I'm including the possibility of winning Dega, Johnson's not that great of a plate racer, and Brad has pissed off the whole field, Jr. I can see winning next week

Everyone else already is. If I had anything bad to say about him, I'd only be preaching to the choir. Do I think he did anything right? No.

Yet everyone says Hamlin did nothing wrong even though he already admitted to starting it, and Kenseth gets praised for jumping someone from behind even though he's the one who (allegedly) sideswipped Brad under a yellow.

There are far more people who are biased against Brad and were way before last night. Why call me out?

I just don't see it happening. Talladega is a crapshoot, especially the fall race. It's either going to be a completely wild race, or yet another boring race, and not even Kyle Larson can add entertainment to the race if it is boring.

But he tried to sneak attack him. The same Matt Kenseth who was caught on camera :censored:ting his pants when Edwards threatened to punch him a few years back. Trying a sneak attack.

I'm not quite sure how having a differing opinion constitutes nonsense, but meh. Doesn't matter to me. It wont change anything.

Hot head Tony Stewart just cant contain himself can he? The guy is on a hair trigger and it shows. Keselowski barely touches him so he feels the need to retaliate and destroy the front of his car instantly.

After this season Im probably done with NASCAR when such childish behavior that has and will get people hurt is continued to be permitted. Really? Ramming eachother like this is bumper cars? Do these idiots ever once consider the labor and money they're costing the teams of both cars? I can maybe see some rubbing like what Jr did at Richmond or Keselowski at Martinsville, but what Stewart did was totally uncalled for.

Its this whole attitude thats sprung up, where you even have guys like AJ Allmendinger threatening to use his car a weapon to wreck someone else because they caused him to scrap the wall and that he doesnt care if they dont have a backup car to replace his current car after hes done ruining it going after someone.

I do agree with you that Stewart probably should've stayed out of it, if only because now the people who felt he hit Ward on purpose have some ammo. I think Keselowski is mainly at fault, but they all share some blame, naturally. Interested to see how seriously NASCAR takes it.

That's what I was thinking, especially with Kyle being the most well behaved of the JGR drivers

Well, since the whole thing is under review still, we will all be hearing a lot more about it. Looking forward to Talladega, five drivers (Kahne, Johnson, Earnhardt Jr., Kenseth, and Keselowski) all can only control their fate by winning the race. Several other drivers have specific requirements that they need to meet to control their own destiny, but it is a whole lot more probable than being forced to win outright. I've linked the clinch scenarios for those who want to see what their favorite drivers need to do in order to advance (assuming your favorite is still in the running for the championship).

It's not clear if Keselowski - or Hamlin or Kenseth - will be punished by NASCAR on Tuesday, the day penalties are traditionally issued. NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton said the sanctioning body will review the final on-track laps, and everything that occurred on pit road and in the garage. NASCAR in May fined Marcos Ambrose and Casey Mears for fighting in the garage after a race at Richmond. Harvick was fined in 2011 for a pit-road confrontation with Kyle Busch in which NASCAR cited safety concerns of Busch using his car to push Harvick's car away. The next year, Kurt Busch was fined $50,000 for dangerous driving on pit road when he hit Ryan Newman's car during a confrontation. But in the case of Saturday, with so much focus on the new Chase and the attention for the post-race skirmishes, it's not clear if NASCAR will punish those involved or pat them on the back. Harvick said there was no way NASCAR takes any action. "They love it. They were fighting afterwards, that's what it's all about," Harvick said.

Sadly, I think Harvick might be right. The way this new chase format is going and the amount of attention that is bringing, this is exactly what NASCAR wants for their ratings.

You forgot the new illegal contact penalty for touching another competitors' car. It's a five second penalty added to the next pit stop.

I'm not comparing anything, just realized that Hornish actually did a decent job (read, better than Ambrose) on ovals, when in good equipment.

Kenseth wasn't ":censored:ting his pants when Edwards threatened to punch him", he had a defensive reaction because his then teammate, pulled a tough-guy, stupid move on the 5-8 Kenseth, for a race incident (?).
For reference, I don't care about Kenseth, and Edwards is one of my favorite drivers.

I agree it was sneaky, especially adding "he's a champion, he should know better" in the interview after jumping him, but it was certainly funny.

Ambrose was always in average equipment, and Hornish was on the level of Danica Patrick in the Cup series with his Penske-Jasper stint. It was only in the Nationwide Series that Hornish finally got into top equipment. He won't be very good next season.

If NASCAR can make more money showing a glorified demolition derby and getting fans in seats for a change, you best believe that is what will happen

I say they expand the chase to cover the entire season, and have eliminations once a driver is more than one race out of the points lead.

Edit: Races with a time limit between 2 and 3 hours. Nationwide with time limits not to exceed 2 hours, and trucks stay where they are now as most of their races don't go over 90 minutes.

Of course, none of this would ever happen.

Here's my idea for a Chase format;

It's an 11 car grid, those being the winners from past races. Seeding by wins is by increments of 5 points as opposed to 3. The driver with the least amount of points at the end of each round is eliminated, unless that driver wins the race which automatically qualifies them for the next race regardless of points. So after Chicagoland you'd have 10 drivers, then 9 after New Hampshire and so on until the final two driver showdown in Homestead-Miami where the leaders reset in points. Make it so drivers cannot fall below 20 points of the leader, preventing mathematical eliminations.

People may argue that this format will be more unforgiving to those who are competitive, eliminating a top driver because - say - they blow a motor. What happens is what happens.
