BoP is amazingly good. This is awesome stuff!

I'd disagree. Yet again DPs still have too much advantage in crucial areas.

Personally I'm getting sick of BoP, let's widen the rulebook and not restrict everyone down - that produces equalisation by natural means, by drivers and teams doing things differently to get the same result. Hell, the P2 guys actually said that would be better after Daytona, rather than forcing everyone into one box (which also coincidentally benefits the DPs more).

It makes absolutely no sense to me that the DPs get such a huge horsepower advantage. It means they are better in a straight line, and powering up off a corner, and being heavier means they get heat in the tires quicker meaning they can spring out into an early lead. With the P2s only really having an advantage under braking.

Strange. Seems to me like TUSCC is still reluctant to completely even up BoP?
P2s are faster, it's just that Laguna is tough to pass on to begin with. You have to look at it neutrally, without any bias against either of the car types.

I have a question, what is the open top and the Corvette hard top racing together? I mean why is there hard and open top racing together

LMP2 regulations allow both open and closed cockpit designs.

DP are closed cockpit only

I am - you can clearly see the DPs are faster. They have been at every round so far this year. The teams, even DP teams, don't like BoP and there is a general feeling that the DPs have had way too much horsepower added to compensate for their heavier weight.

So my thoughts after Race 1 (The Amateur race): Pretty good, not as many bone headed moves as sebring (though there appears to be some missing brain cells in the guy who thought going through the corkscrew with a broken suspension was a good idea). Good racing mostly and we ended up getting an excellent finish in one class. Hope Race 2 (The Pro Race) is more of the same or better.

I don't like the rule that allows teams to not start the driver that qualifies the car. It ended badly in Long beach, and it almost ended badly again in Laguna

Either way, the Gus bus is rolling!

When in doubt, Trust the Gus.

Looks like the Gus Bus may need some fresh tires and a new nose cone

Wow….The Mazda is passing GT cars.

Yacaman was clearly faster than Valiante until he got dirt on his tired.

P2 cars had 3 of the first 4 positions.

I swear, most ALMS fans wont be happy until all the P2 cars, including the Mazdas, are 10 seconds a lap faster....

Oh until those dumb NASCAR 2.0 DPs aren't there, half this thread won't like TUSCC

I don't mind DPs being there, I just don't like the P2s being pegged down to their level and lower - surely it should be the other way round? Let the DPs work their way up? OR make the DPs a separate class?

They're in regular spec. It's been all DP upgrades. They were in Le Mans trim for Daytona and regular downforce trim for the other races.

^^That's how I feel too. Make them two separate classes. That way the LMPs can keep their Le Mans link instead of running detuned on tires that no one with an ounce of common sense would take to Europe.

The problem for them is the Continental tyres, they're not on a par with the Michelin's and Dunlop's that P2 cars normally have.

The beautiful OAK Morgan is being bullied by the #90 Corvette

So why not let them run Michelins? GTLM runs Michelins/whatever tires they choose.

Except they have to run on crap Continentals, making them 2 seconds a lap slower than last year and showing all setup data out the window. This years pole time was around 2 seconds slower than last years P2 pole

Put the DP cars on those tires too and the same situation we have now happens again just the tire budget goes up for all teams...

Brundle, what the crap were you thinking?!

Bad move by Brundle, he'll probably get a penalty for that.

Not Brundle's fault, Westbrook pushed him off the road in the braking zone (he tried a couple of laps ago). The car won't slow down on the sand.

Definitely seems like an unnecessary move, but the block was also abit overboard.
