let it go? Seriously, that wasn't even necessary. All he was saying was not to jump to conclusions, he wasn't trying to prove you wrong.

I don't know if I should grab popcorn or not in case confrontation breaks out.
Anyway, a few days ago, some Nationwide tires got sent to Concord to be looked at (not that big of a deal since it happens all the time) . Why they picked Kyle Busch's set though is beyond me since they picked the set he did his burnout with, but then again, they probably took other tires as well.

I read that. I think it's kind of standard operating procedure. That said, I have never heard of this tire confiscation routine before publicly.

What good will taking the tires that had done burnouts do for them? I don't see them having much use in whatever they are trying to get.

The way that I'm interpreting the article makes it sound like that, which again is beyond dumb. I really think that they probably took a different set, but the article makes such a big deal about the post race interview that it sounds like NASCAR stupidly chose to investigate that set of tires.
