So if this is a preview to the Cup race, it'll be an expensive day for team owners. That's what I've gotten out of the Nationwide race.

Since there's been some rain in the area, it would be wise to expect a competition caution at some point in the early portion of the race tonight.

Maybe lap 25 since that's what Brad K tweeted.

How about we just forget all about that stupid rule or whatever it is, if Goodyear could produce a decent tire that would hold up then we wouldn't worry. Every other major series seems to be ok for the most part, yes I know they run different cars etc, but Goodyear has stopped growing in Nascar.

Looks weird. The manufacturer cues on the front look like they're too squished together.

Even without the rain, Goodyear was warning teams about speed this weekend with the tires. Tires were unwinding last night in the Nationwide race, so it's not a car issue.

Well then.... I just watched a replay of Ty Dillon's wreck today and heard a comment from a reporter saying that McClure blew a tire right about when they made contact. That doesn't change the fact that Ty should have eased out instead of forcing the issue, but it's ironic to think that there might have been a caution anyway even if the pile up didn't happen.

I understand all that, but how are you going to limit speed when the goal is to be the fastest? I mean you can't win from 30th place usually, so maybe some don't push it as hard but that's not really going to be ideal.

It's not like the top guys are going to run from say 190-195 average to 170-175, so the ball goes back to Goodyear putting the blame on a driver/crew/car than saying we don't have the correct tire we need to race at the speeds we are reaching. So with all that said, Goodyear isn't dumb or new to building tires....they have just become lazy. Every other series keeps trying to advance their tires to be safer, faster and durable. It's the biggest reasons why I think they want to cut HP; they claim in 2016 they are going to try to use an engine for more than once race....that's blowing smoke to some degree.

Since tires are more than likely going to be an issue, I have a feeling that some of the Chase drivers are going to deal with tire issues. The question is, which driver will be struck with Goodyear's misfortune?

Why not? Other major series have that as a rule. Indycar and F1 both have requirements for engines to go multiple races, and F1 power units are limited to 5 per season now, so they have to make them last for 4 races. Goodyear is a problem though. Tire technology needs to advance along with racecar technology. I realize NASCAR is just getting to the 80s/90s in terms of technology, but Goodyear is further back than that when it comes to their tires.

Jimmie Johnson.

Wha1?! No NASCAR coverage across any of ESPN's networks due to stupid, overblown, meaningless college football games!?!?!? As Kurt Busch will likely say tonight: This is bull!@#$
then again, Doctor Who is on tonight so...

Because that's not how live TV works, and they can't delay the race either.

Perfect time to rejoin the race since it just hit the competition caution. This gives ESPN a chance to fill us in on what we missed.

2 blown engines and a competition caution so far tonight. No tire issues yet, and they even had a green flag pit stop cycle.

And a wild Danica appears to crash the party with help from the 22.
EDIT: Since I can't brain today, that would be Logano, not Keselowski as I mistakenly said initially.
