Interesting thing to note though is that F1 did have some (not many admittingly) of those moments:

Not as brutal honestly (more hilarious then actually fighting), but still. To be honest though, F1 has this air of exclusivity so naturally they won't even let so much as a swear word come out the drivers mouths. Hell, this is run by a sanctioning body that'll punish just for doing Donuts so its hardly even worth a comparison really.

Its pretty much a racing accident in my eyes. Everyone was going for it, two collided and thunderdome erupted.

Pretty sure he came to him face to face to him the moment he started talking to him so I don't see where he snuck up.

Whoa, really? Didn't hear about that.

Yes, both have had their share but I think F1 has grown out of it... Not with the other and it will be unlikely so.

Well, that does explain why Brad reacted the way he did when it happened

In F1 the "disrepute" penalties can be quite high; the public image is very controlled.

I'm not saying that Nascar wouldn't penalise drivers who brought the sport into some kind of disrepute but I think they deliberately allow a very different kind of image.

Not sure whats more sad, NASCAR allowing this kind of out-of-control behavior or fans like you that love the hell out of it and think that's what racing is supposed to be.

I don't like the fights at all. Never said that I "love the hell out of it." The racing on track is great though because drivers are going for it again. Get the crew out of it and let the drivers work it out themselves. The pit crews are the ones who really made it escalate quickly

Well, NASCAR isn't on the top of the racing categories because of its racing now is it?

Seriously, it's all the same, with the exception of Bristol and Daytona. Those are really the only two tracks with their own atmosphere around them. All other tracks are just copies, which make it dull. NASCAR has to have something happen to make it interesting, and fighting normally boosts their spotlight.

For the sake of who they are (if I read your post correctly) I'm sure they are fine with this attitude of the drivers really, and just charge a penalty of another $25,000 to whoever does it again. They want to keep this new grid format in and the drivers instead of making a mockery of themselves and trashing it all...

Yea with the prima donnas they have driving, no one knows how to fight
It's not like they can drive either...

They all can except Maldonado. He would be great at NASCAR. He's got the bump and run down pat
All that he'd need is Milka Duno as his teammate. She could be a moving chicane, and he could use that to make every race have a big one in it.

I didn't say you did either. I just remember this post after the Charlotte incident:

This craziness is what got NASCAR popular in the first place. Good to see some good ol Saturday night racin back

You at least seem to imply that you love it.

I think we can add Sergio Perez to that equation after that move he pulled Sunday.

These drivers all have massive egos as any other racecar driver does and the fact of the matter is NASCAR will do little to nothing about the fighting. People like Kevin Harvick have even developed a reputation as being some sort of badass with all that MMA talk. Brad K is starting to get a similar attitude. NASCAR loves it. For each person who doesn't like it there are 100 people who do. NASCAR may fine the 24 and the 2 but don't expect them to kick anyone out of the chase or try to make an example out of anyone involved. Especially NASCAR's golden boy Jeff Gordon. NASCAR fans were never known for sophistication or even class. The only way to guarantee a fine nowadays is to speak negatively about NASCAR or the new car.

I'd rather have drivers deal with their issues out of their cars than in them.

There is no reason for all out brawls though, sure, let them get into verbal arguments, but fists should never fly.

NASCAR needs to realize times are changing and younger people as well as people with children don't want to watch post-race fights, they want to watch racing (If I had children, I would not let them watch NASCAR due to the recent fighting).

That was tongue in cheek. Sorry if sarcasm lead to moaaaaar internet mayhem!! The fights and garage craziness after that race was too far for my taste. When Smoke did what he did that at Charlotte backing up into Brad K on pit road, I will admit that I laughed.

If they really wanted to stop the brawls, ban the pit crews if they fight. 99.9% of the time the scuffles turn into melees because the big ol tough guy jackmen and tire carriers decide they're gonna fight for their driver. Suspend the crew chiefs for allowing their crew to go fight also. That would cut out a lot of that. Make the guys responsible for keeping a team in order responsible for their actions. Hard to suspend/fine a driver a lot of money when he/she didn't even really fight

BTW: here's Paul Menard's reaction to a fight in his pit box

If NASCAR really wants to end any post race fighting, park the 2, 24 & 4 for a weekend. That would get the message across. Or they can continue to fine millionaires 25K with a warning.

While that would work, that would not be the right thing to do given the precedent set so far this season. That would be the absolute wrong thing to do because then the 20 and 11 would also need to be parked plus more too from earlier this season. It's totally wrong to give slaps then all of the sudden wield an iron fist of discipline when the championship is on the line. That's how sponsors and teams leave the series

I agree it would ruin a lot of people's seasons. Until NASCAR comes out with a zero tolerance rule, it will continue to be the way it is. Point being, NASCAR loves it. Any actions taken will be a slap on the wrist. Will they implement a zero tolerance rule next season? I'd venture to say no they will not.

If NASCAR wants to force it to end by parking people, they CANNOT do that now this late in the season. NASCAR has to start this next year, but if they park people now, they could very easily blow the Chase. Parking Gordon would likely set the fans off, and the last thing NASCAR needs to do is anger the fans, especially since Gordon is the prime favorite from the fans to win the championship. Start doing that next year if they want, but they can't do it now.

Like I said, make the crew chiefs and pit crews responsible for their own actions. The drivers are not the only one responsible by any means for a pit melee even if he/she walks over to give the other driver a piece of his/her mind. Racing incidents happen. With the new points format, the stakes are way higher which means the tempers will boil over faster.

How many times over the past few years have we seen the 24 in a confrontation resorting to physical violence? I can think of a few. He's right up there with Harvick. Matt Kenseth, Jeff Burton, Clint Bowyer, Brad K. Will NASCAR ever do anything to Jeff? Only the future will tell. Looking back at the confrontations for years, 24 seems to be the one to take it to the physical level. Words are words. Most end there.

So Ambrose, Montoya, Harvick, Rudd, Busch, Spencer, Edwards, Kenseth and Stewart all did nothing and Gordon is the only one who is out of control?

No, I was talking about the one guy over the past few years that takes it to a physical level most every time there is a disagreement. Still one of the most loved racers in NASCAR. I'm not going back to Rudd or Spencer's days. Recent times. Harvick is a douche too. Both are big time babies.
