I have been back and forth on BK's deal at Texas, I don't ever mind aggressive driving by any driver to a degree. There is a difference in a bump and run at a short track than somewhere like Texas, there are ways to move drivers out of the way without door slamming them. Brad I feel thinks he can race people like that or that the sport needs someone like him, his ego wasn't terrible in 2012 but it feels like Joey being there hasn't helped now either.

Jeff seemed mad after the race and wanted to talk, I don't see him going to blows on anyone over a racing deal like that. It seems once Harvick did his duty as he thinks, Jeff's mind shut off and then all broke loose. The funny thing if Brad is such this great guy to all the fellow drivers, etc then why are crew guys standing around his car not letting Jeff get to him. The actions there prove Brad wasn't so sure he made the right move and his excuse of if there is a hole you take it. Anyone with half a brain and watched the race knew how the outside line has to work to get a run out of 2 or else you will be left in the dust; it went from he was going to be all over Johnson to forcing his way into the middle where Jeff was making his entry in to the corner....

I have never really like Brad, not sure why at all but he isn't making himself very well respected in the garage anymore.

Anyone catch the new K&N/ARCA bodies they are changing to for next year. It looks HORRIBLE, it's a step in the right direction to some degree but it still isn't right.

BTW: here's Paul Menard's reaction to a fight in his pit box

My gosh, you can really see the outrage in his eyes!

Nascar Penalizes the 24 and 5 teams.

Daytona Beach, Fla. (Nov. 4, 2014) -- NASCAR has assessed penalties to crew members from the No. 5 and No. 24 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams for their involvement in post-race incidents on Nov. 2 at Texas Motor Speedway. In addition, the crew chiefs from those two teams also have been penalized.

Jeremy Fuller, a crew member with the No. 5 team along with Dwayne Doucette and Jason Ingle, crew members with the No. 24 team, each have been fined $25,000 and suspended from NASCAR through the completion of the next six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship points races. All three were found to be in violation of:

• Section 12-1: Actions detrimental to stock car racing

• Section 12-4.9: Behavioral penalty – involved in a post-race physical altercation with a driver on pit road

Dean Mozingo, a crew member with the No. 24 team, has been fined $10,000 and suspended from NASCAR through the completion of the next three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship points races. He was found to be in violation of:

• Section 12-1: Actions detrimental to stock car racing

• Section 12-4.9: Behavioral penalty – involved in a post-race physical altercation with another crew member on pit road

Kenny Francis, crew chief of the No. 5 team, and Alan Gustafson, crew chief of the No. 24 team, have each been fined $50,000 and placed on NASCAR probation through the completion of the next six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship points races. They were found to be in violation of:

• Section 9-4A: Crew chief assumes responsibility for the actions of his team members

• Section 12-1: Actions detrimental to stock car racing

• Section 12-4.9: Behavioral penalty

While the intensity and emotions are high as we continue through the final rounds of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, the actions that we saw from several crew members Sunday following the race at Texas are unacceptable," said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR senior vice president/competition and racing development. "We reviewed the content that was available to us of the post-race incident along pit road, and identified several crew members who crossed the line with their actions, specifically punching others."

"We therefore have penalized four crew members as well as their crew chiefs, as they ultimately are responsible for members of their team per the NASCAR rulebook," Pemberton continued. "A NASCAR championship is at stake, but we can't allow behavior that crosses the line to go unchecked, particularly when it puts others in harm's way."

NASCAR is mainly using the "any publicity is good publicity" approach. Of course, the penalties will hurt Gordon dearly since he is losing a good chunk of his pit crew as a result of this.

I also agree with not penalizing Keselowski's pit crew since they didn't start it. Gordon's crew started the fight. The 2 crew only got involved to try to get Brad out of the melee.

that's how the attract viewers I don't know now if your a Nascar fan or not but you gotta admit it does look very appealing to the motorsport fans eye that's how they got me a few years back and still watch to this day I actually prefer it to the Australian V8 Supercars

I've been watching for years. I remember watching the 2001 Daytona 500 and being confused about the turmoil that happened that day (I was 7 at the time, I had no idea that Dale Earnhardt Sr. died then until later). But lately, I haven't watched the races much since I've been dealing with a boatload of homework in my college classes.

Have to wonder if Hendrick will try to get the team switched up for Homestead if Gordon is still in it.

The racing on track is great though because drivers are going for it again.

Sorry for a brief topic derailment, but have you actually been watching the races? Apart from a few moments on late race restarts and the plate tracks, the racing has been meh to mind-numbingly boring this year. 👎 And before certain thread members say, "I thought you stopped watching NASCAR and you're just on another anti-NASCAR rant.", I still watch NASCAR races, but only small segments at a time, usually when the football games are in commercial break, and the racing I have seen supports my earlier statement.

That might happen, but I'm not sure it will. I'm sure that Hendrick has plenty of reserves, but a crew swap is made, either Johnson or Jr. will be the driver who has to give up his team.

Cue the "Jr. gets screwed conspiracies".

How could he get screwed? He and JJ are both out of contention. He wouldn't lose a thing if he loses his crew. Since Kahne lost a man, it'll for sure either be JJ or Jr. who has to swap crews.

It doesn't say what the suspended crew member's jobs were. For all anyone knows they were the guys who plug in the fresh air system to the driver's helmets or secure the window nets.

Some Jr. fans on principle hate anything good or positive that happens to Gordon. Some of them even cheer these penalties given to his crew members.

I'm sure 5 laps at a time mid race sure seems boring

There may still be some of those left, but a lot have stopped hating Gordon and now hate Johnson

I watch most every race flag to flag with the exception of a few like Talladega and Pocono. I also don't care for Daytona but will watch it because it's the first race of the year and I need to get my fix from the boring offseason. I get free tickets to Fontana every year my choice of Nationwide or Cup but never show up because CA is boring lol. I went to the inaugural CA race in 1997 when I was a teenager. Stupid Jeff Gordon won. I hate football. CSB

They should have stuck with the "late model" look of the K&N cars.

Called the $25,000 fine...

and suspensions, I don't understand them at all. Brad was suspended while at Talladega, and he still got to race...???

or is that completely incorrect..?

He is on probation, not suspended. Not even really sure what that means. Kind of like a "watch yourself for a few weeks" kind of thing.

Ahh, probation, not suspension...

Still, what the heck is the difference between the two? Did it do anything to him?
